  1. That vid is Jackfrags though. Him and Frankie have been using controversy to get views for years. They're both idiots, both have been caught cheating, bribing server admins for goodies, and being absolute bell ends to people on DayZ.
  2. As Bart says, it's definitely not a gaming platform ("yet" - this card is as old as Linux itself). That said, if you want to learn coding or web design / development, it's ridiculously good. I know you've got your retirement coming up Dave, if you're interested in learning any of this stuff (which is great fun, make no mistake) then let me know, I'll paste some link for good resources and whatnot.
  3. Fantastic news Dave! Linux is awesome. Once you've used it for a bit you soon realise how bogged down Windows is. As for starting, last time I fiddled with Linux was the days when Redhat was king, no idea where that stands now. You'll find that the answer depends on who you ask, everyone has their preferences but Pinguy seems to be the most prevalent. Make sure that whatever one you choose, it's the 64bit version. This is a good read: http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/which-is-the-best-distro-for-beginners--1213490 If you use an Android phone, be prepared to be amazed at the similarities, because under all it's fancypants evolved apps and pretty icons, lies a Linux kernel. Of course later on you can always buy a Raspberry Pi and install Linux on that, you can do almost anything with it. A combination made in heaven really.
  4. Awesome dude. There are already tons of good stories coming out of the DZ. I love it. I just wish I got regular XP there.
  5. The A50s have every input possible, and will work with anything. Crikey, I'm sure I could plug my wang in and hear Scarlett Johanssen have a sex wee.
  6. Wtf. Loads of differences between the two. The Hyper212 EVO is a great cooler, I hit 4.6ghz on my 2500k with it no problem. Dunno about that Cryorig thing, never heard of it. What's with the two different GPUS? EVGA is definitely the better one, their after market service is the best around. The card will be built better using better components too, the VRMs on 980ti cards were known to throw a wobbly after a while and EVGA replaced all of them no problem, they also upgraded the ones they installed to stop it happening. Go for the 850w psu, the 650 will be fine but you never know where you'll be in five years time and having that headroom is always good for peace of mind. A few SSD's will put that 650 over the limit. Good call on EVGA though, excellent kit. I'll have to get back to you on the motherboards but don't go for the i7, it's wasted on you. If you start heavily editing videos and stuff it's great but for the odd video here or there the i5 is more than adequate. Case wise as long as it's from a good brand it'll be fine. I have a thing for Cooler Master CM690 cases and will always recommend them as the build quality is untouchable by anything in its price range. Excellent airflow, loads of room for cable management, removable HDD caddy, easy removable clips, good front panel and it looks very slick. Of course this is purely my opinion but have a look anyway. Good call, but if you even think about becoming a full time PC peasant we will hunt you down
  7. That's pretty good Bobski! I felt like something a bit harder today (oooo errrrr)... cue Korsakoff! Honestly, I think I single handedly upheld the ecstacy trade in Holland during these years.
  8. Don't be a hero Gary. No hero has sniffles.
  9. All my gaming takes place on a Samsung32D850T 32" 1440p monitor which, quite frankly, is the best thing I've ever bought together with my Astro A50s. One thing PC gaming taught me is that you can have a billionty pound PC, but if you're staring at a shit screen all day it still ruins the experience, same with the A50s. All three points of contact are good for me now, my eyes, my ears, and my hands. This monitor is my baby, with PC use it's 1440p as well, so I can have a few windows open and still see what I'm doing.
  10. Looks great Rob! What size are the monitors? I'll come to this eventually. Got a wee bit of cable management to do beforehand.
  11. I want a scarf with dalmations on it.
  12. We spent about an hour in the DZ last night. I got up to DZ12 and made about $600, didn't buy anything though. We didn't come across a single player, everything we killed was an NPC. The extractions were fairly easy, it really was a good time. That said, we were in a party of four (bear, cripspee, lee and myself) so maybe players saw us and thought better of it, who knows. I'm loving it, the difficulty feels spot on, but it really is a team area, I don't think I would've stood a chance was it not for those guys. Got loads of blues, most of which are too high level for me to use but they're good to have for when I eventually level up. One thing I wish was better is the size of the DZ backpack, but I haven't really looked in to upgrading it yet, maybe I can simply flop some cash on the counter and get a new one, who knows. Loving it. I can imagine it'll get pretty damn tense when you come up against another team.
  13. Cheers Dave! I'll probably hop on at some point in the near future for a bit. As much as I love the Division, I don't want to get burned out and Destiny is a great game still.
  14. Read the OP dumbass
  15. Yep. I was just thinking about this the other day. CoD used to be a military shooter with *some* degree of realism, but it's just evolved into an arena shooter with loads of kids shit. I don't mind though, I just wish we could have a proper one again, with ghillies and stuff.
  16. I don't know about the DZ, but I was doing a mission the other day and lost connection half way through, I reconnected and was in the same mission, everything was saved - health bars, corpse locations, the lot. I suspect that as the DZ is a "live" zone it'll be the same too. I doubt it Bob, although I did notice during the beta that there are some areas which only have one exit, presumably these were added for that very reason. Plus if you're rolling with a team you can always ask your team to defend you while you go squeeze one out.
  17. Just to clarify, I wasn't referring to anyone from here with my post, but rather what I've been reading on Reddit and other forums.
  18. No sir, if you walk in to the DZ and get killed before you loot anything, you lose nothing. I'd like to see PVP geared perks on DZ gear and PVE geared perks on everything else.
  19. I'm already reading loads of complaints about it from the usual "I just want to go in and get loot and leave" crowd and this irritates me. There will be other means of getting high end gear, such as crafting, hard mode missions, lucky drops, and hopefully raids. There are enough risk-free ways of getting gear, I sincerely hope that Ubisoft doesn't cater to these people and leaves the DZ as it is. It's a high risk area where you have to be on your toes and risk all your gear in order to get better stuff, and this is a brilliant concept. What loads of people seem to be forgetting is that you can only lose what you pick up that session. Everything you have on you when you enter is 100% safe, people can not take that. You can not lose XP that you gained outside of the DZ, you can not lose cash that you got outside of the DZ and you can not lose gear that you got outside of the DZ. The same applies to sessions. If you extract something, that's it, it's yours forever. You can not lose it next time you go in to the DZ, so the only stuff you can lose is what you gained that session. It irritates me that people are wanting Ubisoft to tweak the DZ into a cuddly friendly place where we can all dance together and get loads of free loot. There is enough content outside of the DZ to keep people busy, so can they kindly keep their hands off the DZ? I love it. I love that excitement of getting something nice, the tension of defending it until extraction, extracting it, and the relief of finally seeing that heli take it away. It's a tense and exciting area and that's exactly what it should be. /Rant over.
  20. So far I'm loving it but that was to be expected. The first few levels were pretty tough but once you start unlocking weapon mods and other stuff you can really feel your character grow stronger. I'm currently level 9, died a few times but nothing too major. I've had missions where I just face rolled through them and missions which required a very slow approach which is nice, if a mission is too hard I can simply leave it and come back later. The amount of content is astonishing. Apart from the main quest lines you have side quests, encounters, and random stuff. Then there's the secondary stuff like phone recordings, crashed drones, echoes, missing agents, little boxes of loot everywhere, a crafting system, and more. I must admit I'm genuinely surprised at how much there is. I ventured in to the DZ at level 6 and walked out with sixteen new arse holes so I'll give that a miss until later on. It's not without fault however, the laptop activation thing was a pain for many, people standing in doorways, that kind of thing. One bug which irritated me was when Cripspee was stuck on the hospital mission I joined his party but ended up on the other side of the world and couldn't fast travel (didn't think to try fast travelling to the mission itself however, will have to check that out). Another small thing which drives me up the fucking wall is the speech. Being in a difficult fight means having to take it slow, and having a JTF dude standing next to you repeating the same four words every ten seconds made me want to rip his throat out. Other than that I'm loving it. It's beautiful, there's loads to do, PVE, PVP, solo play, Co op play, it's all there. I'll have to see how long it lasts as I will probably have minced through all the content in a week or so but if Ubisoft keep on top of the bugs and don't tweak the guns every time you blink I can see myself sinking some considerable hours in to this game.
  21. Damn, this is awful news. Dizzy was always one of those people who would never hesitate to help with anything and was always polite, a true gentleman. My heart is with his family and friends at this horrible time, rest in peace big man
  22. I wouldn't touch Asus ROG stuff with a barge pole again. I bought the ROG Swift when it came out, it had backlight bleed, loads of dead pixels and a wonky stand. The way Asus saw it I paid and that was that. Luckily we're covered by law here so I just sent it back to the supplier and got my cash back. Their service was enough to put me off for life (this is also a common trend with Asus, sadly I wasn't a one off). Don't get me wrong, it was an absolute beast of a monitor and I did try everything to get it right but their lack of interest just shut that door for me for life. Maybe Murica is different, dunno.
  23. The one I posted is an i5 (double check the names, one letter or number out can be a completely different laptop).
  24. Can't you hook it up to another system and use that OS? Or make a Linux USB and boot off that.
