Incredible games. Had Generals on PC and played the hell out of Retaliation on the PS1. Did what @slamminbones did and used to link two PS1s together with @Findmartin so we could eventually ally and try and beat the two AI against us. The missions were so well thought out and its seems crazy to think back they had ideas of two discs where you essentially picked a side depending on which disc you put in. If any game out there of old deserves a brand new game in their franchise, its this one.2 points -

It looks like Sony as well as a Tencent subsidiary have bought shares in From Software. 14% and 16% each. Also, Netease has bought Quantic Dream for an undisclosed amount. Who will be next? I'm still shocked Sony hasn't tried to buy Square Enix yet. Tencent, Sony Collectively Acquire 30 Percent Of Elden Ring Developer From Software WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM The Kadokawa Corporation is still by far the largest shareholder, though. Detroit: Become Human Dev Quantic Dream Acquired By NetEase WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM NetEase first invested in the studio three years ago.2 points -

Yeah, yeah, i'm back 😅 Didn't miss much then 😭 As I've got an absolute shit ton to catch up on, the only thing I've done tonight is delete some extra botty posts, delete the push notifications for them in the discord 'new post' channel and I've changed a few parts when logging in. One is Captcha, which is the security bot - we had it working behind the scenes but now its one where people will need to interact with the security application (essentially we now have the latest one available to us). Also changed the security question slightly too. I'm hoping we have a better 24 hours incoming....🤞2 points -

Command and Conquer Series
GazzaGarratt reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
Anyone a fan of these games? I probably haven't played any of the classics for almost two decades but have fond memories of them. Generals was probably my favourite as it was a more authentic military-based one with some really fun weaponry and missions. Never got round to the Zero Hour expansion which I am now eager to play. I'm kinda itching for the collection to go on sale on Origin so I can swoop the lot and am interested in trying Red Alert 3 plus Kane's Wrath too. C&C 4 was the death of the series in more ways than one but at least we got the remaster. Hopefully Generals will get one down the line although EA never do what their customers want. Most iconic thing about the entire series is the b-movie presentation and how they managed to swoop so many big actors - at times it does look like a potential porno is gonna break out but it was a really impressive part of the presentation that compensated for a top-down almost 2D series. Had a real charm about it despite the cheese.1 point -

As there is nothing much worth playing for me right now, I've spent the last couple of weeks revisiting (and finishing) some classics which has been great fun:- Max Payne (2001) Max Payne 2 (2003) Alan Wake (2010) All these are Remedy titles who are a popular developer of the past two decades and have really unique titles that have really stood the test of time. Next on my list is Condemned: Criminal Origins (2006) which was title from the early Xbox 360 days which I've picked up on PC. Didn't get around to playing it back in the day but it's made by the same team that did FEAR so I'm definitely looking forward to it despite its age. Anyone got any old games on the go that they are working through right now or recently? I'm enjoying doing this than forcing myself to play some generic new release.1 point -

Hey @Luseth I work in the energy sector here in the states. I'm currently in the cybersecurity compliance side of the business which leads me to be on many different types of project related to your profession. I manage a department to handle all the federal, state, and local laws and regulations that are applied to our company from a cyber perspective. Needless to say with all the shit happening around the world, I don't get much sleep. I'm at Con Edison, the utility in NYC founded by Thomas Edison and we have some crazy infrastructure solutions to some of the things you were talking about. We too are moving towards more electrification as our gas business (O&G in general) is being targeted by many different groups at the moment. We also run the largest steam generation and distribution system in the world which offers a pretty sweat alternative to heating and cooling from an HVAC perspective. We run 300psi mains (20.7 bar) to feed large buildings like World Trade, Empire State, large apartments etc. They can use the product as is for mechanical applications or run co-gen and mechanical applications. As in, run steam powered turbines to generate electricity for their buildings and potentially feed back into the grid in addition to heating and cooling. The steam is super purified and is actually regulated by our FDA. We are also currently the 2nd largest producer of solar in North America along with some wind, but are looking to offload those assets in favor of taking that 4B in sale money to invest in storage which really is the future. Grid level energy storage will be the lynchpin in any successful renewables scaling like wind, solar, tidal etc. These investments will allow us to manage the future output for electrification of homes, cars, mass transit (most already are) and more. We are pushing folks to go one of the many heat pump routes as they are the best suited for the job moving forward. As a manufacturing engineer and quality guy by trade please GO OUT TO THE FIELD before you finish your designs. Far too often in my previous life in manufacturing would designers develop some shit that can't be made in the physical universe we occupy. I can only imagine the stories @Diddumshas about shit that that was poorly designed!!! Anyway, welcome to the fold, many of us are happy to talk shop in addition to gaming. You've stumbled on a diverse set of folks here.1 point -

My biggest disappointment with this is that it feels like something from 2006. My biggest complaint so far, aside from all the damn bugs and glitches, is when enemies just spawn directly in front of you at any given time!!! I cannot believe that the people at Volition still think this kind of game system is good. For example, There's a line of missions where you have to kill a bunch of drug runners around a food truck, steal said truck and transport it back to your business venture. I get that if enemies are patrolling around and see me, fine. I'm busted and have to deal with it. But every 2 seconds, an enemy vans spawn right in front of you! And not just one, at least three minimum! It's ridiculous, and even when you deal with that group, several more spawn along the way. There's a lot that I'm enjoying about the game, but calling this a reboot or remake of the franchise was a total lie. No wonder they're giving credit to discord and reddit mods. They have to deal with all the complaints about this fucking game.1 point -

Gamescom 2022

Major public event going on right now across 4 days or so - one of the first in-person showcases since Covid and interest seems so minimal. Considering this is the PS5/Series X era, you'd expect projects aplenty and huge intrigue yet all we seem to be getting is free updates, DLC, space games galore and the same titles we've known for almost 18 months being promoted still. There really isn't much on the horizon to be excited about in the gaming landscape it seems. A couple of big names like God of War and then others that have style but questionable substance like Forspoken. It's just staggering to see interest so flat and a really mediocre line-up. Maybe there will be a few sleeper hits but other than that, we may be 4 years away from anything truly next gen and original. The Matrix tech demo from last year is about as good as it's gotten of late.1 point -

Ok, I finished the game. I didn't get all the upgrades for the village, but once I did unlock the majority of the upgrades for rituals, crown unlocks, and had a decent flow going with food production and all, I focused solely on blitzing the rest of the game. I will say that at the moment, there is a bug in the last area where you encounter Summoners. If you kill them while they are summoning, it'll spawn an invisible enemy that you can't kill. I ran into that issue twice while trying to finish the last area and had to leave the dungeon and restart. All in all, It was an enjoyable experience. It's not as hardcore as most other rouge-likes such as Hades, and I did find the town building aspect of it to be very upfront at the start of the game, which made it difficult to get into it. The combat is very basic but may turn off hardcore players looking for a meatier experience. My advice, I'd wait for a sale or PSN freebie if you haven't picked this up yet or are curious about it. If you really like town building games, grab it. The combat isn't that big of a deterrent and those sections are really easy to blow through.1 point -

I've killed the second boss now. Once I discovered you only need a max of 12 cultists in order to unlock all the areas, I did just that and am focusing more now on the dungeon delving. I've run into a few bugs that have caused me to fail a few follower quests. One example, a follower informs you that their friend wants to marry you. So, if you have the marriage ritual unlocked, You can go into your temple and perform the ceremony. The only problem is there is only ever 6 followers in the temple when you do and half the time, it isn't the one you need to finish the quest. !@#$ Anyways, Let's go kill another boss or two.1 point -

What do you guys do for a living?
Riff Machine reacted to Luseth for a topic
they require regular maintenance, like you could get away for 5 years without a service on your boiler, you do that with a heat pump and it needs replacing. @Plumbers Crack a heat network is designed with a hot water buffer vessel so the idea is you need to keep that at 70 degrees (it can be lower and then a hiu would top up the difference where required for hot water ising electricity) and there is a diversity calculation to determine the amount of heat energy you need to put into keeping the buffer vessel at that temperature depending on the number of apartments / spaces that require heating. The radiators are then sized on the anticipated flow and return temperature's so if it is designed from the off based on utilising ground source it wouldnt be an issue (though admittedly it isnt always the case). We haven't done it yet but 5th gen heat networks do utilise ground source heat pumps. It’s clever stuff when done correctly but I don't think a lot of them are being done based on ground source (you wont get a buffer vessel to stay at 70 with just ground source, it would need an additional heat source such as biomass boilers or hydrogen which most modern boilers that we install are capable of with only minor changes internally). But that goes back to my original comment that I am not sure the industry is set on one single direction currently.1 point -
