Rocket League
GazzaGarratt and one other reacted to crippled_viper for a topic
Been playing some Rocket League with others. But I was able to capture this. *To add links into the post is not loading a video. Not sure why this keeps happening for me. But I haven't had it work yet.2 points -
So I just put some brief thoughts in the whatsapp but generally it is just amalgamation of just previous games, ui from the last game, perks from the one before and maps from 10 years ago (albeit snazzied up a bit). I think it sums up though the problem with these titles in that they have gotten comfortable with call of duty, it's a bit like fifa, no need to try something new or innovate really, people will continue to buy the game why create anything new. Let's just take things from previous games and release it as a full title, I find that really shitty to be honest. That aside, yeah it's fine and plays like a typical COD. I think the only reason I am contemplating picking it up is because I have a group of friends that play zombies and they are contemplating getting this one and I would quite like to play more games with them again (I used to play a lot of battlefield with them). If it was just for the multiplayer element I am not really sure I would bother with it and find it a little absurd that it will probably sell quite well for that alone.2 points

Starfield
Riff Machine and one other reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
I managed to play Starfield again upon borrowing an Xbox for a couple of weeks recently and the more I played, the more I actually think this is shockingly bad game from Bethesda. I did try and give it a chance this time in the comfort away from a refund prospect but if anything, it just exposed even more woes I didn't like. Firstly, I think they got the entire design wrong - they should've had 5 varied planets the size of New Vegas and focused on them with galaxy wars, internal factions and interplanetary travel. This would've provided a much more focused experience especially for a Bethesda RPG. Starfield was ultimately built off the back of No Mans Sky's hype and ambitions and it's clear Bethesda didn't capacity or philosophy to pull this off anywhere close especially with an outdated engine, developer skill and a lack of algorithmic depth. The story is absolute shite and it is so unbelievably safe and uninspired. NPC's and factions merely exist to provide exposition and narrative continuation but other than that, the NPC's stand still in the same places morning, noon and night. In Obsidian's New Vegas, NPC's had routines and if you had to speak to one, you actually had to locate them - they could be shopping, socialising, working, asleep, in a battle or just wandering the land. In Starfield you see the same characters sitting in the same chairs or standing around doing nothing 24/7. NPC interactions not having facial animations is utterly pathetic especially if you're coming from Baldur's Gate 3 which has over 170 hours of cutscenes and houses every possible dialogue outcome and character emotion imaginable. Starfield took a year longer to produce and it's just lazy and outdated in such crucial aspects like this. Even the character models look dreadful. The dialogue itself carries as much depth as Fallout 4 and is about as dull as the story. This design style is beyond unacceptable now especially for a game in development for 7 years like RDR2. Exploration is a joke - each planet having a few points of interest and the process in between is littered with immersion breaking loading screens and cutscenes. Every 'unexplored' planet has clearly been explored and houses evidence of life and even life itself so what is the point in going to all these places if they are all the same and you do the same stuff? Loot, shoot, rinse and repeat. They would've been far better off across the board sticking to 3-5 planets in one galaxy for a more crafted 'world'. In the end I had to stop playing. The game was beyond boring and turning into a chore. I love Bethesda but they got this spectacularly wrong right off the bat and it clearly impacted their design. I think this is their worst title to date and I fear for any future games until they radically change their approach and update their internal architecture.2 points -

I'm really enjoying the ship building, I've built some really neat ones for different purposes. An auto turret exploration ship, a massive cargo ship for base building, a battle frigate, and a mining ship. Takes a lot of skill points to get all the cool shit, still unlocking high end parts as I go, lvl 40 now, 100 or so hours in.2 points -

I worry for them that it still won't get enough traction when it does come out. Maybe some on PC, but I doubt they will be able to crack the console market with this.1 point -
I managed one game before the beta ended. Being able to run around with quiet footsteps instantly made the game more fun than MW2. I can now flank successfully and got quite a few kills from behind which simply isn't possible in MW2. I thought I'd hate the TTK but it didn't bother me. Then again I was using the UMP45 on Favela so I don't know what will happen on a map with longer sight lines. There were a couple of coked up, bunny hopping sweats on the other team. Why play like that in a Beta? I just laughed.1 point

MW3 beta first impressions
IRaMPaGe reacted to cyberninja2601 for a topic
I played and got myself to level 20. I am not sure to be honest The movement is too much like a jack rabbit that is high on crack. Running like crazy everywhere and just too quick The TTK was pretty bad for me. I would unload an entire clip into 2 opponent and then die reloading because I needed so much ammo to kill anything The kill streaks were rather Meh. I ended up playing with SAM, Counter, VTOL or whatever it was. The guns were nothing spectacular. The LMG was just garbage I did like the maps and if they were just to offer this as a map pack for MWII + Zombies I would be quite happy I didn't get a chance to use the sniper riffle much. With the super fast movement is rather difficult to get a good shot unless they are coming right at you The perk system was interesting. Not sure about it yet but I have not complaints. However I didn't get to play it much since one of the vest unlocks at level 19 I believe and the last one does not I did play on PSN and unlike other games the connection was pretty good. I will give the XBOX a chance this next Beta and see if it plays better, same or worse before choosing a platform Skidrow, Favela and rust were fun. Estate just seem to big for guns we had. I could hit the target just fine but I couldn't down anything. Won't be a problem once we have all the guns I assume1 point -

So I am only going to talk briefly about clubs but talking to Lee yesterday he asked if I could run through things for the new game so just a bit of a summary of things I have noticed on the new clubs - - So the Volta store is still somewhat linked to clubs but has a little more content this time around, I wouldn't be surprised if they reuse assets from the previous game down the road and add a few more but as far as customisation goes there are a few more options in some of the categories such as facial hair options, new masks and you can wear glasses. - So building out your pro's attributes and skills, they have brought in playstyles, these are in addition to the archetype so might enhance your speed further, might improve your finesse shot or things like that. So you get silver playstyles and then golden onces which enhance those stats even further i.e. you can have rapid which improves sprint speed and dribbling and then rapid+ which improves it even more. - Levelling seem's to be taking a while, I am at an 81 rating at the moment despite being level 27 ^_^ - So the leagues have changed and I am still getting my head around it a little, so you play seasons like we traditionally would and when you win a set number of matches you then move up a league, it starts in division 5. How things differ on this game, you don't get a trophy for moving up a league. What happens is at a certain date, so the next one is 3rd November you then get put into play off's, this sort of takes the place of cups I think. This is where you get put in a mini league with 9 other teams from the same division as you. You then can play up to 10 games for that play off session in the week and you have to try and get maximum points and score higher than the other teams in your league. So based on how well you do in the play offs provides your club with a number of rewards, these can include volta coins for you to spend on pro customisation (which would suggest more things to come to the Volta store down the road?), a trophy if you achieve mid table or higher (bronze, silver, gold) and then "fans". The quantity of fans you club has affects your club customisation which I will go into next. So there are 10 levels of customisation and they unlock based on the quantity of fans you have. - Customisation of the club requires you to level up to unlock customisations and then you can apply tifo's, stadium bundles (themes), pitch trophy and selecting your home stadium. I imagine more stadium bundles might come down the road as that seems a little underwhelming at this point.1 point -

@Mikepjbell added the Jordan logos in to the dropbox link in the OP. I've added; Full logo with the bee and the "handwritten" Jordan underneath with full outlines The Bee logo and Jordan logo separate with full outline (so yellow Jordan, black outline and then white outline) I've also included the Jordan logo with only a black outline and with no outline too. Hopefully this covers all bases but if you want some other combo with or without outlines let me know.1 point -

That's the video I went straight to. I can see what he means about the maps but I disagree but then I'm pretty vocal on the state of modern maps so I'm at least looking forward to those maps and as I've spent so much time on shipment and shoothouse I can't see them getting boring. On the flip side the modern cod community can seriously ruin any experience 😁 One thing tho if this game is solid I can finally delete mw2 22 off my ps5....no doubt will need the space.1 point

They look good but as Ace said in his video there is a chance that they will get boring very quickly. They'll be good for new COD players but not for veterans.1 point

Still no release and we're creeping into MW3 territory now. If they don't get it out within the next 2 weeks then the only viable release window would be around March to May next year. Not sure what's happened after the beta phase - everything has gone awfully quiet and news has stalled somewhat. Releasing it now and it could very well with DOA or on life support in 8 weeks time. They really should've got this out in July.1 point -

I'm not gonna bother with the beta but I'll keep a close eye on things regardless. They really need to address any connection/netcode issues urgently because that could be a gamebreaker right off the bat. The Finals had similar issues - great game and concept but combat ruined by horseshit technical issues. They've gone back to the drawing board with that. This game needs to be ready to go before the next COD and offer ideally a nice alternative to Counter Strike 2 which is expected to be highly polished and fluid with significant new tech in play. No release date here which is a worry and this beta phase cannot drag especially with glaring basic problems. The devs have worked to hard to fall at the first hurdle.1 point -

The Finals had similar issues and something like that could prove so pivotal, it could literally kill the game right from the off. Players are less tolerant against this nowadays because of the competitive edge these games have plus there are several other smoother and responsive titles which are far more satisfying and fair to play. Even after Siege, Ubisoft don't really have a competent and/or proven engine that can support arcade-based FPS titles so I hope they can address any netcode woes before launch. Hopefully it's not tied heavily to the engine or users frame rates else it will be a disaster for the game.1 point -
