I've been thinking about trying out manual gears for some time now on Gt Sport as I know its generally faster times you can get however at the best of times there's a lot to concentrate on, let alone then change gears as you race. So are there any helpful tips on what to look out for, how to change gears, etc. I appreciate I know how to do it in real life but racing in a virtual world is very different to the real thing! Likely to start out on controller but obviously tips for people with racing wheel's are welcome too as I'd love to own one in the future. Cheers all!

I'm wanting to suggest more tracks each week with our regular GT Sport races slot gathering lots of interest of late. So I thought i'd open it up to everyone. For me, Sardegna and Willow Springs in Gr.4 cars can lead to seriously close times and very rewarding when you nail the laps. They're not super hard tracks to race on but there a small areas where you can work on each lap to get faster and better at the corners. They would absolutely lead to interesting races for sure. And yes, Blue Moon Speedway is basically nearly an oval but surprisingly made for interesting races (and yes I did win that one but thats not the point 😄). I think if any race like this can lead to exciting and close racing between more of us is definitely one to keep in mind. I'll keep an eye out for any reverse tracks or specifically ones which are better with a certain variation. Whats peoples thoughts as we start trying more tracks out?

@Stretch616 , great thread and definitely looking forward to seeing more of them! I'm gonna look into Rhino Hero and Ghost Blitz for sure. We love Dobble in the house as we've already got 2 versions of it, so I think this one will be a firm favourite!

Superb racing last night was and nothing to do with the fact I actually won a race at all 😁😍 To get 4 races in, was superb. Great turn out too, 10 at the peak which made for some great battles. I'll try and summarise what I can remember from the 4 races: Race 1 - Blue Moon Speedway You would think a 12 lap race on essentially a Nascar race track where you left only would be a pretty boring race but I think it was far from it. Times were always going to be fast and tight on qualifying, and for the most part many ended up getting some additional slip-streaming for extra fast Qualifying times, much to my frustration as I couldn't get a tow! @JBR-Kiwi , @Greboth and @Mikepjbell managed to break away from the pack and worked as the perfect Cycling Pelaton for at least half the race and were battling like crazy, constantly swapping positions. I managed to break away in a small pocket in 4th with @Stretch616 performing strongly in 5th with @phil bottle not so far behind. Paul @slamminbones took a major hit early, with Tom @LordBaguette and Matty @Misneach_ struggling to keep with the pack. On a personal note I had the best race I could, after nailing most laps apart from hitting the barrier on lap 1 slightly. The gap between the top 3 was reducing in the latter half and I managed to grab their tails just before the remaining lap. A little slipstream, a few little bumps between, a penalty for Kiwi for a slight collision (similar to one I picked up after Paul's car touched mine!?!) and eventually I pulled through past Mike to take the lead on the last corner. Positioned myself in the best place possible to ensure Greebs couldn't do anything inthe 500m and off I went into screaming ecstasy, amazed that I won, but super happy how I ended. @Stretch616 got a super 4th considering he had no one to slipstream in the race whatsoever. Race 2 - Interlagos Greebs and Kiwi fought for top spot again, whilst Mike looked super quick. Harold @Spacedeck came online and hit the ground running, starting to show his fast one lap times swooping into 4th. Unfortunately he couldn't hold on in the race after starting well. The battle in midfield was hotting up with Tom and Matty finding some pace, but Matty just couldn't hold the car on the track, much to his frustration picking up constant penalties. Stretchy kept clean for the most part and managed to take Tom in the final standings based on his penalties but Matty just kept ahead down after penalties were added up. Race 3 - Goodwood A fun race added as a spur of the moment thing, saw everyone in the 1965 Mini (N100) with Kiwi taking early qualifying pace with Greebs bagging pole at the last moment. Harold was flying in this one, making is way past 3 or 4 of us and fighting with Kiwi back and forth. Only for him to hit the final barrier on the home stretch and lose 3rd place to me by less than a second. Mike started strongly but lost it on the 2nd lap of 3 when karma struck 😄 when he said goodbye to Stretch on the middle of the lap, only for him to slide straight off the next corner and Stretch retake his position. Tom qualified well, but then forgot we can't pause the start and came back after lap 1 was nearly over! Most of us I think we're laughing are heads off whilst spending the race mainly on two wheels every time trying to turn the Mini slightly! 🤣 Race 4 - Brands Hatch An added bonus for a final race when everyone felt they had time to spare for a quick race. No practice though, just Gr.3 on Brands Hatch and straight into qualifying. My laps slowly faded through the night as I couldn't hit corners bang without sliding off the track. Phil started to show some resurgence of form after being hit and miss in the previous races. Kiwi was struggling to be his usual super fast pace as he fell down the pecking order whilst Greebs surprisingly fell early down the ladder due to some bumps and bruises through the first corners. I had the lead for over a good lap with Mike sticking close enough to be a threat. Unfortunately I ruined my whole race by taking the first corner slightly too fast and touching the sand. This was followed later down the back straight which ended up with me spinning out. Greebs grabbed back his race pace, much to the Mike's despair and I believe Phil kept up his consistency by finishing strongly throughout each lap. A super night of racing, with a few surprises and unexpected fast times for many FGers. I've not done some updates for a while but suffice to say we've had a roller-coaster of a ride with us now bouncing around Division 3, sometimes Division 4 and hitting the dizzy heights of Division 2 a few times already. Pretty amazing achievement I think really, considering that vast difference in skill level between us all and we're pretty much having a laugh and putting the world to right as we're playing! Having said that, Monday Night Football this week started off to a flyer after having one game left in Division 3 which we needed to win to get promoted. Usually the first game of the night is a 'warm-up' game where we get spanked but hilariously we managed to take a 2-1 lead through the Rodman & Kanye combination @Lurch @jordie1892 . Somehow we made 2 perfectly timed tackles for both to be given as Penalties (Script you yell?). Well, the FIFA gods were on our side as not one, but two pens were neatly saved (second hit the bar but it was clearly us clicking buttons) and we ended up winning the game 3-2 to secure promotion. After that, the night went downhill rapidly and didn't come back up. Kind of like my se...no, I won't go there. Tom @LordBaguette will lose it if I go all negative again 😄 The results below however could've been a different story entirely, as our first game in, we started off to a flyer. James aka Rodders, hit 2 early strikes when it looked like he lost the ball both times only for him to turn like an 8-foot Olympic ice skater and bulleted home two goals. 27 minutes in, 2-0 up and we felt great. Then everything froze. For everyone. We all thought we'd get the win because we'd played enough to secure a result, but no. Nothing. After that devastating blow though, we struggled to keep the goals down, although still dominating possession up top. Goals were going in the way they had on previous occasions and it was like we had to take so much energy to build up for a goal, we'd end up losing possession, one ball through and they'd be one-on-one again. Goal. A few batterings in between those performances and a cheeky odd win too, we all probably wanted to go down as quickly as we could. We tried to end the night on a high back in Division 3 but after leading 5-3 with 20 minutes to go, and then finish with a 6-5 loss. I think the whole night was typified when we were playing well, @Macca89 managed to slide in and intercept a keeper throw out on the edge of the box, and with the ball trundling towards the net the whistle blows for Half Time. I did score a couple of good goals too though which i was happy with...until @jordie1892 showed me how I looked like a half-decent John Flanagan 🙈🤣 Unlucky lads, sometimes nights won't always go our way but still a good laugh! @Lurch @jordie1892 @Macca89 @LordBaguette @Dan94 @TonyAE86 @G_dub52 @Findmartin GGFG!

Good to have opinions on this and great to see so much advice. If my 2p is worth anything, I have a Secret Lab chair and if you can afford one, then i'd always say buy one. I think its similar to having Astros as a headset over a cheaper version. Both do the same job but this chair has helped me no end, especially now I live in it every day for 12ish hours at least a day in lockdown. As we seem to have a bit of time here as i'm sure Gaz will be delighted about 😄 from a dummy to another dummy when it comes to this stuff around the highly tech guys and girls, we should make this as simple as possible. A self build I think is the way forward because it helps you learn as you go along. All it is, is a fairly simple jigsaw, and something that could be walked through on video. What helped right at the start though was - what pieces do I need! I think @Greboth pulls this out the most so Gary can see what he needs so he can learn along the way. Can someone check the list i've took from Greebs post and add to it where possible please? I've added Keyboard and Mouse which were missing at first glance. GPU / Video Card CPU CPU Cooler (Optional but you might as well) Motherboard RAM / Memory Power Supply /PSU Storage - SSD Storage - Internal Hard Drive Case Monitor Keyboard Mouse Operating System Chair (Optional like opening reply) @techno be super clear on the budget because now you know your money needs to cover these 13 must-have items above. Its then putting 12 of those items into the Case (13th item). I apologise if i'm sounding like i'm making you suck eggs but i'm dumming it down to how I told myself because I just turned myself off all things PC for years I hadn't pretty much forgotten everything I knew (which was very little compared to these guys anyway). The budget then should be like how @J4MES OX4D said. Minimum spend with a max you'd go up to. Make the objectives real. You want for officey stuff and photography and then I imagine some hard working games we all commonly play, right? If so, then I'm sure the others here will take your list and do a PC Part Picker List so you can start seeing what each part costs, lowest price today and where to buy them from. Once you get there, then its all about next steps of building it which i'm sure we can all work out together with you. But let's take one step at a time i'd say 😄 Great to see you making the jump though, one of the best things I did in recent years!

Not sure we can get away with @Macca89 's 'dammit' one 🤣 but 'Shoot it' in his strongest, high pitched Scottish voice would do the trick! @TonyAE86 's clearly can be a mix of 'Arrgghh, yeah....I should have....I pressed L1 didnt I' @Lurch James could literally say anything in ASMR and it'd work. 'Get in there' is quite apt when said whispering 😁

Might be easier on this one to keep booking regular raid slots and then checking with everyone who joins up for that said raid to see what is outstanding. Especially with the 'all Solar classes' type ones. The other day I was with Clive @Teenwolf25 and they were helping me get a few Last Wish ones which meant per encounter we'd all switch to the relevant classes that were needed so it doesn't need to be all done in one run. I'd leave Flawless also on the list to try and get done. Clive mentioned you get a cool shader at least and as an accomplishment, its one to personally saviour i'm sure.

I agree to an extent Clive for sure. Raid seals should be one of the hardest to get but I still think based on the entire playerbase, its easy for us to forget that we're extremely lucky we get to have people that can gather for a fireteam of 6 and then be co-ordinated enough to get it done. I'm pretty sure its still around 10% of everyone has played or still plays Destiny thats only done one raid. That doesn't mean it should be easier but it will arguably still be a small % that do the seal. Cursebreaker is only at 20% complete on braytech (thats via how many people have registered with that website which won't be everyone) and thats not even a raid seal. @Baabcat is also right as you should be majorly proud you have that pinnacle seal in PvE with the Grandmaster title nailed already! That seems to be the way Bungie are heading. Either way though, whatever seal we can get, its always nice to see that gold seal shining on your character when others don't have it!
