I read yesterday that they are backtracking now. We talked about it a bit on the podcast this past week too. I'd expect nothing less from a guy who worked at EA.

I think Sony will try and retain physical for a long as possible until the developers themselves deem it non-viable. It depends on the production costs and margins with wholesale retail in relation to the PS Store cut Sony take plus general demand. Not many retailers left on the high street now and those don't want to buy into dead stock. To be honest, games are mostly so shit these days, there's not many worth getting a physical for anyway and even then, the disc is worthless by virtue of a game needing a mandatory update to execute. I think the PS3/360 was the last worthwhile generation for collectibles and with Microsoft trying to kill off physical for the past 9 years and Playstation only having a few tangible exclusives worth picking up physically, it's basically curtains.

You'll only be able to play with current gen (PS5) users. However I believe it's only Martin who will be without a PS5 by the time we start playing FC24. I wonder if we could do anything with the FGFGF to get Martin involved still @GazzaGarratt?

Yeah I am a fan of collecting my retro games and such but I'd be fine if we stopped producing them now, we have learnt enough in recent years to call it a day on physical games. That said I think my only gripe with going all digital is the lack of storefronts for a console and it would probably lead me to just gaming on pc only going forwards as at least there are some options. Sony having such a big market share already and then being able to put on whatever percentage they like on top does not sit well with me and is something I could see happening down the road because they have shown time and time again that it is a company that can get complacent, can get a little bit greedy.

Played about 5 hours of 2.0 and still undecided as to whether to get the DLC. They've definitely done a good job with fixing the base game and I'm sure the expansion with the complimented improvements is very good but I'm not sure if I'll even bother progressing the main game let alone beginning the Phantom Liberty story. I still feel for all the perks and RPG elements, this is a far too linear game for it to really make a difference. Sure you can do a few variable builds but it doesn't radically change how you approach or complete missions aside from perhaps the combat method and hacking a few things. At its core, this game will always be first and foremost an adventure game in an open world rather than an RPG. They can add all the padding they want but it will never shake off the linear and very basic design.

Tuesday's don't work so much for me usually, this Saturday is a no go as well as I am at a friend's wedding. I will message you once I know when I am about the week after 🙂

Less plastic in the world is fine by me. Funny though how the reduction in manufacturing cost never gets passed back to the consumer.

Looks like Respawn have finally fixed Titanfall 2's multiplayer mode after several years of it being completely broken. Game is also £2.49 currently in the sale and seen a major resurgence last couple of days. Hopefully it's a sign that the previously cancelled Titanfall 3 may be rejuvenated especially with Apex being past its best despite still being popular. The multiplayer servers were being held hostage by hackers. They've fixed this now so multiplayer is feasible again. No new content or fixes as far as I'm aware.

Great! If Clubs is cross play this year then, I might join when I've bought it. Although depends what console everyone is going with, as don't think I can play with PS4 users.

Damage is done now though. I saw Terraria plough 100k donations into new developer engines as an act to get behind other smaller engines. Trust is so vital these days and can really grab more sales than these big corporate companies realise.

What I'm still mulling over is this strange concept that they follow - they all fundamentally agree that console gaming is the place that you need to keep producing games and the biggest market that will keep them ahead of the pack - and to do this they create physical consoles. However, games then go digitally and no physical games to coincide with this? I think they forget the concept of surprises, birthdays, Christmas, presents, anniversaries, special editions, unique items....they all are catalysts for games to be bought and 8/10 times, these work because they are tangible - something you can touch. I still think the retro scene would be booming right now if people wanted to make games for more simplistic consoles. I imagine most of the sales won't change too much until the world comes out of the cost of living crisis.

This one caught my eye. Basically a spiritual successor to Punch-Out/Super Punch-Out. Fairly cheap too, and I'm surprised it isn't on GP.

Until recently, TF3 did not look like being developed or in any pipeline at all, so we shall see...

I really hope we get Titanfall 3 because TF2 is one of the best FPS shooters ever made. EA fucked the launch by slapping it between COD and BF. Even though the game was better than both of the games that year.

I'd hoped so! I'm already thinking about possibly upgrading the CPU to 5800X3D when I can afford to, it's a bit pricey though. So far I'm finding it a mixed bag, depending on the game. I installed BF2042, took some time to get it to play nice. Managing in a way that utilizes GPU hovering around 90% usage in mostly Ultra, and the CPU also around the same, with frames from 60-80. I didn't realise until I went searching, that certain in-game settings are handled by the CPU. I struggle with Starfield though, luckily I didn't have to buy it as he gave me an extra code he received with his new PC. Hell Let Loose seems to be a headache to get to play right, and I can get Escape from Tarkov to run well enough, that game is heavy on the CPU though and I think my current CPU just doesn't cut it. Plus I've been reading up that the CPU is used much more when you game at 1080p. Going past that, 1440p and 4k tend to rely more on the GPU to power everything. Good points though, I can play GTA V pretty much maxed, Master Chief Collection also maxed out, mostly highest in Chivalry 2, and The Hunter: Call of the Wild. Making these games look amazing with at least 60fps, compared to what I'm used to seeing!

And me. Will it have a free PS4 > PS5 upgrade does anyone know? Seeing all those old maps from the days of FG’s origins is making me think do I push the button on any decent PS5/CoD bundle or wait for a slim?

I have to say they do seem to look good. It's a good call because these days they can't make MP maps for shit.

You also get zombies which is worth it for me. The last black-ops all I played was zombies because the MP was trash
