MrBiron reacted to Luseth in Sony say "fuck consumer choice. We want all of the money!" .
That's not accurate I don't believe is it? Quite a lot of games still contain a full game albeit without day 1 patches. You generally install the game from it and play from your hard drive admittedly and I think live service games also skew the figures. For example Ratchet and Clank Rift apart, Astro Bot, God of war ragnorok, Spiderman 2 could all be installed and played with just your console and the physical game from start to finish without ever needing an internet connection. The games that do generally follow the practice of a disc being just a download key are typically your Fifa's and Call of Duty's, companies that you would not really be surprised by this. The majority of game 'sales' now are also likely to be live service games which are generally only bought digitally, your fortnites, your Warzones and such which are also notably free and what I think is a big thing is they are not showing what their breakdown is, I suspect DLC's, micro transactions and such may also figure into their figures. Single player titles are much closer to 50% physical and 50% digital sales.
15% of all new game sales are still bought brand new and physical, that is quite a chunk of your fan base to alienate. It also does not include second hand sales so that percentage could be skewed the wrong way. All this is targeting is maximising profit and nothing today with improving things generally. Oh look at us we are doing this because we are following sales trends when in reality it's losing second hand game sales, it's the cost of manufacturing the disc, the case and paying someone to create art for it or layout the casing, the cost of transporting etc etc, all that will now go into the profit that they are making, it's not suddenly going to see a price drop of £5 on each game say because they are all now digital.
I get that the trend is currently towards digital only however I don't think you will see the same moral compass from Sony as we have with say Valve, only this week have they also said that many user's won't be able to watch a number of digital films that they have bought and paid for on their consoles. With that in mind if they can do that with any digital content (which their T's & C's allow) there is also the preservation argument whereby we could see games literally disappear and become inaccessible by anyone at some point in the future. Your digital library with Sony won't be as secure as say your steam library, there is every likelihood that in the future you paying £70 for a game is so you can use it for up to 2 years and then you lose access or some other crap.
Even following the TV / film industry with how prevalent subscriptions have been with Netflix, Disney etc they have all opted to retain physical copies for people to purchase, I could still go in HMV (surprisingly still exists) and buy a physical blu-ray film, similarly we still get physical cd's.
For me and a few people I know now, we buy more games digitally yes however the plus of owning consoles is having the option of physical titles as well. If I am only going to be buying digital games moving forwards it will more likely be on PC. I can get mainly the same games, I can generally buy them cheaper, I have the options of what type of device I want 'Lots of power with a desktop, a portable hand held or something in the middle'. A lot of people own consoles for physical titles or exclusives in addition to their PC and such.
What I also find mad is the number of people who just accept this saying ah it doesn't bother me or in some instances I have seen online where people are getting irrate or arsey with those who aren't keen on going digital only. Neither do starving children in parts of the world but it should because it affects other people unnecessarily (appreciate that this is a bit more of a blunt way to say it 😄 ) It's classic case of 'I'm alright Jeff'. If people want to play and enjoy a game they way they do why should it be ok to take that away just to give more profit to the shareholders and such?

MrBiron reacted to AutisticGamer in Why is my PS5 doing this?
False alarm everyone, I managed to fix it, it turned out it was just my really bad internet connection 😂
I moved my WiFi router from my bedroom to my living room so everything is fixed now! 👍🏼

MrBiron got a reaction from J4MES OX4D in The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past Expansion
I'll definitely be getting this. The Witcher 3 is excellent and the Blood & Wine DLC was great fun.

MrBiron got a reaction from GazzaGarratt in Microsoft lower the price of Game Pass but remove COD.
Microsoft Cuts Price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
WWW.IGN.COM Microsoft has dropped the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from $29.99 per month to $22.99 per month, while PC Game Pass is being reduced from $16.49 per month to $13.99 per month. Both changes...
They added COD to Game Pass with BO6 but then had to increase the price to cover lost sales. Seems that they then lost subscribers due to the ridiculous price increase. So now they're lowering the cost and removing COD.
What a complete fuck up by everybody involved 🤣

MrBiron got a reaction from Luseth in The Witcher series 4
I watched the new series and after about 20 minutes I didn't even care that Cavill wasn't playing Geralt any more. I thought that Liam Hmesworth did a great job.

100% agreed. Add to that the fact that newly promoted teams can only spend a limited amount due to PSR whereas the bigger teams can just go and spend £600m plus. Declan Rice going to Arsenal cost nearly as much as our entire summer spendings. Newly promoted teams just can't compete. Seems that Sunderland may be the exception to the rule. Fair play to them if they do stay up.

I think that Leeds will be going straight back down. The recruitment team utterly failed in the summer and just didn't get in the players we needed. We've been crying out for a decent striker for years but we never get one.
Farke is out of his depth in the PL as well. I was all for giving him a chance after he got us promoted but I think that he needs to go. He's incapable of changing things up when he needs to and always picks basically the same team. Add to that the fact that he won't make changes at half time when it's blatantly obvious that we need to make changes. I guess the only issue is who would we get to replace him? 🤔

The gulf between the Championship and Premier League is ridiculous and it's getting wider all the time. I think Ipswich have a good squad but I don't think any team in the league this year would be good enough for the Premier League, not even Coventry. Ipswich last night created some decent chances and looked dangerous but just lacked anything clinical in the final third - partly down to our keeper having a great game and perhaps being burned out after Hull away on the Tuesday and some crazy away fixtures in succession. I can definitely see you lot challenging for promotion and securing a playoff place but the days teams can do a Bournemouth or Brentford and maintain a Prem place are long gone.

MrBiron got a reaction from GazzaGarratt in GTA6 delayed AGAIN (Nov 2026)

COD Poster-child and Activsion shill Fazz Swagg got banned on the first day. He's been banned from every COD title in recent years and has been caught cheating numerous times on several accounts whilst streaming. Also cheated during the Battlefield preview event and Activision famously paid him and his friends to provide fake trailer reactions
It was also funny to see so many big streamers struggle yesterday because their Cronus software hasn't been released yet and no cheats have bypassed the secure boot yet.

It's server de-sync. It was a problem in the beta and it looks like they still haven't fixed the issue.

MrBiron reacted to Luseth in BF6 Maps - Lets Talk!
@GazzaGarratt asked me last night what it was I am disliking about the game at the moment and I had a think about it after I came off last night and I have swung towards the same thinking as you. The maps are just bad.
The things I picked out about them:-
- The maps just feel very chaotic and without any real structure to them, in some instances you can have snipers shooting people in spawn sat up on a mountain, in others you can have tanks not even leaving their spawn and being able to take out people across the whole map.
- Moving from one objective point to another generally see's you having to run across open spaces leaving you completely exposed to anyone sitting around waiting for you.
- A number of the maps have high rise buildings that you can only reach the top via flying over in a helicopter and ditching it. Now I am no builder or architect but I don't recall many buildings in the world where they have been built without fekking stairs to the top! So many times I have been killed on this battlefield game by people sitting on top of a point that is not reachable by any means so unless you snipe back you can not counter them. Before Lee say's it, camping by snipers has always been in Battlefield but there has always been a way to fight back i.e. cover to sprint between to get to the sniper and such. Unfortunately we can't scale walls in this one. Even on the smaller skyscrapers you find there are sometimes no route up which to me is a futile attempt to make the assault class worth playing with it's ladders.
- The maps are smaller than historically, operation firestorm compared to almost every other map demonstrates this. Then the space within the maps is not utilised well at all. Think of all the routes through from one side of the map to the other on Cairo for example, there are no choke points or tactical routes which removes any tactical element of the map.
- Then where we have bigger maps they are far too open and all of the objectives seem to be placed centrally leaving swathes of the map empty.
- The new oilfields map is atrocious, it's like someone created an empty map, put some ridges in and then dropped in random geometry from the generic battlefield library and that's what we got. There are genuinely way better maps already in the community area.
- Spawns are dreadful, the number of times I spawned on a point yesterday and I was being shot before I even moved anywhere.
Oh on the game play side of it (we should just have 1 thread on this game) has anyone noticed that when you move from one lobby to another you can sometimes find yourself spawn in and start playing but other times you spawn in and the opposite team have already captured the first 2 bases before your side really get going? Like they load a number of players into the lobby at a time or something?

MrBiron got a reaction from Plumbers Crack in BF6 Maps - Lets Talk!
It's definitely down to them trying to appeal to the COD audience. If I want to play COD then I'll play COD. I don't want to play a BF that's like COD. I play both of them because they're different to each other.

MrBiron got a reaction from techno in BF6 Maps - Lets Talk!
The maps are just bad. I've played BF since Bad Company and I've generally enjoyed most of them (we can all just forget Hardline exists) but I just don't like this game. I don't remember getting shot in the back as much as I do in this game. I think it's because the maps are really small compared to previous BF games.

MrBiron reacted to Luseth in BF6 Maps - Lets Talk!
I think part of that is the spawns as well, I don't know if you have noticed but if you are capturing a base and people spawn in on said base they almost always spawn behind you. I think this is about trying to keep everything happening at a fast pace for players, you know the ADHD aspect of COD.
