Battlefield 2042 Might Go Free-To-Play, Insider Suggests - GameSpot WWW.GAMESPOT.COM EA is "looking at all the options" to restore Battlefield 2042's player numbers, including some form of free-to-play access. Definitely the most logical move and practically what everyone was expecting but even then, it would only be viable if it had a worthwhile backbone that people could invest in and players could be enticed to try it. It would also need a solid premium aspect where EA could make money and Ultimate edition owners feel they got their money's worth. When the game had a free to play week on Steam, it could only muster 36,000 players tops which was 64% down from 3 weeks previous when the game was a paid release, so much work needs to be done just to make it worth people's time let alone money. The risk is, if the game also struggles as a F2P title then it could have a horrible effect on the brand going forward including EA pulling the plug on the series altogether. Season 1 also being delayed until March at the earliest hasn't helped engagement. Personally I would refund the Ultimate Edition owners the difference between than and the base game, make it F2P, sack DICE and make Ripple Effect primary developers and then just turn focus onto the next game.

@Plumbers Crack that is such a lovely article, and it really is true what you say. My partners dad passed away a couple of years ago, but she has loads of pictures and videos that she treasures, and even has a short voice clip that she managed to save that means the world to her. She is always taking pictures and videos of us, the boys, and the rest of her family, and she has captured so many great memories over the years ❤

This is one of the games I'm most looking forward to this year. The first was excellent.

I was reading the posts and I remember now. I was playing Jurassic Park on the good ole Genesis/Mega Drive. A neighbor friend said, hey why don't you try entering NYUKNYUK in the password screen. NYUKNYUK are you kidding me? That doesn't look like a legit password. The next hour that day I finished the game haha.

I absolutely loved that in the first one. When it got to night and you had to literally just run your ass off to get to a safe place it got so intense!! I have to admit I can't wait for this to come out 😀😀

Absolutely right. I missed out on the Sunday raiding last time (after contest mode was switched off) but Charlie was in a FG team that got to the boss. Day 1 will be tough for sure but if you don’t fancy that let’s have people ready to go Sunday and Monday evening. Week 1 completions would be awesome and are definitely do-able for FGers

On a similar theme, regarding those that shelled out money for BF2042, another game, the 'Battlefield killer' World War 3 had an awful launch on early access and didn't recover, I think it cost me £20. It's been revamped and it's going to be re-released free to play in March. And for compensation I'm being given a Vererans pack.

Regarding pulling the plug surely if they actually put out a game that the community wants then the playerbase will return. What's happening here might be just what is needed going forward.

I don't think they will make it all free to play and I wonder what those people who paid for Ultimate Editions will think but I'm all for free games. It all does show how none of these companies have any long term plans at all for their games. It's quite incredible when you think about it.
