Greboth 2,721
With only a couple minutes thought, the only one I can think to add to the above is Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. Though I could add all the main cast from Firefly or most Nathan Fillion roles. GazzaGarratt
RenFengge 1,039
Felt like reviving this thread... I'll throw in a few. When I previously looked at this thread, I thought i'd think of some more after the number 1 person that Greebs mentioned above. Clearly, there wasn't many alongside him! Other notables are Chris Pratt because of Starlord, Jean Claude Van Damme since the days of Universal Soldier and any Nicolas Cage film too. Nathan Fillion is a joy to watch (or listen) in anything he does. He has that "type" that he plays nailed down. I first saw him on Buffy as the evil Priest. It's been great seeing his career grow and become what it is. It was probably one of the only roles where his wit and sense of humor wasn't completely utilized. For me, there are enjoyable actors who I will almost always watch in whatever they do... then there are amazing characters in stories. Like, I love David Rose from Schitt's Creek, but I'm not sure if I want to watch that actor in other roles. He's a fantastic writer. For women actresses, there are not many that I feel the need to watch. But, I suspect that's because there aren't as many witty roles available to them. I'll probably watch anything with Constance Wu or Emma Watson or Charlize Theron. But, I love Hermione in the Harry Potter movies. I adore Peeta in Hunger Games. I think Xander and Oz and Spike in Buffy stole the show whenever they were on scene. For newer shows... Iggy in New Amsterdam is my favorite character. Chimney in Rescue 9-1-1 is also fantastic. Philipia Georgieau in Star Trek Discovery is amazing. GazzaGarratt

Though if you start on West Wing, I think I'd list all of the main cast really as it's such a well written show. Interesting you pick Daniel from SG1 though, I always preferred the sarcasm of O'Neil (and Shepherd in Atlantis). I'd also add G'kar and Londo from Babylon 5, I loved their interactions through the series starting from enemies, to mutual respect and arguably ending in friendship. For West Wing, I was trying to narrow it down to 1. I got down to 2. The characters from seasons 1 - 4 were phenomenal. I wish there was another show like it. I loved The Newsroom too. Aaron Sorkin is a writer for our times. I wish I was able to watch his rendition of To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway before COVID took my chance away. For SG-1, I think Daniel's story just really pulled at me. I loved O'Neil's sarcasm. It's what made the show great. But, there was a depth and torture to Daniel that I wanted to follow, always trying to get his wife back... just a mess. However, I'm nota fan of what they did with his character in the end. Now, Babylon 5... ooohh.. that show had so many poignant quotes. G'kar on B5 reminded me a lot of Garak on Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Both were great characters on each show. I enjoyed watching G'kar and Londo's character arcs turning into friendship. I think the character arc on B5 that stung was watching Garibaldi become at odds with the rest of B5. Jodie Comer in Killing Eve is incredible and I do enjoy watching Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp. Also, don't know why I didn't mention Ryan Reynolds when I mentioned Chris Pratt but that humour always appeals to me. RenFengge
techno 3,507
This seems as much a list of shows people like because obviously it's down to the characters in the shows or films. Recently I'd have to add Tom Ellis as Lucifer The crew members of red dwarf James Spader in blacklist Nathan Fillion gets mentioned quite a bit does anyone else watch the rookie. These are great mentions. I love Lucifer and the rest of the cast. Amenadiel's growth from a strict angel into a nuanced being has been satisfying. Mazikeen's sociopathic ridiculous is hilarious. Chloe is the worst for me. @TurboR56Mini and I watch The Rookie. Honestly wasn't going to think I would like it enough to really pay attention to the show. But, we started watching it because of Nathan Fillion. It's a good show. Lighthearted enough to balance out some of the more series topics and storylines they cover. I was pleasantly surprised with Bradford becoming one of my favorites. Such a shame on some of the set drama. Would have loved to see the character progression on Talia. But, bringing in the character of Nyla has also been really good for the show. techno

Ah, Ryan Reynolds. Sometimes, when I would come home from school, I would catch an episode of "Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place". No other person on that show stood out for me except for Reynolds. The delivery of the humor was pretty spot on. He's another actor that I have enjoyed watching progress in his career. Always with some silly rom com or whatever. Never thought he would be considered an A-lister. Was it Deadpool that really cinched it for him? I love knowing that he's going to be in Clue. It's one of my favorite movies. Greboth 2,721
I thought of another one to add to the list, Amos from The Expanse. The balance of his character clearly having a moral compass on what is right and wrong yet having no qualms on how to achieve that. The "I am that guy" scene with Prax and Stricland I think perfectly sums up his character. The layers of knowing why Prax wants to kill Stricland, knowing what it will do to someone like Prax and caring enough for Prax to stop him. Yet knowing Stricland should die and without second guessing himself being totally ok with murdering him. 3 hours ago, RenFengge said: Ah, Ryan Reynolds. I used to quite like Chloe in the earlier seasons but I think her character has suffered in the last couple of seasons. I really like Ella's character too and some of the more Ella centric episodes have been good and I do wish they'd develop her character more. I'd agree with The Rookie too, as Nathan Fillion is always a win though I also started watching it for Melissa O'Neil (Lucy Chen). The type of character he plays always seems to amuse me. He's like Shale in Dragon Age Origins lol. At least to me. But, Amos' backstory is one that I think a lot of people want to learn about. Because no one becomes that broken without surviving something. And, from what I understand, they toned down his history in the show versus the books. Ella is a blast in Lucifer. Such a naive juxtaposition against the other characters. I mean, Chloe is like dumb and oblivious. But, Ella? She's like willfully ignorant to what everyone is around her. And, so... optimistic. Before I forget, Carl and I watched Travelers on Netflix. It was a great show that while it was cancelled, it had a proper ending. My favorite character there was Trevor Holden. Dunno why. But, he was. The sheer amusement of his character being this old guy put in the youngest body in the team... and being so wise at times. Loved it.
