    Battlefield 6

Exactly the cause of my reticence. I was hoping to give it a good test in the beta but of course it comes out the weekend I'm away ๐Ÿ˜„ but hopefully you lot will play it and give some feedback as I want to get it and I want to love it.

    Battlefield 6

I'm definitely more confident about this one especially as most people who made 2042 have long left the company and proper and proven developers were brought in instead. I knew instantly that 2042 would be a catastrophe because it had no campaign, no squad system, no voice chat, no scoreboard, 128 players, barely any guns, no server browser, no stat tracking, stupid specialists, map-changing levolution replaced with temporarily inconvenient weather effects, awful interface, no rush, TDM or dom, no progression, overly-large and empty maps and bot-filled lobbies. It was literally the most anti-Battlefield game imaginable and clear the developers didn't have a clue what the series was about or what they were doing. They were removing staples of the series and the genre without any logic. My only worry with BF6 is if it leans too far into COD. We desperately need these big BF4-style tactical maps.

  5. I'm really enjoying this campaign - just finished the Savathun's right hand mission which was bloody challenging on solo legendary and took me well over an hour. Beyond Light I seemed to fly through in about 6 hours even with 34 quest steps but this one you really seem to get bang for your buck as every mission seems detailed, challenging and lasts longer than 15 minutes.

  6. I didn't mind the Final Shape, but there was zero chance I was doing it 3 times. The story wasn't bad, but man was it tedious at times. I enjoyed Beyond Light but I think the Witch Queen was my favorite.

  7. Rocket League have overhauled their club feature for the first time since launch and its well overdue I reckon. Some nice, cool additions to the area, including badges to obtain as a club now - all obtained just by playing in your club name with teammates. A brand new stadium with new arena announcements was a nice surprise and well received. Key Club Updates: Club Career Stats will keep track of Club statistics earned over the course of the Clubโ€™s lifetime. Club Seasonal milestones will be tracked in the form of Club Medals, a new concept in Rocket League. Clubs accumulate Medals by making progress in three main categories: Goals, Saves, and Assists. Each one of these categories includes three Medal milestones in order of accomplishment: Prospect, Signature, and Premier. Reaching a milestone rewards a Club the associated Medal. This Medal is displayed in the Club profile, viewable in the Club menu and within Club matches (against any opponent, not just other Clubs). Medals will be shown publicly in the intro sequence of matches where all members of at least one team are in the same Club (these are called โ€œClub matchesโ€). If a Club receives the highest-tier Medal (Premier Medal) in all three stat categories, their Club profile icon will have a special look visible in intro sequences and the Club menu. While public Medals help Clubs show off their progress and prestige, they might deter Clubs who enjoy playing more non-competitively. Club Owners and Managers will be able to toggle public Medals on or off within the Club Customization menu, to prevent their Medals from being shown in Club match intro sequences. By default, Club Medals will be shown in the Club match intro sequence. Club Medals will always be viewable in the Club menu, regardless of toggle status. General Club Stats and Milestone Rules: Club milestones will reset every Season. This gives Clubs opportunities to improve Season over Season, as well as earn new Club Titles every Season. Once a Club earns a Medal, Club members will receive a notification that the Medal has been earned. The Medal will immediately be shown on the Club profile. Additionally, members will receive a notification when the Club earns a Club Title. Stats towards Medal milestones are only recorded during matches with more than one player on each team, including Club matches. There are three earnable Club Titles based on Club Medal progression. New Titles are available per Season, and linked to the tier of the Medal (Prospect, Signature, Premier). Link to full Patch Notes: Just a moment... WWW.ROCKETLEAGUE.COM What do you think? Personally, it feels a good Quality of Life update to prompt you to play more games with friends. Resets every season, so depends on how hard these medals are to collect.

  13. I replayed the game last year and it was great fun! Huge step up over GTA III from a gameplay and narrative perspective. The soundtrack was amazing and who could forget taking a chainsaw to the Malibu Club! The latter stages to unlock the final mission was a bit of a grind - not so much back then, but certainly now, but the majority of the game is excellent.

  14. Bungie are having a sale right now and in which you can get 3 expansions plus other content for around ยฃ7. I thought I'd revisit the game after an almost 5 year absence and it's a bit overwhelming , but I think I am slowly finding my feet. There are lots of new things and quite a few old elements that I have forgotten about. I seem to be going through the New Light campaign for returning and new players which is a bit of a recap of sorts. Once that is out of the way I can have a look at the expansions I didn't stick around for. This game is definitely a convoluted mess for returning players, let alone newcomers, and I think Bungie have made a lot of things rather shambolic and bloated. Much of it is a result of sustained development even with the vaulted content, but others are through efforts to drive income particularly when they went solo away from Activision and it looks quite messy. The content included in the Legacy Collection (2025) are:- The Final Shape Standard Edition Lightfall Standard Edition The Witch Queen Standard Edition Beyond Light Pack Shadowkeep Pack Forsaken Pack 30th Anniversary Pack Pit of Heresy Dungeon Shattered Throne Dungeon Grasp of Avarice Dungeon I'm definitely going to look forward to working my way through this content and it may even lead me to purchase some of the newer expansions. I hope this bundle will get more people back to the game but it may be a little late in the day for many and I must say Destiny 2 is one of the least welcoming games for new players and even past veterans because of its approach and execution despite simple and enjoyable gameplay mechanics.

  18. Lightfall had some really odd choices for gated content. Which was really dumb considering there is no reason to gate it currently, but last I played it still was. Honestly the last really fun expansion was Witch Queen. Everything that came after was just a lot of confusing decisions from Bungie. I still played the it up until a few weeks ago, but I just didn't understand why they did what they did.

Yeah i dunno about this still, 2042 left a bad taste, partly the shitty launch but also that no-one gave it much of a chance. I bought it and played it mostly solo and would've been fun if others had bothered with it. If the single player campaign is good then maybe after launch I'll pick it up. I have Tarkov for my shooter needs, I don't see any game better than that right now ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Glad you really enjoyed Witch Queen @J4MES OX4D, its right up there in terms of campaigns of any game really. Each mission felt chunky, difficult and the story was one that keeps you invested to the very end. Lightfall, funnily enough is still the only one I haven't gone all the way through to complete would you believe. I love the aesthic of the planet and missions, but it set off in a strange way - maybe its also because Strand is a completely different class ability that for me broker my brain abit ๐Ÿ˜… I need to restart it actually to get to grips with it as lots of people use some abilities across many builds. Good news is you Final Shape and then this new one is apparently really good storywise. What do you think to the 'Journey' page? I find that drives me forward with better objectives than the world now as I can see how it can get confusing if you don't know where to go.

The gameplay coming from the test environment looks very good especially from a mechanics standpoint. Looks quite refined now plus there's cool things like being able to drag and heal injured team mates for revive. Definitely seems much closer to BF4 and 2042 but I hope there are larger maps that aren't as chaotic and bloated with effects. Who would've thought that ex-COD developers would save Battlefield lol!

  22. I did the Shadowkeep campaign earlier which took about 4 hours over a couple of days. I completely forgot about this back in the day as I did a lot of activities on the Moon but didn't actually buy into the expansion itself. Kinda glad I didn't pay full price for it when it released as it's largely just a load of busywork. The location is great but the story and quests are absolutely mediocre and progress being tied to bounties sucks. I can't complain too much as I got to experience it for free but this pales in comparison to the work and structure that The Witch Queen had. Beyond Light was even a solid step up although still lacking in some respects.

  25. I played it a few hours a week up until about 3 weeks ago. I just can't do the grind anymore, its pointless, and not really that much fun anymore. (For me, not others) Bungie is way to focused on Marathon, and them killing everyones light level back down to 10 again just seems really lame and an easy way out for Developers. This steam review pretty much sums it up for me: HOLY JUMPING DREIDELS BATMAN! bungle is releasing a new DLC? AND the servers are going to be busted for at least TWO DAYS!?! AWESOME!!!! what's that? they're also rolling out another round of sunsetting, removing hundreds of hours worth of game missions, grind, activities, a handful of unique areas with narratives and quests, AND all the loot they contained, despite over FIVE years of negative feedback and complaints?? sounds like a BLAST!!! i can't WAIT to have to explain to new players about what happened in the Season of ืฉืงืœ!! wait, say that again?! they're going to make nearly ALL of my armor and most of my guns OBSOLETE by POWER CREEPING them?!?? TAKE MY MONEY!!!! huh, there's more?!? bungie fired ALL of their good composers, so nearly 40% of the soundtrack is just REMIXES of songs we're ALREADY HEARD???? truly a MASTERCLASS in RECYCLING!!!! wait, you've got even more?!? you're telling me the new destination will have NO lost sectors, only THREE armor exotics on launch, in addition to neglecting gambit and crucible for ANOTHER year?? YABBA DABBA DON'T MIND IF I DO!!!!!! I LOVE GIVING BUNGIE MONEY FOR KICKING ME IN THE โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Funny you have come back to Destiny James, because I've just bought the next update after a long 12-18 months off it. They've tried to find different ways to answer the new player experience, but as any existing game continually updates, there's probably no one single answer. They've created the 'Portal' page to help new people. I prefer the map but if you don't know how Destiny works, it does the best job of pushing you to do things in the game that you don't need to know how the world map works. Beyond Light weirdly was one of the lesser story beats in terms of the campaign, albeit there were some cracking missions in it. The whole Beyond Light part introduced more so the best aesthetically pleasing raid of the lot and also a few fantastic story and gameplay inside the standalone exotic missions. You've then got to go through the new way they've delivered story campaigns and that takes it up a notch. Its interesting to see the way Destiny has gone. For all the annoyance of where the game has gone, I play campaigns elsewhere and they don't hit as hard as these. I think the gameplay loop is the one they need to focus on - so much going on, its easy to get lost. I have the new campaign which apparently is the best story but the new mechanic could somewhat make it not as exciting. Its not so bad so far after playing one mission. The PvE content now in the game is well worth it for ยฃ7.

  28. The turnover of staff whilst this idea had lots of momentum hasn't helped and its lost its way. Game didn't have much identity, or wow factor. They can save Bungie by doing a U-turn and really redefining the Destiny roadmap. It still is a huge moneymaker and doesn't take much to bring people into the game. Marathon won't be for many casuals and that kills it immediately.

  33. Hey everyone, I know FG has been pretty quiet for a while, so Iโ€™m not sure how much traction this will get โ€” but Iโ€™ve been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and thought it might be fun to start a series of threads revisiting some classic games from back in the day. First up: GTA Vice City โ€” a game Iโ€™m pretty sure a lot of us here played and loved. I wanted to kick things off by sharing some of my own memories and inviting others to do the same. Whether you played it solo, with friends, family, or just have moments that stuck with you โ€” missions, music, mayhem โ€” Iโ€™d love to hear it. For me, one of the biggest standouts from that era of GTA was the soundtrack. The 80s music was just perfect โ€” imagine cruising down the strip with Toto or Michael Jackson blasting on Flash FM. I honestly think if Rockstar ever remade Vice City (or folded the music into GTA VI), itโ€™d hit hard with fans. The setting was on point too โ€” that whole neon-drenched, Miami-inspired vibe. I still remember the first time I flew a helicopter in-game (pretty sure Vice City was the first GTA to have them?) โ€” planting bombs in a construction site, then later storming Diazโ€™s mansionโ€ฆ total chaos. And of course, who could forget spawning a Rhino tank just to wreak havoc around town? Or the classic 80s fashion โ€” Hawaiian shirts and pastel suits everywhere. I wasnโ€™t around for the 80s, but between the music and style, this game made me wish I had been. (Still a big fan of 80s rock!) So yeah โ€” anyone else feel like sharing some Vice City memories? Favorite missions, hilarious moments, radio stations, or just how it made you feel back then? Would love to read your takes.

Another video game crash can't come soon enough IMO. These big publishers seem to think that gamers have an unlimited amount of money so they promise shareholders that profits will climb every year. Which obviously isn't possible as there are only a limited amount of players and money. This means that when profits don't go up they sack staff to save money. It's not even unbelievable that MS can sack staff and then Phil Spencer bangs on about how great they're doing as it's just the norm now. It's very believable that they did it.

  35. That's funny because my local Jag dealership which I pass 10 times a week has a forecourt of about 70 of them and they ain't shifting. There is nothing clickbait about it - their sales have dried up and that's from their own press release. Just because their lines may be stalled doesn't mean there aren't tens of thousands of cars dotted around for sale.

I loaded a save where I still needed to investigate a few areas off "map". I am sitting there and just letting my population build. I am back up to 7 teams now, but I want 10 because of the swarms and animal life. Once I have that, and I have a few more walls and towers built, I will start messing with the objectives. Currently I have 2 rings of towers and walls, with 106 guards, but I want at least double that. I also need more cars! I would have said Forza but when I played the last one (my first experience of Forza) it felt a little overwhelming with races and events everywhere, that said the cars were great in it. I have been wanting a steering wheel recently and contemplating where to go with it. If you are happy to go a little bit older I think Test Drive unlimited was quite open for exploration and just going for a drive or I think I would second James with The Crew. If you wanted to go a little bit different play Red Dead redemption, get to the point where you get a horse and just potter around on a horse instead?
