  1. I still remember the day when PC games made the transition to DVD cases. I was so used of having a big box with fat manuals and suddenly games were releasing in a plastic box with barely a few bits of paper inside. I think Max Payne was the first game I bought like this. Deux Ex was probably the last big box edition I got. The industry got so lazy, even the Gamecube mini-discs came in some full-on DVD case too!

  2. Me too tbh! I think its more about how creative they can be with physical items moving forward - could even see the reintroduction of the cardboard SNES and N64 boxes perhaps?

Thread bump and something different from me. I’ve been doing some sketching recently and fancied getting back in to more traditional media so broke out the alcohol markers for the first time in at least 15 years (God! I feel old now 😞) A few issues and problems with the drawing both in colour, lighting and technique but nice to have something real for a change than pixels on a screen.

  4. Anyone still involved in this? In the last week or so, viewership has dropped below Diablo 2 and 3 to between 400-1300, plus several popular Diablo-focused content creators have not only stopped playing this game, but have also seemingly departed the series. Haven't been following much since post-launch but it seems things have gone from bad to worse and Blizzard has been making some rather bizarre and unworkable design choices. I was looking to jump into the game at some stage but it does seem in a really bad place right now and I'm not sure if they will be able to turn it around.

I've ordered the PS5 / FC24 bundle as I got a discount. It should arrive on Friday, If anybody wants the FC24 PS5 download code cheap, message me

  6. I think a lot of it was timing, it came out and the game is half decent and enjoyable but since then the likes of Starfield and Baldurs gate have been released. To keep the player count high while competing with arguably 2 of the biggest releases of the year is a tough ask.

This could be another one that would bring some FG Friday chuckles. Cross-platform, currently free on GP, and not that expensive on steam. Kind of like Gang Beasts, but with animals.

I've always liked the game just for the characters alone, they did a good job with that. Plus, driving around listening to certain songs at night in the rain in a very good looking game environment means I have never once fast travelled. I'm glad they've improved it though.

  13. I think Sony will try and retain physical for a long as possible until the developers themselves deem it non-viable. It depends on the production costs and margins with wholesale retail in relation to the PS Store cut Sony take plus general demand. Not many retailers left on the high street now and those don't want to buy into dead stock. To be honest, games are mostly so shit these days, there's not many worth getting a physical for anyway and even then, the disc is worthless by virtue of a game needing a mandatory update to execute. I think the PS3/360 was the last worthwhile generation for collectibles and with Microsoft trying to kill off physical for the past 9 years and Playstation only having a few tangible exclusives worth picking up physically, it's basically curtains.

I did suggest an xbox series S to him last night but he didn't sound keen. It would allow him to still jump on for fifa with us (I tried it with another friend the other day that was on xbox and it worked pretty well) and you can pick them up as cheap as £150 these days second hand 🙂

You'll only be able to play with current gen (PS5) users. However I believe it's only Martin who will be without a PS5 by the time we start playing FC24. I wonder if we could do anything with the FGFGF to get Martin involved still @GazzaGarratt?

  16. Yeah I am a fan of collecting my retro games and such but I'd be fine if we stopped producing them now, we have learnt enough in recent years to call it a day on physical games. That said I think my only gripe with going all digital is the lack of storefronts for a console and it would probably lead me to just gaming on pc only going forwards as at least there are some options. Sony having such a big market share already and then being able to put on whatever percentage they like on top does not sit well with me and is something I could see happening down the road because they have shown time and time again that it is a company that can get complacent, can get a little bit greedy.

  17. Less plastic in the world is fine by me. Funny though how the reduction in manufacturing cost never gets passed back to the consumer.

Great! If Clubs is cross play this year then, I might join when I've bought it. Although depends what console everyone is going with, as don't think I can play with PS4 users.

I started a new game and after a lot of indecision on what build to use, I decided to go with a sharp shooting netrunner. So pistols, revolvers and snipers plus just hacking everything. And I've just got a monowire for backup. So far I'm having great fun. Hack cameras, blow up all of the explosives after distracting enemies, reboot the optics of any remaining enemies and then blow their heads off. I'm still fairly low level so I'm not too good at hacking people yet.

    The Division 3

Massive announced a new director for the, I guess now confirmed, Division 3 once his work on the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws is finished. Not much else was revealed, other than the division 2 will still be supported and all that blah-dee-blah. Ubisoft Announces Tom Clancy's The Division 3, Appoints New Series Producer WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM Star Wars Outlaws creative director Julian Gerighty will serve as The Division brand's executive producer moving forward.

Yep, this is good to hear. I actually completed D1 & D2 on console as well as PC. The story was shite but the gameplay and setting were top notch. Very immersive. I might actually reinstall D2 now I'm thinking about it lol

    Phantom Liberty

Had to annoyingly re-choose all my perks again in a completely different system. I only had 47 lol Not sure I like the new perk system but I'll spend some time playing around with it before I reach any firm opinion. There's lots of other changes but I'm in the middle of a big mission so I'll have to wait and see before I feedback. Optimisation is weird. If I set my settings to allow max frames it tops out around 54 fps and it uses all my gpu and cpu. If I cap it at 60 frames I get 59 fps with only about 30% of gpu and cpu being used. Lame 😭😅

    The Division 3

Finally Ubisoft use their brains! The first two games had their disappointments but were both very impressive titles especially in terms of scale and attention to detail. I couldn't believe it when they decided to go the F2P route with Heartlands and have a mobile version. Thankfully if they are doing a new mainline game then that's all that matters.

    Phantom Liberty

Had a brief go at the 2.0 update having not played since 2020 and the game is massively refined since then with a host of improvements. The general UI seems much cleaner too which was crucial, but the really irritating phone bloat is still there and I still utterly loathe some of the sound effects which seem ingrained into the base game. Haven't tested out the police system yet though. I'll give it a few hours more and the make a decision on whether to continue and possibly get the expansion on top. Game looks and runs absolutely amazing

I like the game and get immersed quite easily. It will be nice to see the improvements, if they work lol Personally I would like them to optimise the game better for all types of GPU... but I won't hold my breath. For this reason alone (because they could if they gave a shit) I'm not likely to purchase the DLC until its dirt cheap, or free 🖖

    Phantom Liberty

Phantom Liberty has been getting some good reviews today. CDPR once again are preventing the media from releasing their own footage but it seems to be a better experience which is further bolstered with the 2.0 patch. It's frustrating that we can't actually see it in raw action but at least users will be given the chance to play the new version before deciding on whether to invest in the expansion. I'm kinda in two minds minds as to whether I should even re-install it just to try but I may give it a go and it could even see me buy into the DLC if the game is radically improved. A part of me simply can't be arsed though!

Yeah, it didn't hold my interest for long. I suppose that also has much to do with BG3, Sea of Stars, and Starfield. It felt very basic. Maybe I'll get back to it at some point, but if not, oh well.
