My god, playing this at @GazzaGarratt house the other day was shite 😄 But shite in a funny way! We had a bit of a laugh with it. I had not played any of my retro stuff for a while and this has reinvigorated me a little. I really enjoyed just how simple it was, there wern't a lot of mechanics in it if you compare to modern day EA FC and you could literally just jump into playing a tournament within moments which was great.2 points

Black Ops 6

Just hit level 25, I'm actually finding it ok, it's more of the same, movement is fine the maps are meh all the usual crack heads running round you should know now what your going to get from a modern cod. Im not a fan of headshots for camos mwlll did it way better and certainly more interestingly but it is what it is. Modern map design for me personally sucks, but most of these maps are thankfully small enough to enjoy unless you like being shit in the back. Did play some zombies always pick squad as I've no idea what to do and didnt mind it as a change.2 points -
Upcoming games! How do you feel about the future of gaming?
Lurch and one other reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
I think the gaming scene is more turning into what we as consumers can do with existing titles to be creative with them. In an era of gorging content seems to be the socially acceptable thing to do, when its the exact opposite of how game developers want you to play it, I think its the only way forward. That, and a lot more indie B or C titles because no one is patient enough to wait 7 years for a video game to be developed these days. That being said, i'm looking forward to the Winter as I think there are enough MP games for us to be able to have fun gaming nights across a ton of games. Some underrated ones have been out for a while and are worth playthroughs with friends. Baldurs Gate 3, Sea of Thieves, Space Marine 2 to name a few. Even Helldivers 2 which has largely dropped off the larger playerbase is a solid game that has lots of game nights where many here would really enjoy. Spreading yourself across a few titles will also remove that silly feeling of needing to complete a whole game in 12 minutes. I'm really enjoying pacing myself through the new Astrobot game as its not a huge game so I want to enjoy the content whenever I put it on. Glass half-full. Especially with FGers is my summary.2 points -
England International Football

This is the game. Its hilarious to see it now, but you know, it was so nice to go back and play this without all the drama of ridiculous unneeded skills and crap like FIFA scripts and momentum that can spoil your games. Scoring was hard as nails and funnily enough more own goals were scored in the end it felt from corners! I couldn't remember the ways to score like I used to so it was a decent little tournament and hope to do more. Maybe I can get some clips next time to post. Menus and UI was really good too btw. Clean and simplistic to get through. Like Matt said, none of this rubbish where stuff is hidden everywhere.2 points -
I know there aren't many of us that do it but I do like collecting my physical games and yesterday in game the missus agreed to buy me a game I found in the clearance section. So said game was Zelda tears of the kingdom and it had been placed in this area as it was the collector's edition and the box was a little damaged. Bizarrely we bought it for only £41, the price for this second hand in cex is still £40 so straight away we are fine, but then I am getting a few collector's items too ironically enough I think I could take this to cex now and sell it to them for more than we bought it for. So yeah, a game I wanted anyway but had held off and knowing what happens with Nintendo games and how their prices depreciate it's likely that it will never be worth as little as we paid for it. So yeah just seeing what gaming bargains people here have had in the past?2 points

D&D Night!
jordie1892 and one other reacted to Lurch for an event
Fantastic write-up Jordie, thank you! It was great to see the party working as a team (apart from Cal’s antics 😂) and being more inquisitive. And the addition of Azum (Zoom as ARN would say) has been a breath of fresh air too, something different and interesting brought to the table, as well as the slightly less recent addition Matty leading the party. Overall I had a really enjoyable night. Thank you Elliott as always, I look forward to the next one!2 points -
D&D Night!
GazzaGarratt and one other reacted to jordie1892 for an event
I'll leave my notes here, have probably missed something... Arn the Bear was saved by Matt with a Spare the Dying spell. The Party headed back to The Swan in Slema, where people were surprised to see them. They learned Baum and Lavender teleported to the swan, stayed for a few days and then left. The party met Azum, who informed the group that Baum is a wannabe sorcerer who has zero magical powers. He collects magical artifacts to gain power. He has collected at least 3 artifacts including the Dragon Heart and Giants Spine, by tricking groups into helping him retrieve the artifacts, then betraying them with a Stop spell. The next artifact Baum is going for is from a Drider, which will give him the Darkness spell, as well as levitate. A gnome called Ceryni from the thieves guild beckoned us over. He gave us information and direction son how to get to the Drider. As part of the agreement, the group each promised a 3%share of their treasure. As Azum had no treasure to offer, he instead fought a man who owed money to Cervni. Cervni gave us the following advice: It's dark, so dark vision is very useful Everything is trying to kill you and eat you If you see drow you are already dead. Just run. It goes deep, chances of finding a way out are slim. Leave a trail After shopping for some essentials, we headed to the Underdark. We were given the instructions: Walk for 1 day, go right at the fork, walk for another day, go right at fork, walk for one more day, go left, circle the city of Menzobaronzon and find the dryders We entered the Underdark, holding a rope as to not get separated, then left a trail until we came across a cavern. This was about half a days walk. In the cavern we ended up fighting a giant crab. The fight generally went very well, and we did a lot of quick damage to the crab, however a huge thunderwave spell from Cal did huge amounts of damage to the party, particularly Azum, who got sent flying and left with only 3 hp.2 points -

PS5 Accessories
GazzaGarratt reacted to Luseth for a topic
So just a thread really about a few of the controllers I have and to provide some general conversation around the various PS5 accessories, do you have any and do they get frequent use? So I have had a couple of different PS5 controllers now, a second hand Dualsense Edge controller and yesterday an impulse purchase of the Nacon Revolution Pro 5 which has prompted this post. The Edge is a definite improvement over the original controller, it feel's nicer to hold, the rubber grip and just feels better made, a more premium feel if you like. I don't however use the back buttons much really but it is just a nicer controller to use. However we popped into game yesterday and picked up 2 items from their clearance area, the first being a christmas present from the wife that she has now put away (another thread to come) and the Nacon Revolution pro 5. I have been after a new controller as the rubber grip is coming away from the controller which is irritating me and I don't know why but stuff like that grinds my gears unnecassarily (so tips to repair it would be appreciated!) I saw this controller and it was half price so £100 as opposed to £200 and I thought it was worth a shot at that price. Turns out this controller is brilliant! I opened the box and the first, strange thing to happen was upon opening it, there have obviously been lengths taken to make the box opening a little different. It was perfumed in some way and opening it, it actually smelt nice which was a bit odd. The controller itself is great, it feels really great in the hands and there are a number of weights that you can swap in if you want a heavier or lighter feel to the default. The controller comes in a pretty strong case with a USB-C cable, USB dongle, several weights, 2 additional thumbsticks (one higher and one a different style), and an alternative D pad button. The controller itself has quite a number of back buttons (more so than the edge), it has the xbox layout with the thumbsticks which I have always found a little more comfortable and the default thumb sticks are reminiscent of the PS2 controllers which is quite nice. Oh and it also has what is known as hall effect thumbsticks which are meant to somewhat eliminate stick drift which is common today with modern controllers. The other thing is how responsive this is, it really feels instant when gaming, like moreso than the 1st party controllers which is strange. It may just be in my head but it really does feel more responsive. So yeah if you are looking for a new controller and can afford it I would recommend this one from my limited experience so far 🙂1 point -
Black Ops 6
GazzaGarratt reacted to IRaMPaGe for a topic
I played it for a bit on Friday night. Only got to rank 13 or something , so playtime has been limited. Movement is decent, gunplay is fine. Very good hit detection. Not seen or hearing a lot of bugs (which is unusual for a cod at launch). Weapon leveling and progression is well balanced imo. Not too stingy or generous. Old school prestige system, love it! The maps seem alright, I don't hate any of them yet. Quite a few seem small/medium, which doesn't bother me. Best play is back. Perks are fine. Don't really have a bad word to say about it. Only gripe is that stupid top3 winners circle thing at the end of matches. I think Treyarch have done a good job here. Until I play more and find annoyances etc, I think there is nothing wrong with it. The connection has been totally fine as well.1 point -
Upcoming games! How do you feel about the future of gaming?
GazzaGarratt reacted to Luseth for a topic
So the past few day's I have realised I have for the better part of the past year missed out a lot on the games that I typically have enjoyed the most in the past and really what got me into gaming and that's my JRPG's. Generally the gaming market feel's stale at the moment and when it comes to triple A titles very few of them excite me. However I spent some time yesterday looking at the sorts of games I historically have enjoyed, more akin to Final Fantasys and I have realised there has been and is continuing to be a bit of a boom with regards to the quantity and quality of what is being produced and this has completely passed me by. So typically I don't pre-order many games but I wanted things booked in for the rest of the year so to speak and have pre-ordered 3 games, the first being Dragon Age where I have loved each game but the other 2 (ordered for the Switch) are JRPG's, games that don't typically use the same extreme sized budgets that we see with Western Triple A titles and upon looking at them there are probably another 2 or 3 I could have ordered (though money does not allow currently) as well as a promising looking year next year. So all of a sudden things are looking less stagnant for me and I am also now aware of a whole bunch of games that passed me by. However it also got me thinking that if your a big fan of our Western style of games then the landscape is looking a little bleak and barren for a while it seem's, so just getting your thoughts? Are you expecting to be playing COD for the next year? Are you anticipating you will still mostly be playing games from yesteryear all next year?1 point -
I’ve been fully digital since around 2019, so haven’t had a physical bargain in a while and can’t recall any major ones off the top of my head! The odd bargain from the PS store sales but not worth writing about!1 point

Black Ops 6
IRaMPaGe reacted to phil bottle for a topic
I've played a bit on Xbox as well, feels so weird using an Xbox controller for COD again. Played the campaign, it's decent so far but only done three chapters. Played a round of Zombies solo and got confused right at the end as I thought you just extract but it generates a helicopter exfil. I've not played multiplayer yet but I hear it's pretty hectic with a low ttk?1 point -
First thoughts are actually decent and I have been in a few good lobbies however it is already seemingly apparent there are some 'dodgy' players on pc and doing a quick google online this morning apparently cheats have come online very quick and is probably the only downside of playing on a computer over Playstation. That said the gameplay is decent and I don't mind the movement. I suspect I will play this a little but with the number of games I have on the go it may be reservered for a bit of Zombies with some friends and private matches with you lot. The guns are somewhat lacking, there are very few and It feels like I don't really need to move from the first gun (XM4) but we will see, I have just pulled the trigger and bought the playstation version now so will jump on in the week with you guys I am sure.1 point

Upcoming games! How do you feel about the future of gaming?
GazzaGarratt reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
I'm not really hyped for anything and I'll just take each half-decent release as it comes. Only GTA 6 truly stands out as a potential generation-defining title and whilst there is a few other ones that should be received well, there's nothing really ground-breaking. We are 4 years into this generation and there's not been much at all worth talking about - most of it has been negatives surrounding pricing, unfinished games, disappointing releases and a lack of any ambition. I really hope we see some top releases like we did towards the end of the PS4 era but right now, I am more happy about playing classics. Right now, Japan are the only ones delivering.1 point -
Upcoming games! How do you feel about the future of gaming?

Personally, I would say the next 12/18 months is looking pretty exciting! For me I’m looking forward to playing the following (roughly in order of release): - Black Ops 6 (game pass) - Fear the Spotlight - Stalker 2 (game pass) - Indiana Jones (game pass) - Marvel Rivals - Assassins Creed Shadows - Avowed (game pass) - Ghost of Yotei - Fable (game pass) - GTA 6 - Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra - South of Midnight (Game Pass) - Splitgate 2 These are just the ones we know about, I’m sure there will be some good surprises too (who would have guessed Helldivers 2 would have been that good!) I’m sure the games I listed won’t all be as good as I’m hoping, but I’m definitely excited for them and there’s nothing wrong with that!1 point
