PS5 Price increase....
Diddums and 3 others reacted to Plumbers Crack for a topic
I've just decided not to renew my PS subscription as I don't play that much anymore. I've snagged some old "not good enough for Windows 11" PCs from where I work part time and I'm now running a Minecraft server for me and my 6 year old grandson . It's great but there are times when I feel like changing my name from "Grandad?" πππ The PC he's using is the one you guys got me in 2019 (that day was epic!) so that's been repurposed as well, just needed a wifi card π4 points -

Couple tips for anyone starting this or considering starting this. Never stop grinding for resources. Early game itβs not too bad but you do get a taste for how much you will actually need when you build your first ship, mid to late game it gets very, very resource heavy. Always pick up food and potion ingredients. Better food means better bonuses, but needs more ingredients to make so grab it when you see it! Potions ingredients will also be very important as fights will only get harder and youβll need to heal more often if you canβt master the dodging and parrying. Upgrade your gear and your ships gear. I kept losing fights and sea battles over and over and over, upgrading my gear as high as I could for how far I had progressed definetly helped out a ton. Specially for sea battles against multiple ships. Once I upgraded the hull, cannons and my boarding crew it was like going from playing hardcore instadeath mode to playing the game normally so keep an eye on it! Before you start exchanging your insignias and letters of favour for reputation with the different factions, make sure you check the different provisioners!! They will all offer different schematics for upgrades, building and so on and early on silver will not be easy to get until you find the different factions own holdouts where they actually buy things off you. So donβt waste your silver early, look at the different provisioners, see what they offer at what reputation level and then decide wich factions to turn your insignias into. (Also note that upon switching game sessions the reputation does not carry over, but you can go back to the session where you have said reputation, buy what you need and then switch back and have what you bought still available.)2 points -

I'm surprised there isn't a thread on this yet given it's out in a a little over a month. There's some pretty good reviews coming out in the early previews highlighting the world variance and it feels more alive than previous titles. Slightly improved physics and tweaks to game modes with the inclusion of time trial that you can do on circuits that are accessible in free roam. I played FH4 a lot but didn't get on well with FH5 so much - playing it for a week or 2 when it was on game pass. I've decided to buy this one though so hopefully it's good π2 points -
Pretty much, yeah. Did you ever play the open world NFS games? As it's basically like that. Or GTA if you can't get out of your car. An open world you can cruise around, find stuff, easter eggs, collectibles or things like speed cameras to try and go the fastest through or drift zone challenges to score the most points on a section of road etc. Though to progress the story you need to do actual races but, like NFS or GTA, you need to go to the place on the map to start them. The world is multiplayer too so you'll find other people driving around or you can set up convoys to cruise around with or take photos.2 points

You can also adopt them and dress them up as well... There is a bit of a thing online of people amassing collections of them π2 points

I managed a couple of hours on this yesterday evening. As it suggested using a controller I decided I might give it a go with my Steam Link, which lets me play it on my TV. After literally 42 updates to the device (been a while since I used it lol) I played an hour on my TV. However, 1080p on a 4K TV, it didn't look great, so I went back on my PC monitor. I played it at 1440p and it looked beautiful, I was very surprised my card could handle it but I was getting just over 60fps on medium settings. What an amazing card it is, they've never made a better one imo. The good. I like the game a lot, it definitely scratched a certain itch. I think I'm going to want to spend a lot of time on it. I might start over on kb&m. It was fine with a controller but we'll see. I like going to chat with NPCs and they've got an assortment of English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish accents which is pretty cool. I've watched a few tips videos and the first thing I did was ring the town bell to open up more of the map. The game is massive. The bad. It crashed three times in two hours. Now that's annoying. Fortunately it autosaves whenever you do anything interesting, so no progress was lost. Hopefully more patches to the game will fix that. All in all I'm glad I picked it up. Not for Β£35 in the end, as that turned out to he a weird deal involving playing on another account...2 points -
Microsoft lower the price of Game Pass but remove COD.
phil bottle reacted to MrBiron for a topic
Microsoft Cuts Price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate WWW.IGN.COM Microsoft has dropped the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from $29.99 per month to $22.99 per month, while PC Game Pass is being reduced from $16.49 per month to $13.99 per month. Both changes... They added COD to Game Pass with BO6 but then had to increase the price to cover lost sales. Seems that they then lost subscribers due to the ridiculous price increase. So now they're lowering the cost and removing COD. What a complete fuck up by everybody involved π€£1 point -

It might have went better for them if the game was anygood. I got the game pass, tried cod for a month/maybe two. it was garbage so I cancelled the game pass. You can get a lot of the same games on steam cheaper than the cost of game pass so it makes not sense.1 point -

phil bottle reacted to Luseth for a topic
Yup, someone there thought that COD was the best game in the world and everyone wants to play it so from their perspective it made sense. Ultimately they were expecting everyone on the subscription to pay for the game that probably half of the people subbing wanted essentially subsidising those people. Absolute madness, in fact the initial outcry should really have been the wake up call they needed, instead they have persisted for a few months now and they won't suddenly get those subscribers back now. Many of them will feel a little burnt and will be hesitant about committing to the service again. I had the subscription for my handheld and ended up cancelling it and unlikely will pick it up again soon now unless some special games come to the service.1 point -

Itβs a mix of utmost frustration and fun for me, still get well pissed off every time I die to something silly, but I keep coming back anyways π The fact that questprogression carries over between sessions is nice, same with your gear and whatever you have on you or in your ship transfers between them too. I do wish the progress youβve made with the different factions also carried over as that can be quite a grind to level up, but can always go back to your own world and get what you need from them and then join a buddyβs game and youβll have it there too. Also the fact that to get a crafting recipe for armor or weapons, if someone else has the item you can borrow it for 2 seconds and youβll unlock it as a craftable is nice, on that note, if anyone gets the rapier of a thousand cuts, let me know. I need that little bastard π And if anyone needs pieces from the filibuster (I have almost the full set), conquistador or privateer let me know. Think I have some odd pieces of others too as well as the cutlass and two different clubs that I canβt remember the name of1 point -

When this comes to PS5, I'll purchase it but not doing any gamepass malarkey for it. Looks decent and I agree that a chill open world area to chill and find stuff at your leisure is a good, different way to essentially create the opening menu UI.1 point -

Yeah gamepass has become too expensive - Iβm not paying Β£23 a month for it. Especially when Iβm only interested in FH6 and you can get a PC key for Β£40. I tend to agree. De Zerbi is volatile, who knows how long before he has another tantrum...plus he stands up for domestic abusers, just lovely π Honestly the people at the top of the club are totally clueless. We have ex-Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham as our CEO. He's has a commercial background and knows sweet FA about football. Plus he has overseen the worst financial results we've ever had. His time running the Arse corresponds with their worst performing years in the Premiership. And fans thought Levy was bad.1 point -

I was busy this weekend and didn't get much chance to game but I did manage a couple of hours last night. Really enjoying the game so far, I'm still exploring the starting area, I've been sneaking into manor houses and looking for loot. Some have stongboxes with puzzles to navigate and these have items that help buff you up. Still getting to grips with a pretty complex control system. As I said in my Steam review, whoever designed the keyboard layout was obviously drunk. It's a really enjoyable game and I think I'll be playing it lot. Oh yes, you can pick up cats and pet them π₯°1 point -
I think it's indicative of the state of the gaming market moreso than the sale. There isn't much that is 'new' or 'innovative' and even if there were, the way these storefronts work you just end up looking at the same 100 or so games time and time again. I have tried to scroll through a few times recently and you scroll through and find you are looking at the same old tripe and just give up.1 point

I have seen those sort's of deals and really skeptical, I feel like you would buy it and they would reset the password somehow and steal the account back. I played a bit more yesterday and I think it was growing on me more and more, as you say it scratches an itch but I'm not entirely sure what itch that is π It's not perfect by any means but it's big, there appears to be quite a bit to do and explore and you have to just keep in mind that the game is initially a sandbox to play in and then the story is a secondary feature. I suppose a bit like how Fallout 76 turned out and how Outward is meant to be I think?1 point -

So I have had a couple of hours on it now so I will give you a rundown of the key areas of a game for me:- Visually it looks great for the most part, there are elements where the textures appear quite rough though, I am sure you will have seen the waterfalls online as one example. Story I think is ok so far though it's a little what the hell is going on at the start but it is slow going, I have read like above that the first few hours it takes a bit to get going and I am seeing that. Gameplay I think is somewhat weak, not for the fact there isn't much there but I think there is too much and it throws everything at you quite quickly, the number of controls / button presses I have been given in the first couple of hours is mad. I do think this would be better on PC rather than PS5 where you can much more easily customise your controls I imagine. I think you can see where the MMO rubs off from their previous game, there are elements like the knowledge that I am fairly sure comes from Black Desert from memory. I don't think it explains stuff particularly great, it tries to but sometimes I still don't feel like I fully understand how to do something, it would be good if there was someway to go back and review a tutorial item or something. World building from what I have seen so far is great, it's huge, there's not too much hand holding but enough some people won't moan. I don't know yet how invested I will get in places. There seems to be a wealth of things to do with mini games and such Then as far as a game goes I think it's actually quite fun, when I said there was a lot in it before, there are things in this game that you would not typically put in a medieval setting. The dev's have not forgotten this is a game, that they can do whatever they want and don't have to follow a formula or I don't know, this is a medieval game so everyone must follow a certain style. I think of Witcher and every character was the same, the combat is what you would expect of it but with this I have no idea what is going to be given to me or thrown at me next. It is not polished, it does not feel like a Rockstar game or a Nintendo Zelda but I am having fun with it so far especially now the game's opening up a bit and there is a bit more direction with quests that need completing and such. Oh the arm wrestling mini game will ache your thumb it's horrible π I have yet to come across any bugs on the PS5 and I had heard there were a few issues.1 point -
