    Frostpunk

I think I got this in a Humble Bundle last year and not sure if I ever added it to Steam. It is supposed to be a very good game, maybe time I checked it out.

@TurboR56Mini happened to be browsing Steam and fell upon a game that I totally forgot I wanted to play. I was waiting for it to come out, then I forgot about it. I remember reading about Frostpunk before it was released. It sounded so intriguing. From what I remember, it was a steep learning curve. It was harsh. It was not forgiving. It was challenging. It pushed the boundaries on your ethics to keep your city surviving. I dumped the last hour into the game. And, my golly gosh. It lived up to all of that. This is not an easy game. You need to think about how you will survive even the first day. How will you use your resources effectively to make it through the night. I must have restarted about 6 times - each time trying something different and being better than the last. This... this is making me think. And, the graphics and the music? Well done! I'm going to be fiddling with this game for a bit in-between Valheim and my once in a while wanderings in D2 for the laughs. This is going to be my time suck for a while.

  3. Another reason why I think COD will never return to its glory days is down to how the gaming landscape has changed. The golden era of COD around MW2 and BO1 was when deathmatch was still very popular and level progression was a big aspect of people's ongoing enjoyment. Someone going 30-4 was a great gameplay for a YouTube video and there were no competitive stresses. I bet veteran arena shooter players of the millennium days did not like this type of game or its format the same way many don't like COD in its current state. Nowadays, getting 30 kills is nothing and gameplay commentaries, unless they are giving tips on cheesing or OP weapons, are largely redundant. Someone even getting a double nuke barely gets any attention these days or going 100-0 whilst using knife only. Even the new nuke world record set the other day (72 seconds) didn't bat an eyelid in the community. Sadly it's all about skin culture today and looking good in-game. The e-Sport mentality is being injected into g-fulled players with a rapid meta in terms of mechanics and competitive matchmaking. You can be playing casually yet onscreen it looks like you are sweating it like crazy. Prestige also means little now - a few years ago, players were reaching Prestige 10 level 1000 just after Christmas when even I would struggle to reach just the max prestige over the duration of a year. Although I can still comfortably hold my own even in the most sweatiest SBMM riddled matches, I think a lot of the fun has been sucked out of the experience because of the way people have been conditioned to play and how the game is designed. It's more mentally exhausting than fun at times. One other factor which has diminished the fun of the COD titles pretty much the whole of the last gen was disappointing kill/scorestreaks. I can barely name any after Black Ops 2 they were that forgettable. Even ones that returned to the series just didn't have the presence, enjoyement or sheer power like they did in older titles. I really don't know how they got this so wrong and why they haven't bounced back. Could be that it's just another tiring aspect but certainly they sucked from Ghosts onward.

I bought this when it first came out and it was a really good but highly stressful game! Every decision you had to make was tough as there was always a negative consequence or something that would come back to bite you. The game constantly made you think and have to make horrible sacrifices that would drastically impact how things went going forward. I think i'll have to check out the updates and DLC as it's been a while.

  5. EPISODE 9 SPOILERS BELOW - - - Well the journey is over. After episode 8 I realised it wouldn't be as crazy as most originally though it would with Mephisto / Nightmare / Xmen etc etc, that is why I backtracked in the previous review and I was mostly correct, except for Ultron. I enjoyed the episode though and it was a satisfying conclusion to Wanda story of trauma with Vision and her past. I enjoyed the fight scenes for the most part, well made and cool looking. Also the shot of her becoming the full Scarlett Witch with the outfit was amazing. Also she looks 11/10 hot in that outfit, jesus. I think quite a few people will be disappointed there wasn't any huge cameos and things, also the part with Pietro was a huge cop-out, I am still not sure whether I like that. It seems that the X-Men may not be brought into the MCU at least using Wanda after all. This is not the worst plot point though. For me the poorest part of the episode, and for most of the series is Haywood. He has just ended up being generic bad military guy, which is completely underwhelming and just down right boring. I mean he starts shooting the kids at the end for seemingly no reason. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for most of the series to see where it was going, but now I realise it was just downright bad. I thought Agatha was great again, although I thought her motivations were a bit odd. I mean she wants her power but also understands how dangerous it is, surely its more dangerous trying to siphon it out of Wanda? I mean she doesn't know how to control it either, but anyway she did well. I am glad she didn't die. She had a throwaway line at the end after Wanda changed her. Wanda says, 'If I need you i'll come see you' then she says 'Not if I see you first' which I think will be a nod to her returning. White White vs Vision, again pretty cool fight. Ended quite abruptly though, and we seemingly get the original Vision back at the end who just flys off? Kind of weird you'd think if he had his original memories he would stay and help? The ending between her and Vision I thought was well done and quite sad. Mid credits scene I thought was relatively boring, I mean it was obvious Monica knew the skrulls as she met them in Captain Marvel. This is just a generic set up for Captain Marvel 2. The post credits scene however I thought was very cool, and I think this is the main setup for Dr Strange 2. Her reading that book in astral form with the Dr Strange music playing was sweet. You can hear her kids voices as well, I assume she will bring them back, but by doing so has some kind of 'deal with devil' and ends up unleashing Nightmare. Also she can control her human form and astral form we haven't even see Strange do that, he's always passed out or asleep when in astral form. All in all I thought the series was very good, probably overhyped by people going way too far with their theories and what they expected to happen. It ended up being a much more grounded story about Wanda's past trauma and her dealing with it through creating the hex. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I watched it all in one go though. If it was all released in one go, people wouldn't scrutinise every single part of every episode for a week afterwards. Instead they'd watch it all in one go and enjoy it for what it was, not what it wasn't, which I was guilty of to begin with as well. Regarding Pietro. I think him being revealed as a nobody is actuals Marvels way of showing people, look we cast him, made him a nobody, to show people that the Fox X-Men universe is dead, and they won't be using any characters from it. Casting Evan Peters means casting the rest which they won't do. Marvel will reboot X-Men fully and properly and build it up just like they did with The Avengers. I doubt we will see any of them for 5-6 years. I think a lot of the Nightmare/Mephisto stuff will happen, just not until Dr Strange 2. As a standalone show I thought it was great, I am glad they didn't overstuff it with cameos and things. What lets it down slightly is the Pietro mislead and also Haywood. I would give it a 10/10 if i wasn't for that, but my overall would be a 9/10.

    Resident Alien

I mentioned this last Friday and I don't think anyone in the party has been watching it so for those that aren't - you should be and those that are - you're awesome. It follows an alien (Alan Tudyk - Firefly, A Knights Tale, Dodgeball, Conman) who has crash landed in Colorado where he takes over the identity of a small town doctor and helps to investigate a murder while trying to complete his mission. Resident Alien (TV Series 2021– ) - IMDb WWW.IMDB.COM Created by Chris Sheridan. With Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund. It follows a crash-landed alien named... Tudyk fits the role perfectly as the alien who has studied humans (mostly through Law and Order) but doesn't really understand. The writing is brilliant; a mix of drama and dry comedy though the comedy is often deadpan and a out of the blue as Tudyk. There isn't many "comedies" that I find actual laugh out loud funny but this is one.

  9. Yea I think people expect everything to be as good as Endgame, Infinity War etc now, which it wont be I just hate Haywood especially at the end, he was very badly written. It is a good thing Agatha was so good because he was polar opposite awful White Vision is part of the West Coast Avengers and is basically a colder more calculated version of Vision. I like they take parts / homages from comics for bits like this

Yup. You can pause. I pause immediately once it starts to try to figure out where to build and what to build. Every.second.matters. Your citizens don't want to work after a certain hour even if their lives depend on getting enough coal to survive the night. What's sort of funny is that these "people" trekked the blizzard wasteland for days, and somehow can't survive a night? Like. Wut? It's a giant puzzle to me... one that I desperately want to figure out. We got all the DLCs, so there's even a prequel to try out. I am trying to be okay with people dying. Trying. But, I can't get there.. Not in the beginning. I think after a few in-game days, okay. But not in the beginning. It's a different stressful game lol. I love games that involve tons of thinking and problem solving. And, I really really want to get my town off on the right foot before it gets more difficult!

  13. The only thing is disagree on is black ops 3 and 4 had some decent scorestreaks, blops 3 especially. I think thats another reason cold war sucks is treyarch scorestreaks are usually pretty good in cold war they suck and that's why it's UAV/counter UAV spam.

  16. I expect most people will have a beer or 7 in their system which is why the idea is pistols and melee only 😂 Doesn’t really matter what operator people pick as long as it has a pistol secondary, could also decide on no traps if people want that so they don’t need to use that extra half of a brain cell 🤣 Think there’s 4-5 of us that are gonna be on it anyways so the offer to join is there 😉 Could look at doing siege on weekdays if people want, I’m ass at the game but for some reason I enjoy it 😂

It does look very intriguing. I used to enjoy simulators like this but this one seems very harsh and based on your initial opinions that could get annoying very quickly!! 😄 I've haven't got the time to sink into something like this at the moment. If I did, I wanted to get back into Two Point Hospital as thats far less strenuous and abit of fun on top. Keep us informed if there is a decent way to start out which helps get into it. Can you pause it at any moment btw? I would probably get interrupted alot you see.

  18. As @J4MES OX4D said: Just give us a complete game! The last 2 CODs have had a pathetic amount of content at launch. 6-8 maps is just not good enough. Get rid of SBMM or EOMM (engagement optimised matchmaking) or whatever it is, in public matches. Pubs should be casual, quick play. I'd like a near future setting as well as it gives them devs some creative freedom for the weapons and gadgets they could put in the game. Make bloody Warzone its own separate game with its own separate studio! And just give us Titanfall 3.

  20. 3/3/2021 Workout 12 minute AMRAP 6 dumb bell hang power cleans @ 45lb pair 6 dumb bell front rack lunges @ 45lb pair 6 knee ups Thoughts: You ever go to a workout class and wonder "they know who I am right? Like, why why why?" That was my thought with the 45lb pair of dumb bells. Coach James saw my puzzled look when I got to my square and said, "You were easily power cleaning 175lbs on Saturday. 90lbs should be fine." I said, "But... lunges..." He said, "Oh, and your scale for toes-to-bar is knee ups. You're past leg raises." I said, "But... survive?" Overall, wasn't too terrible. But my hands. Oh, my hands. We've reached the stage of where I need to start taking care of calluses on my hands, so they can protect and not hurt. I thought I was the only one being a wuss about it. Nope. Haha.. Our top athlete said that it was doing the toes-to-bar halfway through was the hardest because it hurt! Anyway. Fun story/discovery. As I finish up the last of my boxing package, I have found out that there's like a legit Eskrima/Arnis teacher in my town. Here's hoping he knows how to check his email... so I can get sessions. I would love to break the sticks out again and just get back to what I love learning. Body weight note: I'm officially down 13.2 lbs since January 1 (I'm 10lbs away from where my body is typically happy at, so it gets even more difficult then). I actually made the February weigh in. But, yeah, how I typically eat when training and not worrying about the scale every other day is better for my mental health and leaning out. Almost in my old clothes from when I was working at a hedge fund. Then, it will be getting even leaner than that. Shooting for end of August now for overall goals due to a friend wanting to do something in October. Good times. Good progress. Good things ahead. Here's to getting back into some combat martial arts and maybe some wall climbing for summer... on top of the next weightlifting workshop (squat cleans).

    Facebook

Facebook is doing everyone a favor. Who needs facebook for anything? I've never had an account and the only thing I've missed out on is having everything about my life in some database to be farmed out. If you rely on facebook for news, introspection is required.

    Bitcoins & Stocks

Sup fellas. Tommy I've been day trading for about 5 years now. Not full time or anything but I spend about 2 hours or so a day on it from around 9-11 and again at close. I mostly swing trade different stocks for a few weeks or so in a variety of sectors. I've used a few platforms and Fidelity is the only one I use now, and I recommend it to everyone. Do not use Robinhood. All the brokers have free trades now so go with a solid company (i.e. NOT robinhood lol). Download Active Trader Pro on your computer and use that. Don't trade from your phone. Anyhow if you have any questions I've been a student of trading for quite a long time and can give plenty of advice/recommendations. I had a bunch of friends that recently got into trading in the last few months with the GME/AMC stuff and helped them avoid some major fuckup ideas they had in their heads lol. Also if you want to drink from a firehose, Stocktwits is a fantastic app. It's like twitter for stocks. Just take everyone's posts with a grain of salt. You'll eventually find traders to follow who know what they're doing. Easily 90% of the people on there are morons typing out rocket ships and diamond hands and all that crap, but you can learn a ton from the other 10% because you're seeing active opinions on whats happening and what their game plan is (not youtube videos where people monday morning quarterback). It's a great place to find opportunity, but then it's your job to do your DD and understand why you are investing and when to enter/exit. My best general rule is to always enter a stock with 1/3 of the position you want. If you want to gamble $1k on a particular stock, enter with $333. Add another 1/3 on 5% dips until you get your full position. If it doesn't dip, maybe average up along the way but never look back and say I wish I had put more in. Thats what rookie traders do because they have no discipline. They also go full in out of the gate and if it drops 10-20 percent they're left holding big bags instead of the traders who give themselves opportunities to average down with the same amount of invested capital. Always ease into a position. I learned the hard way like every new trader does, and it took a long time before I found my style and actually started making money. I could go on for days but if you have any specific questions shoot em over.

  23. I see so many of these adverts now - mostly trading apps but I haven't tried them myself. Like Lee, I wouldn't really know where to start with it all. The circus surrounding Gametop and the accessibility of being able to do this just leaves me thinking it could turn very unstable and saturated although could be fun and profitable in the short term. I may take a deeper look sometime but the only thing I understand is cold hard cash!

I don't feel like starting a new thread about this game. I started really playing it on Saturday, and am now in a good part of the game where I can wander around. Thought it was interesting? Amusing? to stumble upon a bloody barrel with a hand sticking out of it. Not sure why it's there. But here it was.:
