  4. So mass gatherings are to be banned in the UK but schools and universities are still open? Seems legit.
  5. I watched Escape From Alcatraz once again the other night. Excellent film!
  6. It's an horrendous situation from every possible standpoint but one option that shouldn't be considered is to cancel the season entirely. A lot of teams have worked very hard to get to where they are in the league and if every remaining game has to be played behind closed doors through the summer then so be it. It will cost teams dear in terms of revenue but at least the season will be completed. Even if you cut out the playoffs and just make the top 3 for the Championship and League One and then 4 for League two go up then that would soften the headache. The FA Cup should probably be cancelled. Champions League and Europa League probably wont be able to resume due to the travel risks so that would be a massive blow to all involved. The Euros will have to be delayed until next year or even scrapped altogether. League One teams will miss out on between £300,000 to £6m it's estimated for the rest of the year and it could be fatal for many teams no matter what division you are in or how big your club is. I even fear for next season.
  7. Facinating presentation from Bill Gates back in 2015
  8. What annoys me is when Microsoft or Activision buy up the premium slots and then have jack shit to fill them with along with the big publishers stringing out their premium presentations to also fill up the time. E3 was only interested in taking the money that way rather than strategically designing their show to make it as appealing as possible and maximising exposure to games and developers. I used to get bored even watching the highlights because they were still riddled with painful filler. Despite opening to the general public for the first time ever either last year or the one before, the event was always built for the mainstream media rather than gamers. IGN would never get that many clicks on a promising indie game over yet another AAA franchise release and E3 was always about the money even if they were showcasing crap and thin air.

  12. Ends 20th of March then it goes back up to £50. So tempted to grab it but with Doom next week, I'm not sure if I can manage both plus that'll be £75 on top of an expensive April of games too.
  13. Premier League now suspended until April 3rd. Boris Johnson yesterday be like

  16. Borderlands 3 arrives on Steam today for £24.99/$30
  17. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been diagnosed with Covid 19. Whole team and all staff now in isolation. Not sure what this will mean for the Prem and football league fixtures but football and other major sport events are very high risk and I would pull the plug for two weeks at least now.
  18. Theoretically we should be but when we keep letting in flights from extreme-risk countries with people not even being tested then we just shoot ourselves in the foot with some staggering incompetence. 17 flights from Milan alone landed on Sunday with no testing either end. The government said they told people to self isolate but numerous people returning weren’t told anything. it’s also staggering that we aren’t enforcing stronger measures unlike other countries now. Italy and China have reported minimal new cases after strong lockdowns yet our country is working on slowing the growth down so we can get to summer where the NHS will be less strained. Screw growth - the focus should be eradication. I’d rather the economy took a savage two week hit now than us trying to keep things going as they are and still being economically fucked in the end regardless. Also the confirmed cases are just those that have been recorded by the NHS after a confirmed diagnosis - the real total is probably 10x that at the very least. The low deaths as tragic as they may be for everyone is a surprise though but things could change especially if we continue to be reckless with some things.
  19. A lot of Overwatch fans were becoming tired of the lore being manufactured in the way it was especially when Blizzard were catering more to the PR side and people that didn't even own the game. Many users were even predicting the direction things would take and it was clear a lot of it was forced by the top. Whenever sales began to stall, the game would have a free weekend, Activision would remind everyone that they have '45m+ players worldwide' and the lore side would have some weird sexuality-focused twist for maximum media effect. Flexibility in the writing was diminished and instead of having a flourishing varied narrative over the years, the brand then became reliant on occasional samey plot events to grab publicity. I'm just wondering if the writer has left suddenly because his creative work has been once again diminished. I can't fault their production quality but it's clear the longer this game has existed, the more it's tried to stay relevant and that has impacted the quality and consistency of the writing side.
  20. Overwatch 2's lead writer has just left Blizzard. Probably got fed up of having to make all his characters gay just to sell a few extra copies when sales started stalling. Could be a bit of a blow to the fiction-side of the game as that's a huge part of the brand. He had 20 years with the company too.
  21. Coming to Steam on Friday for £25/$30. Existing owners on Xbox and through the Microsoft Store receive this as a free update. Apparently this game has had a lot of work done so I may check it out. You can even try it on the game pass.
