  1. I don't get what was wrong with my tone - all I said that it wasn't the point about it being 'petty' - it was about a large percentage of existing owners not being able to play their game ever again if Sony followed through with their demands. Sony largely don't give a toss their self-published 3rd party games, their server infrastructure, their global community, their online security, their employees integrity or users purchase history. It's always been known that they couldn't give a monkey's about any country outside of the usual Japan, Europe and the USA. I've always liked Sony personally - I have all their consoles, hundreds of games and their free online offering of PSN during the PS3 era was fantastic for gamers but this is a company with utterly dreadful policies and lack of services outside of mainstream nations and it's partly because of shocking technical and business decisions without due consideration. They were also very happy to see Helldivers 2 pulled from sale in 170 countries before this embarrassing u-turn and this was not a goodwill gesture - they knew from a legal standpoint they'd be toast if they enforced it and they have no desire to rollout PSN globally either.
  2. That's not the point - over 600,000 owners in 98 countries would have lost access to the entire game because PSN is not available in their region. The game was also forcibly removed from sale in 170 counties where PSN is not supported the day before they did a u-turn. Sony also have a shambolic reputation for security integrity so I can see why a lot of people are apprehensive about creating an account and mandatorily sharing their information with them and their affiliates, however the central issue with this situation was a huge portion of product owners would have not been able to play their purchase ever again due to this needless requirement. EA's service operates globally and if there is content restrictions in place, users cannot purchase outright so they aren't at risk of being burned down the line by things becoming inaccessible. This would be like Sony saying you need an Asian PSN account to play Final Fantasy games now and if you don't have one, you can't play their games anymore.
  3. Sony have done a u-turn PlayStation Reverses Course on Helldivers 2 PSN Account Requirement - IGN WWW.IGN.COM PlayStation has walked back the PSN account requirement for Helldivers 2, telling fans "we've heard your feedback" and saying "we're still learning what's best for PC players." Pity it had to get to this stage where far too much damage has been done. Just hope their next catastrophic decision isn't quite as bad.
  4. Arrowhead Games CEO has just admitted he knew all along that PSN would be a requirement and chose to disable it at launch so ‘players could play the game’. Sounds like an astonishing bait and switch and he knew millions of players would be screwed over down the line. He also said that he didn’t do enough to ensure that players would be made aware of such requirement but that surely was the whole objective to sell as many copies globally and to hell with players. Now it begs the question as to whether the in-house devs actually knew all along and their newfound ‘shock’ is nothing more than PR theatre. Ukrainian’s are also reporting that they need to own a PS5 console to register an account to play the game now.
  5. 4 very bad defeats in a row for Spurs now and little chance of grabbing a top 4 place after failing to capitalise on any games in hand and today's defeat for Villa. Well done to Ipswich for getting back into the Prem also!
  6. Fallen to 49% positive overall now with an estimated 98 countries of recognised owners being excluded from playing the game they own. Helldivers 2 has also been removed from sale in 170 countries. The game already survived a torrid start after Sony's absolutely horrendous implementation of servers but I can't see it getting past this even if they remove the requirement. Looks like Sony are standing firm on their decision so this could get very messy indeed. Somehow I don't think the developers will be working with Sony again after two absolutely devastating errors of judgement have ruined a very successful game. This will also shatter Sony's venture into the PC gaming space and a lot of people will turn their backs on future releases with or without the PSN requirement.
  7. This game could really blow up. 1-6 player survival title with a sci-fi backdrop inspired by Half Life
  8. Sony have thrown PC players and the game under the bus by forcing a Playstation account requirement out of nowhere. Not every country has access to PSN so players wont be able to play the game anymore. Use of VPN or falsifying location could lead to termination on PSN and Steam itself so that is not an option. This utterly needless and dumb requirement is nothing more than to inflate Sony's network numbers as the game does not need an extra DRM layer because it functions as it is without it. They also have a diabolical record of account security and data integrity after 7 significant breaches in 13 years so I can also see why players are reluctant to create one when Sony can't even protect their own employees personal information let alone the community. Helldivers developers were also completely unaware of this move and as I said in another thread, Sony are responsible for the game as per their publication rights which includes the server infrastructure and this is yet another absolute shit show of an oversight to the community. If they don't do a u-turn then this could severely impact the game. It's already down to 32% positive based on recent Steam reviews and still falling. The community manager has also made a complete tit of himself with some of the most ignorant takes imaginable. First Tarkov and now this. 2024 is turning into year of fucking up your successful game for no valid reason.
  9. Sony are already removing paid products and shutting content servers down plus you also have the likes of Ubisoft even revoking licences and making games totally inaccessible so all in all, several games in the last decade have become unplayable. Some titles even require day one downloads to function because the disc is incomplete and about as useful as a paperweight. If a game has a single player component and can play out of the box then it's fine but there will be many titles that will become wholly unplayable. Thankfully most of the modern shite isn't even worth treasuring which is why 99% of my games are digital now and I couldn't care less. Don't think I'll have the urge to visit The Crew 2 in 15 years time. I think after the PS3/XB360 era when physical media died and live service took over, that's when I stopped giving a toss. It's also the time the industry changed for the worse.
  10. Probably Deus Ex. The game essentially predicted the future.
  11. Very tough choice because the 90's made some huge strides in very little time and the industry kept evolving and innovating massively - imagine going from Doom to Half Life in just 5 years! The gulf between a 2019 game compared to a 2024 one now is almost nothing. Metal Gear Solid is a very strong shout because it told an incredible story and had some unforgettable gameplay moments. There's also Half Life as mentioned, Resident Evil 2, FF7, Super Mario 64, GoldenEye, Age of Empires 2 and many more. I'd probably give it to MGS overall as it pushed the PS1 to the max and also exposed Nintendo's mistake in using cartridges as even some of the sound files were bigger than an entire N64 game! Games going from 2D to 3D was big in those days and Mario 64 was also a significant leap. I really miss huge innovations like that these days.
  12. Only 44% positive so far but I'm guessing lots of people are leaving a negative review after 0.3 hours after experiencing performance issues or bitching that the game isn't finished🤣 Arma Reforger seems to have come a long way of late and the population is picking up so I may check that out in time.
  13. Big opportunity for this game now especially after the Tarkov calamity.
  14. Call of Duty: Vanguard
  15. It gets worse Tarkov studio claims it actually doesn't have the server capacity for everyone who bought the game for $150 to play its upcoming PvE mode, still wants players to pay extra | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Battlestate Games continues to assert that this upcoming mode does not constitute "DLC," and is thus not part of the $150 bundle. So they don't have the capacity to support PvE even for users who bought the $150 game so they now expect people to pay $250 instead lmao! I can see why the offline mod was so popular and I honestly don't know why they don't go down this route - save a boatload on operating costs and allow people to play the mode as intended without the burden of being always online. If they can't afford it then they can't do it. This situation is so dire, they'll probably have to call it quits, sell the brand to some diarrhoea Chinese company like Tencent and walk away before they wreck the game into absolute oblivion.
  16. Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Riddled With Issues - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Bethesda's highly anticipated next gen update for Fallout 4 is riddled with issues across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
  17. I was always really interested in Tarkov but didn't take the plunge because I got fed up of the developers keeping the game in early access and moving goalposts with content and promises. They are really beginning to take the piss now and the greed has really set in. Also some really dumb decisions have been made on the direction the game is going in and so much time has been wasted on these fringe endeavours. Charging $250 is utterly unacceptable for a videogame especially when it's P2W and also locking a basic game mode behind it. I can only assume they wasted a huge amount of money on their failed battle royale venture and are now desperate. Even the $150 version was taking the piss. If they brought the game to Steam all those years ago and charged £35-40 then they probably would've netted an extra 10-15m players and eased many burdens with running the game through their own framework. Escape From Tarkov players rage as developers lock co-op PvE behind a new $250 edition despite promising access to 'all subsequent DLCs' in its old $150 edition | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM It's getting ugly out there.
  18. Crazy how Chelsea have spent $1.5bn including a few £100m+ players and Palmer is the only decent signing. City probably shouldn't have got rid of him although it would've been very hard to accommodate him into the team at the time. Impressive how good he is in such a bad Chelsea side and probably the only remotely exciting player they have. Jackson is probably the worst finisher in history and could've probably netted 40 goals this season.
  19. I think it launches in early access on April 26th but I'm not sure what the ETA on the finished article is.
  20. Just seen the game is releasing but it'll be in early access. Developers only added this amendment to the store page a few days ago which is an exceptional and somewhat inexcusable oversight because it's a tad misleading. Looks like I'll put it on ice for a while but I'm sure it will still release in a very decent state.
  21. I hope they make the interface bigger, I can barely see anything especially the score🤣
  22. Developers seem like absolute twats sadly. There's been some solid feedback but they just don't want to listen and are really up content creators arses and not prospective buyers who are actually providing key feedback rather than just milking viewers. The fact passengers can't fire guns whilst in helicopters is absolutely fatal and will just see people camping landing and extraction zones only to be shot as soon as they exit. Things like this need to be understood and addressed logically rather than the devs throwing toys out of their pram. Shame because it does have a lot of impressive elements so it will be sad if they sour things with the community before the game is even out.
  23. Gutted for Coventry! What a remarkable comeback in a quite epic game and then getting screwed by VAR with the last kick of the game. If I were a United fan, I don't think I would even be able to celebrate after that near-humiliation. More questions for Ten Hag and another capitulation. Meanwhile Nottingham Forest have made a stunning statement after their defeat to Everton. Absolutely mad daw of football!
