@RenFengge he had to have eye surgery because he has to much extra skin around his eye lids and they were rolling back and his eyelashes were stabbing his eyes causing small cuts on his eyes leading to alcers in his eyes so to correct it he basically had plastic surgery and had the extra skin removed around his eyelids and now instead of rolling in they roll out like there suppose to. He goes gets his stitches out in about 10 days. That was Tuesday when he had surgery.

OK OK, it's been a few days since I've built anything worth posting. After chatting with @GazzaGarrattthe other day, there was an expressed need to smelt IN the swamp area to make it easier. So I took the good work the gents did building the land bridge from our safe island to swamp and expanded upon it...just a bit. I may or may not have built an elevated walkway into the heart of the swamp where nothing can get you, but you can get them!! Oh yes, this swampy super highway does indeed connect nicely to our first major stone/wood creation.

 

Designed by the famous Bearded Guru, The "Deep Stone Crypt House" was an abandon building, left by some unprepared Viking soul years ago. After the Beard saw the bones he knew what must be done to make this the ultimate work-from-home quarantine purchase. Approximately 6.7865% of the original structure remains, however he did leave a few walls for nostalgia. The weird angles of this one, along with being in the trees, proved to be a challenge but in the end the new owner will truly get a one-of-a-kind home. The lower level sports a fine patio overlooking the majestic swamp along with a sunken crypt for you to explore. Currently two floors with internal smelting on the lower level and a cozy sleeping quarters upstairs. Some appliances included, level 3 forge to tippy tap away and a bare bones workbench makes this new-to-market fresh while allowing for your personal touches. Don't take our word for it, come see yourself by taking the Swamp Portal on the left hand side of mead hall.

Name: Vault Patio

So I may have replaced the walls and created a patio at the Vault. I feel like @GazzaGarratt did such a nice job on the dock, it needed a long boat, patio, and outdoor seating/bonfire arrangements. So as @FallenDark200 found his newly discovered tree clearing and moat digging ability, I was working on the patio. I think it came out just fine. I was getting tired of the front of rear of this base looking like poop. OOO and I added a dew flower beds for planting things!!! Thanks @RenFengge for fixing my planters as I was creating, looking top notch now!

Name: Mead Hall Patio

Location: FG Server, Home Base

 

So after @RenFengge was tending to the pigs at home base and we were attacked AGAIN by two trolls, we decided to up the defenses. The trolls did a number on the pig pens and let some out. We had some stone built up from @FallenDark200 moat building spree so we started building. It's not done by a mile but it's better, La went and worked on the pens and I built the patio between the hall and the main original base. It was all nasty from the construction of the hall so it's all nice now. Planted a few big firs for the lolz and started a few bon fires.

 

Next on the list:

1. Finishing the dock with 3-4 slips, as you can see, I've started construction
2. Terracing the rear or the base with large stone planters
3. Extending the defenses on the shore side of the hall and around the back, these little greyling fuckwits keep getting in
4. Community build event to revamp the main base? The interior needs some sprucing up with our more advanced skills
5. Clean up the transition areas between buildings and make it nice for any new FG member who arrives
6. Maybe extend the base out to the main alter? It's close enough

Name: Fort OG

Location: FG Server, Home Base

 

So I log on today to find @Plumbers Crack continuing his deforestation of the amazon (black forest) and we decide to hold off on that for a bit. We head to home base and Dave goes "so should we make a few towers then, you get you OCD design going and I'll go deforest the meadows?" I mean, yea, this sounds like a good idea! So 7 hours later (Dave left after like 1.5) we have a new tower setup, remade forge and some upgrades. I'm particularly proud of my stack kiln/smelter setup. The kiln drops coal into a collection bin and you can either fill the smelter or the chest. Saves space and fits nicely in the new setup. I also dismantled the old structure I built by the OG part of the base. 

 

While getting the wood left in @Plumbers Crack destruction zone, I wandered into the mountains near by with a frost potion in hand. Now that I have an iron pickax, I want to find some obsidian  so we can have a level 5 work bench. Long story short, I found a small deposit that yielded just enough for us to upgrade home base and Lake Vault to a level five bench...I'd like to introduce "Sir Forge A Lot" and "Baby Got Bench" (if you not get it, not my fault, it's been 25 years...So come reap the spoils of our troll murdering and upgrade those suits friends. 

 

Yes, that is indeed the heads of dink and doink the trolls that attack the base...it felt all but fitting to hang them on the wall!!!

 

@RenFengge came on to do some maintenance and planting, I must say, having planters is pretty badass, looks neato.

@FallenDark200 , check out these photos and the post above for updates since you went out to be present IRL....

 

I'll probably be on later to continue on the dock/harbor or some other areas at base if y'all want to jump on and hang.

Name: Heritage Site

Location: FG Server, Home Base

 

So @FallenDark200 gets on and asks, so what should we do? At the time I was figuring out what I was doing with the Restaurantheim currently being built dockside. I mentioned talking with @GazzaGarrattabout taking down most of the old unused part of the base and making a heritage site! What do you think about working on that? I could got get the words out and Justin runs by me full tilt, hammer out and I just shit flying. As you can see in the two shots below, there was some much deleting that the base was floating on hope and dreams before the server could catch up minutes later.  

 

As we cleaned up the 2k wood, I started preserving the site where the first wee little Vikings put down their first wooden bits of home. @Plumbers Crack was in on the original heritage conversation earlier in the day and mentioned something about blue markings. So the site was preserved, the a heritage sign and dedication was erected, and ale was consumed. Not a bad day's work, three berths at the docks completed, heritage site protected and ready for viewing, and @FallenDark200 starting working on a neat new building next to the dock. Enjoy!

Name: Base Camp

So it's been a week and @Tar-Eruntalion and I have been hard at work making a new kind of base. I found a mostly sheer cliff and thought it would be neat to build a cliffside mountain staging base. What started off small, became a full fledged base of operations like HQ and Vault. The idea has now morphed into this being the portal hub for all Mountain biome exploring. When we find a new mountain range to pillage and want to suit up, store meads, and just pet a few dozen tamed wolfs (yeah, you read that right...thanks @RenFengge ), this is your base of operations. Plenty of warm beds, kitchen soon to come, working smelter and kiln in the basement, it's a one stop shop for your golem and drake killing needs. 

 

So far I have two portals set up, one to the 4th boss (nothing done here) and one straight up the mountain from base camp. It's hard enough to explore the mountains and why work harder to get to the good stuff. Just take the portal to our Snow Lodge, curl up by the fire, gaze at our dragon egg and have a drink.  (Yes, @Bluebear  in case you wondered who left you your night light... that was me!!). The lodge is also stocked with freeze meads so you can actually walk out the door.

 

Beware, drakes and golems frequently spawn outside, as fix, our friend @FallenDark200 got on and did what he's so talented on...digging BFH around things. So now we have a mountain moat around the Snow Lodge to make it safer. It does work, the golems don't seem to be able to cross it, the black wolf night time thing fell in when it tried to jump us, so it works. As for the drakes, well, they fly so you are shit out of luck. try crafting some obsidian or fire arrows, they seem to do the trick. Ok, enjoy the build shots, and cheers again to @Tar-Eruntalion for the hard work. 

 

@GazzaGarrattI mean, we are building ALOT so you can mine some obsidian bud......

god it took so much work because it's very tall and we almost exhausted all our wood/stone supplies but boy is it beautiful, we did fantastic work together @TurboR56Mini and it's been a joy sharing build ideas to each other and thank's to @FallenDark200 for his help with both buildings and the gigantic moat on the mountain, now we need to fill the base and restock our supplies because we can't even build a hut anymore😁

Name: Southie FOB

So @RenFengge and I went on a long sail this evening. We found ALL THE PLAINS and a new biome called Mistlands...we left promptly. our mission was to scout south for a forward operating base (FOB) for our journey to defeating Biomass. we sailed and sailed with no where to land and we mapped the Biomass island which is a massive swamp, massive mountain, and massive plains all rolled into one. It will make a super tough farming area and higher level base at some point. However, we still had a problem with a jumping off point to take out that little shit. we decided to head due west from the Biomass island and behold, the glory of the meadows.

 

@Tar-Eruntalion and I were talking about our next project of setting up a little town rather than a massive building. I'm impatient so I chose this spot but not without good reason. Our little slice of heaven is packed between plains, black forest, and what appears to be a sizeable mountain. This is a great spot for our quick sail to Biomass and good FOB for you brave little bastards that want to give the plains a go. The goal of this place is to build a town where everyone builds their own little place with communal forge, smelter, upgraded work bench etc. Like the forge will be the blacksmith shop and so on. We can make walkways and signs as we expand. Walls and defenses are a must, was already raided by the swamp once while building our little home. I'm looking at you @Tar-Eruntalion to help make the town!!!  OOO I'm breeding 1 star pigs too so we have a meat source, found a 1 star here when we landed. He was hanging our with a normie so I captured them both quickly. As soon as they birthed another 1 start I culled the normies so now we only get 1 stars. Portal is upstairs in the mead hall, right hand side.

@TurboR56Mini  didn't seem to like my idea of putting a portal outpost on the actual Biomass island and calling it "Death"...

 

I mean, it's a worse place than "Despair"... And, you will die about 2.5 seconds after stepping out of the portal... Hence my suggested name for it. 

 

I also got scolded for doing a mad dash into the Plains to pick a Cloudberry. 😅

i will definitely help with this, but i need to do some exploring of my own first and maybe find some swamp to mine some more iron to build a few things i want and then when i catch you ingame we will plan and make our new village

Did some work on Southie tonight. Forge up and running with smelter, the swamps here have those surtling guys that drop cores when you kill them. Make's it nice to farm cores! Anyway, since we are near a mountain, @RenFengge wanted to tame MORE wolves so we have a pen. We have one tamed in our home, will get others down the mountain later. I've also made a planter, and we are breeding 1 star pigs. Both the pigs and wolf pen are partially covered to give them some shelter. The main drag is inspired by old Quebec City sections which are built on a cliff. Neat old stone shops and what not.  Either way, it's ready for everyone to come and start building their own home. Portal is upstairs on the right of the mead hall.

Yes, well, I don't think we're going to put out 30+ wolves on a boat and bring them over, no? There are plenty of things for the new wolf pack to hunt on the new island. Because, if we get attacked by Fulings, having a pack of wolves to help would be nice.

 

Also, we need a Lox den... I want to be taming some LOX! They are like cuter, giant pigs... and more useful.

Name: Plains Farmhouse

So after @RenFengge  and I finished raiding our first plains base yesterday, we were left some new plants, flax and barley. So apparently you can only plant these items on plains tiles. Just over the ridge of our Southie FOB (meadows) is a nice sections of plains. So the goal tonight was to build a farming camp to....ya know...farm! So not too far in I see a massive rock next to a massive rock pillar and I think to myself, self, this could work for a base inside the rick again! So I start mining as La takes on deathsquitos and I'm able to get a few flights of stairs deep into this rock. I start building a log cabin in the rock as one does and we built a portal back to our Southie FOB just over the ridge. This works really well as nothing can get you inside a rock. I have since made a little farm outside with some spike defenses and planted our flax and barley. This will allow us to make some better food and what not. So all that black metal we are getting cannot be smelted yet which is annoying. I guess we need a blast furnace to do it which we unlock AFTER biomass. All this means is we are past due for punching that little bastard in the face. An event will be posted soon so we can defeat him and progress the server. Since we can one shot deathsquitos, we can now make needle arrows as we are getting a good amount of them. We have cloudberries all around which is new. OOOO I got a Lox trophy tonight. I went to pet one that I thought La tamed and boy was it not one of ours. Needless to say I got the better of it and he's now hanging on the wall! Enjoy the build, come on and enjoy!!

Fuck me, i'm so behind looking at all of this. Truly, fantastic jobs done by all and beautiful to see progress pictures and little bits about your trips. ALthough i've not been able to be around of late, I love that you can pop back in and not really feel behind in anything because of how the world works. The idea of a village is awesome and I think I like that the most because we all get a little bit of our own creative flair to put inside a mini town.

 

Let's have a big day where we can all meet up and look at the village and all the other awesome stuff!! I'll look into events now 👊😎
