  1. Steve, I've let it to go on for a few messages but the derail of this thread stops here. I'll also hide the messages in a few days because contrary to what you said above, this place has changed for the better, very much so, in all departments. We make a real difference to people's lives now, not just in gaming terms. Years ago maybe less so, but there's unequivocal evidence (and a bucket load of it) now that backs that statement up. The fantastic and really valuable posts in this thread alone should be the ones having more airtime than a direct response/attack to a person after they replied with a critique to the book you were talking about, not yourself.

    Server Rules!

Well, none of us thought it'd come to this but here we are, so read, obey, or face the music (Diddums will be fed extra alcohol on punishment night, pick your battles carefully). 1: You WILL stick to these rules. They are not negotiable, don't embarrass yourself with ifs and buts (lol butts). Failure to stick to these rules will result in consequences. 2: Respect other players and their property. If you destroy someone else's stuff intentionally, you will suffer. If you destroy something by mistake, then apologise and make it up to them. Or... you know, suffer. 3: Questing - When questing on someone else's quest, they get priority over loot and stuff. This means no dashing to the fancy boxes and nicking everything for yourself. If it's your quest, then have at it, both barrels. 4: When other people are placing blocks, you will not upgrade them unless asking for permission. Upgrading blocks is a lot of XP for those who do it, which is why we do it. Want the XP, build your own blocks you utter blockhead. 5: Logging off - No logging off right before horde night, it's not fair on others to log on and instantly have to tool up. 6: You MUST post in the 7 Days Discord channel that you're a big fat turkey looking for a fight. This will mean you've read the rules and we all get to laugh at you. 7: Contribute to the server. If you can make something that nobody else can't, then share it. You'll be given all that you need to craft it, but offer to help others and spend a few minutes hooking your fellow survivors up. 8: No robbing chests. Leave enough stuff for others, or ask if you can take it. This applies primarily to consumables like ammo, food and drinks. 9: No planting trees close to any bases, this ruins peoples' framerates and you'll be sick to death of me and my chainsaw before you know it. 10: If someone says they're looking for stuff, then keep an eye out. No need to go on the actual hunt, but keep your eyes peeled whilst looting / trading. 11: Looting - When looting stuff, then loot EVERYTHING. Loot will not respawn in containers that have been semi looted, so take everything and drop the stuff on the floor if you don't want it so it can despawn, and the container can respawn more loot. Have fun, have gun, shoot zombie, collect bacon, the end. See you online you naughty little scamps you.

  3. I've hidden them all, firstly I'll apologise as I was cranky as hell last night and my response was in no way indicative of how I like FG to be perceived, so let me be the first to apologise. Secondly this place is a home for some, a family for others and an amazing circle of friends for everyone and posts like the ones I've hidden aren't in any way indicative of the ethos of FG so as I always like to say: Fuck all that shit, let's crack on.

  4. I think when there sounds like a lot of content the problem with these live games, not just Destiny, is that they always 'carry on' so in some ways you sub-consciously think you have to keep playing. Where in actual fact they've been pretty clear now to remind players that other games do exist. They know their generic playerbase is far better served when they play a few nights a week which stops the burnout, like you've felt once again as all you've played over November and December is this. I'm rank 7 I think on Dares and haven't done many at all. I have to remind myself sometimes as i see everyone else grinding it like it goes tomorrow, that this content isn't going anywhere and i'm much better served in doing it when I want to or the pull is there to enjoy a few runs with a 6 stack of FGers. I haven't really played any PvP in the last month either so i'll feel okay when I go back to it knowing i haven't burnt out on one of the major core playlists. Raids will always be fun and never boring. Especially if we also keep rotating trying out raids each week, which has been happening here too. I'd urge people not to do any prep work over and above just getting close to the current power cap this season ahead of Witch Queen. Its clear the most fun from all DLCs come from just experiencing everything when it drops rather than blasting through it all in 24 hours. I want to get into a habit of doing more Dungeons too, I think many of us here miss out on all the RAD content which is mainly the best content it has to offer.

  5. I just lost interest in general. I played the hell out of Destiny over the last month or so, smashing out every quest I could followed by some ridiculous catalysts (Cryosthesia gets a special mention, what a tedious grindfest) and then started looking at the game as a whole. I don't care for the baking bollocks so just ignored that, crucible has been ruined with the latest changes and the new dares thing is just the same 5 minutes over and over. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the grind and as a former WoW addict never shy away from them but Bungie's just taking the piss now, I'm starting to wonder how much of Destiny is a game, and how much is meant as a social experiment to see how repetitive they can make their game before people sack them off. I'll still hop on for raids and whatnot, but I'm just burned out with the rest of it.

  6. It's been a couple of years since we got a new map but Lighthouse has finally arrived and is dropping this afternoon. So glad I'm on holiday now as it means I'll have plenty of time for it🙂

  7. What are peoples thoughts? I am enjoying it so far, probably not as much as The Mandalorian, but it feels distinct enough to not feel like a retread. I am hoping we see more of him facing some bounty hunters in the coming episodes. Also wondering if we get any flashbacks of further in the past

Well said. I can’t wait for season 5, gonna be interesting where it goes from here. I don’t want to type spoilers here for people that haven’t seen it yet, but I’m excited for sure.

i started it way back when it first aired and while i was a fan of the movies i wasn't a diehard too, now having almost finished the 4th season i can say that this is one of the best if not the best sequel of anything visual in a long time if ever and it came out almost 40 years later, yes it's not groundbreaking, it won't be praised by scorcese etc by it's good and faithful to the characters and respects both old and new fans, johhny lawrence's arc has been great so far

  12. @phil bottle, do you think this game could ever work on a console at all? It has such a good following and looks really inviting but I worry that i would want to use a controller rather than M&K with this and i'm not sure it works well with the stuff you pick up, etc.

  14. This was exactly the point I was getting at, it's not a bad mode but when youve done over a hundred runs it is dull and repetitive. Unless I see a use for getting catalyst kills I'm done with that mode. As Bob says I'd have cut back way before if I hadn't fixated on the rank 16 requirements.

    7 Days - a new chapter

Drones! I can make Level 3 drones! Or 4. I can't remember what level I dumped some points into. We will be on again tonight, but probably after everyone else because we won't be on until 5pm ET... I'll try to log on with Carl during lunch for a few moments to repair the horde building for the upcoming horde night.

  17. My issue with it was the crazy grind to get to rank 16, Bungie are fixated on this stupid 'streak' system for vendor xp. So having ground out about 60 completions I've had my fill - I know I didnt have to do that, but given the rank will likely reset in 6 weeks time, the only way to hit 16 is to grind like hell. Cant even argue its just cosmetics - the catalyst to foerunner is tied to rank 16 as well. As a game mode i actually quite enjoyed it, and it has a few decent weapons tied to it for roll-chasing. So i think its a good addition, just the streak system is a very bad idea - the beauty of Destiny is its variety, you would think Bungie themselves understand that. They need to look at stats for the players who've played the game mode exclusively to get to 16, then either burnt out and dropped off, or never touched the game mode again !

  22. A new type of book I wasn't aware existed. It's a detective book where you need to work out the answer. So far I've used my brain, Google Maps and Google Search to work out the correct answers. Turning out to be pretty fun and I'm going to look at getting one called Journal 29, made by the same person.

  24. I tried out the new map yesterday, it's excellent. There's no official map online I can check so I'm going off some reddit posts to find out where the extractions are. The game doesn't tell you, you have to find out for yourself. Tarkov is like that. So, I'm playing against AI only while I learn it, and it's pretty big. Also, as there's been a wipe, I'm back to level 1, so my strength and stamina are pretty poor right now. Also I forgot two massive changes with this patch. 1. Inertia. The game was already the most hardcore shooter experience out there and now it is even better. I had my doubts but it seems adding inertia has removed any final traces of it feeling like a 'shooter'. Slow and deliberate is Tarkov. 2. VOIP. Glad they finally added this. I think it will change the experience, possibly less nerve racking now you're not fighting silent ghosts but people. Anyone abusing it get banned and everyone knows Battlestate games don't mess around on that score. They love a good ban.
