    I don’t know about mobile devices, though they’re on the same version as far as I know so maybe. But ps4, xbox1, switch and pc* can all play together. *pc has to be Minecraft Bedrock edition ( officially just called Minecraft). Minecraft Java edition that most pc people are used to is pc only. I’ll do some more reading on a server and what can or can’t be done.

    I generally agree with your post Lee, though your first point is a little catch 22. People are only going to arrange events and stuff for games they want to play but there isn’t any big game at the moment so we’re a little fractured. If we find our destiny 1 then I’m sure more events will be created.

    Holy posts batman. We already do have an MC Server but as it’s running java modded Minecraft then it isn’t open to consoles. Everyone (pc and consoles) can play together but it needs to be the bedrock edition. Unfortunately though from my brief look around, our current server can’t be converted as consoles only allow certain authorised servers to be used. Though if it is a serious consideration, I’m happy to look in to it more. Alternatively, we could always run a modded and vanilla server side by side. As a vanilla server isn’t that expensive so enough players would make it like £1 month each.

    There’s a few things you missed off (racing and minecraft is also a survival game) but I accept they’re outliers too even if I think everyone should play them. I can’t really think of a game off the top of my head the fulfills the criteria but I’ll come back to this thread once I’ve done some thinking.

    You just can’t beat the classics @Plumbers Crack Saw The Dead South last night, one of the best gigs I’ve been to in years. Between them sounding so good live and clearly having fun, with their bits of choreography like at 42:40 with the bastard son or synchronised beer drinking at 1:02:20, it was a really enjoyable evening. Plus a cello being worn like a guitar is something a bit unusual. So rather than post any specific songs, here’s a recording of one of their live shows.

    The peer pressure 😱 It’s on my radar of games to keep an eye on but feeling poor at the moment after paying off Goodwood so maybe in the future.

    Except it is slightly baffling. The infrastructure is already there for digital games so it can’t be more expensive to distribute digitally. So it’s purely a profit thing? But that doesn’t make sense either as disc based media is so easily available. Some people will pay for the convenience but I can’t imagine many do. As far as I know digital isn’t any cheaper on xbox than PS so it isn’t like Song charge a fee or take a percentage for publishers using their network. Well unless Sony and M$ take roughly the same amount. But then that doesn’t make sense as the marketing advantage of being able to offer cheaper digital games would be massive. So all in all, I can’t work out why they don’t sell digital at the same price as physical. It costs less to distribute, loads if people would do it so more profit.

    Interesting article and gives food for thought. I know for me, as well as others have expressed a similar opinion, that I’d go digital more often if prices were competitive. Digital copies at their full RRP of £50-£60 stand no chance when physical copies are sold for around £40. Also the figures at the bottom seem off. I know they’re only estimates but surely the xbox series x can’t be over 3x worse than the PS5?

    So after logging off CoD last night, I decided to give this a watch. I’d forgotten some of things that happen but even though I know what’s coming it’s still a funny film. As I said on whatsapp, this film means every time I hear Time to say goodbye all I want to sing is boats and hoes. That’s the power of the fucking Catalina wine mixer.

    A sponsored drinking competition, we’d be good at that 😂 Not everything has to be gaming related but that is the thing that brought us together so keeping that in mind. The obvious one would be a really long gaming session. Like you see the 24 hour gaming sessions with donations going to a charity. The problem with that though I think you need a reasonable following in the first place. Though maybe still an idea. My other thought was like you seeing people doing the marathon in dress up. I’m not suggesting we do a marathon but could do a 10k or something in cosplay. If we picked the right sort of characters the outfits wouldn’t be too bad to make or walk in etc.

    Original GTA on PC you could enter cheat codes when typing your character name. If you entered ‘suckmyrocket’ you had all weapons in the game. Or ‘iamthelaw’ for no police. Trust Rockstar to get some humour in their cheat codes.

    It would be good for the GPU market to knock nVidia down a peg or two as their pricing for the higher end cards is just ridiculous. Though I'm not so sure AMD will go chasing those halo products in the GPU market for now. Sure, having a halo product gets their name out there more but it's the CPU market where the money is - more specifically HEDT and server CPU's. As that is the market they need to push and focus on, I don't see them really focusing on consumer GPU's for a few years.

    Yeah, competition in the cpu market is needed. Too long the CPU market stagnated due to Intel’s iterative upgrades due to no competition. Arguably they’re paying for it now though as AMD are smashing them and some of the rumours about 10th series sound bad. Though I hope few more years of AMD domination so the company is financially sound and they regain a decent market share.

    I hadn’t realised there had been perk changes too. I’ll have to check them out as reading that suggests you now can’t run ghost and overkill as they’re in the same perk.

    My vitiol in my other post aside, I’ll give it another go of two to properly judge though I’m not hopeful. I’d also like to try it in free for all as that was how I mostly played it in mw2.

    Yes, yes it can! I watched LTT’s video review on AMD’s Threadripper 3990x - a very modest 64 core 128 thread CPU 😂. The thing that got me about it though is they got it playing Crysis solely on the CPU! It is crazy how far AMD have come recently and how hard they’re spanking Intel. Skip to 10 mins in if you don’t want to watch the rest.

    Yes, the i5 is an all round faster and better cpu than your A10. If you’re not looking to do a full upgrade for a while then I’d say yes it’s worth getting a motherboard for. It will be hard to find stock due to the age but if you’re on a budget constraint I’d go for the cheapest you can find from one of the main brands (Asus, msi, asrock, gigabyte) that meet you requirements for sata ports for harddrives, sound output etc.

    That mother board looks alright 🙂 As for a cpu mother board combo, I’d say no. If you’re going to upgrade then it’s worth doing a proper upgrade. The problem is any more recent cpu’s worth upgrading to are all going to be ddr4 (whereas you’re ddr3). Which you aren’t going to do in your current budget. Any combo you could get in your budget would be a small upgrade and still on a dead upgrade path as it will also be ddr3.

    A general answer for now as without reading some reviews I can't recommend a specific one. The Z77 boards won't work as they're socket 1155 but your CPU is 1150. Socket 1150 needs a B87, H87, Z87 or H97 or Z97. The 97 boards were a refresh over the 87 board so have a few extra features. As a general rule the Z boards are the top tier come with everything and have a price to match, B boards are the low spec sacrifice areas to keep them as cheap as possible and H boards are somewhere in the middle. Some of the cheaper / smaller boards will only have 2 RAM slots so something to keep an eye on though I can't think of any consumer board that doesn't have a PCI-E lane so your GPU will fit whichever one you get. As for the cooler - they're not brand specific per se but they are socket specific. Most coolers come with an AMD bracket and Intel - though which intel depends. Some manufacturers will give / sell you other socket brackets which is easier and cheaper than buying a new cooler.
