VAR in Football

I love VAR because it gives us the opportunity to moan, and we all love a good moan. Don't you dare say thats not true. Or I'll ask for a review. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk2 points -

Such a shame, people are thrusted into the limelight to easily now a days and there's not enough support for them. There's been a lot of this in reality shows recently like Love Island. Even though i can't stand those sorts of show, if you're going to put them on tv and give people this fame, you have to help them because not everyone is strong menatly. The fact he'd uploaded a video talking about this and still nothing was done show the state of this world at the moment.2 points -
F1 2019

So I haven’t read anything really about this game and I don’t think we have a thread on it already. However as I got given it (on PC) for my birthday I thought I’d check it out. I feel I need to prefix this with I haven’t played an F1 game since first or second codemasters ones (2010,2011?) So I can’t do any comparisons to what is better or worse than last year or really what content has been added. First impressions are good though. It took some setting up on my wheel to get the wheel rotation to match and ffb and vibration to where it felt comfortable. Which does lead me to my first complaint - there aren’t many ffb and vibration options. You get vibrations when travelling at high speeds which is accurate I guess but the wheel clicking and banging is annoying. But the only way I could find to tone this down was tone down all vibrations so now I don’t much vibration even running over kerbs. Sometimes these things can be sorted out by manually editing the ffb files though so I might be able to work around this but more time and investigation is required. Outside that though the ffb feels nice and the option to boost the feel of understeer is a useful option to know when you’re pushing too much. On to races, I only did two 5 lap races so not much but first impressions are good. The game looks really good and even on mostly high settings I was easily maintaining 60fps. The ai are damn quick, I had the slider set to 80 (out of 100) and could barely keep up. I’m sure I’ll get quicker with more practice and as I get more comfortable with the game but I honestly don’t ever see me having the ai at 100/100. The ai drive as you would expect racing drivers to, they will block and defend corners if you’re close to them. They’ll try to take the inside to overtake but will also try the outside if you defend. Tyre wear is in the game as far as I know but I didn’t do long enough races to test this so will have to update once I have. I have to say though it is hard work racing the cars. Managing fuel levels, fuel usage, ers usage etc. while trying to drive takes so much effort. I regularly ended up sticking it in the wall trying to change a setting. I’m sure it will get easier though with more time. I think I will try a few more quick races but then will hoping in to the full career mode as that looks to be fun.1 point -

Treyarch HQ 'Sweatshop' Conditions

Another interesting read from Kotaku The Human Cost Of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 KOTAKU.COM One Friday afternoon a few weeks ago, the developers at Treyarch held a happy hour event to welcome the summer interns. There was pizza... How times change - they used to be able to rattle games out within two years pretty comfortably. Activision and the demands of the industry has certainly taken it's toll. Now they have barely a year and a half to make Black Ops 5.1 point -

Very sad news Missing YouTuber Etika's body found WWW.BBC.CO.UK The gamer, who went missing last week, had uploaded a video describing suicidal thoughts. Didn't watch the guy but I saw a sad thing about him a couple of months back and he was clearly in a bad way. Surprised he wasn't hospitalised for a considerable amount of time because he came out still in a poor mental state. Seemed a likable and talented person.1 point -

It really does add to the game and a wheel is far better than a controller but they aren't cheap and they do take up quite a bit of space especially compared to a normal controller. So a little more practice tonight, decided to go full on practice no driving aids whatsoever. I managed to get my Melbourne time down to a 1:28. something. I looked at the real qualifying times - 1:20! Hmmmmm I might have someway to go yet. I was looking at the career too, launching a pro career turns the ai up to 110!!!! I can't even keep up at 80 😢1 point -

I will get a wheel at some point but I'll have to work on Mina very subtly, which I'm not great at 😅 Forgot to ask @J4MES OX4D if he's getting it? I have memories of an impressive F1 YouTube vid you did a while back. Or is that the lsd playing tricks with my memory, again.1 point -

Do it in order I would. Trilogy + Reach and then you have 4 games in one for £20. The original probably hasn't aged as well as Nigella Lawson but it's one of those games that has to be experienced.1 point -

You never do, a cockney is always a polite fellow 😜 And @J4MES OX4D my view of putting a bet on a penalty in every game with VAR should be onto a winner there, yeah? I'd rather moan about a human fuck up that happens instantaneously rather than a fatal system error that has an Service Level Agreement of completing the call in no less than 15 minutes per call.1 point -

Probably😁 I'm happy to spend the cost of a game but I wont stretch to any other form of soulless monetization to it which only really lines pockets rather than benefits the game. Same thing happened with Black Ops 4 - game 'under performed' so instead of enticing more players to the product with assurances and improvements; to mitigate the lost revenue, they simply just monetized it more aggressively instead and held existing owners to ransom. $1 for an operation level instead of playing 45 minutes or buy a gun that costs 75% of what you paid for the main game. Because they are rolling in so much money from secondary revenue streams, that's why so many AAA games are poor, neglected or well below the expected standard these days.1 point -

I assume the video you saw was Super GT’s? You do and you don’t have to be, coming in to heavy braking zones with all the downforce, you can stamp on the brakes no problem. It is as the downforce comes off and you turn in that you really need to be careful with the brakes. While just trying to learn Albert Park, I left TC and ABS on. Though I want to do a proper season so I’m going to try with no aids at all. A wheel you say, do it 😉 you know you want to, give in to your temptation 😉1 point -

At least you didn’t talk about being sucked 🤣 Which track was that? The last I did was Mount Panorama which I love but I think that was a week or 2 ago now. You mean trying to win a race isn’t challenging enough? lol. I keep finding I qualify mid pack so think if I qualify a little better then I’ll have a chance to win. So set a better qualifying time and then somehow start further down the grid. I will have to try without abs at some point as to do the f1 career properly you can’t use abs.1 point -

Phil's monthly rant inbound, no structure whatsoever, so apologies, I'm multitasking, and spouting off random thoughts. Again. As I say, it's a completely fucked up way of organising anything. It leads to short term thinking, and having such a law is a get out of jail free card for corporations to engage in the most anti-human practices imaginable. And here I'm not exclusively talking about the gaming industry. Car companies willing to take lawsuits rather than withdraw dangerous cars, clothing companies using child labour, tech companies building phones in China driving their employees to suicide, Amazon working conditions, the gig economy, zero hour work contracts etc etc etc all in the name of financial profit. But does profit care about humanity? I don't think so. Back to gaming: People didn't buy Anthem (among a number of recent EA flops), in fact they didn't buy it in droves, EA will not change their business practice despite that, and despite all of the continuing negative feedback. Because they've decided the direction they want to move in already. For profit. So how does the argument, 'don't buy it' work then? There's always a market who will buy shit because they don't know any better and will accept anything they are handed. Bethesda released a piece of shit when they could have held it back and finished it properly. Short term profit thinking here has almost destroyed Fallout. Don't even get me started about Mass Effect: Andromeda. Did anyone see the defence of loot boxes this week in the UK parliament? Surprise mechanics lol. The surprise is how gullible we all are. But profit must be made, so these robots robotically churned out a point of view only understood by robots. Robots with massive balls to be fair. BTW, please don't mention a pension I'll probably never see, Brexshit will see to that. We'll be working into our 80s.1 point -

The nether region? I believe you mean the shadow realm 😛 Nice one Phil, I’ve always found driving without ABS too much of a pain so kudos to you learning to race without it. Interlagos is a good track though one I’m not even close to being fast at. I assume you’re doing the daily races? How is your dr and sr coming along?1 point -

Correct. Enshrined in law to ensure that shareholders, especially smaller shareholders, aren’t ripped off by unscrupulous management and corporate greed. Shareholders get a bad press in my opinion but without them some companies wouldn’t be able to thrive and expand, some certainly wouldn’t exist Correct again imo. I would imagine even the smallest private pension plan in this country involves a share portfolio. Also, If you’ve spent all your working life serving others in local councils and the like, the chances are that your (justifiably) rather nice pension is backed by investments in share funds amongst other things Like Pat says, voting with your wallet is the only thing that they’ll listen to1 point -

I am sure when you look at your retirement fund and what ever portfolio you might have you feel differently They aren't doing anything illegal nor do you have to buy the product. I keep hearing a number of people on this site complaining about how Activation sucks and is a poor company. Then a few days later I read on how everyone purchased the game anyways.1 point -

Funnily enough, I had a minor eureka moment tonight while watching youtuber GT Sport streaming the daily races. I've been struggling to understand how I'm losing time in corners and even watching videos of the top player fastest laps (a nice feature of the game) I've been baffled as to how I'm losing time. So, during the stream a viewer asked him which order to switch off driving aids. Here's the thing. I forgot I still have ABS enabled. I have TCS down to 1 or 2, depending on car and tyre and completely forgot about ABS. So I switched it off and tried Interlagos in the Audi. First couple of turns and I thought "fuck this". Breaked hard, locked and couldn't turn. Off into the nether region. Impossible. But then I worked out how to do it properly. Feels so good, like I've gone up another level. Learning to stop breaking before turning is something new for me to master and that's awesome. I can already see how driving in this way helps take a better line and I just need to watch i don't cut the corners too much[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk1 point -

Whilst I don’t comment very much or very often nowadays I still always keep an eye out for what people are saying and seeing the discussions that occur on new and current games. I think life and getting older older has got in the way of how much time I used to spend on the forum and it’s a real shame because the friendships on here have meant that I no longer sit there just playing games by myself, because I’m actually a very shy and reserved person when I’m out of my comfort zone so thanks to everybody here.1 point

Forever Gaming's 'Feel Good' Fund
tronic44 reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
Back to the FGFGF grind! It has been a while since we've had to dig deep to send a few parcels. We'd love to do some on a regular basis but clearly that all depends on you lovely people helping to donate what you can to make some people Feel Good. However, the good news is that we managed to save enough up for a few parcels to go out in the last few days and we have a few more coming out in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for those. 😎 In the meantime, the parcels that hit their doorstep this week were for good old @Stretch616 and @ChaosGladiator. They are now both proud owners of a 1TB external hard drive and now therefore have no excuses for not having a game fully updated. I'd love to get some more done, in the UK and on an International basis, so I want to hear some more ideas from all of you on some people that really deserve a Feel Good moment, whether they have had issues or not, it does not matter. The aim is to keep giving Feel Good moments out as much as we can from the best place in the world. Thanks to the few that have donated over recent months, it really is the only way we can keep doing these awesome Feel Good moments happening. GGFG all 👊1 point
