Defo, not pay to win. Microtransactions feel very minor and not really game impacting. The grind is the same for all regardless 👍

  3. hi-fi Rush alone is a must-play. That was one of my top three games from 2023. It's a great game with, an awesome soundtrack, and wicked gameplay. Grounded had a unique premise, ad try as I might, I just can't get into the whole survival genre. Give it a few, and they'll retract on not putting Starfiled multi-platform.

  5. So, after playing the BETA over the weekend, I can honestly say I had so much fun playing this. The starting section seemed to drag a bit and was almost turning me off the experience until I youtubed how to collect fucking wood 😂 Once you get your own bigger ship, that's when the fun starts. I can only imagine how fun playing with friends will be. An FG Friday with a bunch of us scallywags ruling the high seas could be glorious. Did anyone else play? Also, does anyone else think they're going to pay the hefty price tag for the console version?

  6. Anyone still involved in this? In the last week or so, viewership has dropped below Diablo 2 and 3 to between 400-1300, plus several popular Diablo-focused content creators have not only stopped playing this game, but have also seemingly departed the series. Haven't been following much since post-launch but it seems things have gone from bad to worse and Blizzard has been making some rather bizarre and unworkable design choices. I was looking to jump into the game at some stage but it does seem in a really bad place right now and I'm not sure if they will be able to turn it around.

  7. If this happens then it’ll be the final nail in the coffin for Microsoft surely in competition terms? It would destroy the entire point of owning an Xbox and the game pass on its own is just not sustainable or attractive enough plus the machines are technically inferior. The fact this has even been considered is just insane and it will kill any future credibility they have with ‘exclusives’. They were already desperate enough as it is with such few options. Makes you wonder if they will abandon consoles in the future and just do streaming as previously suggested. This situation is very similar to the Sega saga. The Bethesda acquisition has been a disaster so far and the Activision takeover isn’t going to change anything other than where the profits are diverted. Microsoft are incredibly boxed in right now and running out of options. I had heard that as well but I don't really understand where that has come from. There are sort of like 2 battle passes, 1 which is free and earned in game, the other is paid for (but you do earn the currency through general play and the free battle pass). The guns on the paid for option have been compared with those you get on the free and everything is fairly well balanced.

  10. Xbox games have always been available on PC, I think it's pretty scummy Sony don't do the same. I think the future will be cloud gaming and I don't buy the no competition for Sony argument, its all about publishing games now, that's where the competition resides imo

  12. Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded are coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch! Definitely seems like these 4 games are the ‘trial’ run, I’m sure we will see more Xbox exclusives on PS5 shortly after these 4! Microsoft has also confirmed they will still be releasing future Xbox consoles. If you don’t own an Xbox, I would definitely recommend Hi-Fi rush, a fantastic game! I quite like the look of this and may grab it sometime. Had some early woes and the microtransaction controversy but seems to have come through with solid and enjoyable gameplay.

  14. This came out of nowhere! Coming to all systems including the Switch next February. Wont be an easy game to modernise but for £25 it could be a great package that offers 30+ hours of gameplay.

  15. Yeah it definitely looks more authentic than I was expecting and doesn't drift away from the originals too much visually or mechanically. I definitely may grab it when I get a chance.

  16. I would definitely recommend using the d pad as using the toggle as you'll find you will place both thumbs on the toggles. I can't see any change really in a change of the camera angles.
    1 point
  17. Its definitely looking like they've done the right thing of leaving it as it is with just upscaled graphics in parts. Surely the D-Pad is the best way to play the game still given the fact that most ledges to jump up and puzzles require you to be more on the correct right angle?

  18. The control's are horrendous but you can change them but will take some getting use to or should I say remember them. One aspect I do like pressing the options button switches between the remaster and old style graphics. It's quite odd seeing Lara with a more round bust rather than triangles 😂

Loves the first game. This is infinitely better. A proper horde mode esque game with some tactics built into the higher level difficulties. Air support feeling is amazing when it hits the enemies, also pretty funny when it's a bit too much danger close and wipes out your entire squad!! Difficulties make a massive difference too. Nice and casual at lower levels and properly intense at the higher end. A question of picking your poison relating to what you want to get out of it. Best game I've played in ages and is most defo going to get me back online!!

  23. First season was dope, and then they royally fucked it.

  24. You can switch between the new and classic graphics so hopefully the latter will have modern support for higher resolutions too. Looks more like AI upscaled than a proper remaster I must admit although I don't mind that they haven't drifted too far from the aesthetics and style. Not sure how the gameplay will hold up overall though

I enjoyed Splatoon 2 but never put too many hours into it! This game is definitely similar, however in Splatoon the modes tended to focus on which team can cover the map with the most ink, whereas here it is more focused on the typically death match and other objective modes. It’s 4v4 modes at the moment with a coop mode too!

  29. I have just checked this out, you can have a server of up to 20 players but smaller squads of 3 to take on objectives and quests.

  30. Had my reservations about this game due to the amount of delays. It's not what I was hoping deep down that it would be, but it's better than expected. Land movement annoyed me a bit the first maybe hour of playing, then I progressed far enough to where I could get a proper ship and some cannons and boy... This game is epic. Combat is actually challenging, progression actually feels like you've worked for it and properly earned the upgrades you get. I think on saturday I spent a good 10 hours playing the demo and 3 of those were me just working to get the best ship available in that demo. There's so much to explore, plunder to be had, upgrades to farm for and ways to earn silver and infamy that I have to admit, I fell in love with this game and by the time the beta ended last night I was pissed at myself for not having been on the ball earlier in the week to get the demo on the 8th to maximize my playtime 😅 Hell I only fucking found the black market 2 hours before servers went down on sunday I was that busy burning every port to the ground. The few things I didn't attempt was mainly the pvp events and also the sea monster event. I did try going after elite captains and also the ghost ships but it's near impossible while solo. (hint hint nudge nudge people, get on the ball!) Did have anamerican budy join me on sunday for a bit but he was hours and hours of progression behind me, it does seem like quests completed while in a group counts for everyone though, as he was completing his early quests I still got silver for them, not sure if I would have gotten infamy as well as I had already reached the max infamy rank available in the demo. Overall I have to admit I quite enjoyed the grind to get better ships, weapons and armor and finding combinations of these that worked for me. It's time consuming but this can be sped up in a group as you can send your friends materials, guns, blueprints and all kinds of things. So if anyone is ahead of the pack you could help out others that find the grind tedious or simply can't get the required items to progress due to enemies being too hard for them to fight. As for how many can play together I've seen both 3 and 5 mentioned and the menu in the demo looked like it had room for more than 3, so I'm not 100% sure. But, I'm willing to bet you can get more of your friends on the same server and then split into several smaller groups but still take on elite captains, ghost ships, sea monsters and bounties all together as any player ship can do this without being in the same group as you. Pvp also seems to be off unless you go for the pvp events so sorry @Diddums you wont be able to ram everyone to try and sink them if you end up playing this 🤣 Honestly very excited for the full release, I've seen their planned roadmap as well and there seems to be quite a bit of content they intend to add in so I can see myself spending many an hour on the open sea plunderin' fer booty! Yo, ho, haul together Hoist the colors high Heave ho, thieves and beggars Never shall we die

On the ever growing list too, mainly because its free. I have Splatoon on my Switch and I couldn't massively get into that and it does look extremely similar. How many players can play together on it @WelchyTV?

I won't lie, I haven't even touched this. I just have too much to play so when games come out on PS Plus they just get added to the library for tomorrow.... Then tomorrow often doesn't arrive unless reviews crop up like it's the next Palworld or Rocket league etc.

  34. Hmmm apparently max party size is 3. Unless you can still join same lobby, FG Friday is out

  35. Unfortunately I did not get round to playing it, I ended up trying the new FFVII demo which has got me all excited for it now. That said I have seen various tik tok video's and a review or 2 and it sounds like the game has gone down quite well, the stumbling block for most people though will be the price tag as I think to buy through the store it's like £70 I think? Just looking about online you can get a physical copy for £53 if you know where to look so that's not so bad! That said I am going to be paying £60 for FF at the end of this month and I quite want to get Helldivers 2 as well so justifying a 3rd game at a time when I'm trying to clear some credit card debt may not be feasable. How many can you have in a party / lobby?

  37. I have to agree I think it’ll be a bad thing if Microsoft go the streaming way only and stop making consoles. Sony always have that motivation/challenge from Microsoft to keep developing the best console and games and if no one is challenging them, then the quality could go down.

    Xbox Exclusives To PS5?

Whilst I agree that it’ll be good for PS5 owners, I think it’s important to consider that IF Microsoft/Xbox do pull out of the console hardware market, then who challenges PlayStation? What’s stopping Sony from charging £700 for the PS6? Nintendo aren’t really trying to compete at the high end powerful console level, so it would just be PlayStation. Xbox are in a really difficult position, by focusing so much on Game Pass they have cornered themselves into this position. Particularly with a lot of their most popular franchises being multiplayer (Gears, Halo, now COD), these games benefit from having a large player base … best way to get that is to have them on all consoles. We need to see what Xbox say about these rumours next week, but right now I am worried for the future of the video games market if this is all true.
    1 point
  39. Not really surprising, couple the poor console sales with the fact I think they view gaming going to a more streaming based service I would be surprised if we see more than maybe 1 more physical xbox generation and everything going cloud based in the next generation or so for Xbox. The only way this works for Microsoft is to make it so that their content reaches the biggest audience that it can. The other plus for us as PS5 owners is that it may potentially mean Fallout, Elder scrolls etc won't be locked behind Microsoft devices (though with the next releases they may be timed releases).

  43. I think a lot of it was timing, it came out and the game is half decent and enjoyable but since then the likes of Starfield and Baldurs gate have been released. To keep the player count high while competing with arguably 2 of the biggest releases of the year is a tough ask.

  44. For it's time, it was a fantastic game. I loved it. But go back now and try that control scheme and janky movement. No thanks 😅

  45. As I like the remaster of the first tomb raider on the ps3 I'll most likely pick this up but main reason is the remaster of the second game which In my eyes was the best out of the franchise.
    1 point
  46. If its priced at the right amount, which should be £20-25 then people will buy it to experience that feeling again due to not having that console of choice any longer. If you've played it before then I'd agree on getting the cash - you would give it away for next to nothing for original owners if you could. Whilst gameplay might, there are some old games, like this one, that has some unique challenges that people who didn't play Tomb Raider back in the day could find fun to play. Especially ones that can't afford full priced games. Still think you're right on the other part though lol. The old Tomb Raider games will still sit in my fun zone so I won't be dissing the gameplay on it.

  47. This isn't going to be modernised, it's being remastered so everythings going to be the same just look a little less pixelated I reckon. I feel like PS1 era games are where some studios are going to come unstuck with all these remasters, the original 3d graphics are very blocky and not particularly pleasant to look at in most instances and this is definately going to be one of those games that really falls down. You can get away with remastering 2d titles and anything from the 360 / PS3 era but I don't see it working with most PS1 titles. I wonder if this is one of those projects that Square started as it seems like their sort of thing to do at the moment and Crystal Dynamics have decided to complete the project, it really does smack of a cash grab though.
    1 point
  48. Pointless cash grab bullshit, the gameplay is more outdated than the graphics.
