  1. All ARs are Gilded, with I think at least 2 out of 6 Forged. Saving a few so I can go back to using them after doing other guns. Swarm SMG Gilded, Striker is nearly there (kills under your tactical impact are a killer though!). Battle Rifles all Gilded. Sidewinder and MCZ are Forged so just BAS-B to do so they are all pretty much done! Gonna look at LMGs I reckon, although I need to check if there is any secondary knife ones to do at all because clearly a few maps are hilarious to use the knife (aren't they Matt @Luseth *cough cough* 🤣). Really enjoying doing these camp challenges whilst trying to play the objective and get the win for FG. I don't mind that its a slower progress for me, although its far quicker than MW2 challenges thats for sure!

    Lies of P

Beat Lies of P last night, the first souls like I have ever beaten! I’ve tried Bloodborne, Sekiro, Demon Souls and Mortal Shell in the past but gave up with all of them pretty early on! I persevered with this game as I loved the setting and the idea for the story, and I’m glad I did as I ended up loving it! I thought the combat was fantastic and particularly liked the mechanic where successfully parrying could break the enemy weapon! However, I found the Legion arm to be mostly useless, and felt like using any larger weapons put you at a massive disadvantage which meant I didn’t experiment with weapons as much as I would have liked! The visuals and audio design were great though and the story was interesting and more “in your face” than the other souls games, but I would still have liked the story to take more of a central part of the game. Overall, really enjoyed the game and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys souls games. I gave it a score of 8.4 on my instagram where I usually post my reviews! I enjoyed it so much that I’m actually considering going back and trying Bloodborne or Demon Souls again?! Anyone else beaten this that thinks I’m crazy or think it deserves more than 8.4?

  3. Yes a decent month to start 2024! I loved A Plague Tale Réquiem! Nobody saves the world was decent but have never tried Evil West! Hopefully the rest of 2024 will have lineups like this … 🤣

I havent completed it yet, will go back at one point. You should really give Bloodborne another go! Demon Souls was not my cup pf tea. So you havent played Elden Ring or Dark Souls? Dark Souls 3 that is. The others are too old and slow. Bloodborne was the first I beat. Wo Long is pretty good too!

  12. Thanks for the nominations so far everyone! We have a good selection of games already, but I will leave the nomination process open until the 28th to give a few more days for people to nominate if they would like to! Have a fantastic Christmas for all those who celebrate!

  13. Hey there, I was looking for a UK-based gaming community until I stumbled upon FG. I'm a very casual PC gamer now apart from the Christmas holidays when I get to hibernate for a couple of weeks. Usually play competitive games like LoL, COD etc. Played very hardcore back in the day especially WoW and Rainbow Six Siege. Just looking for some mature friendly people to share some games with online. Always enjoy a more organised coordinated approach to my competitive games (as well as just some laughs and giggles). I'm a pretty private person so won't say much more but look forward to getting to know some of you over voice comms at some point. Also a lifelong MMA and Arsenal fan so hit me up for any sports chat.

    Lethal Company

This may be the most popular game out right now. Costs just £8.50 on Steam and is a sci-fi co-op horror game about scavenging moons and bases. 98% positive on Steam with 85,000 reviews and despite only 4,000 people playing last month, in November it's been up to 184,000 which is a huge blow-up - probably not quite on Among us levels but it's definitely gaining huge traction.

  15. If you read the previous Game of the Year topic, you’ll know I’ve been planning this for a week or so! It’s time to start the process and determine the nominees! Everyone, please respond in this topic with the 5 games you want to nominate for Game of the Year! The only rule is that the game must have originally released in the year 2023 (e.g. if the game released on another console in 2022, but came to your console in 2023, this would not be eligible). I will ‘Stop the count’ on Christmas Day. I will then open a poll after the Christmas break (hopefully the 29th/30th) with all the nominated games. We have a maximum entry of 20 games, so the games with the least amount of nominations will have to miss out if we have more than 20 nominated! So be sure to nominate the our favourite games even if you’ve seen someone else nominate it! I will post more about the poll voting process when that time is nearer, but for now reply to this post with your 5 nominations (or less if you haven’t played 5 games worthy of nomination!!) If you can share this with as many different members as possible to make this is varied as a true representation of the Forever Gaming community! I will start the process with my 5 nominations in no particular order: - Lies of P - Spider-Man 2 - Star Wars Jedi Survivor - Sea of Stars - Starfield (A lot of ‘stars’ this year …)

  17. I kind of get what you mean @Middle Class Caveman, the open world is incredible large, and in fairness, requested by public demand. I think that works fantastically well for GTA Online. Campaign wise I kind of got bored after a few missions and wanted to go off-piste with mates. The Heists they created in GTA5 were class and hope more of that formula will exist moving forward. Lets hope Online mode will be released at launch and not just the campaign in Q1 2025.

  21. I really find this hard from my angle as I'm in the boat where Phil is on games released not in this year. I've also been more interested in others thoughts than my own as it dictates what I buy next. Having said all this, one game i played stood out from all the rest, so much so it was my 3rd highest played game this year - Hogwarts Legacy. Superb game, loved everything about it. Gameplay is super sharp and so enjoyable. My list is probably the below: Hogwarts Legacy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Diablo 4 Street Fighter 6 Payday 3

Well done for completing it @WelchyTV 😄. My son still hasn't started it, not sure why as he seemed to get into Lords of the Fallen more first and now hes moved on to his PSVR again for abit. I'm sure once he starts it, as he enjous these games, he'll probably say its up there. I think most people still see Bloodborne up there as the one to challenge this title score wise...its making me thing 2024 I should go back and try and finish a souls like game like that!

  29. I finished this the other week. Hot damn, that was fun to play through again. Even the secret boss from the original is in there, and exactly the same. Once you've finished the game, you can access, and challenge more powerful bosses that you've fought previously, and they are tough. It all culminates with another fight against Culex, but an updated, polygon, 3d version that is tougher than the previous versions. It's a damn good fight. If you haven't checked it out, please do. This is a perfect remake of an SNES classic.

    Alan Wake 2

I've been making my way through this when @Rumelylady isn't cleaning a playground on Powerwash Sim, and it's been pretty decent so far. I like all the case boards, and connecting the dots with crimes. Wake has a writer's board that functions similarly but allows him to "change the story" which essentially shifts the environments to get further. Visually, it looks amazing from top to bottom. They do an excellent job utilizing light sources that boarders on damn near realistic. I also dig the real-life cinematics throughout the game so far. Remedy knows their shit when it comes to that. The voice acting is great as usual. So far so good.

  34. Yeah I'd say 90% of Warhammer video games are shite, although the original Space Marine is excellent imo. And Deathwing could have been a fantastic game with a little more polish. Latest ones have been much better, eg Vermintide and Darktide, plus Rogue Trader is supposed to be decent too from what I hear.

  35. Ever since San Andreas or Liberty City, I just feel like these games have got 'too big'...does that make sense? Obviously some of them in the past have just had poor story lines etc but for me GTA5 was just fucking massive and I really struggled to follow the story line of the three characters. Like is it a sandbox or not etc. They always make a good game to be fair but for me I just can't get behind the hype anymore because it just feels like the game has to be huge with lots of complicated mechanics now to warrant the dev time. I'm an old man, I like my old fashioned top down original GTA where the most pressing thing I had to do in a game was run over the Hari Krishna's at the start of each level 😀

  36. My game of the year easily goes to Sea of Stars. It was such a great experience that I can't recommend it enough. And of course, my other 4 choices. Lol 1: Sea of Stars 2: Cocoon 3: Hi-Fi Rush 4: Baldurs Gate 3 5: Metroid Prime Remastered

  37. I've seen some Bonnie&Clyde, True Romance type comparisons. Looking forward to finding out more but yep, does whet the appetite. 2025 Q1 seems about right but yes, a polished and finished game on release would be appreciated and buck the recent trend...

    MW III Season 1

Yeah I totally agree, I liked the ghost of the last few years. It was balanced and rewarded fast gunplay. Also meant you couldn't play like an absolute rat. I see it as the vest will be the old ghost OG MW2-BO2 (the golden era). There was nothing wrong with those games. However with the current average cod player yer skill + Sbmm etc. It will be punishing. For some folk, playing like a goblin is the only way they can get kills. It panders to that player retention that Activision strives for. If people can't win gunfights they will quit, Daddy Activision can't have people quitting the game incase they might buy a store bundle. Funny thing is Sbmm is actually having the reverse effect, it's stopping people from playing and/or buying the game. Also think I saw a Sam Turret once so far. Nobody uses it in my lobbies.

    MW III Season 1

There has always been a similar variation in every cod. The ghost on this game is very strict, even stopping to reload makes you ping up. Even moving doesn't always keep you off the radar, the current ghost only works when moving forward. You have to be going a reasonable speed as well. I get where your coming from, but doesn't matter if the new vest is in the game or not. People are always going to camp. Granted the assassin's vest will only enhance the campers skill. If someone is proper camping a building, there are tools like grenades and drill charges etc to stop them. If that doesn't work I will dump 100 rounds of LMG and wallbang. If they are sniping and I die a couple of times, I will pull out my own sniper.

I think it looks decent in fairness. Much better than the shite that was Season 1 of MW2. Which had 2 "new maps" that were just reskinned old maps 🤷‍♂️

  45. Doom or Duke Nukem was the first fps I ever played. First game I played online was Unreal Tournament. On console it was either Golden Eye, Deus Ex (this was the first game I remember having bots) or Turok.

  46. Unreal Tournament on a mate's PC but yeah probably Goldeney on N64 was just before that. First game I would describe as a modern type FPS for me though is Black, on PS2.
