  1. It's a massive problem in that game, when properly sound whoring I can hear people from miles away and the direction they're in. Fucking ace when you want to be a little bitch tho.

  2. The thing is I, and others, would like to go back to the OG MW2 style. Dead silence was a perk but there was a counter perk that made footsteps louder. So those running dead silence would be as loud as normal, while people not running it would be even louder. They quieter and louder footsteps were both perk 3. Which ties in nicely to my earier post. It allowed you to pick how you wanted to play and how you wanted to be stronger (quiet footsteps) vs how it would make you weaker (hearing other less easily). As for the footsteps on the beta, I think they’re louder than MW2019. However my time on the beta was mostly solo whereas almost all my time on MW2019 was in a party.

  4. tbh the footsteps are loud enough on MW2019 that you can still hear them while having a poo.

  5. Another thing about the footsteps in the MW2 beta is that they are very loud on a map which is a good test environment; the hotel one basically. This combines interiors with some wood or carpet flooring, stairs and upper levels. Some people are saying they aren't an issue when playing the farm or market map and this is probably the case, but only by virtue of the amount of exterior and quieter surfaces. The more indoor maps they have in the final game with upper areas or non-concrete surfaces, the bigger this problem will be. Personally I didn't have many issues with footsteps when I played but that was only because I played on the hotel map about 3 times but if you have 4-5 maps with this problem then it will turn into something more significant. This has already caused huge problems in Warzone 1 where you could literally hear people on the top floor whilst the other side of a 10 storey building for instance. There are also very smart players who can literally configure their headphones to only pick up on certain elements or enhance others so if they want to soundwhore to the maximum potential then they will to a devastating degree. The dead silence perk is very OP but a staple of the series and it could've been blended in a tier where users could have chosen that or the ability for their gunfire to not show on the minimap - either perk representing an advanced ghost-type one in a competitive slot but instead they've protected people loud with their guns and punished those that move around the map with their feet!

  6. @GazzaGarratt MW19 footsteps are the loudest of any COD without question. The MW2 beta footsteps are the 2nd place. All the older Cods, Cold War and Vanguard have the counters in perk form for the footsteps. I understand full blown tactical sprinting should be louder. Also the variation of different surfaces should change the volume. E.G running up or down metal stairs or the likes. I don't find the MW2 Beta footsteps unbearable, but there is advantages with good headphones and bass boost turned on. Veterans can pinpoint directions and abuse it. Another point I would like to make is campers triumph with louder footsteps. It's very hard to counter or sneak up on them if they are in a corner and they can hear you in advance before you reach them and they can ADS and prepare or turn round to catch you coming. It's more magnified in game modes like SnD when it's a 1 life deal and every decision is crucial. I would rather get destroyed by someone rushing with great gun skill and silent footsteps, than some dweeb in a dark corner that heard me long before I arrive to their dwelling. All and all there should be a balance and the option to track enemies audibally and visually, but not too over the top. If everyone has quiet footsteps and you get decimated, you weren't aware of your surroundings visually and that's on you. Unless by exception there is a heavy spawn trap in place. Now if a perk like ninja exists it will be used excessively. If none such thing exists, dead silence as a field upgrade will be used by most and then all the other field upgrades will not be looked at or utilised in any way.

  7. You need to get your hearing tested if you didn't hear it. You can literally track people's movement with footsteps.

Though it is hard to claim your listening to your fans when doing the opposite of what most people want.

  10. Sledgehammer did that under Condrey and Schofield with WW2 but they did it in a bait and switch form where they patched the beta to everyone's wishes but then in the final release they reverted all the changes and then told the community to basically screw themselves after we all paid up. Thank god both those dictator pricks got moved on and out the company after that saga and the game improved massively once feedback was acted upon by the remaining employees at the studio but it was just too late in the day to salvage the game. The studio then got pulled apart prior to Vanguard's development - that would have been a great game otherwise but it was instead left to a bunch of people who believes there are 650 genders. Trouble is with Infinity Ward is half the studio is legends and very talented developers and the rest is soy drinking numpties who design the game for themselves and then get deeply offended when the people they are supposed to be making the game for criticise or question their decisions which they can never seem to justify. This beta is nothing more than a waste of time really but it may have saved my £60 so I'm grateful. Victoria 3 and God of War Ragnarok is where it's at this year I reckon.

  12. Typical of IW to refuse to change things the community is unhappy with. They're the only dev team out of the 3 COD teams that do that. The mini map doesn't actually bother me. But refusing to put DS or Ninja as a perk could bother me depending on what footstep audio is like after the changes.
    3 points
  13. Well it seems infinity wards latest post about changes to next weeks beta has gone down like a lead balloon, seems I'm blocked on twitter for some reason but it's on fb too. Most people seem to agree that they don't listen. The mini map part is particularly amusing. " We do not want to punish people for firing their weapons" 🤣

  14. One more thing on footsteps it's not like it hasn't been mentioned by everyone on every review I've watched so it is a big issue. Anyway this you could say is Nsfw And here's one on the perk system, I do like that if people have an issue they are giving suggestions

  16. Someone at work was saying allegedly that it was a 16 year old that was the hacker. Rockstar should of had a fit and said something like "We are deeply saddened due to leaked videos and images, we have decided to stop production of the game." Imagine how ballsy and wild that would sound. Would never happen tho, GTA 6 is the big cow with huge bulging udders screaming to be milked and heavily. Will be at least a decade of full blown milkage due course after it's release imo. 😁

  17. Yes @GazzaGarrattthey said they'd tone it down so I need to see what's in the full release. The footsteps audio is something I just don't like to hear not necessarily for the aid it gives you in game. Also as said it does have a counter or even put it in same perk slot as ghost or some other powerful perk and make people choose. Maybe also it wouldn't be as necessary of an issue if the maps weren't as " complex" not only can I be heard coming but I can be shot from a million different places I can't possibly check. It all slows the game down, which is fine if you want rainbow six cod siege. I get that your not allowed to criticize anything these days because you'll offend someone as it's seen as a micro aggression and if you are fine with the game that's ok they can't cater to everyone.

  18. When you've been playing MW2019 for many weeks now, I can tell you its not a problem and its definitely quieter for me. I'll let @Macca89 @LordBaguette @James @jordie1892 @Diddums @Greboth @IRaMPaGe share their thoughts if they feel different on it. And lets face it, isn't that a natural thing? To hear someone is getting closer so you can be aware of your surroundings and counter if possible? Don't hear it any different on Destiny 2 PvP, Overwatch PvP, or Fortinte PvP. You hear footsteps in all of those games - and probably even louder than MW2019 imo.
    2 points
  19. I just didn't hear it personally and I sound whore to hell on these games. Its definitely quieter than MW2019 and thats never a problem in that game. Sounds like they are changing it though, so you'll be happy 😄 "Footsteps Footstep audio in week one of the MP Beta was very high, giving players long distance directional information about enemies. For Weekend Two we have some changes coming in. We are reducing the range of footstep audio for the various player movement states (jog, sprint and tactical sprint). This will help soften the cost of moving around the map. The second change is that enemy and friendly footsteps are now distinct. This should help players better understand what's going on as things move around on the battlefield. More details to follow." We really have to get over the Dead Silence issue though. I mean, back in the day I see why we people are wedded to it as it would be soooo OP to have it. Games evolve and so do Gamers. For the better of any PvP game, you have to a level of sensory awareness and a random person running around a map on silent skates popping everyone in the head as you can't react to where they are coming from. Campers you can't ever get rid of as its a playstyle, but i'd rather take on them alone than deal with campers and then Dead Silence veterans running around silently killing you the entire game. Theres no defence to that at all.

  25. I mean that's how the perk system works in MW2 too, you choose what perks you get and you know how to get them. The specifics are different; time vs kills, the number of additional perks you get but generally speaking both are methods for players having base perks and additional perks which they get during a match. I do agree with you it's a flawed system though I think it could be balanced to work rather than just scrapping it entirely.
    2 points
  26. I saw you earn first one after 4 mins second after 8 but every 10 score reduces each by a second.

  27. It's nothing like specialist, at least with specialist I knew what I was getting and how. More kills and more perks and you could pick the order. With hardline you could get ghost after a kill. After 7 or 8 kills you get all the perks in the game and run about like some super soldier. Awesome imo. In this game the base perks, bonus perk and ultimate perk. How are these earned? It seems I earn them randomly even without kills or just staying alive longer. I personally think this "perk" system is the weakest point of the game. It's not just because I'm traditionally used to the usual system, it's the confusion and inconcientency of whatever this system we are being offered. It's a flawed system imo and deserves to be scrapped!
    2 points
  28. To be fair, as an idea I quite like the perk system. It kinda plays like the older CoD's where you earned more perks instead of killstreaks (I want to say it was called Specialist?). It's the balance of it I'm not so keen on - CoD to me has always been about making the choice of how you want to play and what compromises you want to make on your loadout. A great example that I keep changing between on MW2019 is Killchain where killstreaks count towards future streaks and EOD because of the grenade/RPG spam (especially in hardcore). It's the risk of being weaker against the chance of better rewards. But have an enemy team have a good start with UAV spam and your match is basically over as the enemy team know where you are the entire game with no chance of you "unlocking" ghost during the match. Thankfully I've only had a few matches totally snowball in to constant deaths due to UAV spam. However it still puts a massive advantage on the first team that gets a UAV because there's no counter until much later in the match.

  29. After playing a couple of hours worth I would say it's reasonably solid. Mostly positive on my behalf. I think it's better than MW19, Cold War and Vanguards beta's because it plays pretty smoothly, the gun play is decent and the maps are desirable. The colour pallette and vibrancy are miles ahead of MW19 in particular. The footsteps audio is better than MW19's, but could still be taken down just a smidge or give us Ninja as a perk. On to the perks which I'm not a fan of, I really don't like what they have done with them. As @Greboth had said previously if the enemy gets an early UAV you can't counter it. I have been having fun with spamming decoys and inflatable decoy field upgrade to try distract the enemy whilst their UAV is up. I don't like the interface and menus pregame and in general. Just feels a bit pointless and confusing, quite like the attachments unlocking and other various small annoyances. I do think this game has the potential to really shine and be enjoyed. I can't find much really wrong with it. It is very MW19 ish, but in a good way. The movement feels better than what MW19 was and like I said I don't find any of the maps offensive. Like @J4MES OX4D said a lot of it's success or failure will rely upon the launch content and post launch content as well.

It’s ludicrous to think 2 GPU generations ago I built a whole PC with a 2080 for less than these cost. Logically I can somewhat understand the price increases, there’s no getting away from the raw manufacturing costs have gone up 20%-30%. But the thought of spending that much 🤯 It’s a shame as I was considering a 40 series up grade but looks like I’ll be keeping my current card for a bit longer.

  32. Yeah I get what you mean it's definitely the closest thing to specialist. And it has a similar idea, but it's not quite the same to me. My earlier post I didn't mean to shoot down your valid point and it probably came across a bit snarky which I apologise for Greebs. To me tho there is the OG Specialist (which I was very fond of) and then what we have now. Maybe the lighthearted classic meme will describe how I feel about it. "Mum can we get specialist?" No! We have specialist at home. (MW2 rubbish perk system we have currently) 😐

  36. Yeah, reaction on Twitter from many people is just weird. Game probably won't be out for another 2 years anyway. Funnily enough I though what I did see of it (thanks @J4MES OX4D for sharing it all) was pretty decent. Very positive signs that we'll get something far better to work with.

  37. I'm done with the PS5 beta - no point in playing any more as I've seen all there is to see. Gonna give the PC one a go when it's available and then make a decision. I did seem to notice more campy spots today and in some parts of the maps, enemies are really difficult to spot. I've turned off a lot of the effects like film grain and motion blur but there's just so many particle and post-processing effects in play, it's quite jarring at times especially the bullet spread. Also the interface for the post-match report is incredibly cluttered and you can't see all your rewards or unlocks and also the challenge sidebar overlaps your team line up which is kinda silly because 66% of the screen is taken up by empty space or an area which could easily accommodate the small menu. Even minimised, it still sits nastily on the screen. The lack of feedback on how to unlock weapons does not sit well and I hope they ditch this whole tech tree nonsense altogether - having to level up AR's to get an unrelated SMG is a bit daft really. I did have some good games and entertaining matches but I can't really say if I was having much fun overall. I do like how they've added an FOV slider and many other graphical options but I'm looking forward trying this with a mouse and keyboard and higher framerates.

  39. They haven’t. This seems to be like MW2019. Most often it is final kill but occasionally you get POTG instead.
    1 point
  40. Played just over an hour earlier (really not sure how people manage to play 50 in these betas) and thought it was an okay game that plays itself very safe. Some of the changes are quite bizarre i.e the unclear unlock system plus the traditional perk format being reduced to two fixed is also weird. It’s nice that the mechanics are less friendly with slide cancelling nerfed and not being able to select 49 perks like in Treyarch games will make it more challenging and users more adventurous with their selections. Crouch walkers seem very hard to spot though if they are right at your feet. I quite liked the farm map but the hotel and market one were a bit average and nothing we haven’t seen before. Some nice detail and aesthetics but nothing exceptional. Killstreaks also didn’t grab me but I’m glad they’ve ditched the stupid POTG and replaced it with the final kill again. I’ll have another go tomorrow but I’m not majorly convinced about buying a game I stopped playing 3 years ago for another two more. It’s decent enough but maybe not £60 decent. Doesn’t quite have the wow factor the original MW2019 initially had because that was a big step up but this one does seem more refined and has less irritations. A lot will depend on the content available at launch - something MW sorely lacked.

  42. There's definitely some connection issues at the moment but hopefully that is just because of the reduced numbers on the beta. I really don't like the new perk system though, you choose 2 base perks which you have then you choose 2 additional perks; if you play well you get the first and then continue to play well you get the second. It doesn't sound too bad from the description except both cold blooded and ghost are in the additional perks. So if the enemy team has a good start to the match it's incredibly hard to pull back as you don't get enough points (or whatever the metric is) to get your additional perks so just die more to kill streaks and UAV spam. Thankfully it doesn't seem to happen too often but I have had a handful of matches that just end up a runaway game for the winning side. Another negative is Marksman rifles are shit! I want to love them because I'd rather be accurate and less shots than spray and pray but they're rubbish. They're one shot kill at close range but anything over, I'd guess 20 metres, is 2 shot and if you're going across map long shots even a head shot isn't a one shot kill. Assault rifles seem to have about the same damage drop off but the much higher fire rate makes them much easier or if you want the longer range, use a sniper then as they don't suffer the drop off. They're really the only big negatives in my opinion. It plays quite a lot like MW2019, which is good, and overall I'm quite enjoying it.

  43. The thing is I'm not actually a camper. I do move around but you just can't run around as much in this game. I'd love to be able to rush all the time but you can't so I'm just changing my play style.

  44. Its early days Gaz, you'll always get some views from either side that'll be way off. When you start out, I alwasy find I struggle until I work out map design, where people usually run into, good cover spots and finding the most common campers like @MrBiron so you can grab an easy kill 😎 I'll be looking to see if the Open Beta is available to download now, its got to be worth having a few tries on it - and we all know if we were joined up rather than solo you always get a better experience initially.

  45. *Boring 👍 I've watched a couple of Nero's videos as he gives a more balanced view than some but it just looks and sounds like the same old shit with the same stupid design decisions and some unnecessary changes that seem to be there just so they can say it's different. Simple stuff it shouldn't be difficult. Quieter footsteps/ dead silence perk Regular mini map Name bars above characters Proper leveling system Less aggressive sbmm and don't disband lobbies Map voting These Devs are deaf dumb and blind, I don't want to duck walk round a "great looking environment" I don't want to sit in a corner, I want to run around. I complain about all the shit in destiny PvP but it's fun mostly and definitely fast paced. I'd love to go back and play some cod because I used to love it but this shit once again isn't for me from what I've seen so far, if things change for the better somehow then maybe.

  46. I've played a few more games tonight. I'm definitely enjoying it more now I've got my eye in. I've found that running around like a headless chicken isn't the way to play. Using cover and being tactical* is the best way to play. *camping.
