  1. I think that’s where everyone has a problem. People would moan if Masi had made any of those choices because their favourite didn’t win. However no-one would have the right to appeal because the rules were followed. Though Article 15.3 to me reads as the Race director has authority over the clerks use of the safety car. Not the race director has carte blanche use of the safety car. If rhe FIA stick to but 15.3 then it opens a whole can of worms everytime the safety car is used. It will become a lottery and open to appeal every single time.
  2. Mercedes didn’t pay a penalty, they gambled sure and it was the right gamble as had the rules been followed as written and as enacted at every safety car grand prix for the last 20+ years it would have been a safety car finish. Michael Masi just decided YOLO threw the rule book out and made it up. Even the denial of Merc’s appeal admits they didn’t enact the whole rule. The decisions, or lack thereof, at Brazil and Jeddah were questionable enough. But at least they were subjective decisions on the application of the rules and penalties. This was just totally disregarding the rules for entertainment and it makes a mockery of the championship and F1 being a sport. Sport and competition only works if everyone is playing to same rules and knows what the rules are. To change them 2 laps from the end of the last race is just farcical. I joked in the gt sport whatsapp group that at least Masi isn’t as bad as Belestre. Having thought about it some more though is it too late to dig him up and reinstate Belestre? He was biased as all hell but at least he was consistent in his bias, was competent and did some good for the sport. Since the liberty takeover my interest in F1 has wained as it’s moved from a sport to a spectacle to the point most weekends I only watch the 5 min highlights posted on youtube. At this point I think I’ve given up entirely. Still Merc have given notice of their appeal of their appeal so we’ll see what happens. Though I hold no hope of the result being overturned. Maybe I should take @Diddums advice and get back in to bike racing.
  3. Me me me me pick me,
  4. No that doesn't really apply to me. A bit of google sleuthing suggests it's something to do with DLSS and reprojection of frames. I still haven't gotten around to trying again but hopefully will soon.
  5. Sounds like a decent amount of changes going on with this alpha. I especially like the vehicle mods to have 2 people on a bike or 4 in the 4x4. I’m not sure about the less ammo in loot crates though. It was hard enough to get enough ammo for horde night as it was. Hopefully there’s been some balancing done elsehwere to compensate for this.
  6. You “accidentally” killing me with dynamite will never not be equally funny and infuriating 😆 @Macca89 How do you feel about zombie horde survival games?
  7. Were you in the party when I mentioned it to Macca? I didn't think to actually check when the next release was though. I'll have to watch the video to see what's new but maybe time for another play through.
  8. ACC is actually the one, or one of a tiny few games, where keeping TC on is faster. Unlike GT Sport, or even AC, where the TC system is not the greatest and can cost you lap time. In ACC, Kunos have implemented it very closely to the real system used in the GT3 cars, so keeping it on 1 or 2 is actually advisable and the quickest way to drive. There's a video where David Perel talks about it and as he is/was a real Blancpain driver who helped develop ACC I figure he knows what he's talking abou.

To follow on from James' comments about monitors, 2k/1440p/QHD (different names for the same thing) are the sweet spot right now in my opinion especially if you're also looking at higher refresh rates. It's obviously game dependant but RTX3090's can push 4k at over 100fps on average but you'll see dips in to double digits still. I think some of expectation over resolution is due to referring to them by only one edge, so some people think 4k is twice the resolution of 1080p but as the pixel count on both edges double, 4k is 4 times the resolution of 1080p which is why it is so hard to get high fps. A 1440p screen though it 'only' 1.8x the pixels of 1080p so still a nice resolution increase but without quite the gpu hammering of 4k. Most of the systems (sensibly) being linked are RTX3080's which on high settings should on most games keep you at or over 120fps on average.
  10. It's probably a little early to come to a definitive conclusion on VR performance but it's certainly better than it was. I'm getting some weird graphical issues though I'm not really sure what's causing them. I found someone who posted their settings on a 2070S so I'm going to give them a try as they should be pretty close on my 2080. I still don't think it will be great sadly, there seems to be something about ACC that just means it doesn't run as well as other games. As for the other updates in this patch, I'd seen some comments about overheating tyres and they're sensitivity to pressure. However a quick race around Spa using the default aggressive setup I didn't have any problems except when I spun but the less said about that the better.

You aren’t too far wrong with more expensive is better. The balancing comes in that if you’re trying to stick to a budget then you obviously need to make sure you have everything. There’s also some balancing also to do with performance; there’s no point having a monsterous gpu paired with a rubbish cpu because you won’t use the full gpu power for example. Build your own or pre built; under normal circumstances I’m heavily on favour of building my own. It’s generally cheaper or you can spec a better pc. However given current prices and availability pre-builts look like far better value. To give some indication of where to start, what budget are you working to? and what do you need; just the pc or monitor, mouse and keyboard etc?
  12. I'm fine with that, we could always just do the races backwards, the non-league first then league afterwards. Most of us are around afterwards too so the only person that it might be a problem for is @JBR-Kiwi
  13. It isn't a steaming pile of shit though, in of itself a lack of content =/= a bad game. There's been enough Battlefield launches in the past that have been so bugged to be unplayable. This isn't that, the game works and works well you just can only have 5 guns and play on 2 maps*. *actual numbers may vary. When polled 82% of 119 women agreed.
  14. Gamepass is a good idea, I think they still have the offer of 3 months for £1 currently. Which should give you opportunity to try a number of games. As for recommendations, it depends what type of games you fancy; shooters, survival, strategy, rpg etc.
  15. My thoughts exactly. Going to have to mess around with settings first to see if I can get VR running properly. But I currently have no plans this weekend so plenty of time for racing.
  16. So ACC has had quite a major update yesterday. All covered nicely here; The cliff notes though are; - Improced physics engine which now runs at 400hz - A few tweaks to the tyres model with respect to heat transfer and management - Added the BMW 4 series GT3 car - Added DLSS for nVidia and FFX for AMD gpu’s It’s the DLSS I’m most interested in as ACC is a pig to run in VR. So hopefully with the benefit of DLSS it will be possible to get a usuable framerate in VR.
  17. It was quite an uneventful race up front, Kiwi had me by a small margin in qualifying but thought it could be an interesting race with us so close. But Kiwi had a bad start and got swamped but quickly made his way back to 2nd. By then I’d got 2 seconds clear and then a mistake and/or penalty for Kiwi put an end to his chance of winning 😞 It sounded fun what was going on further down the field though. The amount of swearing mixed with apologies and position changes 😄
  18. Of course I would, I’ve never said or suggested otherwise. But to make a better and less facetious analogy, I wouldn’t complain there’s no rally cars if there’s no rally stages. Also you can see how you’re doing, you just can’t see how anyone else is doing 😄
  19. I’m not saying people shouldn’t moan just have some objectivity when doing so. Including things on the list that are in the game, things that make no sense to be in the game and subjective things that I doubt anyone except those making these lists care about knocks the credibility of the whole list. Though on an unrelated note, I do look forward to having a good moan about GT7 having no spaceships to fly.
  20. I swear some people just like moaning too much. I cba to go through the list one by one however, while I can’t defend the game too much as some of the points are valid I think some crosses the line in to nitpicking. The lack of maps is a valid complaint but if there’s no naval maps why would there be naval vehicles? No naval vehicles if there were naval maps I can get behind but how dare there not be vehicles I can’t use anyway is laughable. As is complaining about the ingame music in my opinion. Outside of Halo, I don’t think I could identify the music, or even the genre of music, used in any other games menus. Even something like Destiny where I’ve got almost 2000 hours playtime I’ve still got no fucking clue.
  21. I love the game ignores the 20+ marksman rifle kills I get and decides my highlight is 1 sidearm kill 😄
  22. I object! To Autopolis that is, not the Mazda.
  23. I'm going to against the grain and say I enjoyed what we played last night. I think some of the stuff people make a fuss about isn't a big deal, like the scoreboard. I care about how I'm doing personally and how the overall match is going - both of which you can see. I have no interest in how l33tFaze420Blazeit or whatever their names are is getting on. Though other things, like the spotting system is a big problem as it's such a core mechanic of a Battlefield game. The one thing I am missing though is the smaller non-vehicle game modes but they can be played in the browser so it's the end of the world.
  24. @GazzaGarratt On second thoughts, I feel I should clarify also that ‘cars’ isn’t the right word, ‘vehicles’ is more accurate. As yes there are cars but there are also buggies, trophy trucks and a few lorrys too. Also the Halo warthog which is great fun to drive as I have the Halo musical horn too 😄
  25. About 500 or so in total but that does include variations on the same car so I’m not sure on a unique number.
