  1. Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring. Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for Holiday 2020. These updates may not be a huge surprise, but we wanted to confirm them for our PlayStation fans, as we start to reveal additional details about our vision for the next generation. WIRED magazine covered these updates and more in a story that posted this morning. The “more” refers to something I’m quite excited about – a preview of the new controller that will ship with PlayStation 5. One of our goals with the next generation is to deepen the feeling of immersion when you play games, and we had the opportunity with our new controller to reimagine how the sense of touch can add to that immersion. To that end, there are two key innovations with the PlayStation 5’s new controller. First, we’re adopting haptic feedback to replace the “rumble” technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles. With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud. The second innovation is something we call adaptive triggers, which have been incorporated into the trigger buttons (L2/R2). Developers can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain. In combination with the haptics, this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions. Game creators have started to receive early versions of the new controller, and we can’t wait to see where their imagination goes with these new features at their disposal. While there’s much more to share about PlayStation 5 in the year ahead, we have plenty of blockbuster experiences coming your way on PS4, including Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghost of Tsushima. I’d like to thank all PlayStation fans for continuing the journey with us, as we embark on the future of games. https://blog.us.playstation.com/2019/10/08/an-update-on-next-gen-playstation-5-launches-holiday-2020/

    Doom Eternal

Game has been delayed for a few months until March 2020. Good idea if it's missing those extra bits even after this launch date.

  4. After finishing the story and started the power level grind, I have both very positive and some negative feelings about the expansion. I think what what they did with the moon was done very well. You have a lot of familiarity with it but at the same time it feels different. Love the Red Keep. Looks great. The nightmare bosses that spawn are a nice touch. I like the difficulty of things. You weren’t just able to muscle through it. The nightmare hunts are really fun. I don’t care if they are re-skin weapons but I really like the vex offensive weapons. Especially the SMG with a good tool. They did a really good job with leveling in my opinion too. The grind to 900 wasn’t bad. By the time I finished the story and did a couple of strikes I was at 900. Now the grind after 900 has been a little more tedious, not horrible but more demanding. I also really like the addition on the season pass. Gives me a reason to do bounties now I really domt don’t like the new mod system though. I think it’s stupid to put elementals on armor mods. You can only equip this scavenger mod on these boots because they both have solar elements. That’s dumb. People are going to grind the game regardless or they are going to stop. This doesn’t do anything but make you grind more and the HC players will be there anyway. This needs to change. They need to make all armor transmog. Not just everversa or seasonal. I have a ton of armor I would like to show off but will never be able to wear it. Let us look how we want. I don’t like the new upgrade system that much either. Adding ascendant shard to level up armor. This game really needs less currency not more. All in all I really like the changes, none are game breaking. Most are really good for the game. Well done Bungie. Hope it continues

  10. Well, finished the campaign last night. Had a few goes on Vex new stuff too. So here goes. Hot take. Destiny positive guy thinks its worthwhile. Well yeah, duh. But it shouldn't be a surprise if you a regular player of Destiny that enjoys the games ways of giving different activities and rewards in the way it does. It will always be worthwhile to these people as you will get you moneys worth in terms of time. I think if you strip away the bias views from Destiny lovers I actually think Bungie has been extremely clever with making this content in the way they have at one of the most defining moments Bungie will ever have with Destiny. If you have committed to move away and be independent from any publisher, make a stand and change the entire base game plus most of 2 years worth of content free to play, enable cross save across multiple platforms, with a few new ones in there as well, you can start to ask how the hell could they make a brand new expansion that is a little bigger than Rise of Iron? So clearly the right thing to do was to 're-imagine' content from D1 in the main. Yeah, other people will straight away go for re-used, recycled, same old content, etc. I can understand parts of it but it really has 'evolved' into something new. It doesn't feel old however you get the best of both worlds because from time to time you recognise an old Helium Filament run and get that nostalgic boost which many of us do ask for. The campaign is relatively short, same as most campaigns. In the main i'd say it was slightly shorter than I hoped, being a lover of the story and unanswered questions. However, it was quality over quantity. The updates they've made to it really stand out. Notice how you had other NPC Guardians shooting the Hive down next to you as you battled through? It actually felt like you were finally part of a wave of Guardians, not just Billy no mates here to save the day again. Enemies have been created at the optimum damage level to the relevant Power level you expected to be around. The Hive hit slightly harder than usual and the Nightmare versions did make me jump back from time to time. Spoiler paragraph ahead - In terms of Quality though, for anyone who loves the mystery of Destiny or even kinda half gets it, knew how impressive it was to turn the corner after hearing hysterical screams from Nightmares, to a huge glowing Earth in the sky....to then be presented with the first ever Pyramid ship we've seen in-game was breathtaking. It sounds like most Destiny regular players have found this to be the best surprise of all. And that was pretty much topped by going into it by the end. I won't talk more about it, you really have to do the campaign to experience it. The dialogue and ideas behind the Nightmare's work well, although its a shame with Destiny's story its very difficult to connect back to open endgame content. I think the only way would be to hold back multiple additional missions along the way, but then they'd be told off for holding back content. It would be cool to have extra dialogue through the next 3 months - maybe the dungeon will provide this. Replayability of the Moon and Nightmare Cryptoglyph to farm weapons i'm undecided on. Thats because I haven't played it enough yet. I actually went instead to do the Vex Invasions and then the Vex Offensive first. Now that was a lot of fun. Not groundbreakingly hard but another variation and change up that made Menagerie a winner. However, this is why I said earlier that Bungie had been clever. This content is actually part of season 8. But you get that included in Shadowkeep if you buy it. I'll come back and talk more about the content in a few weeks I reckon. The great thing now is that we kinda know what to expect in how these seasons go. I've paid my money for the whole year, and now I get to sitback and watch it all the content drop. TLDR, Even if specific Shadowkeep elements are potentially lighter than usual, the huge amount of changes that have come at the same time mean its possibly the best ever time to hop back in. A game you'll continue play alongside everything else. Its the Constant One.

  12. The problem is that within every company there are people pushing in different directions. Ubisoft are no different. Short term profiteering is winning in the boardroom. Micro Ts bring in the extra money. Can't be disputed when it's all there on a spreadsheet. Revenue. Profits. But no column for angry gamers [emoji106] Once that pandora box was opened, there was no going back for some of these greedy blinkered fucks. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

  14. I quite enjoyed dismantle simulator, a little different to the usual linear story mission and in happy I only have to go through it once not once per character. Loved the last mission. One possible issue is I've not found anything I really want to use weapon wise other than what I used before. Maybe there maybe something as there are loads but nothing better. The other thing I have issue with so far is inside PvP 3v3 survival with so much heavy spawning is a major issue imo. I really don't think it should be in that gamemode at all, especially with wardcliffe coil and colony. Comp PvP should be gun and abilities only.

  21. The more real tracks they add the better and Spa is a good track. I love racing GT cars in other games at Spa. Glad you’re enjoying the wheel though 🙂 Interesting that you say you’re more prone to error as most people (myself included) are more consistent with a wheel. Though I guess that could be down to you still getting used to it over a controller. You mean you only let your cat watch? That’s harsh, surely you could have let your cat have a go by now!

  22. I like the recent changes they've added to the game. I hear another track (Spa) might be coming too. I've been trying to learn the G29 driving wheel, which is a lot of fun. Its harder work than I expected and it takes me a while to get my feet happy with the pedals but it's very enjoyable. I'm about 2 seconds off my controller pace which is good, it's coming down all the time... but I'm much more prone to error. What I like about it is that I now get a much better feel for the car, for the racing line and I'm taking corners better. Once I've really got to grips with it I can see me finally being able to drop ABS. It is much easier to drive the wet tracks than with a controller. Also my cat likes sitting behind the wheel and partially blocks my view.
