Well, what a year this has been huh? I think we can all agree, to put it bluntly, that this year can go fuck itself. That said, one thing that's been a constant throughout this fuckup of a year is this place, the people that make it, and the website that Leigh won't shut up about. It's not gone unnoticed by most of us that Leigh has put some significant work in to this place over the last few months and kept the ball rolling as much as possible, whilst still being the responsible adult we all love and sometimes need. So to that end, and with FG being FG, we clubbed in together to do something we all know Leigh would appreciate the hell out of. So we rummaged around sofas and sold our bodies on the streets to be able to do it, but Dad, you can cancel your PS5 pre-order as we've got one for you. Thanks to all who participated in this, regardless of how you participated it's always appreciated and the love is always felt in this community. I usually get a whiff of something happening around this place as I'm usually speaking to most of you where I possibly have a minute free but genuinely didn't expect this to ever happen. I can't quite thank you all enough. For you all to do such a thing at such a hard time in life right now, its overwhelming really. All that's left to say is that I apologise for nudging/nagging/annoying your daily busy lives of late - I've always had a vision that FG can be there for shit like this more often, and help other people, especially FGers like you, that truly need it. I just never expected you guys do exactly that for me because you're all way more worthy people than myself. You take the time out to come here and that's has always been more than enough for me. With the community spread across various platforms and also games, during this time where everyone's lives are fractured and dripping in FUD that little nudge, at least for me, is comforting. For all the shit I give you, I'd be even more pissed off if you stopped, and I mean that. So keep poking and prodding. Again porkies. Stop talking yourself down. We've had the announcement and pricing and everything else about next gen systems. And my answer to them is......why bother? Neither system - PS5 or Xbox Series - have any system exclusives coming out this year that makes me think "I *REALLY* need that game". Microsoft have said there won't be any exclusives to the XSX for a couple of years. Even games like the new Horizon or Spiderman game on PS5 are also coming to the PS4 as well. Then there is the cost factor. Both systems will cost at least £400 (let's just ignore the XSS for now). If you wanna expand the storage that will cost an arm and a leg; yes you can use bog standard external HDD but to run the games you have to keep installing and uninstalling them to the system SSD. A new controller for the PS5 will cost £60 (at least with the XSX you can use any Xbox controller). Neither system has an optical out so if you wanna use your old headset you'll either need to buy an adaptor(the Astro adaptor is £40) or you're just going to have to buy a new headset. And we also have the pricing of games. A few publishers have said that games will cost £70. Sony have said games will cost up to £70. A £10 increase for what? RaY tRacING!! Thank fuck I can still buy games on disc so I can at least sell/trade when I'm done*. So, basically, fuck next gen for at least another year. I'll stick with my PS4 Pro and Xbox One X for now. *we really need a section on these forums to buy and sell games.

I agree but then I’ve never bought a console day 1. With their desire to support old consoles hampering the new, it isn’t usually until a year+ that the new consoles take over and we see the new hardware truly leveraged. Also...PC master race 😂

I almost cocked up last night when we were talking last night about the Sony event. You do so much for all us mate, you’re the best of us so only right we occasionally do something for you now and then. Don’t apologise for nagging us though mate, you keep this place together with your nagging. They say about herding cats is difficult but some how you manage to herd us cunts and do we need it.

I'd strongly advise not to pre-order until there is physical units in-store and the shelves are rammed. Do not lay any money down with retailers or sites because I'm willing to bet a lot of them don't even know if they will able to get stock in let alone meet the demand of the pre-orders they've taken. What usually happens is an almighty scramble for the next gen of consoles on release and then come January there are so many available, shops start bundling in stuff to offload them.

At the moment, the only thing that would tempt me to buy a PS5 is if my PS4 dies. Ive had it since a couple of months after launch day and managed to keep it going since. It sits on top of some game boxes to help keep it cool and has a strip of Sellotape over the eject disc sensor to cure that fault. Some compressed air helps keep the dust at bay I think I’ll probably wait until the bundles start arriving to see if there’s anything I fancy. I think the PS5 game prices won’t stay at £65+ for long....I think they’ll eventually be at a premium of + £5 or £6 over the PS4 version at the discount vendors

I was out went the event popped up but first thing I was surprised about was the UK and the rest of Europe getting it one whole week later. It can only be Covid-19 thats made them do that, UK is a huge market for them to miss getting it here for an entire week. Unfortunately the event didn't say much about pre-orders. Initially people in the US were trying at GameStop whilst in the UK it wasnt clear until late that you can get it from Game. However pre-orders aren't available as 1am last night. So, where else? There are places. The disc version is available on Very. I haven't checked other places as mine is pre-ordered from there. Plus, something to note - there aren't any bundles with games anywhere just yet. Understandable to an extent as we all don't know what could be available in the shops! Anyone else grab a pre-order?

The only console I ever bought day one was the Dreamcast. At the time, that looked like a significant upgrade compared to the other consoles available. Since then, there hasn’t been that “Oh my god! I need it” feel for other consoles. I’m fine with waiting a bit. Plus, you know, global pandemic and that kinda stuff.

I've bagged 2 pre-orders with game. Went in store and got allocated launch day units. Very let us down as we had pre registered but they never really followed it up.

Can't see the point of pre-ordering the PS5 for release day this time round. Did it for the PS4, but that seemed worth it at the time. Like has been said, no exclusives or anything shout about will be coming through until next year. Therefore, I am going to be a miserly old fucker and keep my hard earnt until early next year at least, not bothered about getting it pre-Christmas this time round. Not even slightly interested in lining Microsoft's pockets by buying the XBox!

Please be one week lol! It'll probably be a year but it will be worth the wait. Never got to play this game and always wish they remastered it.

For the first time ever, I will not be getting a new console either day one or even within the first few months. There is no need to pay £70 to play an old gen title like Assassin's Creed Valhalla when I can get it on PC for £36. Both consoles have a very limited selection of release titles too. I'd rather wait and then pick up a better version of the consoles i.e PS5 'Slim' for instance rather than being stuck with a first gen unit all the way or having to upgrade to a new model. I had my PS4 since 2014 and it took 4 YEARS before quality games began to release. When I look back at the shite I had - Killzone Shadowfall, Infamous Second Son, Watch Dogs, FIFA 14, Remasters galore - it was just a waste of money and it wasn't until God of War did the games truly begin to shine. All the other multi-platform guff I had on PC for much cheaper. I think the PS5 looks very good and Demon Souls will be an amazing launch title but I'm not sure if it's viable yet. Let everyone pre-order and then just pick up a better unit in the future. If the cooling is as bad as it is on the PS4, I may never pick up one at all though..

Yep, all the games I want to play will be on PC. If didnt own a console or PC I would 100% get the Xbox though, in installments 🤗

If you're gaming in 1080p then it'll last many more years but if it's 1440p then the card will probably only have another couple before you'll be gaming with barebone settings and missing out on all the lavish new graphical features. If you go up to a 3070 then that'll give you a good few years of 2K at the very least with a strong performance return and the RTX extras.

Cmon Tommy, you know better than to ask these questions. It all depends on what you play, what resolution, what graphics settings and what you'd consider a playable framerate. Off the cuff I'd say another two years easily provided you're not expecting 100fps @4k on everything in a couple of years time. This new 3k series of cards are looking good. Everyone's raving about them because they're such a huge leap above the 2080ti, however I think this says more about the 2080ti than it does about the 3k series. The difference between the 2080ti and the 1080ti is pretty much negligible, whereas the difference between the 980ti and the 1080ti is massive, the same again between the 2080ti and the 3080. It's always been like this with Nvidia, massive upgrade ---> mediocre upgrade ---> massive upgrade ---> mediocre upgrade. AMD has been awfully quiet during all this, I can't wait to see what the 6 series cards offer. With them shitting all over Intel they've likely been able to plough a fucktonne of wedge in to R&D in to their GPU arm. We can only hope it pays off. Never know with AMD, it could be an absolute stonker, or it could be another Radeon 7.

The more the merrier.....just don't beat me else I might definitely hold it against you 😆 It would take a bit of fabrication but you could certainly use an old kart as a rig. I don't know about Thrustmaster but certainly Logitech and Fanatec CSL pedals can be taken out of their housing so you could easily mount the throttle and brake separately in the kart frame. The wheel would be a bit more trouble but I'm sure nothing you couldn't work out. It sounds like the only real question is where could you put it that doesn't end in divorce....

Really down for this boys! Just let me know when and where. I'm trying to work out if I could utilise an old kart chassis I have as a racing rig but I’m terrified it could end up in divorce when the wife comes home and finds it in the front room 😄
