  1. Planet Earth is a phenomenal series and the third one is now out on BBC. Attenborough is a legend in whatever he narrates.

If sports docs intrigue you too, The Last Dance is incredibly good. I never followed Basketball at all, just knew about Chicago Bulls when I was a kid but nothing more. An incredible insight to how big Michael Jordan was and transformed the sport.

Gaming wise, its not a documentary but a film which is based on a true story (so close enough 😅) would be Tetris. Absolutely superb and learnt something new about the history of it.

  2. I'm personally looking to try and get my PS1 ready to be able to play the original ones again at some point over weekends. They were stellar games back in the day @slamminbones, I agree. For me it was actually the puzzles and abit of the story that sucked me in. I remember once as a teenager being stuck on Tomb Raider 3 round my Nan and Grandads house and all of a sudden I had my Dad, Grandad and Uncle trying to help me get past this certain bit to know where to go. Ahh the days before YouTube was a thing 😄

@WelchyTV, I think it is hard to like remasters if you never grew up with them as I feel like they are always targeted at the crowd that played them before. If you like puzzle type games and work past the graphics (because obviously it won't look and feel the latest gen), then I'd say its a cheap pick up to say the least. Also depends how much you enjoy playing those older games too. I think you have to have a certain brain now to get past the graphical side as lots of younger games switch off if it looks old, which you would expect some of this to be that way.

Ok so the video is practically ready to go. I will be uploading it to YouTube and to this website. I just wanted to check that it is ok for me to use the Forever Gaming Logo on the Thumbnail for the video?

I assume it would be but thought it’s better to double check! If someone can let me know that would be great and il have the video uploaded soon!

Yes its fine to use for just this video @WelchyTV, thanks for offering to do this.

  4. Yes! I saw this a few days ago, and should've shared so thanks for doing that @Luseth! I think its incredible how the way its evolved and also how much love that this game still gets after all those years.

I watched this one which gave a bit of a backstory into how the world record and what you physically can aim for in Tetris.

  5. No, we haven't gone. We wanted to, but the cost just meant we couldn't make it work and now our kids are virtually in their teens so I think we've missed the magical boat for this. If anyone can afford the cost, I think its a worthwhile trip for the memories. Just a bit hectic i've heard given how much you have to cram into 1-2 days, alongside the plane journey too.

If I see any tips from some of my IRL people i've grown up around, i'll share them here.

How do you get the app?

It's a web app via your browser. Go to FG via your browser and click the browser 3 dots (Best on Chrome I find on your phone). On that menu somewhere it should say Install FG App and it'l do that so you get instant notifications to your phone ❤️🖤

  7. A couple of things initially @Luseth - I think its fantastic you are trying to find ways to keep having a positive life and find some savings from somewhere, life is definitely too short to sit here thinking shoulda, woulda, coulda. In the same breath its a real shame that your hobby that you seem to love so much has to take the hit. If it was me, I'd change the goals to be more like 'principles'. This way you make decisions based on all of the above but it makes you feel like if for some reason a top game you really want comes out, you don't have to feel like you are restricting yourself. Thats just my 2p on that.

With me, I always try to not pay full price too with the latest games we play. I'll still get some games through the year on release but thats usually kept for games we've all been talking about and I'm excited to play day 1 with lots of other FGers. I procrastinate naturally, which is truly annoying for me but probably means I don't spend all my money straight away. I can look and talk about a game for months and still not pick it up until I finally get it in the basket....and then sometimes wait for days/weeks again 🤣

Outside of those moments though, I've restricted myself over many years with games, lucky to pick up so many of my retro games at such a cheap price out of bargain bucket Gamestation all those years ago. My hobbies are gaming, FG, then football for my daughters team and Rovers. And with other things, like food, drink, etc, I've just never been into it all so much so games is really where I spend my money...and on FG stuff of course for my stupid sins 🙈😅

  8. Being brutally honest, I need to remind myself what actually comes out this year! 😅 I would love for Destiny 2's conclusion to the Light and Dark saga to be epic as its been 10 years of Destiny and a very good game most of us have played for years doesn't go crap overnight. Would love to just chill and enjoy the different activities on it with others like we used to do.

I'm likely to go back and look at my back catalogue and try and complete some games thoroughly too. Do we know if any of the early access games we've played over the past few years are getting big updates? Would love it if Valhalla got one.

I'm off to check 2024 game releases...

Baldurs Gate 3 - The relationships between characters, the creativity in how you can approach quests, I even got around one boss I was struggling with by talking to him with one person and then pushing him off a cliff with another. If anyone ends up picking this up on PS5 I would be up for playing a co-op playthrough and approaching things a bit differently ^_^

This is why i'm buying it and looking forward to it even more now I know you can play turn based.

Zelda because it's the only game on there I've played and it's brilliant.

I don't know how you coped with the breaking weapons mechanic, killed all the fun I was having on the first one for me!

I have cancelled my subscription and it comes to an end later this month, it's ok saying it's just £3 a month but multiply that by the current number of people that use it and that is a ridiculous amount of additional income, income that Bezos certainly does not need, think about how much money Amazon bring in do they really need it or is it profiteering and banking on people to be of the same opinion as you Lee?

Don't get me wrong, my statement is factual and with no emotional connection to it. I think its always good to understand how life works - from a 100% business perspective is a shrewd move. From a moral, ethical point of view, its not needed in any way. Amazon have enough money in my eyes as they have effectively created one of the best way for people to shop in 2024 - again, I say 'best' knowing its subjective, but I mean in a factual sense because we benefit from ease of use, although I really do miss going to Gamestation and browsing all the physical games available.

I think they've been one of the few that are able to speculate to accumulate companies, that allow them to offset costs from different bits like films, tv series creations, through people sending in Prime memberships when I bet most people don't even make full use of quick deliveries like we do in our house.

I agree about Amazon being the best for money, fast delivery, video, music, pictures....I'm sure there's more. Netflix now is so expensive it's ridiculous, if you want the Ultra HD subscription it's around £18 a month which is stupid. Disney is a pretty good price baring in mind how much there is to watch on there and the fact they get new films pretty soon after release.

It's ridiculous that they're adding adverts, they definitely don't need to do that with the money they make. I read that Netflix has increased the amount for a subscription because more people were buying subscriptions....that doesn't make any sense, surely the more people who have it the cheaper it should be?

I think maybe I should have led with this as when you start comparing services, then you start to create the thoughts if a subscription is something I should pay for or not. Against Netflix, Disney and the rest, none of them give me what I regularly use on Amazon. And as you say Rich, weirdly, Amazon seems to be cheaper, not many restrictions to watching their service, etc.

Its a good thread to get peoples views on this stuff. I'm still interested in if anyone has a free service like YouTube, do they pay to get rid of ads at all? Just a really interesting subject as years ago, FG was gonna have ads on here but I never wanted them but you then do have to rely on the goodness of peoples hearts to care about being around and donating to keep stuff rolling. Clearly the big corps don't need to do that as much know but its clear to see adverts must be an absolute monumental money spinner in this day and age for them.

  11. Received an email yesterday saying no charge increase but adverts will be played from Feb 5th. If you don't want to see them an ad-free option of £2.99 a month is available.

I don't think many are bothered about adverts. Sure, its annoying but as long as its similar to youtube where you can skip them and it isn't every 10 minutes into a film, I can cope with that. Clever marketing though offering just £3 a month which pretty much every human being earning can afford, even though they are already taking the Prime membership off you for the facility of using Video alongside Prime deliveries.

Taking everything into account (I can't beleive I'm saying this) but as subscriptions go for what you get back, the Amazon Prime one is the one we just wouldn't get rid because it gives you something across multiple services (Next-Day delivery, etc).

Just wondered what other people thought about this? Do people pay stuff like £3 a month to get rid of ads because its less than buying one coffee a month?

I was trying to find a thermal scope that I liked, there are a couple of variants with different colours and the red one's that I liked couldn't even see anyone through the fekkin smoke. There was a white one that was good but a little too zoomed in for my liking during general combat.

Good point, I need to find one for me too. I may look at a few more gun camos before I do though so I have 3-4 loadouts I can just go to whenever I need to. I feel like I only have 1-2 I can use when I need to pull my ass out of the shit zone 😅

  13. I think we all agree on that then @techno and @Middle Class Caveman, but we're only a few people that play a specific part online whereas they'll be many people out there that would say scrap the campaign and just have GTA Online part, given how huge it is.

I would love to see some or all of the campaign drift into the Online side. We have heists, which work extremely well. I can't see why they can't do exclusive private Online sessions for the campaign missions they want to lock down for you when they don't want you to have help on it.

Are you thinking of a separate Event or just one off nights? The group chat is always open to new people.

Separate nights. So far I can only see we can do 'Playoff Nights' when its that time of the month. I'm thinking we do some more tournaments for fun - maybe a solo one but a duo one too as I think you can do 2v2 can't you on FC24?

  15. Last few nights FG went on another flying winstreak. Mitch, @Lurchzy, @Macca89, @Luseth, @Greboth were on board and last night it ended at around 35 for me with the same peeps including @Misneach_ and @LordBaguette. A great game where we were 98-0 down on Terminal and flipped it around to win 250-221. Even a late game on Highrise would you believe was losing for half the game on Domination but managed to turn the tide to win by around a small 15 points in the end. Trying to fend off the opposition on Point B on that map is a nightmare.

Can't believe I have to sing Tom's praises but Smoke grenades have super helped in tight games when you want to lockdown a flag or a hardpoint.

  16. I kind of get what you mean @Middle Class Caveman, the open world is incredible large, and in fairness, requested by public demand. I think that works fantastically well for GTA Online. Campaign wise I kind of got bored after a few missions and wanted to go off-piste with mates. The Heists they created in GTA5 were class and hope more of that formula will exist moving forward. Lets hope Online mode will be released at launch and not just the campaign in Q1 2025.

After a bit of discussion during MNF we thought it might be a good idea to name some of the AI players after FG members that had previously played for the club on different versions of FIFA. What do you guys think?

I like the idea - although would love more to get involved too so FC24 could be played on different nights whenever people wanted to, rather than just MNF. Separate question that is though 😄

  18. DMZ really was a big plus that Call of Duty have created - I'm not sure incorporating this with the Zombies mode really makes it worthwhile, but I suppose it gives Zombies modes abit more playability now. I think they should create more of the 'Raids' they did which sat on the DMZ world as we would know it. Complex missions that got you doing different objectives is definitely the way to go. Probably will get more playability than the MW3 campaign...
