How to get a start working with animals
GazzaGarratt and 3 others reacted to Nutcuttlit for a topic
Ok i know this my seem a bizarre topic but hopefully it may help someone who is struggling to find that dream job working with scaley, cute or cuddly and the big toothies of this world. First and most importantly is compassion, it cant be taught and is the bread and butter of this field. You could have any quals you want but this is what employers look for, which moves us swiftly to the second thing. Volunteer work is your gateway, if you keep turning up to work without pay the pwople running the facility are more likely to employ you over some university/colledge student with a zoology degree because you have hands on experience and not just some facts from a book. Listen to your peers because you'll learn more on the job than in a classroom because every situation is different. Animals are unpredictable they can attack through fear or to assert dominance but there are signs you will be taught by experienced staff that you can only learn with boots on the ground. Whilst volunteering get your quals in any field you wish to specialise in, herpetology and rodentia is what i went for but everyone has a path they must follow. Any questions anyone may have or what quals you need just chuck me a message and ill be more than happy to help out a fellow animal enthusiast. Via the FG App4 points -

Someone in this thread said they just disassembled it and reseated the wheel which worked, although the problem wasn't exactly the same, but still similar. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/337085/Volume+Wheel:+Inconsistency+in+Volume+Control I've no idea what to suggest headphone wise to be honest, ever since I got my Astros I've never even considered anything else, but I do think you'd look well sick with some RGB watercooled ears. Get a rad and a loop on them bad boys.3 points -

How in the world has this game past us by for this many months?! If you ever played Destruction Derby back in the day, this game has revamped and restyled it in a way that really works. Couldn't find many videos but this IGN review covers quite abit of it. Driving As you'd think on the face of it it's just an average smash up cars arcade game you'll be massively surprised how well the handling and overall driving experience is. I'd go as far as to say it's not far off GT Sport, probably on par with Dirt, which is impressive on it's own. Gamemodes There's Last Man Standing, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and then Racing - which includes the best for me which is Banger Racing. They give a lot variety coupled with different tracks. The risk of getting 'Wrecked' but going for the jugular on Banger Racing and Last Man Standing is awesome. You then also get the cheeky bar stewards nicking your kills in Deathmatch. Tracks Tons of tracks, lots of crossovers for ultimate destruction. It didn't take long to figure out what maps are which. So many different things can happen too. Won one race and then the next after 20 seconds I was literally obliterated on one straight! Destruction Oh man, so much damage can happen. It's even better when you see your engine smashed up and a wheel barely hanging on to your car. Makes up for all the laughs, especially in the most strangest cars/vans/trucks you'll see in a game. Cars There is a van that is called Killerpig, cos it is one. There is a Sofa Car, cos it's a Sofa Car. There's a School Bus, cos..you get it. And they all fit the game perfectly. Going hand in hand with the destruction and some more regular looking bangers cars, it all nicely fits into a big ball of metal and carnage. Multiplayer Max players I believe is 8 in our own lobby but you can add AI cars to make it 13. Theres also other lobbies you can join that are 16 players. I'm hoping it'll expand and support the 24 cars you can have in Deathmatch Single Playee mode. Tldr: Our GTA FG Races built on purpose to be played that way. Destruction Derby FTW.2 points -

Working with dogs is probably harder than what i do because its easier to want to take them home than exotics are due to the set ups required.2 points -

I love this game, i could honestly play it all day and not get bored. You also earn xp and cr when playing in private matches. Also the game reloads everytime you change something on the server you create, maps, gametypes etc. This means that from the time every's readied up, you have about 6 seconds before you're driving. More people should defintiely pick this up, well worth it.2 points -

Cheers Nutty, I'll send this to Kurt, he might even sign up and have some questions or whatever. He sounds quite excited at the prospect of working with animals, it's just a case of where to start, so this is fantastic.2 points -

Love this thread! I've always loved animals and always thought i'd get into something to do with them if my career in the film industry didn't go anywhere. Once all this is over i may look into possibly volunteering somewhere in London, i'll just have to gage what my wok load will be like when i get back. I do like the idea of working with snakes and exotic animals like you do but i honestly think i'd love working with dogs in a shelter.2 points -

Part of my consideration is a desire to try out open back ear cups. The Astros are very comfortable but can get a bit too hot for my liking. But also what Greebs said, these 80 quid headphones and an astro mixamp are a good long term option. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk1 point -

If you’re considering the sennheisers then i’d say just do it. I may be a little biased as I own a pair but they’re the best and most comfortable headset/earphones I’ve ever owned. They’ve got to be about 10 years old and still going strong.1 point -

Good Thread! Its interesting to see how different people setup for this. Personnaly I normally proritise getting a gas mask as I tend to stay right on the edge to pick people as they panic and air strikes so when I'm on a roof or crossing open land I can cause a bit of chaos where theres movment to avoid detection. When it comes to load outs I tend to go assault rifle and LMG so I can move quick enough when needed with quick reloads and then put down heavy fire with bigger mags if somebody needs cover etc. Super loving this game mode at the mo! I look forward to entering the zone with some of you guys!1 point -

I have VM and I have their router set to 'modem only'. From here it goes into a Buffalo Air station which does the wi-fi and hardwiring. Been through a couple if VM boxes but never had a problem with the Buffalo unit. It's old now so probably superceded but still works ok Via the FG App1 point -

You can't go wrong with a Nighthawk R7000. I've had it for about 2 years, came with a wifi extender that I used to plug into my basement and plug my PC into it. Works great.1 point
