GazzaGarratt 11,056
I know short answers might be 'I'm not!' but I'm keen to know what people are doing. I'm struggling alot to find motivation so I'd love to take some inspiration from all of you and get some tips to get my arse out of this sofa! I've been trying to get out in the garden and play a little football game once or twice with my daughter which isnt much but it breaks the day up. Also, done some Yoga Cosmic Kids video with them which was fun...and made me realise I'm not as flexible as I once was 🤣 Let's hear what you've done! tronic44 1 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/7684-how-are-we-keeping-fit-and-healthy-in-isolation/ Share on other sites
uberwarrior 373
Well I've had a healthy breakfast!! Banana, Greek yoghurt and honey, after walking the dog. tronic44 3,642
https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 I’ve been doing Joe Wicks in the morning to get me back into exercise and mixing it in with some of of my old rugby training exercises. I must admit he talks a lot but it is also for kids, so if you’re an adult just push your a bit harder. Also all the money he generates from these videos goes straight to the NHS, so stick it on in the background even if you’re not exercising. If you can’t even do that then you truly are lazy. I also went on a bit of a jog yesterday but my back hasn’t been great over the years and jogging isn’t good for my back. Im determined to keep up with exercise so hopefully I can get back to my shredded self or just be a bit fitter. I think I go for a bit fitter 😄 uberwarrior and GazzaGarratt 2 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/7684-how-are-we-keeping-fit-and-healthy-in-isolation/#findComment-127269 Share on other sites

techno 3,511
As they closed the gym at work we needed something else so we've been getting a 2.5-3 mile walk in during our lunch break. Seems weird at 2 in the morning to get waved at and not stopped by the multitude of police that pass us nightly. I also have a bench and some weights at home that I use sporadically and I've gone back to 100 press ups a day. I've lost the motivation to go out walking at the weekend but I'll have to do it while off work next week. tronic44 and GazzaGarratt 2 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/7684-how-are-we-keeping-fit-and-healthy-in-isolation/#findComment-127275 Share on other sites

I may look at varying up over a few days. A youtube workout, walk, might even look into a bike if we seem to be like this for a while. phil bottle 9,770
@GazzaGarratt for bicycles you want to go for a hybrid. But one with a large frame. I have a Specialized Crossroads which has lasted me 10 years so far. Although I've changed all of the parts at some point or other. Cycling every day means I need to change the chain and cogset every couple of years, brake blocks can be yearly. Once in a while I get a professional to service it as I'm only an amateur and some things, like greasing ballbearings, take me too long to do. But that's a once every 5 years type job.I cycle from Hackney to Barbican/St Paul's for work but I cycle for leisure too. There's a canal in Hackney which takes you to the river Lea and there's a whole section of east london green space around that way that many people don't know about, as even in summer its fairly peaceful. There's an old overgrown waterworks and bird sanctuary, plus hackney marshes to the north, and you almost feel like you're in the countryside.I hate walking but on a bike I feel magnificent.Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk GazzaGarratt 1 Link to comment https://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/forums/topic/7684-how-are-we-keeping-fit-and-healthy-in-isolation/#findComment-127325 Share on other sites

techno 3,511
@GazzaGarratt I normally do my press-ups in 3 sets between getting up and going to work during the week and I don't prefer any part of the day above another tbh. I did find the 100 press-ups a day for 30 days to see if it was a gimmick but I actually felt it worked for me, I went from struggling through 30 to actually hitting 50.in 1 go. Spacedeck 920
Nothing in-doors but as you know my usual running outside is what keeps me sane. Hopefully the measures we are now under don't get tighter and they don't take away exercising outdoors. @techno I struggle with push-ups, too weak to do them. I've been trying to do them during lockdown, just 10 on a night and the last 2 pushes are hard on my arms. I'll try continue with it though and see if I can improve to do them for longer. GazzaGarratt 11,056
@phil bottle never heard of specialised crossroads so i've just taken a look. They seem to be decent bikes and especially for the stuff you do. Not many places to go on bike rides here but there are a few parks not far away so maybe as the lockdown settles down a bit and people stop being dicks then its a viable option for sure. Any provider would you recommend? My arms are my weakpoints however when I did do some press ups for a few weeks most mornings about 6 months ago I know it does make them stronger. Its repetition that will get you there and squeezing maybe 1 or 2 more extra every so often. I'm sure Elliott can confirm the basics of muscle building (as far as I've always been taught at school) is too much them a little bit over the limit so they burn and internally your muscles need to tear and reattach themselves stronger each time. Gary's suggestion above seems a good one - just set a lower target and see how you go. Worst thing you can do is set unrealistic goals based on where you're starting. The original goal of 100 then becomes more realistic over time. On 4/8/2020 at 3:54 PM, Middle Class Caveman said: Cardio, is that Spanish? Oui.
