  1. Wow this puts a lot into perspective and ma,es me appreciate so much of the little details that went into the older titles that added to the immersion
  2. Battlefield 2042 Might Go Free-To-Play, Insider Suggests - GameSpot WWW.GAMESPOT.COM EA is "looking at all the options" to restore Battlefield 2042's player numbers, including some form of free-to-play access. Definitely the most logical move and practically what everyone was expecting but even then, it would only be viable if it had a worthwhile backbone that people could invest in and players could be enticed to try it. It would also need a solid premium aspect where EA could make money and Ultimate edition owners feel they got their money's worth. When the game had a free to play week on Steam, it could only muster 36,000 players tops which was 64% down from 3 weeks previous when the game was a paid release, so much work needs to be done just to make it worth people's time let alone money. The risk is, if the game also struggles as a F2P title then it could have a horrible effect on the brand going forward including EA pulling the plug on the series altogether. Season 1 also being delayed until March at the earliest hasn't helped engagement. Personally I would refund the Ultimate Edition owners the difference between than and the base game, make it F2P, sack DICE and make Ripple Effect primary developers and then just turn focus onto the next game.
  3. Best song title ever🤣
  4. Absolutely cracking game I went to today - Oxford beat Sheff Wed 3-2 after coming twice from behind to do the double over them. Watch us lose to bottom of the league next week though😂
  5. Shame. This guy always used to put on a blockbuster performance. Would have been amazing to see him live especially not knowing what to expect.
  6. That's the problem - small developers making a minuscule difference to the bottom line of a big company is a great way to kill morale and growth in smaller studios especially if developers are being moved around to more recognised studios. All them promises Epic made to put small devs in the limelight with exclusives has failed and Microsoft's smaller acquisitions have been shadowed by Bethesda who will be releasing 1 game in the next 4 years. The greater quantity Microsoft undertake, the harder it will be for developers to progress in a centralised monopoly. Their moves just stink of PR to get ahead of Sony and stem Tencent, and they've made no credible case as to what they can bring to the table for acquisitions the same way Epic can't justify their aggressive loss-making exclusive chase. Indie games have boomed and even outshone high-budget AAA games in recent years and nobody wants to see this negatively impacted by saturation and bloat. I think the pass is great for gamers but moves Microsoft are making could be seen as short-sighted and let's not forget this is a company that abandoned PC gaming for 15 years, thought Kinect would take over the world and just 2 months ago said they were 'reevaluating their relationship' with Activision.
  7. I was speaking in terms of the broader pass concept and not the actual acquisition. Microsoft snapping more and more studios and then planting them on a cloud-based structure would likely see revenues heavily squeezed for developers and morale depleted among studios. Imagine spending 3 years to make a game and then receiving a 13 cent cut just because someone installed your game and you can't measure if it was curiosity or an 'intended purchase'. We've already seen a few of their Indie studios disappear with staff being moved around where needed whilst other developers are left in limbo. I do think the the Activision acquisition will boost the publisher no-end especially under improved ethics and a new direction - it can't get much worse after all but this aggressive stance Microsoft are taking in the industry which mimics that of Tencent may have knock-on affects in other areas that aren't apparent yet. The Game Pass has been very successful for gamers but for devs, not so a bit like how Spotify is to musicians and this could worsen the more Microsoft aim to grow their Cloud and subscription services. It may help them sell more Xbox units now but the long-term consequences may be worse for the industry especially with independent developers.
  8. This arrives in a couple of weeks and I'm bloody tempted to grab it from the off even if that means playing Elden Ring and GT7 a little later than planned. It's been in development for 5 years and whilst it doesn't look like a huge leap forward over the original, it will certainly be laden with content on what should be a very enjoyable gameplay foundation. The original game which has been out for a staggering 7 years already had been one of the most underappreciated success stories of the last generation and developers Techland provided some excellent post-launch support with that. Dying Light sold 17m copies by 2019 and is probably past 20m now which is crazy but completely deserved. I just hope the sequel can capture the same level of interest and quality.
  9. Scoreboard coming next month and it's not going to be called any 'legacy' bullshit either. It's the real deal although it does look a bit nasty in terms of colours and bloat. Cannot believe it's taken 4 months to get the most simplest feature into the game. It's also been an absolute shit-show between the developers and the community majority on getting this in with Vince Zampella saving the day it seems.
  10. Game Pass is a terrible deal for developers so the only way Microsoft can expand their game range for that is by directly acquiring the developers/publishers for themselves. It's definitely a good deal for gamers but some developers are walking away with under 50 cents an install as opposed to up to $60 licence ownership to the consumer minus any distribution cuts. Not every game has additional revenue streams either. Just like the Epic Games Store, the pass once hosted older games that already reached peak revenue potential but now MS want newer titles straight on there and the only way they can do that without stumping up lump sum fees is by owning the publishers themselves. Centralising gaming like this could reduce output quality going forward and increase already tight internal competition so I really hope that it doesn't have a negative affect on newer releases that may go on there. Could also increase bullshit like NFT's to mitigate any reduced revenue as we've already seen with STALKER 2 who are already confirmed to be on the pass day one.
  11. Microsoft have infinite money at their disposal but they have lost every battle with Sony in the console space. They have always lacked significant in-house development studios to produce exclusive titles which are major system sellers, so the next best thing is to monopolise the industry for themselves and stifle direct competition in the process. The more multi-platform AAA games they draw to their own system through acquisitions, the more reliant Sony will be in creating their own titles, whilst mainstream gamers may be forced to buy into Xbox just to play popular games they would've played on the rival. MS probably wont ever profit from this buyout but taking away users from Sony could be priceless and this is the only way they can do it. Without the likes of Bethesda and the other smaller acquisitions, they'd still be in the dark days on Kinect. Hopefully this will be the end of Battlenet on PC though and it would be great to see Activision titles back on Steam. It'll probably take many years for this move to have any real impact in terms of games though.
  12. Well it looks like fat bastard Bobby will get a fat payday and still run the show for the time being. His contract is up soon though apparently. Thankfully there is one person above his head now. I think this is pretty risky from Microsoft - $70bn invested could have built a Goliath studio with a clean slate reputation. Activision may have a few stale IP's but the studio is covered in controversy and is a shadow of its former self in regards of innovation and quality games. Maybe Microsoft will be able to swing it but a lot needs to change. I'm pretty sure it was only a couple of months back Phil Spencer was slating the studio. Maybe he got himself a discount🤣
  13. It's been revealed that they stopped tracking Hazard Zone last month because the numbers were so tiny. There's been suggestions from data that a minority of users have tried it once and then never again. Also Portal mode last week had 552 players globally at peak with crossplay enabled - these figures are absolutely shocking. Season 1 (whatever that entails) likely wont be out until March either and from now until then, there's God of War PC, Horizon Forbidden West, Total War: Warhammer 3, Dying Light 2, D2: The Witch Queen, Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7 and Forspoken. Bear in mind that when this game was trialed as a F2P on Steam late last year, it mustered 36,000 at best which was half as much as Farming Simulator and down 64% on release less than a month previous. The Battlefield Direct Communication Twitter hadn't tweeted since December 18th until two days ago after immense pressure from the community to restore Rush - that's one Tweet in almost 1 month from the key community relations department. Meanwhile the community manager seems oblivious and is busy asking users what weekly challenges they want to see!? Ultimate Edition owners are also waiting in the dark regarding their 'premium' content whilst others are wondering if it'll go F2P soon. I honestly don't know what they can do to salvage this game now.
  14. I'll be happy to see the back of PS Now and them to integrate that catalogue and more up to date stuff into a pass format. £50 for PS+ and then another £50 on top for PS Now which didn't even include the individual game prices was absolutely ludicrous. What made it worse was that some of the games you could rent (and stream) cost more than buying them outright. I'm actually shocked people bought into it - who's gonna pay £49.99 to then pay £9.99 to play Borderlands 2 for 30 days when they could just buy it for £4.99!? PS Now was also a monumental flop on PC especially when compared to Game Pass. It's about 3 years too late but a PS Pass or something would be a welcome alternative especially if users can stream a huge library for free without having to pay any extras.
  15. Looks more amazing than ever!
  16. Same old story really - game just a few months away from release and then delayed massively out of the blue. Kinda makes you wonder what state they were looking to release the game in if they stuck to their initial target. Deathloop was 5 weeks away from launch and had a big pre-release event and then when that finished, it got delayed by 6 months. With the recent NFT saga, it really casts more dismay on the game and it could even go into 2023 too.

This is interesting - a BMW that can change colour on the fly. RIP Pay 'N' Spray!

  20. No shots on target either. Feelsbadman😎
  21. Been playing this the last few days after picking it up cheap and have enjoyed it more than I was expecting. It's definitely not as scary as RE7 but you never really know what you're walking into and there is some interesting level and enemy design. The trader and inventory management aspect is back from RE4 but I never felt like I was tight for funds or space and there wasn't any hard decisions to make regarding upgrades or what to discard. It's definitely trickier early on but once you start finding treasures then you can afford anything and everything. Wish they were more stingier in this regard. It's not a hard game either but combat is still pretty fun especially against numbers. There's also the usual puzzles, backtracking and shortcuts to unlock which is great. After a few missteps with RE5/6, it's brilliant that Capcom are still innovating and keeping this franchise alive where so many other AAA titles have died or been killed off by their publishers.
