  1. We went to Wembley for the first time yesterday to watch England vs Ukraine and was thankful that England played really well first half as we were not far behind the goal that Kane and Saka scored in. Saka just looks even more dangerous in an England shirt and fast becoming the long term replacement for Sterling. Maddison I thought played really well too so it was good to see him get his chance yesterday. Its mental that we've just beaten the best 2 sides in our qualifying group without Foden barely touching the grass. Shows we have some decent depth in certain areas of the pitch now. Shouldn't be underestimated too that even though Italy aren't the Euro Champions that they were a few years ago, it still takes a huge effort to get a result like that away from home. In other news, Spurs just seem to me that everyone knows they need to get a change at the very top because the pattern hasn't been right for many years. Similar to the likes of when Arsenal had David Dein for years. Kept them sustainable making money but never threatened the Premiership for years. @James5497, not 100% on Nagelsmann coming in just yet as Levy has given Mason and Conte's assistant the job until the end of the season...which makes me think it gives him time to work out if Pochettino is still a likely target to get back before the start of next season.

    2008

Not sure if I'd quite class this is retro yet but it certainly was of a very different generation where we were still using discs, pre-orders meant something and midnight launches existed and were huge! This was an insane year for gaming in terms of quantity and quality and I can't believe many of these games will be turning 15 throughout this year:- - Grand Theft Auto 4 - Metal Gear Solid 4 - Gears of War 2 - Fallout 3 - Burnout Paradise - Dead Space - Far Cry 2 - Fable 2 - Spore - FIFA 09 - Mario Kart Wii - Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - God of War - Mirrors Edge - Crysis Warhead - Battlefield: Bad Company - Need For Speed: Undercover - Call of Duty: World at War - Left 4 Dead - Little Big Planet - Saints Row 2 - Silent Hill Homecoming - Tomb Raider Underworld - C&C Red Alert 3 - Devil May Cry 4 - Valkyria Chronicles - Persona 4 GTA IV's launch was absolutely massive from what I remember and MGS4 was a huge system seller 10 years from the original's release. Fallout 3 took the RPG into 3D and Gears of War 2 continued to build on the Xbox's important exclusive. FIFA was really turning a corner as PES was fumbling its generation transition and Burnout Paradise was great fun on all systems. I probably only picked up a quarter of the list but even that was a huge amount. The PSP and Nintendo DS were really popular although I didn't have neither but the Wii was also selling masses of units and offered something different in terms of audience and interactivity. Spore didn't really live up to its ambitions but was still decent and Mirrors Edge pushed visual and mechanical boundaries. WAW to finish the year off was also nice but many at the time felt the series played itself safe after IW made huge strides after their Modern Warfare gamble with COD 4. Gamers were also spoiled with many having plenty of games from 2007 on the back-burner or still being played such as Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Portal, Crysis, Uncharted, Super Mario Galaxy and The Orange Box plus many more. I honestly don't know how I managed to squeeze so many in during this era!

    Diablo IV Beta

Ah fair enough ^_^ My experience of the game was actually pretty pleasant compared to yours then. My thoughts on the beta - - It looks fantastic I won't lie, I think they have nailed the visuals - The story seems like it could be really really good - Games like these I either bounce off or get really engrossed, I have not been engrossed in one since maybe the first 2 dragon age games though. They are often time sinks and I do not have the time typically. That said this did hook me in and it's on my radar to buy now. - The NPC's could do with some work as they don't seem to shut up 😄 - That said I think more hardcore fans of the series may be a little dissapointed with the skills tree and as you have mentioned above, the downside with the game moving towards a live service means that you always need to be online so dodgy internet connections are just going to see you kicked often and full servers will result poor experiences. I reckon it's a 7/10 game, but having not played anything like this for a while and this one has now got my attention I will play it at some point, just maybe not at launch prices.

    World of Warcraft

I'm playing WOTLK Classic and loving it. The players are generally really nice, and as there's no "looking for dungeon" tool, reputation matters. I've only got one level 80 (max) character (Warrior tank) who's only recently hit 80 so I'm still gearing him up If you're looking for a nice chill game with more to do and explore than most games out there, it can't be beat.

    World of Warcraft

I played just before the dragonflight update. Really enjoyed leveling a few characters, and just exploring the world. Think as others said, it does get a bit stale after some time if you're not running with friends. Also found as a very casual player, dungeons were quite intimidating when you're not with patient players, which could be alleviated if playing with friends. I'm not looking to get into it seriously any time soon, but would have been fun!

    The Mandalorian

There's been a few rumours going round that Grogu going off with Luke was supposed to be the end of the story line but Grogu returning was forced on the series. Whether it's true or not who knows but it makes sense as they do seem to have stagnated with Grogu. Especially as Din's story is tyng up with Bo Katan's and seems to be around the restoration of Mandalor which doesn't seem to have room for Grogu.

I would be up for playing an mmo, if you let me know which way you swing 🙂 WoW I have only briefly played, found that as with most mmo's it's just more enjoyable with friends and at the time I knew no one playing it so I drifted away ^_^ Dragonflight does seem to get some praise from what I read.

    Diablo IV Beta

Definitely a way bigger demand on PC especially during the open beta but Blizzard should accommodate the anticipated influx. Their servers are notoriously shit and that's why people's frustrations wear thin with them. Diablo 3, Warcraft 3 Reforged and then Diablo 2 Resurrected were all abysmal at launch and beyond so it just feels another taster of what's to come when the game releases. Overwatch was their only game since 2010 which was done right and that's because they dipped into their insane wealth to create a decent server structure but all their other brands are neglected in this respect. The developers are still under the early 2000's impression that people are willing to wait 2 hours to queue to get into one of their prestigious games as a privilege.

    The state of Cod

I still watch eight thoughts and thunder and yes they do have critiscms of the game and as eight says that's what drives clicks people love hate videos however both can't simply be dismissed if they have genuine gripes. However Nero as James said is pretty fair. Now we all like different things same as YouTubers be a bit weird if we didn't, but companies shouldn't just get a pass if they make dumb or incompetent decisions. Cod is ok because no matter what they shit out it has enough of a following and enough idiots buying crap to be fine. Probably just like rockstar.

    The state of Cod

I stopped watching 8 Thoughts years ago. I just find him annoying and he's been hating COD for a long time. Same with Thunder (who used to be my favourite COD YTer). COD isn't dead. It still makes a ridiculous amount of money. It's still the best selling game every year (apart from when Rockstar release something). I actually don't mind MW2. Sure it's got it's issues and IW made some stupid design decisions. But it's better than the last few efforts.

  15. It honestly felt, gameplay wise, to be very similar to 3. I like the more “realistic” approach they’ve taken with the visuals as oppose to the more WoW-like look of 3. My biggest complaint? Why did they change the inventory?? 3 had the perfect breakdown of everything being sectioned off into its own area. Now, it’s all lumped together again and you run out of space halfway through a dungeon. It got to a point where I would only pick up yellow or orange gear and leave everything else. I’m also not a fan of the “always online” shit. Why must everything be online? It really does suck especially with something that a lot of people will play by themselves for the most part. Day one is gonna be a Bitch. I also wish there was more classes to choose from. But, I guess they need DLC down the road. I did pre-order it though. I enjoy the games, and hopefully the few annoyances I have won’t deter that enjoyment.

    The Mandalorian

Not sure if anyone has been watching this, it came back out the other week with little fanfair. My thoughts so far is that nothing has happened, I'm 3 or 4 episodes in and so far there has been so little story. Chatting to @LordBaguette I think he is correct in that Grogu is now becoming a hindrance, there seem's to be too much focus on him and he's not exactly a character you can make engaging on screen or do anything beyond jump about every now and again.

  22. Yep, as Lee said, DLC are platform specific so you'd have to buy for both if you wanted to play Lightfall on both. I think Bungie wanted to do DLC tied to account, similar to how season passes work but IIRC Xbox and Steam were for it but Sony vetoed it.

    Diablo IV Beta

I wonder if it is generally worse on pc then, I have been on a couple of times now and similar experiences to my first try. I do find that long queue times are just a staple of open betas these days though and it was always going to be worse than closed beta surely due to it being more accessible? I plan to jump on again shortly and then I will put my thoughts down on the game and whether or not i am tempted to pick it up 🙂

  24. I'm actually shocked at how far Italy have fallen. Failed to get to the World Cup and they may even struggle to qualify for the Euros at this rate. Hard to believe they beat us in the final 18 months ago and could now go the same way Holland did. Just goes to show how significant those experienced players were for them. Great result for us though and I'm glad we've found our form after that diabolical and worrying Nations League campaign prior to the World Cup. Channel 4 coverage is so wank though🤣

In 2008 I bought my first Xbox 360 second hand from CEX, although I think they had a different name then. With it, i picked up Cod 4, Fallout 3, Mass Effect and Bioshock and I still remember my excitement.

I'm interested in re-downloading World of Warcraft and was just wondering has played it recently with the new Dragon flight update? I stopped playing when they introduced the Pandas (was a bit of a gimmick). But I've been really getting bored of all the FPS and I think this might be a nice breath of fresh air. I've been debating out of WoW and RuneScape to get back into.

    Pc or PlayStation

That's quite silly of Sony really. I could understand if they didn't want to burden their content servers when users have purchased on Steam/Xbox but Destiny 2 has players download the entire game with DLC ownership merely acting as an authentication element for content. So even if the user doesn't have DLC on that system, the content is still installed anyway.

    The state of Cod

I post topics that can be debated rather than just blanket criticisms but if a couple of people interpret that as an insult right off the bat with no consideration to context then any debate is lost. I've said in several threads that I think MW2 is a pretty good game but is let down by some design and post-launch support factors but as soon as I mention those factors, it turns into a 2009-style 'U H8 COD SO UR A HATER OF ALL CAWD GAMEZ' nonsense🤣 Surprisingly the vid he just released where hes being remotely serious is actually pretty spot on. Probably wont sub to him again still but he raises some valid points.

  35. I hate international football but watched the first half against Italy and thought it was an excellent performance that could have produced more goals. I knew they wouldn't sustain that in the second half but an away win against a very hard to beat side turns out to be one of the best England results in years. Declan Rice could be a quality player if he uses his brain a little more, he was superb imo.

    Diablo IV Beta

Haven't been able to get in all day today so I just uninstalled the beta. Same old Blizzard with their shitty servers and just like the Diablo 2 fiasco, it will no doubt spill into the full release. Queue times are completely unacceptable and many that have got in have been booted for a variety of technical issues and then put back into 2+ hour wait times. Not gonna be enough time for them to prove that this will stabilise at this late stage of the beta so I'm not gonna spend £50 on a game where I have to queue 37 hours just to get to the login attempt screen.

I think it depends on what you consider the 'main' story to be - returning Grogu / Baby yoda to his kind is his quest but there is obviously the wider story too of the Mandalorians, trying to find and reunite a fractured race and helping restore Mandalor (this is seen through Mando donating Beskar to help out in the first series and Bo Katan in the second) which circularly references back to Moff Gideon as the bearer of the dark saber which also ties in Mando because of Moff Gideons research and experiments with Grogu/Baby Yoda seen in Ep4. Sure the Grogu/Baby yoda plot doesn't move that fast but there are plenty of other story arcs being progressed alongside it. Though as I said earlier, I do wonder how much is just fan service and how much will tie in to the story; are they just going to keep references Boba Fett or will he play a part? Will Ahsoka turn up again? Either against Thrawn as mentioned last week? or maybe in the Moff Gideon/Dark Daber storyline as Ahsoka does have a loose connection to it through Sabine Wren, will Thrawn feature more heavily now? maybe as Gideon's superior?

I can see what you're saying Bill, didn't think of it like that. However, its still been a great series to watch so far - I think most people enjoy seeing the goody doing their best to battle through the baddies and its obvious that they need to make sure the goody mostly wins out in nearly all series like this. What do you think could change to make it different? Finish episodes unfinished where we don't know what will happen? I don't go too deep into stuff like this as I try to enjoy the moment so I can be open to all scenarios, even if most are extremely unlikely to happen. I do think we could see more background about Baby Yoda, but maybe thats because Jon Favreau knows what season this will fall out in and its we're not near it yet?
