Lack of storage, cost of games, rare games that would cost an arm and a leg to purchase, size of CRT TVs and bad quality from newer TVs unless using expensive adapters. There's plenty of reasons why one would go down emulation route and I do this for the very reasons I listed.
I lack any kind of space to build a collection like I would like, nor do I have that kind of money.
While I do emulate, it lets me play games I would never otherwise have played or owned, you can choose between the better frame rates of USA versions (with slight reduction to picture).
Certain consoles I would tend to go physical though and I'm still interested in obtaining them, but these will be systems that use discs due to size to store them digitally and they will be consoles where a lot of games wasn't ported to newer systems.
So things like GameCube, PS2, PSOne.
If I build a collection now, it'll be a selective collection where I'll try something out through emulation before investing in the physical version.
None of the money we spend on retro things goes to the companies that made these products anyway.

I did and it's fun. There's 6 cups in total, once you complete them all, they just reset at a harder difficulty. Playing online is probably the biggest draw back, there's 4v4 but only if using 4 switches and each switch has 2 players playing per switch. 4v4 with randoms is something they really need to add. There's the creation of a team but I think this is somewhat limited, I jut haven't joined a club to try it out yet.
You can't select no team and have the CPU vs CPU which is something I'd have liked to watch.
Overall very fun, great gameplay but some areas are lacking and could use some improvement.

I hope you all had a great day! Did you get a break or spend the day with your kids? What did you get up to?
I received a lovely home made card but have spent the day being a Dad. Cleaning the room, vaccing, countless washing, caring for my youngest daughter who's got sickness and runny poos... fun day. Looks like it's a call to the Doctors in the morning as she just isn't improving.
Anyway, hope you all had a great day (not just Dad's!).

I've tried Stadia and to be fair to them, the controller feels nice and I had a much better experience streaming through Stadia over WiFi, than I did using Microsoft's streaming service through GamePass on an ethernet connected to the pc!

That's a great deal but just make sure you'll play the game. I have bought too many bundles cheaply (including the last one of Cities Skyline), and hardly even touched it. So good price in general but only if you have intentions to invest time.

I'm not an artist in the slightest but I do have multiple attempts at learning to draw with various sources so have an idea on the basics that I myself can't apply very well. It looks good but I will ask if behind the face, did you deconstruct and then construct the face again, or just try to copy it as it it?
Also I wouldn't copy another image if you can help it, use it as a reference but make it your own.
After seeing this thread, I decided to start once again my quest in learning to draw. So firstly I'd say if you haven't considered videos/courses/tutorials before, take a good look at Drawabox, something that was born from Reddit I believe https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtFundamentals/
Drawabox | A free, exercise based approach to learning the fundamentals of drawing
DRAWABOX.COMA free, exercise based approach to learning the fundamentals of drawing. We tackle drawing in a logical, analytical fashion inspired by concept artists and industrial designers, focusing on technical skills...Over the years I've also watched a guy called Jazza (formally DrawWithJazza) on YouTube, his channel has changed now from the traditional art, so I don't watch it much anymore. I've purchased some of this material which I'll share with you, you might find the anatomy and faces books useful. There is also an app in the folder which is a games app. It gives you ideas and one of the best features of the app will tell you something random to draw.

It is indeed a very nice bundle. I wait patiently now to see what Fanatical have up their sleeves, which I think will drop next week.

It's a shame Nintendo still haven't implemented an easy way of chatting in-game like Xbox and PlayStation have. Do you know your friend code @phil bottle? I can add it to the first post if you like. I bet MK8 would be awesome fun to play MP.
I'm still yet to get BOTW but it's on my list, along with Mario Tennis, Golf, Odyssey, 3D World + Bowser's Fury and some others 😅.
I'm really looking forward to Mario Strikers: Battle League Football
Anything goes on this pitch!
WWW.NINTENDO.CO.UKThe latest game in the Mario Strikers series is coming to Nintendo Switch! Also if you have Online + Expansion, when the Booster Course Pass drops for MK8, it's included in the subscription! Also includes Happy Home Paradise for Animal Crossing.
I've played some of the emulation on the console, mostly NES and it's decent. It won't replace my main retro setup mind but for on the go, it's pretty good.

Be aware that games will NOT be given to accounts less than a month old and who has less than 10 posts. I'm only doing this as I don't want someone to sign up with just the intention of getting free games.

Remember I haven't tried these codes and can't check if they are still active, so apologies in advance for anything that might not work.

If anyone is interested, you can grab a bunch of indie games and other goodies for very little to support a charity. Do note none of these are Steam keys and all are DRM-Free.
I was wondering if this thread might be better suited in the General Gaming forum? As this is hardware talk and these are games / giveaways?

I remember when Pestily was doing his long stream and giving away one of these PCs like every 6 hours, I think he was giving away like 15 overall. After that I watched a few streams on occasion and they seemed a nice bunch who interacted with the community, never did I see comments like this though. Pity it had to come to this.

So as I've mentioned before, I now own a Switch. I haven't gone down the route of PlayStation or Xbox due to most games being released on PC nowadays. I know Switch has been out for years at this stage, but I jumped in on the OLED scene, the new screens look amazing! After getting it, you can really see where this little beauty shines. It's very family orientated, small and compact design, looks sleek, detachable controllers, dockable screen for TV and handheld play, amazing first party games. Downsides is first party and exclusive games being stupidly expensive, even years after release and you see very little sales on anything official. Online chat is none existent outside of the phone app or any other program you may choose to use.
Coming from the age of Steam and digital games (over 1,400 on Steam and many more through other platforms), I was conflicted once again between choosing physical games or digital. Nintendo push for digital sales, but I still prefer physical media with a physical device (Steam is only an application), part of buying digital sort of feels wrong on a console. Mostly games can be bough cheaper too second hand, most are £25 at the minimum but you'll be looking more at £30-38 for most games. They do continue to use a stupid amount of plastic for such a small cartridge.
So I said I was a new Nintendo Switch user? Well, here's all the goodies I've received since buying the console.
Nintendo Switch OLED White
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
PDP Pull N Go Case Elite Nintendo Switch (should arrive Saturday)
Pokeball Thumb Grips from Etsy shop (with postman)
Games:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
*Hollow Knight
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Party Superstars
*Mario + Rabbids® Kingdom Battle
Minecraft
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Pokemon Shield (including steel tin)
*Snipperclips Plus
Due to cost and the idea Nintendo hate selling games, I'll use a combination of physical and digital(*) media to build the collection. First party games I'd prefer physical if they can be had cheaper, otherwise for indie / smaller titles I may end up digital.
It is a very addicting little device, it may not be powerful or have pretty graphics, but being easily accessible and portable makes up for it. I don't know if anyone here even bothers with the Switch anymore but I thought I'd try here to see if anyone wanted to be added as a friend. Even if just to increase my friends list beyond just my brother 😅.

I'm glad you gave the option for monthly, helps me in my situation and I can still keep feeding money through gradually without too much of a worry. Plus I find it easier to commit when it's a set up and leave like subscriptions than I am with just random donations. Thanks.

If anyone is looking for a family cooperative board game, I highly recommend Horrified Monsters. Pretty simple to learn, my daughter can play with a little bit of guidance on what moves to make (she's 6) and partner who isn't a board game person can also play fairly easily.
I'm more a cooperative gamer as I'm not much of a fan of competition.

Still slowly working through Harry Potter books on the Kobo. Also, picked up Guinness World Records 2022 book from an trip to Aldi
I finally got around to ordering this which may not be the best in the series but I look forward to reading up on some lore history I may have missed.
Thoughts on emulation?

Also to add, while I don't have the room or funds to go physical, I do try to get as close to the real thing where I can. So I have the 8BitDo N30 controller to play NES, GB, GBA, GBC, 8BitDo M30 for GameGear and MegaDrive, Raphnet adapter for use with a real N64 controller which supports rumble packs and memory packs, Mayflash adapter for a real GameCube controller and Bongo drums, PS3 controller for PSOne and PS2.
The authentic look is nice to have but I much prefer the button placements of the controllers to be near identical or very close to the original controllers, if they also happen to look the same then it's a huge bonus.
