  1. Fortnites map is quite bland and tiny whereas the one in PUBG has so much detail, scale and places to learn. No match is ever the same and the map never feels stale. I think one map a year for a game like PUBG would be appropriate and that gives the developers time to craft something in detail that is balanced and enjoyable to play. As long as the terrains are varied; the maps could offer a good mix especially if the cosmetic clothing becomes more of a tactical factor.
  2. I'm actually quite surprised EA did this because Titanfall has been a very weak brand that has performed fairly poorly for them and they already have enough FPS shooters on their books. They then buy Respawn for $400m to get creative control of the studio.....to make another Titanfall!? I can only assume EA bought them to close the studio down! Respawn have also surprised me as I thought they didn't want to be tied to a publisher. Looks like they've sold themselves out just so they can get Titanfall 3 funded. It's quite sad as this team is very talented and if they remained in Call of Duty, not only would that franchise have not declined as much but they would have had security. Their pesistence with Titanfall is just like beating a dead horse and I can't believe EA are now aiding them to produce another one when the publishers could have commissioned anything else and something more likely to rival COD. Well EA have wasted $400m which is good.
  3. Internet speed doesn't really matter in this game because of the artificial lag comp. You can have the best internet connection in the world but if someone in the lobby has a bad one; everyone sinks to that level of compensation and as the matchmaking is based on skill and not connection in COD games these days; chances are the algorithms could pair you with someone on the other side of the world and your connection quality gets quashed. At the minute the game is running on P2P until Sledgehammer fix the servers but even when matches are reverted back to the hybrids; it'll be the same old story. Ping and connction bars mean jack in COD as ever though as it doesn't give an accurate representation. Only videogames that have either proiritised connection matchmaking or real searchable dedicated servers will you get anywhere near a consistent and quality experience.
  4. It's double XP weekend but Sledgehammer has taken their dedicated servers offline and implemented P2P. Jesus. After the patch yesterday, Headquarters has been restored along with leaderboards and the people getting their levels reset for playing private games has apparently been fixed but seems like the cheap servers Activison are using are really struggling in performance and stability terms. Quite a sloppy launch all in all especially after a reasonable beta phase stress-test.
  5. England 0-0 Germany. Gareth Southgate's finest moment against Germany - wonder if Pizza Hut will get him to do their xmas advert after that Not a bad game and performance but shame we can't do that in real matches.
  6. I think this is one of the strongest line-ups of core maps we've had in Call of Duty since the original Black Ops. I don't think there's any that truly stand out as iconic but they are all really well made and matches flow superbly. I quite like London Docks and Sainte Marie Du Mont along with Gibraltar and they feel very appropriate for COD. Jury is still out on Gustav Cannon and I can't decide if that's a shocking map or something ingenious - it does look fantastic though and something a bit different. I'd take these over the hell that was Stonehaven, Siege, Chasm, Free Fall and every map seen in Infinite Warfare along with Black Ops 3's cartoony ones with conveniantly placed walls to run on and places to jump over. Sledgehammer have done a good job with these and that's without DrDisrespect as designer!
  7. I went with Airborne to get going and now I mix that with the standard Infantry class.
  8. I don't think there's a co-op feature unfortunately but it's definitely worth experiencing if you get a chance. Much more interesting than fighting robots on a train in Black Ops 3 that's for sure!
  9. Finished the campaign on veteran today and it was pretty good on the whole. Some great missions with variety and originality but some others that were pretty generic Call of Duty ones. Definitely one of the better campaigns though and I like how you have to request ammo and medkits rather relying on automatic pickups and regenerating health. A couple of wonky tank and plane sections and some dodgy checkpoints but there were some great ideas in this one including stealth-oriented sections. Cinematics were fantastic too.
  10. More pictures of the new map https://twitter.com/PLAYERUNKNOWN/status/928698641484800000/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pcgamer.com%2Fhave-a-look-at-four-new-pubg-desert-map-screenshots%2F
  11. I just don't find it fun really. One side I went 29-0 with minimal effort and the next it was just getting picked off at objectives by nades and headglitching snipers the same way as our team was cruising. It's great if you want to headshot boost with scoped weapons but I think it's badly flawed and they should at least restrict explosive spam. Also losing 3 maps from the core rotation in all the modes to make way for mode-specific maps on a flawed playlist that doesn't hold wide appeal is a bit disappointing for me too. Battlefield, Overwatch and Battlefront have got this mode bang on the money but it's not well thought out here IMO.
  12. War mode is probably the worst game mode I have ever seen in FPS gaming history. I'm not sure if it's the mode itself or the way it's desiged but it is outrageously easy in defence and you can snipe all day as the attackers are exposed and open most of the time. I have never seen anything so unbalanced or poorly concocted and it's a shame these maps have come at the cost of others in the core rotation for all the other modes. They've basically tried to turn part of the game into Overwatch and it just doesn't work. No wonder k/d isn't a factor and deaths aren't counted as on attack you can easily go 5-25 but in defence you can cruise through without even getting shot. Doesn't help that the maps are incredibly narrow and linear and each map turns into a clusterfuck worse than a match on Demolition on Nuketown. Good idea copied but horrendous execution.
  13. Lag compensation is horrific in this game I think. If 11 users have a good connection but just one person has dial up or is on the other side of the world; it sinks the whole lobby. I actually miss the host advantage days as at least only one player had an advantage rather than 11 players playing at a disadvantage. Artificial lag comp is awful for Call of Duty and has been since its implementation. It is staggering that with P2P they just don't go back to host with the strongest connection plus the best matched players to fill the lobby. Lag comp + SBMM is just too much of an algorithmic strain on the matchmaking. The hit registry is very inconsistent too and even in the campaign it's all over the place.
  14. Great mission and one of the best in the franchise IMO. Campaign was a bit run of the mill up until then but that was a very nice change of direction with lots of variety and some stunning backdrops. I was getting sick and tired of fields and bushes until this
  15. This is another COD game where SMG's are dominant it seems plus users who have unlocked more weapon gear have a big advantage too. Going into a fast paced match with a barebone AR like the M1 Ariana Garand against Timmy twenty two hours a day Tryhard with his fully prestiged and kitted PPSH, STG44 or LGBT SMG and it's impossible. I only started playing yesterday after the weekend and was at such a disadvantage right off the bat that I had no choice roll with the SMG just to compete to some standard.
  16. Cheers Rich! Boots on the ground really makes the world of difference. Also the maps are outstanding and the matches flow really well instead of the stupid futuristic ones with conventiantly placed walls and places to jump around and over. WW2's maps are definitely up there with the old COD games it seems and that's has surprised me. Sledgehammer have done a good job by the looks of things and I hope the state of the franchise and Activision hasn't put off more people coming back. Too early to say if the game is going to be the saviour but it's a wake up call that boots on the ground is where the franchise belongs.
  17. Got a free copy and managed to sneak in a few games and I had more fun than I thought. I accidently keep pressing the jump key expecting to boost jump so I need to get that out of my system I played mostly KC on the maps that were in the beta but there were no issues. I also played on another map which was insanely long and open. Surprisingly good despite having all the ingredients that usually make maps crap. Can't remember the name. End of match stablility and loading needs some work it seems though but on the whole not bad. Just praying that Activision don't ruin it. Just gonna enjoy it as best I can while I can.
  18. Slaven Billic sacked. Moyes favourite. Poor West Ham
  19. Nice! I had a disappointing week case-wise but still made a collective £12. That can go towards AC:Origins. Proving to be a good earner this. Just need a killer drop to make £500 and I wont have to buy another game for a couple of years!
  20. Just got given this for free I get to play the game and not give Activision my money. Sounds good to me.
  21. It's the same every year; start off with cosmetic stuff and once sales have peaked before and after lauch; then the pay2win weapons get injected into the game regular as clockwork. Last year with MW:R they said that if supply drops were to be in the game then it would be cosmetic only. One month after release and after buttering people up with a free update; pay to win weapons were released that were already found embedded in the game files in the encryped pre-load package. For the few that played IW; that had some outrageous OHK weapons. Give it a week or two and people will be running round the trenches with lime green and orange weapons with beefed attributes. November 14th is the date that COD Points for cash get implemented and that's where Activi$ion will inject the P2W guns and the game goes to shit once again, same old story. If they incorporate their matchmaking manipulation supply drop engine; it could be worse than imaginable where even the most casual players get alienated. 10 days this time - they couldn't even wait a month!
  22. I bloody love Birdman! Yeah I heard there were actually videos showing supply drop weapons from the usual YouTubers a couple of weeks ago. Looks like they aren't even hiding it anymore as people know what to expect the 5th game running. Pay2win weapons + Activision's patent = receipe for disaster incoming. I hear the campaign is back to its generic 5 hours with lots of scripted and on-rails events hijacking the actual gameplay. Infinite Warfare was a terrible game last year but the campaign was surprisingly good so if this one is worse, it would be another reason not to bother. Zombies is supposed to be pretty decent though.
  23. Drif0r is the most gullible person I've seen on YouTube and will believe anything Sledgehammer or Activision say. Shame as the videos he makes for his dying channel are laden with effort unlike most COD channels but he's desperately clinging onto anything he can with the series whilst trying to remain onside with the community as well. Even if he matchmaking rigging isn't in the game yet, it probably will be within weeks just like how Supply Drops wormed their way into MW:R. Activision filed that patent for a reason at a massive cost I would have thought no matter how they try and play it down as some sort of R&D experiment filed years which they somehow forgot about until it was granted. I saw this yesterday about the launch - seems all the fixes in the beta too weren;'t updated in the build which is farcial and it's funny how COD cocksuckers didn't have issues with the servers but paying customers did...
  24. This is the first Call of Duty that I haven't bought...ever! I may try and borrow it from someone for just the campaign but on principle I'm not giving Activision a penny. I got bored of the recent games within weeks and once supply drops are in full flow, the games become horrible. Plus we now have Activisions' granted match-manipulating patent to worry about. Gone were the days you could just hop into a match based on the best possible connection and have fun without any other BS. Plus there's this https://kotaku.com/despite-controversy-counter-strike-gambling-guy-still-1820129168 which is why Activision can screw themselves.
