  5. So, just wondering if there would be any interest in seeing if we can come up collectively with an FG top 10 must play games list? Currently thinking the format along the lines of everyone puts a list down of say 5 games each, we then all have to put them into priority and then each position get's a set number of points i.e. if I put the Witcher 3 top, then Fifa (heaven forbid) second then Witcher 3 would say get 10 points and then Fifa 9 and so on and so on. Would that interest people or am I shouting into the wind? ๐Ÿ˜„ I would then look at doing a short write up for each game in the top 10 so if anyone has comments to say about any of their nominations, memories and such put them in the post and I could look to use them in the write ups.

    Missing Threads

Theres always been WhatsApp groups, Brede. I can't stop them. If you look back a few years ago, I tried to embrace everything for the sake of all. Discord, WhatsApp, FB and anything else you can think of. We're likely nearing that cycle again of basically me tearing it all up and bringing it all back...but part of me after the last two times would just love it if people wouldn't be so lazy in life. I feel the pressure myself and I can't lie. If I'm not doing events, sending messages, thinking of ideas to get people to play games, no fucker does. Well, some do, but when they realise they get not much joy after a few times, they give up. I don't blame them - I suppose I'm the only one who's decided to do that for 10 years here. I'm now nearly 40, so life does change and evolve. But I wanted FG to be FG for all, not FG that is a check in cos Lee asked them to. There is always ways to rejuvenate the place. But people have to WANT to do that. And before anyone asks, god I've tried multiple ways to get people involved, drafting ideas of different roles, changing forums around to accommodate stuff, etc. Nothing has stuck so far, otherwise it wouldn't just be me. We all have the gift of sorting this out. And I'll still be me trying to find ways of doing that, but I also know that the ones that don't want to, won't want to until they fully have an epiphany and maybe if I say FG closes for good? Who knows. I just don't think a bold statement like that should ever be needed when I know there's 100 odd regular FGers that could be active and they don't. How many times do I have to say that if we were all active and took a tiny interest each day, then it would actually be the best place on the internet cos so many would be chipping in n loads of different stuff. I suppose this thread was eventually going to tip me. I'm super conscious I haven't updated my PPR in months and I'm usually the one that says practice what you preach. I think I'm gonna give myself grace just this once for the past 10 years. If you have some bright ideas, please shout up. Its always worth reading the whole of site info and announcements though first. You'll see about 4000 posts from me (no lie) about getting people together in lots of ways. Pick one and run with it. I love this god damn place. I just paid ยฃ150 for the software for the next year again and it wasn't even a thought of not doing that. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค Aww man, Brede. You made me go there ๐Ÿฅฒ. 7. Hello again! My beautiful FG family, I've gone through a bit of a tumultuous time and took a step back/break from gaming and subsequently FG . I am finally back in a good mental space so I've returned. For those who don't know me (or don't remember... ๐Ÿ˜…) I am Stephen from Ireland, I have 2 kids one of them with Autism and I play on PS5 . When I get the chance I play helldivers , COD , Fifa and Battlefield. I am looking to get into Hell let loose and Vigor if anyone is up for it .

  8. Apologies for the video quality but it was quite a while ago. St Etienne had a certain Mr Platini playing for them. This was my first "European Tour" and it was almost a bucket list destination. That was after hearing the "Green Roar" against Liverpool FC on a tinny tranny in the '70's. The green roar was quite muted as the game went on and the home support melted away as the fourth goal went in IIRC the away support for that match was about 400. The coach trip was 18 hours each way with two drivers hot shopping. Despite all the fan problems of the time, there wasn't a single arrest at any of our EUFA Cup away games.

  9. This is brilliant, thank you all so far. I've known for a while we have underutilised sections and its a cyclical thing really. We really removed things over time to make it simplistic and then I added new features on top over time to keep the place fresh and worth coming back to it. This feedback really helps work out where we can potentially remove certain areas off the main focus when they don't seem to be being used and try and circulate more key features. I think I've always been clear on one principle that has to stay for FG to work for me and that's the website being our main HOME. WhatsApp is chill and great for connecting, as is Discord, but its not personable as this place as is viewed as 'your place', not standardised bland group chats. One thing is for sure, I need to pick Announcements again, which are similar to what Welchy picks up around what's on. It was essentially a notification system of telling you all there's some new shit this week, go and check it out. It was just something that takes a while to get used to doing because everything requires time. Time around work, life, home, kids, etc. We can all make time though, if we want stuff to work. And I'd love to try yet another way of getting more people involved, I won't stop trying different ways to ask people if they want to get in on the FG act - just note that's its not the first I've asked everyone so its on everyone to recognise that a little more stepping up to the plate is all that's needed for FG to grow and flourish. So with that in mind, whilst I take some thought on some changes, let this be the place for the first way to gather interest on who would love to be involved in this stuff. Even if its just one small part of FG, it all counts. Remember, there's many things where people can immediately add value by just going into that section and creating or interacting with it. Quizzes, for example, ANYONE can create one if you are an FGer. I have also linked very many medals and achievements for interacting with this type of stuff, including responding to Events so it all counts, especially if you can see a nice shiny medal on your FG profile. Please keep the feedback coming in here everyone - its great we've had 4 comments above but more feedback and dialogue in here between us all will really help get things going at FG ๐Ÿ‘Š

    D&D Night!

Baum now has the drider gland, dragon heart and giants spine: Drider Gland - Levitate and darkness spell Dragons Heart - Flight, Produce a breath/Flame, Long Life Giants Spine - Long Life, Regeneration. Matt/Greboths characters were staying out of sight. Lavendar went to kill Arn but was stopped by a second spell. Baum looks up to see Jarlaxl (drow mercenary leader) was responsible. Jarlaxl and Baum know each other. Jarlaxl levitates into the middle of us, and threatens Baum to leave, however Baum must leave Lavendar behind. Jarlaxl got us to fight Lavendar as a test. We beat the shit out of Lavendar and kill her. Jarlaxl states that whilst Lavender was not a good person she was good at what she did. It shows Drow respect warriors. Jarlaxl picks up Lavenders Axe with one hand, which shows how strong he is. Gives it to Breadbin. Azum promises to act as a member of Bragen D'Erth and is given a necklace/pouch with 2 effects: Levitate - once per long rest Contains a coin of bragen D'erth which can be used with thieves guild. Azum promises that once Baum is defeated, he will go back to the underdark to join with Bragen D'erth. The group travel back to Slema and into the Tavern on a quiet afternoon. Jeremy and Miranda are happy to see everyone, particularly Arn. The main group joined a local militia and took out a cult in the early sessions. There are now proper kings guards, who regularly see and hang out with the group. Guard Captain Foundry Finds us at our table in the tavern. We update him on what happened, and a group of people overhear that we killed Lavender and join us at the table. They are keen to hear about the underdark and what we did. We got the posh guard twats to leave and resumed talking to Captain Foundry. Captain Foundry shows a royal parchment which says there have been a series of attacks on villages east of Slema; St Julians, Paceville, Mosta (the coast). The reports suggest they were attacked by the scourge and ghouls. These are unconfirmed reports, it could just be bandits. There is a reward for investigating the attacks all the way to Mosta, requesting eye-witness testimonies from us. Breadbin persuaded Captain Foundry to give us fresh supplies, horses, carriage etc. Father Richards is the local priest, who would be good to talk to about facing undead. Cereny (from thieves guild) might have information about how we can counter the time stop spell in exchange for the coin.

  23. CDs are coming back out for me. The ease of Spotify and streaming music is great for certain scenarios but if I'm chilling at home in the shed, then a CD in the background is a far better option as its a choice to do something you want to do specifically rather than get a curated playlist continually retune your needs. ooo I'd love to see tapes make a comeback! Probably not worth the hassle unfortunately but would be ace to play on the odd occasion. As we love games, I'll obviously say all my old consoles and handheld devices are a great alternative for an evening of gaming. Makes you appreciate the gaming industry, especially when lately it feels like new good games are a thing of the past. Actually, to finish I'd also say one more thing...I got Hayley a Tamogochi for Christmas! ๐Ÿคฃ They were ace back in the day, just to pass abit of time. These days we use continuous never ending free games on our phone but this feels like a cool way to get off those things to help you back into the real world and not lose too much time into the those awful mobile games.

  26. Just finished this game at 130 hours. @TurboR56Mini mentioned I should post.. even though I have been silent for a good while lol. Here's the thing, I loved BioWare.. Dragon Age Origins was a breath of fresh air to me. My enjoyment of the Dragon Age series is what got me to pick up Mass Effect. These two franchises are near and dear to my heart. So, the hate that Veilguard gets based on trailers? I get it. It's not what any of us expected or wanted... and it just further shows how much EA continues to destroy game studios. EA is why we got the failures of Anthem and Andromeda. Veilguard being in production for 10 years? That's EA written all over it. The game got rebooted numerous times. That said, what was released? Is it good? It is. Is it the same caliber of DAO or DAI? Absolutely not. Remember the nonsense of DA2? Veilguard is probably what DA2 would have been if DA2 wasn't rushed. The gameplay is enjoyable (minus the annoyance/QOL issue with respeccing your character outside a boss fight/needing to reload a save to do it). The story is decent. Can the final act make up for the rest of the Veilguard story? Maybe? Depends on how you look at it. I took this as a farewell to Dragon Age. It wraps up so many story threads. I applaud the writers for keeping such major parts of the lore under wraps for so long. I would say, just play it to finish Solas's character arc. The secret ending is an opening to more Dragon Age... if EA allows BioWare to do what they do best... and not meddle in what they do. If you don't get the secret ending, no harm. Treat this game as what it probably was intended to be --> a farewell to the world that BioWare started with DAO. The graphics are a bit cartoony.. but don't let it deter you. I had to remind myself that the reason why I never picked up DAO when it was released was because of the terrible graphics, but I ended up enjoying it. Get past the graphics... get into the story. The elves look odd. The Qunari look too nice. But everything else seems to mostly work. The writing isn't the quality we expect from BioWare in their golden age. The voice actors do the best they can. I think if they didn't need to keep scrapping the game and starting over because EA would dictate demands, this wouldn't be an issue. The ending was fleshed out long ago, hence the final act being the quality we expected and worth it. For those who somehow are pissed about it having a non-binary character and saying "go woke, go broke" about this game... if this bothers you, then you weren't paying attention to everything else going on in Thedas... or fantasy... or comic books. DA has always had diverse characters. And, DA has always had political and social commentary (so has Marvel and DC and Star Trek and Star Wars and numerous other things we all enjoy). Bottom line for this game: It's good. Is it GOTY good? Absolutely not. But, it's good. I agree with @Luseth that this is probably a 7.5 out of 10. I will probably replay it to get other interesting tidbits about the lore based on Rook's character and choices... and even the Inquisitor choices.

  29. I think the gaming scene is more turning into what we as consumers can do with existing titles to be creative with them. In an era of gorging content seems to be the socially acceptable thing to do, when its the exact opposite of how game developers want you to play it, I think its the only way forward. That, and a lot more indie B or C titles because no one is patient enough to wait 7 years for a video game to be developed these days. That being said, i'm looking forward to the Winter as I think there are enough MP games for us to be able to have fun gaming nights across a ton of games. Some underrated ones have been out for a while and are worth playthroughs with friends. Baldurs Gate 3, Sea of Thieves, Space Marine 2 to name a few. Even Helldivers 2 which has largely dropped off the larger playerbase is a solid game that has lots of game nights where many here would really enjoy. Spreading yourself across a few titles will also remove that silly feeling of needing to complete a whole game in 12 minutes. I'm really enjoying pacing myself through the new Astrobot game as its not a huge game so I want to enjoy the content whenever I put it on. Glass half-full. Especially with FGers is my summary.

    Dungeons & Dragons Recap

D&D Story so far Session 1 - So the story began with Arn the bear berserker, Dravaram the Dragonborn warlock & Brock the Cleric coming together in a local inn. There they ate and drank before retiring to their rooms with little incident other than a local man giving the barmaid some hassle. Before all too long a commotion wakes them up, at first no one chooses to do anything but as it grew louder Brock decides to venture down to the main room of the inn to find out what the commotion is. There he finds the man from earlier (known as Sven) hassling the barmaid again with 2 of his cronies. At this Brock canโ€™t stand idly by and intervenes only to end up in a tavern brawl, only this brawl was short lived and ended up with 3 dead men with Dravaram and Arn coming to join the fight as it reached itโ€™s midpoint. On saving the barmaid Brock finds the young girl in a state of awe and for some reason wanting him to make an advance on her but he chose against it. The local innkeep deals with the mess and alerts the local guard. Upon hearing this the next day the local guard approaches the small group at breakfast and fires a few questions at them before requesting they go and deal with a local cultist group nearby. The three went to the local store, bought some flammable items and then went off to find the cultists. It was dark by this point and all 3 were initially hesitant before Brock for some bizarre reason decided to just waltz into camp. He was quickly shepherded by guards to their leader. It turns out the cultists worship some snake like god and snakes and as it looked like Brock was going to meet his fate he used some thurmaturgy spell to make his eyes snake like and he shouted at the leader. This led to a challenge, a fight to the death between the 2. Expecting this to bloody battle Brock went on the offensive with an inflict wounds spell, this went surprisingly well and he killed the cultist leader in 1 hit. At this stage he was then being worshipped by the cult and again he found himself with some attractive ladies that he could have his way with, again he turned it down to the dungeon masterโ€™s dismay. Session 2 โ€“ This began where we left off previous, Brock in a tent with 2 attractive ladies and Arn & Dravaram deciding what to do beyond the treeline, not really know what had occurred in side. Arn in his concern charged into the camp and caused chaos closely followed by Dravaram who set half the camp on fire. Then it turned into a bloody battle with Brock choosing to side with the 2 he had met at the inn rather than his new found cult. During the battle a bollock naked dragon born berserker called Breadbin joined the fray not really knowing how he had gotten there and what was going on he was hesitant at first before siding with our little group. The trip back to town found all 4 being rewarded. Session 3 โ€“ This found our group coming across Barm and Lavender, the latter quickly became Arnโ€™s love of his life and he attempted to woo her with flowers and such. The pair hired our little group to join them on a quest to find some dragon treasure, with Arnโ€™s infatuation the 3 agreed and began to prepare for the journey ahead. On returning to Lavender with the flowers he had found, Lavender in her training turned and chopped the heads off the flowers to Arnโ€™s despair. While this was all going on it was assumed Breadbin had slept in that day and just not bothered to emerge from his room. Session 4 - The next day the journey began, Arn took the lead straight out of the gate and unfortunately made a fool out of himself as he tripped down some large potholes and found Barmโ€™s cart roll over him. Another moment for Arn to look foolish in front of Lavender. The rest of the day seemed rather quiet until Brock then took the group on a long detour and they found a cave to go and rest in. The hired group went to search the cave with Arn charging in without fear only to fall into a rather large hole, a trap. Set by our very own Calamere the 2nd, he seemed intent on setting fire to this huge bear that had just found itโ€™s way into his little camp only to hold back as Brock and Dravaram entered the cave. A little conversation and in the end Barm decided to hire Calamere as an additional mercenary to this group to go and find the treasure. All the while Arn had been left in the cave and Lavenderโ€™s frustrations continued to grow with him. Night passed with conversations occurring, the dragonborns deciding to stick together, Brock trying to give Arn some advice about not running head first into tasks or caves etc and Calamere for some reason being trusted to hold the 3rd watch on his own. The 3rd watch however led to a group of unsavoury types attacking the camp. It took Calamere some time but he did eventually decide to call out to the group to help him rather than take them on, on his own. This group was swiftly dispatched and the rest of the night allowed for some proper rest. Session 6 โ€“ This led the group towards the swamp where the dragonโ€™s treasure was meant to be. It wasnโ€™t long before an arrow struck Brock, fired from a ranger hidden in the treeโ€™s (sorry Matt I canโ€™t recall his name). The ranger had been tracking some unsavoury types, the very oneโ€™s the group had killed the night before. Again Barm hired this extra help after some short conversation around the dead people he had been hunting. With the group larger now they trekked on, for some confidence was high at having a larger group to deal with what was to come but for others questions started to amount around Barm and Lavender. What were they really after? It wasnโ€™t long before they reached the cave and were soon to find out. The cave was defended by some small dragon guard creature. A battle occurred with Lavender getting knocked out of play, the guard however did not provide too much of a threat with a 5 v 1 fight being too much for it. On exploring the cave some of the questions from the newer members began to bubble to the surface. Questions around Barm and what he was really after and why. On reaching the large cavern at the end the remains of the dragon was found, a wealth of treasure and his scaled body largely in tact. Barm cast his ritual to take the heart from the body while the group looked at the treasure and before too long became interested in what Barm was doing. Barm finally got the dragon heart but at this point cast a spell to freeze our group, he had always intended to take the heart but the group still had no idea what for. At this he told them they could still take what they wanted and motioned for Lavender to leave with him. This is where it took a turn, as she went to leave she took a dagger, retrieved from Calamere earlier that day and plunged it into the frozen Arn, deep into his heart. The look of glee on her face suggested she really enjoyed it, it was personal. Arn being frozen could not scream out and could not fight back. Then Barm and Lavender were gone. This is where we begin our next sessionโ€ฆ.

  31. So I had not picked this up as intended originally and have now finally bought it with it coming out on consoles. It isn't cheap mind but I have a bit of a void at the moment in that a lot of games aren't quite capturing my attention and I am waiting for a couple to be released. So picking this up and so far it's every part the MMO however it's quite pretty, the story seem's decent so far and I am quite enjoying it, you can see where it take's it's inspiration from mind. As I put a few more hours in I will provide a more detailed write up but just thought I would open up the conversation and see if anyone else has played this at all?

  33. Looking back we were in a state of transition, moving away from 16 bit graphics to experience our first forray into 3d. A lot of the 3d models were blockish and certainly would not hold up well today, heck it's not often you see someone make a 90s style game but people do keep going back to our 16 bit era. So, are there any games you remember fondly? For me it'ss the obvious final fantasy games, but in addition to that I always remember fighting force. Spending a lot of time on streets of rage when I was younger I suppose this was the sort of game that evolved from them, walking around 3d levels beating the crap out of people. So, are there any that you remember fondly?

  34. Halo 3 and the original MW2 was probably my heyday in FPS - young enough to both have the time to play silly hours of it and the reaction time also. Though the game I was best at, probably a shock to no-one, is Gran Turismo sport. I've put a lot of time in to other GT games and countless other racing games but GT Spot was the one I probably got the fastest and consistently fast in due to the FG leagues meant I played it the most.

  37. Dortmund 0-2 Real in the Champions League Final. First half was very entertaining and Dortmund were excellent but you always knew those missed chances and overall dominance would come back to haunt them. Took Real 70 minutes to get going and once they got the first one it was game over. Should've never taken off Adeyemi for Reus as that's when their attacking threat was erased and Reus is basically the Harry Kane-luck equivalent when it comes to winning things. Dortmund must really hate Wembley now - two Champions League finals and two defeats to Spurs there in 11 years๐Ÿคฃ

  41. Sony are already removing paid products and shutting content servers down plus you also have the likes of Ubisoft even revoking licences and making games totally inaccessible so all in all, several games in the last decade have become unplayable. Some titles even require day one downloads to function because the disc is incomplete and about as useful as a paperweight. If a game has a single player component and can play out of the box then it's fine but there will be many titles that will become wholly unplayable. Thankfully most of the modern shite isn't even worth treasuring which is why 99% of my games are digital now and I couldn't care less. Don't think I'll have the urge to visit The Crew 2 in 15 years time. I think after the PS3/XB360 era when physical media died and live service took over, that's when I stopped giving a toss. It's also the time the industry changed for the worse.

  42. Being born in 1993 I didnโ€™t have too much time with video games in the 90โ€™s. That being said, I did have a game boy and a Dreamcast. So I would have to say Pokemon Red/Blue for me, with a shoutout to SoulCalibur too!
