    Thank you FG

Not going to go to in depth but my wife of 8 years which we've been together for almost 21 years has really screwed me over. What she's done is morally wrong to throw away 21 years two kids aged 15 and 18 we've so much history and been through so much all gone. Most of my friends locally have either passed moved away my family know what's happened and only a hand full check in on me and they're not even my immediate family. Which brings me to you guys the FG GT guys know what's happened I've spoken to a couple through different message formats but the support I've gotten is far more than people around me locally for that I thank you and to anyone that's in any party chat that doesn't even know what's happened. If it weren't for you guys and FG I wouldn't be feeling how I am now and most likely still in a mess. It's only been a month since I found out but all I care about is my kids getting a place once they house is sold next year which we've only had for 2 years. I promise I won't bore you lot with my troubles much in chats as i must sound like a broken record 😂 but again thank you guys it means the world to me the support I've had off you.

    Thank you FG

Hey fella first of all I'm sure others would agree you can bore us all in the chat all you want if it helps. Also some of us may have gone through something similar a d just sharing stories may also help (I've got some good ones 😉) one "good" thing I guess is the kids involved are older but good luck moving forward and hope you get settled and sorted out Asap.

    Thank you FG

I'm glad you've found a supportive community during this difficult time man. This place isn't like any other I've ever come across. It's the real deal. I hope you can come out on the other side of all of this in a better place. I'd definitely recommend going to see someone if you can. Therapy is invaluable.

  8. We might be busy doing bits and pieces (there is soooooo much to do 😅) but we try to ensure that a few people get recognised to give them a big smile along the way. We wouldn't have it any other way would we?? The FGFGF recently: As mentioned above, @Antpool84 has been a great addition to FG this year and whilst he's tried to get involved in many game nights, the storage has been holding him back for some time. Hopefully the 2TB external drive goes a little way to keeping his smile on his face. Huzzah! Equally, we never thanked @jordie1892 back in the day to help create and get the FIFA mini euro league up and running. To get over 40 matches done was immense considering we hadn't done anything like this before and as a gesture to one of the coolest FGers we have, some FIFA Points went his way so he can boss everyone on Ultimate Team in FIFA 22 😄 Finally, our resident Batman Chad @Riff Machine , has gone through a hell of a lot of late so it felt logical and common sense to perk him up with a few goodies below and some Steam vouchers so he can find something to enjoy on his PC. We're always here for you big man 👊 We have lots more to do, loads of ideas and thoughts to implement and we're nearing Christmas (a little too quickly, even for me), so where possible we should and must continue to make people smile with the FGFGF and keep donating when and where you can. Who knows....if I/we can find the time to muster something on similar lines to the Big Xmas Giveaways we've done in the past then we'll certainly give it our best shot to try. GGFG 🧡 P.S. Don't forget looking at out next big meet up next November and our potential first Charity team event in April/May (See Site Info Section for more!)

Damn, man. I can't imagine the pain, especially with kids in the picture. I don't have any magic words that can fix any of this, but sometimes just venting and getting things out can help you to process it and move forward. I'm glad to hear you're seeing a counselor. Too many people are too prideful to do that. Great job.

    Battlefield 2042 [BF6]

Some basic reviews are out. It seems improved and portal definitely looks interesting however still not sure it's an early purchase. Portal only definitely could be great for Fg Fridays

  11. Apparently from tomorrow there's a free trial on Xbox Gamepass, 10 hours worth. For PC too. I have the game preinstalled on Origin for the 19th but although I am tempted to jump the gun with this trial I think I'll still wait.

  12. Hey all, seeing as I’ve not played many games since Maddison was born it’s been hard to really contribute on here. So I’ve decided to do a post about money instead because I’m a shallow husk of a person and that’s all I can really talk about 😢 In all seriousness though, as we make our way out of what has been a really tough time for most people I felt like this might be a good time to offer some advice or at least my experience when it comes to securing financial freedom. There are so many ways to do this and I could go in for pages and pages but today I want to share what I’ve done for Maddison since her birth. I’m a fan of the low and slow investment method and I’ve been using a company called Wealth Simple for almost 5 years now. When Maddison was born I set her up a JISA for stocks and shares, Wealth Simple do the investing on my behalf. Essentially any money you put in goes into the big pot of everyone’s money and they invest it into a diversified portfolio for you based on a little questionnaire you take when you register about your level of risk. They manage the first £5k free and then it’s a 1% fee each year for any monies after that. The picture below is of Maddison’s account I started when she was born, I put in £500 to start, £50 each month and then £100 for Xmas and her birthday. You can see over the last 19 months her account has grown by 12.7%, which in simple terms is about a 9% return each year. You won’t find that in the bank. For some perspective if her account continues to grow at 9% and I continue to put in £50 a month her account will be worth £29,000 when she is 18. This is a speculative figure of course but imagine being able to hand over £30k to your kid at 18 to help them along their way. I have my own account too (as well as a lot of other investments on other platforms) but I use wealth simple for my pension fund as I don’t intend to touch it, it’s growing at 9.5% a year. If you are coming to the big FG meet up, why not use wealth simple to save up for it? £10 a month in there over 10 months and you could have £109 rather than just £100. Obviously with any investments there is risk but the longer you invest for the smoother the edges become and the better the returns. For reference I’ve been ‘investing’ in my long term plan for over a decade now (on Vanguard platform first, now wealth simple) and even the lows of the last recession and COVID haven’t stumped my growth. Here is my link to wealth simple, if you register with it we both get some more cash managed for free! Wealth Simple

  20. So, imagine my surprise while I'm in the kitchen, prepping to make a batch of blondies, annoyed that I am out of chocolate chips that are over 70% and have to settle for 55% because I don't feel like hand chopping the 80% chocolate blocks, and I see this topic pop up in my notifications (initially, I wondered if it was spam...) Since I'm waiting for my browned butter to cool before I make the blondies, I thought I would pop upstairs and form one of my sort-of-coherent posts. So, we want to talk about chocolate, eh? Just the general percent stuff and not the disgusting mass-produced stuff, right? (Although, I will admit, the only mass-produced chocolate I like is Lindt because they somehow kept their flavor, texture, and quality after being merged with Ghirardelli and the trash that is Russell Stovers) Let's get something straight (and I say this in the most friendly and not food snobby way possible), @GazzaGarratt and @Spacedeck ... White chocolate is not chocolate. It is the absence of chocolate. It is sugar, cocoa butter (which is a by-product from making all sort of other chocolate and cocoa things), milk stuff, and vanilla flavoring. You're basically saying you like vanilla lol. Which is something entirely different. And, if I were to make a vanilla ganache or vanilla anything else that involves something creamy, I would be reaching for "white chocolate". Percent-wise, I prefer anything between 70% and 85%. Below that is too sweet to just snack on. 55% is probably the lowest I would go and that would be used in different applications that require the sweetness to balance out whatever else I just put it in. Over 85% gets a bit too bitter and probably should be diluted in something/mixed into something else. For example, hot chocolate where you can add sugar accordingly. Chocolate, itself, has an interesting history in that the way that we generally know it now as a sweet... was not always the case. It was a spice. And various cultures use it as such like Mexico in their mole sauce. Chocolate being sweet was a result of Europeans taking the cacao back home and going "let's add some milk and sugar to it".. then chocolate as we know it was born. It's why Swiss and German chocolates are a thing, yet they don't have the climates to grow cacao. Now, if we want to get into the food snobberiness that I come very very close to, there's even single origin chocolates. And, I can tell you now that I love chocolate too much to actually write down which single-origin chocolates I like over the others. They all have different flavor notes. Some more fruity. Some more bitter. Some that have a tannin-like feel in the mouth. It really just depends on what I have bought and have on hand at the moment to enjoy, that I enjoy. As for what chocolate you will see me buying... it's going to be from an eco-friendly, fair trade company. Right now, I mostly buy Endangered Species chocolates because of what they do with their profits. I recognize that my love for chocolate and coffee can have a negative effect on the environment, and it fuels my anger towards the big producers, like Hershey's and Mars, because they produce shitty tasting chocolate and are destroying the world as they do it. Bottom-line. I like dark. And, I like it over 70% lol. And, it better be actually good quality. 😄
