Modern Warfare 2(022)

The game needs ninja/ dead silence. It's a bit of a crutch perk for me as I just hate the sound. As for maps, of the newer ones were any good surely people wouldnt want shipment 24/7 or old maps re-inteoduced?2 points -

The maps are always up for debate and scrutiny. 👀 Apart from MW19's elephant running on a tin roof footsteps, I think the footsteps were rather fair in Cold War and on Vanguard unless playing Search & Destroy they are barely noticeable. Also there is a ninja perk in Vanguard and Cold War.2 points -

How about an Avant-garde Alternative Funk/Soul/Motown/Nu-Metal/Hip-Hop/Indy/Progressive Bluegrass/Folk/Deathcore/Symphonic/Electronic Synth/Polka/Jazz/Surfer Rock/Stoner Metal Fusion band that includes Yodelling and Mongolian Throat Singing and Gregorion Chanting?2 points -

It's supposed to be pretty much the same as MW2019. If it actually has decent maps then that's no bad thing. The core gameplay of MW2019 was solid. Although, as I've said before, if the game has super loud footsteps then I'll avoid it.2 points -

MW2 by name and MW3 by branding. Very much doubt it'll be able to live up to those classics and I'm really not sure on the name conflict with the iconic original. A reveal must be pretty imminent but my interest is fairly minimal. I don't have much confidence left in the franchise and Microsoft's near-acquisition of the company had no bearings on development or likely anything post-launch so this is still very much a COD title of recent. That being said, IW are probably the strongest part left of the series but they are still a shadow of their former selves and unless the cheating epidemic is addressed, it could be tarnished before it's even got started.1 point -

I totally get the footsteps thing, it doesn't always bother me. What usually happens is your team mates don't have quiet footsteps and they are all around. I swear team mates loud footsteps get me killed lol. There has definitely been good and bad new maps over the last few Cods. Personally I love Shipment because I'm a camo grinder and nothing is better than that map (aside longshots). However there are plenty of older maps that have never been redone. Things like Terminal and highrise which is constantly asked by the community. It's just usually the Nuketown/Summit/Jungle constantly and shit like crash, vacant etc. Personally I would love a remake of Favela, that map was badass. Or Black ops 1 Grid or Kwaloon sp?1 point -

Man, this is a hard choice. I have way too many to choose from. Pizza is definetly up there, as I do love me a good pizza pie. There's a shawarma place in town that is 100% the best in the city. I'm always a sucker for some cheeseburgers, fast food or a dedicated place like The Works here in town. They do some crazy stuffed burgers that are amazing. Sub sandwiches are a staple in the house as well. Specialty poutines at a local place here are really good too, and we can't forget wings and chicken sandwiches. Fuck it, I'm not choosing... I love them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 point -

Finished up the old west scenario this morning. That was a fun chapter. You begin play as an "outlaw" being confronted by a bounty hunter. After evading, you come upon a small town that you eventually have to help defend against a group of outlaws terrorizing the area. You spend the fair majority of the chapter finding resources to use for traps before the final encounter to help reduce the number of enemies in said battle. That was a fun one to be sure. Onto to the Present Day chapter.1 point -

I forgot about that. That's also something that added to the camping as players could just sit in a corner and be hidden from UAVs, plus there is the fact that gunfire didn't show on the mini map. It's like IW made this game specifically for campers.1 point -

I think that's the thing though. Many people back when it comes out give over the top reviews and talk like CoD has been a 3/10 game for years. 7.5 is a fantastic score for a CoD game, but I appreciate that the game is only NOW far better because it released with so little maps. Map rotation now is so good. We get to play so many different maps and it never feels like it gets old. This has always been the case, although some games bullshit can stop that too. This game doesn't. Thursday nights event on CoD saw 5-6 of us group up and dominate all night. The only time where it felt like we probably need to practice like we used to was for a few games of Search and Destroy. More so because we haven't played that in years (sad face). I'm not finding it a campfest atm. Maybe its just because of the years moved the sweaty players away, or that map rotation is good enough to force that not happening. I'll argue with you to the end of time that now Dead Silence not in the game as a perk has made it a better game because that invokes MORE camping. Honestly, I think you'd love grouping up again on this. The content I think was the main killer for people's views when it initially came out. I think the only spawn trapping I see now is on Shipment, which lets face it, is a clusterfuck abomination of a map that you are supposed to just have fun with rather than worry about spawns and K/D. It's the world we live in today - AAA games of the last 3-8 years are the strongest out there because of the constant updates they've had. Very few AAA games now get the content that you would expect in games 10 years old where we all got it from launch. Its a shame but maybe the positive is we are now seeing these games flourish, and for people that haven't bought them, they're only £15 pre-owned.1 point -

I don't think MW19 was awful, but it only had about 6 maps for 6v6 traditional MP. They added Shoothouse and Shipment eventually that was a saving grace. Considering we got half of the available maps in the beta. And of those 6 maps, 2 were the Infamous Picadily and Azhir Caves. St Petrograd wasn't much of a looker either, the map design made it impossible to enjoy high end aerial streaks as well. Over time as you say more patches came and the game got a bit better. MW19 was different than all the Cods, eventho it did well and was well received to some extent. Lot's of people liked it, some on the fence and quite a few old school players hated it. It was the different mechanics and trying to close the skillgap and cater to newer players. That being said, playing with friends makes it ultimately a better experience. Even if it's a terrible match and we get whooped it's still banter. It's even more fun winning. The gunsmith was revolutionary, the game had good ideas. Sometimes the execution wasn't there on others. The game itself isn't a 10/10 or a 2/10. If I was rating it myself personally I would give it a 7.5.1 point -

I think in hindsight, the COD community overreacted on this game. Yep, I said it. A cod game in recent years is actually decent. Maybe with age and patches its become that way but i'm not sure how people felt at the time. I don't think it was the worst cod feeling back then. Definitely way more positive comments than Cold War and Vanguard for sure. We'll see what the gameplay is like but if you've had a break off CoD for some years, I don't see why its not worth a punt this time round - especially because MW2019 IS decent.1 point -

Microsoft have been awfully hands-off so far - personally IMO I don't think they will make a presence on the Activision Blizzard brand until the lawsuit drama is concluded and CEO Bobby Kotick is ousted. They've already cancelled COD for next year so I'm guessing they will allow for all their existing projects to publish, let everything blow over and then get a foothold in the company. I wouldn't be surprised if they re-branded it either just to bury the negative image that has plagued them in the last decade.1 point -

However much this is true are we sure they even know how to make a good game afterall they actually think they did a good job with the first one in2019. Making a good call of duty should be the easiest thing ever especially as they have all the info/assets they could ever need.1 point -

I think there is a lot of pressure on both companies to succeed. I'm sure it's in everyone's interest to make it good and bring in those huge profits they are expecting. Hopefully for all our sakes it's an absolute belter of a game. It needs to be on the same level as MW2/BO2 imo.1 point -

Oh, i know they won't want that one 🤣 I just think they will at least be reviewing upcoming releases at a high level so if anything they don't want to be associated with, they will force it to be reworked. I wouldn't be surprised if you see the live date get pushed back because of it actually. Its very much more like Microsoft than Activision to do something like that to 'get it right first time'.1 point -

Riff Machine reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
I mostly don't like using multiple launchers is the main reason - prefer to have all my games in one place ideally aka Steam. Battlenet isn't awful but it has nothing that makes it worth existing in terms of features. It's a simple and small enough platform that does the job but more of an inconvenience than anything. It's also a platform dominated by Blizzard gatekeepers so if you have an issue or criticism, it's stifled or silenced pretty quickly.1 point -

Both are true actually @Greboth. CoD will always have a big pool of players, so it would be nice for them to experiment with: Casual Core - CBMM Casual Hardcore - CBMM Competitive Core - SBMM Competitive Hardcore - SBMM On a game that still gets bought by the millions, splitting the pools like would get the desired effect. I don't want to be stomped all the time and would rather see how well I can do, but I also understand when we just wanna have a laugh and kick back in some random casual modes where games can be all over the place. Overwatch has it, Rainbow 6 has it, I don't see why they wouldn't do the same here. P.S. Obviously SBMM in those modes above could have some element of connnection based checks so you aren't playing a random thats on a ridiculously opposite ping to everyone else perhaps.1 point -

I know the meta changes all the time and guns get buffed or nerfed. Never was much of a Warzone guy, but contrary to belief some of the MW weapons hold up or are on par with the Cold War and Vanguard ones. Except the new season DLC ones they are always OP to encourage people to buy the bundles. Then a few weeks or month later they nerf them to the ground rendering them useless.1 point -

Playing with friends always makes it more funerer 100%. I think what turned me off Warzone was the fact that instead of updating and making it fresh, they instead lumped 3 games worth of material into the one and made the previous games guns absolutely worthless. It just doesn't seem fair if you get me. I never owned Cold War so my loadouts that were made from MW weapons were underpowered against guns that were decades older. That said, I'll definitely play it again 😂😂1 point -

I think there's reason to have some faith in it this time out. I can honestly see a small rise in quality given the recent sale of Activision. Not ground-breaking i'm sure but it should do the franchise a little goodness. The fact the logo looks like MW2019 follow up holds good signs as its definitely the best one out of the last 3/4 years. Still very well supported and Warzone definitely helps it for that reason. You should give Warzone a go with us, its honestly how you play it that helps you realise its more fun that it sounds. Too many people go into it in a sweaty mentality and think they should be winning or coming top 10 all the time but thats stupid. When you relax and play the game similar to MP mode, just on a larger scale, the game does feel more rewarding. I tend to think MW2019 has a really good following here now Gaz, might be worth dropping on it on the weekend for a few MP games. Dead silence hasn't been a huge problem in it of late and I can see why its given out differently due to how many people want to sound whore all the time - it would just waste a perk slot imo. New Content™ everybody 😎 I'm not as hyped as you are but definitely higher hopes than normal. And hopefully the other night on Warzone changed your opinion somewhat on the mode. Definitely has more legs in that mode than people think.1 point -

While I should be excited about this, as mw2 was my favorite cod ever and I spent months of game time playing it, I can’t help but think it’s gonna be another game that I play for a few weeks and then never touch again. I hope it re captures the cod magic for me but I won’t keep my hopes up. I’m sure I’ll still get it unless it looks like a dumpster fire. I have zero interest in BR games so hopefully it has a good MP selection and some re hashes of my favorites from back then.1 point
