  1. I'm a glass half full kind of person but an asset flip game is an asset flip game... To be fair their asset flipping started with their advertising, which is what got everyone excited in the first place 😆

Ok so one problem with the poll is that I can either limit it to one selection per person, or unlimited selections. The other thing is that it’s limited to 20 games. Easy solutions: ask everyone to limit their picks to 5 and trust that everyone will stick to that. Also, if more than 20 games are nominated, then the games with the least nominations will have to miss out. Most votes wins! If there are multiple games with the same amount of votes then that will be fine, unless it is tied for top spot. My suggestion would then be that a final poll is created to decide the winner. If still a tie, then that will have to be the outcome! Does this sound good to everyone? It keeps it on the forum/site rather than an external survey website. What is the best way to reach as many members as possible to vote? Can we add something to the articles page, or is there a way to send a notification to everyone? Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions so far, hopefully this will be fun and a success!

    Starfield

Another Bethesda developer goes off on a 15 Tweet tirade against customers Starfield design director calls out unfair game criticism: 'Don't fool yourself into thinking you know why it is the way it is' | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Emil Pagliarulo says an awful lot of outspoken critics are "disconnected" from the realities of game development. Apparently as gamers aren't qualified developers, they have no grounds to complain. So basically people that go to restaurants and are sold cold, raw or poor quality meals aren't allowed to complain because they aren't qualified chefs🤣 Bethesda really need to take the hit and learn from it. The amount of damage control against credible criticisms of paying customers is insane along with the disrespectful remarks and approach. People are really gonna tire of them at this rate.

  4. Just a thinking point. Perhaps if they were getting paid 'fuck all' like they did 'back in the day', they wouldn't be getting as injured as much because they'd have more to lose? I think it's probably just down to the way every tweek or niggle is micromanaged nowadays. And how they're treated as precious cargo which would play into your idea that waiting around for VAR causes injuries 😂

  6. I don't whether to be proud or weirded out that Call of Duty was my biggest game, and of every month in 2023 too. Destiny not even in my top 5, which is kind of disappointing on a personal note, only because it shows how much the game dropped in 2023. Couldn't believe that Hogwarts, a single player game was 3rd with just over 100 hours of playtime. I absolutely loved it and for a hard year to overcome, it was great to zone out and focus on so many little objectives in the game. Rocket League was number 5 and its incredible that game keeps on having playtime. Best Playstation Plus game they've given to us. And now I can be Lightning McQueen. There is a God.

  7. A reserve is exactly what we need! And as @Luseth said feel free to jump in the party whenever you're free! As @GazzaGarratt said I'm trying to put up events as frequently as possible which should give you a small understanding of people coming online that night.

  8. I do love how we called this a scam a year ago and saw what was coming. I'm surprised a big publisher hasn't seen the excitement generated for a game like this and done their own version. Capitalism L in so many ways 🤪

  9. Yeah FG's home is here. And not everyone uses WhatsApp, so the forum is the place for reaching members 🖤

I think people here are should be able to limit their picks to 5 ^_^ As for reaching members, when you set it up there is a whatsapp group @GazzaGarratt not sure if Welchy has had an invite to it? That might be the best way, just drop the link into the whatsapp announcements maybe?

GOTY for me is the same as it's been for probably 5 years now - Rocket league Entirely unhelpful, for the poll I know. Not sure why I haven't been able to get into any new games at all for such a long time.

Tell everyone to nominate 5 games, let it run for a week or so, and then tally up the most common ones and create a poll. If you need any support with this let me know, happy to help out.

    Game of the Year

Thanks @Diddums that’s really helpful. I’ve had a quick play with it and the more I think about it, I’m not sure a poll is the best way to do this? I personally think it would work best if everyone submitted their top 5 or 10 games in a list, rather than everyone just picking one game. That way we can have a proper list and countdown of our top 5 or 10 games. Aware that not everyone would have played 10 or more games that released this year so thought maybe 5 would be better? Was going to use a scoring system like this: 1st place: 5 points 2nd place: 4 points 3rd place: 3 points 4th place: 2 points 5th place: 1 point With a poll I wouldn’t be able to determine the ranking of everyone’s picks. It’s still doable, just less fair in my opinion? If the preference is to keep it on this site rather than an external survey, I would be happy for everyone to message me their lists if that would work? Let me know your thoughts, really keen to get this to work well for everyone and seems to be something we all want to do!

This sounds like a fantastic idea, you have my full support. For creating polls, when you create a new topic there should be a tab like this: I'm not sure how to hide the results, I've just had a look around the admin panel and it's not a standard feature of the software so I'll have a look around and see if there's a plugin or something for it.

    Fortnite

I've enjoyed trying to go back to this, especially quests wise but can't deny its been overwhelming seeing the homepage (does look more like roblox now) and also been took apart in trio/dup games more than i expected. I think switching from FPS CoD to 3rd person Fortnite hasn't been as seamless as I it was a few years ago! Still willing to keep at it, only on zero build to stay away from the twitchy instant builder players. 😄

  21. I think footballers aren't made of what they used to be. Owen did an interview with Simon Jordan, got ridiculed for his Apple in the bin part, which was quite funny watching it back. However, he said something that in his way didn't sound quite right but the underlying sentiment isn't probably far off. He said you don't need to be good anymore to be a premiership player, you just need to be able to be an athlete. I do think you need the skills and ability but I do think there's some truth in that footballers are designed from an early age to be as fit as you possibly can be and the fitness and conditioning work they do is not built from making them durable. These days, they have the thinnest socks and boots you'd find and they wonder how many people break toes, etc. But they want them to 'feel' the football like its an extension of your foot. Its the way the game has evolved that makes it this way now. Not sure it'll turn the other way as its more entertainment than pure football these days. Money will play its part too. If you earn an absolutely ridiculous amount, which they all do at that level, the back of their head will sometimes say don't push it, gotta be 100% fit otherwise kiss goodbye to a career of that money that won't last forever. Injuries have killed us yet again. Its unbelievable that somehow we've been inconsistently crap but only 2 points off teh playoffs still. Quality is not there this year in the Championship.

  22. It's got nothing to do with how much they're paid, although that's a whole conversation by itself. Blokes used to play professional football for fuck all back in the day, we play football because we love it and that's its own reward. I think longer game time, plus all the VAR stopping games and waiting around for decisions probably tightens muscles etc

  23. Yeah I imagine it's a combination of over training and too long game-time. Although I'm pretty sure someone will try and say it's because of wokeness 😅🤣

    The Day Before [SCAM]

Fortunately I didn't buy it 😛 I was hopeful, partially because I do like to have a more positive view on things ^_^ I mean though this was a scam you could argue a lot of games are these days with the way some of them launch and the way publishers promote them.

  25. Dunno really, we're (Spurs) not in any cup competitions, so not that many games, yet still lots of injuries. Maybe the Fergie Time at the end of every game now is contributing?

  27. @Luseth, I usually put updates of key threads on there, so happy to do this when its ready - obviously the more ppl share FG threads too, the better. 🙂 Anyone can join the WhatsApp community by just messaging me, not a problem. I don't push it anywhere because obviously people aren't all on it and this is the home of FG that people need to keep checking in (plus its not really for gaming talk, as its just banter crap you wouldn't put on here).

  40. The game has been taken down from sale now and the 'developers' have begun scrubbing from existence. 201,000 copies sold and almost 92,000 refunds issued prior to Fntastic's closure. Very bizarre situation - whilst I did expect them to pull the plug early, I didn't foresee if occurring before Valve released the money to them. This opens the doors for store-wide no questions asked refunds back to anyone who bought the game irrespective of the existing refund policy and the developers likely wont even see a penny of the almost $3m holding. For them to quit before the first pay packet suggests either Valve were holding them to guarantees for a conditional release of the funds or they didn't want to embroil themselves in legality down the line. The evidence against them is beyond overwhelming and damning. IGN have also just released their review for the final kick in the teeth- first time I've seen them award a 1/10🤣 The Day Before Early Access Review - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Easily one of the worst games of 2023.

Great point, sorry still quite new here and haven’t used all the features! Had a quick look at the polls page and couldn’t see how to set one up, might be missing it or don’t know if I need to be given permission? Is there a way to make the results private so only I can see? Think it would make it much more interesting if no one had any idea what game won until it’s announced?!

  45. You might find the polls on FG abit easier to capture everyone's thoughts like @Riff Machine says - mainly because people will be here viewing posts and threads more so than external links. Happy to see what everyone else thinks.

    Game of the Year

Sounds like there is definitely enough interest to do this! I will set up a survey for everyone to fill out, but I will wait a few weeks before sending it. This will give everyone a few weeks over the Christmas break to catch up or finish any games on their backlog (I know I have a few I want to get to), that way we will get a more complete list. I will send the survey around the 30th/31st December, and will leave it open for a week to allow for people to see it and fill it out. Il hopefully then be able to share the final standings and the video a week or so later! Hopefully that sounds like a good plan to everyone, let me know if you think there’s a better way. Should I send the survey earlier and leave it open longer? I like the idea of adding an award for each FG forum category @Riff Machine , so I will add those to the survey too!

Chapter 5 out now. Didn't enjoy the OG season just gone too much, so I'm happy to see the new map and physics back. Might stick an event up over Christmas for some Royal games. I only play no-build however, haven't got enough time to bother trying to learn how to build like these 12 year olds can 🤣
