My New Generation Console
Dan94 and one other reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
A few months in and I'm still waiting for the information about the internal hard drive situation. I don't see the AAA main PS5 titles getting any smaller of late and I think we need a solution soon. I'm sure i read about some patent for some extended storage somewhere but not even sure it is by Sony? Other than that, I'm starting to get accustomed to the loading times so much that it feels weird now waiting like we do on the original PS4 loading times.2 points -

Yup. We, @TurboR56Mini and I, have watched a bunch of it. I love watching Doug Marcaida just judge and annihilate blades... yes, because he's a Filipino, and if it's one thing we know, it's how to kill people with sharp objects if necessary. He's a Kali expert (the knife fighting part of Filipino Martial Arts). These are the types of reality TV I enjoy.. Things about skill. Not really drama lol. But, skill.2 points -
Gran Turismo 16 March

Race 1 - Round 3 of the Spring League Autodromo Lago Maggiore Gr3 10 laps Fuel usage x 4 Tyre wear x 6 Qualifying: Lee struggled to set a fast lap in practise and decided to change car right before qualifying which looked to be a bad choice as he managed to spin twice on his outlap. Lee wasn't alone though as Tom, Crispy and Paul also made a mistake to scrap their first flying laps. I cross the line with a new personal best to take provision pole though Kiwi manages a close second with his lap slowed down as he caught up with Phil. Tom manages to get his second lap together and gets himself up to 5th and later improving further to start 4th. Mike initially struggled with his qualifying as he spent too long trying to qualifying for a drifting championship but eventually keeps the car pointing straight to line up 3rd on the grid. Lee continues to struggle before exclaiming he'd like a lap under 2 minutes which he promptly manages as he gets to grips with the new car. Kiwi free from Phil, nails his lap and takes pole position which while I manage to closer I can't beat. Race; I get my start all wrong by getting too much wheel spin which gives the pack chance to close up and overtake on the run to turn 1 which causes me to misjudge my braking and I crash in to Tom who spins. In recovering, Tom gets back on the track and spins at turn 2 also. At the tricky turn 5, James keeps a tighter line and takes advantage of Lee and Crispy running wide to gain 2 places in one corner. Phil gets a better run exist out of turn 5 than me and makes his move up to 3rd at the chicane. This puts Phil on to Mikes tail for the long run down to the chicane where Phil jokes about not messing up his braking point which he then does but manages to avoid running in to Mike. Mike makes an easy switch back to hold on to second though it compromises his exit and giving me the chance of a pass up the hill to retake 2nd place. The nature of the track, the field had already become reasonable spread out by the end of lap 1 and this continues as Kiwi extends his lead out front. Lap 4 sees the start of pitstops with Clive and Paul pitting followed by myself at the end of lap 5 and Phil, Mike and Kiwi at the end of lap 6. The pit stops were pretty even so didn't do much to change the order though Phil was working too hard on his strategy plans made a mistake at his stop and didn't change tyres. Due to Phils faster stop it did bring him out in front of Mike however with Mike on fresher and grippier tyres soon made easy work of retaking 3rd place. Lee and Crispy also made a miscalculation in their strategy plans as they both forgot to calculate in the final lap causing them to be short causing them both to need a splash and dash stop on lap 8 and 9 respectively. On to the final lap, Clive is defending from Lee and spins at the turn 1 / 2 combo giving Lee the place. The race ended with Kiwi crossing the line for a dominate win which never looked in doubt and for this first win of the Spring season. Results; Race 2 ; Nurburgring Nordschleife 1 lap N200 There was no qualifying for this race as we used a reverse grid from the finishing positions of the first. There's not much of a report for this race as it's hard to keep track of where everyone is over a 16 mile lap and I don't know the track sooooo here's the results; Results; Race 3 Blue Moon Bay speedway Gr3 12 Laps Again, the grid for this race was decided as a reverse of the finishing order of race 2. However with an oval where drafting is so easy and so important, qualifying is less important. Race Lee makes a similar mistake to mine in the first race and gets too much wheel spin off the line and manages to spin and spear Paul as he tried to pass off the line. As the pack mostly remained close, there was plenty of rubbing and more than a few people getting a knock in to the outer wall. Mike managed to get passed me through the final corner and had a plan to bump draft Kiwi in an attempt to break away from the following pack though this was short lived as Mike decided to go for the pass rather than bump Kiwi. By lap 4, the field has spread out a little with the lead group consisting of Mike, Kiwi and myself with Phil and Crispy in a pack of 2 close behind with the rest spread out on their own. Over the next few laps there's a number of changes of position as we all draft passed and then re-pass each other with the end game being to be in the best position come the final lap. Mike makes a mistake though on lap 9 by running wide and hitting the outer wall too hard and getting a penalty but he manages to get rid of it so it's a 3 way fight for the lead going in to the final lap with Kiwi in first, Mike second and me in third covered by only 0.5 seconds. I draft up to Mike but hang back to try and get a run in to the final corner where the 3 of us take different lines but all try to occupy very similar parts of the track at the corner exit. Due to the natural line to run wide on corner exit, Kiwi's line takes him wide and across the nose of my car giving him a small wiggle but coming back across the track further contact is made with the front of my car causing him to spear in to the side of Mike slowing them both down and giving me the win. Ohhh.. How I wish we lived in the age of Star Trek holodecks! I would really never need to leave home ever again hahaha. But, this does look cool, and I would love to see it paired with a running platform: Part of my interest in fitness is that I want to be somewhat capable like how my favorite characters are. Granted, there are athletic feats that they do that are highly unrealistic, but I want to attempt to get somewhat in the range of it. Playing Horizon Zero Dawn re-piqued my interest in wall/rock climbing and learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. Various superhero shows keep my interest in combat martial arts active. Honestly, I probably wouldn't hate cardio so much if I was actually running away from something lol. It's probably the only time you will see me run. Or, unless it's on the soccer field and the person I'm going toe-to-toe with is something I highly dislike.1 point -
Microsoft looking to buy Sega and Konami?
J4MES OX4D reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
I really want Sega to remain in existence as they mean alot to me like most others hold Nintendo in their childhood. However I'm just unsure this is the way to go. I suppose it depends if Microsoft make them xbox exclusive, which you can imagine they will if they own them. I've always felt the market is in a great space to release a more retro console that creates games back on cartridges. They would make a killing because everyone knows they won't be able to make them on mass. I suppose the plastic environment policies might get in the way though.1 point -

Star Trek holodecks, that's what I'm waiting forπ But this does look cool and seems to be getting backed. It would definitely make exercise fun for people like me who find exercise really boring, e.g. I need to have after a ball to chase after if you ever want to see me running.1 point -

Anyone watch this? I manage to catch it now and then and it's a great show - basically contestants are tasked with creating common and legendary weapons from knives, swords, katanas to even scythes and these are then pitted off against each other in a form of strength and durability tests. You get to see how the weapons are crafted and how they would perform in certain situations. Well worth a look and here's a snippet from one of the episodes1 point -
RenFengge's 2021 Fitness PPR
GazzaGarratt reacted to RenFengge for a topic
3/20/2021 Workout Back Squat Workshop (last day) Find 1 rep max Thoughts: New PR --> 265lbs back squat (original all time PR was 260lbs. This cycle, I started at 225lbs 1 rep max) So, that was fun. I did not think I would get to 265lbs. I thought, "Let's just hit 235lbs." Why? Because i'm down 14lbs from the start of the workshop, and weight loss tends to affect strength gains... so I wanted to keep my expectations at a place where I wouldn't be so disappointed with myself. When I got to 235lbs and did it, Coach James said, "Let's throw on 15lbs plates. That looked too easy like you could jump squat it." I said, "You want a 30lb jump between sets? Are you trying to kill me?" He said, "It will make me feel better. You said your original PR was 260lbs. Let's see if we can set a new one." I said, "260lbs was like 5 years ago. This year is 225lb. And you want me to go to 265lbs for the next rep?" He said, "It's not a true 1 rep max until you fail." Mmkay. That was... challenging. I haven't sort of scream through a rep in a long time. But, it got done. Coach James wanted me to put on the 2.5lb plates next. I said, "Let's take the win at 265lbs. You and I both know that was difficult." Coach Liz said, "We should have video'ed that. It looked so bad ass with your colored hair." (Yes, I colored my hair red and blue this week in celebration of not needing to go back into the office until September) Now, we have 2 weeks off until the squat clean workshop. This is where I will need to do a lot of work. Squats are easy. Cleans... cleans are a different game. Also, in celebration of an all-time new PR, I bought some St. Joseph's cakes and split one with darling husband. I partially regret it.. But, it's something I have been looking for for years (because I had no clue what they were called until someone showed me a photo of them.. and I went, "That's what they are called??!! I have been trying to figure it out for YEARS!") Good times.1 point -

I think they'll win the Cup still so it will be a successful season because of that. I think 2 problems lie within Bale and Alli. Bale brings alot of baggage which i think can impact other players e.g. others feel aggrieved by his wages and potential show of non-effort, etc where as Alli looks like when it gets tough for him he can't be arsed. I also think Lloris is getting to a stage where he could be switched with another keeper although he still pulls off some worldie saves. Top 4? Hmm, might be difficult now but still wouldn't write them off. Just like Man Utd that everyone thinks are awful, sitting pretty in 2nd.1 point -
I knew I would eventually need to replace my Fitbit. So, I spent some time looking at a whole bunch of alternatives. Almost got the Whoop. But, there are aspects within Fitbit that kept me coming back. And, Whoop has a steep monthly membership. So, yesterday, being a touch more salty than normal, @TurboR56Mini asked me why. I said it was because I didn't sleep well out of fear of missing my gym class since the replacement Fitbit (originally his) broke. I use the alarm on the Fitbit to avoid waking Carl up at 4:30AM when I get up for the gym. He decided that enough of me procrastinating and also lack of proper alarm affecting my sleep, he just went and bought me a new Fitbit. I actually didn't want a smartwatch at all. But, this has a few more sensors that I would like to have, like the EKG and the O2.1 point

Had mine a little while now and still love it. It's so quiet compared to the jet engine that was my ps4, and hopefully with the extra cooling space it will stay that way for a decent while. I really enjoyed Astros Playroom and how it used the controller, felt like i was back on the wii at points lol. So far only have AC Valhalla as an actual PS5 game but the loading times are great, and completed God of War on it which looked great and played beautifully. I really want Spider-Man Miles Morales but really begrudge paying 60 quid for a 10 hour game. I got the media remote too which i am glad i did, and it looks like they will be adding voice control in the future which could be interesting.1 point -

60fps makes a huge difference especially for a game like that. I couldn't even get through Bloodborne on the PS4 without feeling sick as the framereate was wobbling around the 25-30 mark and the smoothing was non-existent. There's a few games which are perfectly acceptable at 30fps like God of War, RDR2 and Spider Man but that jump up to 60 is so significant, it's almost a game-changer for console gaming.1 point -

Astros Playroom is a fun little game to show what the controller can do, unfortunately there's not a lot of games incorporating any of it yet. Demons Souls is great, particularly the 60 fps which I hadn't experienced before enjoy!1 point -

Microsoft looking to buy Sega and Konami?
GazzaGarratt reacted to phil bottle for a topic
If it means Konami get the cash to buy the rights to FIFA football players and teams; and resurrect Silent Hill....that would be interesting. But Konami I thought mostly make slot machines of some kind so it's a weird one. Both companies have a decent back catalogue, particularly Sega. I have no idea what Microsoft's strategy is to be honest as I agree, in Japan it's all about Sony.1 point
