I have run many games over skype, icq, web forum, and a few other platforms. Personally I dislike them. My wife plays very seriously, and as a GM I enjoy that. We have our silly moments, but they are few and far between. The games I have run for her are far more political intrigue and investigative, than combat. Your experience with a new group is my experience with most all groups over the last several decades. Its hard finding a good group that isn't built up person by person to ensure a good fit.

Final Standings! Dan takes the win with an impressive flourish of points in the final 2 games. Phil came a valiant 2nd with Chris holding off Didds to take 3rd spot. Tom's late resurgence wasn't enough to push higher. I'll reach out to the top 3 over the next few days to sort prizes 😆 Hope this was enjoyable for all? Want to find a better way of doing it next time with a 3rd party app as the spreadsheet way was time consuming for me and not ideal to review for you guys but at least we did it and had a good laugh with alot of entries. I say all of the below with full knowledge that I started the vast majority of the political threads in that sub forum. However, views change. TA > politics IMO. It was a mistake listening to the group when I posted that poll. Delete it, or I can. I told Lee this, but not the rest of you. I had some coworkers that were browsing the forums on my laptop a bit ago. That particular day, only political threads were going, they all 4 said no thanks. I put the forum on moderation after that, and it amuses me that no one noticed until today. (I get notices whenever people post there, I have been counting the days until someone posted there. 14 days.) I've grouped with a bunch of people on Warframe, Division, and Destiny 2. None have joined up here. Why? I have asked and was given non-committal answers. Politics have zero to do with gaming. Regardless of all the talk of us being a family. New people are NOT members of that family yet, they don't get us, they don't how we all talk to each other. Why turn off those potential new members with an entire forum dedicated to shit that, right now, makes people angry, and pushes them away? Seems counter to what Lee whats for this place. Rip off the broken limb and move on. None of this means that getting rid of that section will make the membership #'s for the site increase. However, at this point, no one can say it won't. Focus on the brand Lee wants us to have. Yes, adults can talk about whatever they want, but adults should also know that some things should be avoided when they don't have a place anymore.

Have to be honest here. And Lee did give me the chance to have a say before they did anything, so no complaints there. If Moderation is going to apply, then it needs to be for ALL posts. Not just 'speakers corner' (which is kind of funny when you think about it). Which no-one would like. So, it needs to be discontinued, in my opinion. Any methodology you are going to use for this will leave you stepping on eggshells and trying to walk tightropes, tightropes laced with Vaseline. I'll go further in detail on this, if needed. I'm sorry not everyone likes what gets discussed politics-wise but that's life, we have opinions and I'm never in favour of trying to control that kind of thing. We're adults and personally, I like to know what kind of person I might be spending my time with.

I've wanted to do this for a long time so whilst we're doing some and changes it seems right to do it now. I want to have a dedicated charity partner, possibly a yearly thing that we can do some charity activity to link it to. I'd like suggestions on the idea and who you think we should start with. We'll then put a vote out. This doesn't mean we have a target or can't raise money for other charities either. It just gives some focus to doing some charity fun. Please get some ideas kicking below. Feels kind of weird saying it but whilst I have to accept the changing world of consoles, I'll also admit I really miss the original concept of a console having games that you can put in and play. They're just becoming glorified PCs. I don't like how console games are so reliant on online connectivity these days. Some games only contain partial data so a download is mandatory, day one patches are rife and the more and more single player games that require an internet connection is growing worryingly. Also the amount of games that are being designed around an online service in the AAA industry is just horrible now. A game like God of War champions how gaming was and should be then you have others like Far Cry 5 which just capture everything wrong with the industry these days.

Yea, i have a really hard time dealing with players that don't pay attention. Unless they are kids, I cut kids a lot of slack. I ran a game for a coworker, his wife, their daughter, and my wife. The daughter was 14, all she wanted to do was play Table Top WoW. She had absolutely zero interest in a 3 way civil war wrapped around slavery and religious persecution. Which makes total sense, I helped her roll a night elf hunter (Ranger) and have a huge panther as a mount. She frequently lied about her dice rolls and never paid attention. As the GM I just recorded half damage for her, pretty much always, and had all the important NPC's ignore her moire ridiculous actions. The game was a lot of fun, but it didn't last, as my coworker ended up getting fired.

Has anyone ever contributed to a D&D session via Skype? I wonder if that would be possible? You could join my new group as a player that way, if we were in a decent timezone. Maybe a weekend session sometime... We have our 2nd meet tonight. The first session went ok. I take these things quite seriously in terms of roleplay and don't have a lot of patience for silliness. Unless we end up playing Paranoia maybe. Silliness has a time and place. The group is partly new to D&D and one of the guys was doing things that were not in the character or nature of his player character. Which he needs to cut out. It was a good first night otherwise. I used Detect Magic to good effect at one point and which kind of made my night lol.

Next console generation focus should be on getting games running at 1080p/60fps bare minimum and I think that will be achievable. PS4 has done well to produce so many ambitious titles with hardware from 2012 but with the majority of games running around the 30fps mark and not even full 1080, it's definitely showing its age even if the games are current. I certainly wouldn't expect a huge jump in quality of games or scope especially from the AAA industry but hopefully from a performance perspective, games will be running to a higher and more consistent standard straight away.

Special Effect would be my suggestion, they create ways and new tech for people with disabilities, so they are able to game. They have slowly gotten bigger over the last few years but they are still only a team of around 6 people. I have to speaking to them off and on for the last couple of years now, was hoping to do a 24 hour live stream with them later this year but we're so busy at the moment. I'm happy to support anything!

Houndish's explains the Solstice mechanics pretty easily. If you don't watch it, essentially we'll have a ton of bounties to do which takes us back through missions that have been revamped and with different modifiers along the way. You are rewarded a set of armour as rewards and you keep upgrading thia armour as you do more bounties/objectives. End result is 400 Power armour with 3 different styles (the first 2 styles become ornaments so only need one set of gear). I'm glad they are re-using content in a different way as I miss the days of old where we had to re-run missions for dailies, etc. There's a chance that the Black Spindle quest/challenge could open up from one of these modified missions too.

Suppose we'll have to wait to see what differences that has. As all the Barons are Scorn too, I'm really hoping the Baron Missions turn into replayable strike-type missions. Lots more variety in how Scorn react from what is shown in the video. Positive stuff.

I do too. I'm really glad we're seeing positive tweaks to IB as it tends to just be left as it is. Totally agree. They indicated that in how they explained it in last week's TWAB. I'm just hoping that there will be a few that can drop in the next few weeks so there is a few things to chase alongside Solstice of Heroes.

I'm open to either way Dan - I agree though, @Plumbers Crack Dave's idea works well to start with. Personally I would love to have a UK one and a North American one. At the end of the day even if we can raise 20, 30, 50 dollars and/or pounds we're at least trying something to help good causes. What do others think?

Players may access a set number of Triumphs on Bungie.net prior to the event beginning. Players can complete Triumphs to earn points that they can trade for rewards such as emblems, a Sparrow, and a code to purchase a special T-shirt. When the summer event becomes available on July 31, 2018, players can receive these Triumph bounties from the special summer event vendor and will have the entirety of the event to complete them. Triumphs are based on account-specific data; once a Triumph has been claimed and redeemed for points, it cannot be claimed for points on another character. All Triumphs can be tracked via bungie.net; the highest values of a character on that account will be displayed. In-game rewards will become available on July 31, 2018. I dunno...ditch it if you feel it’s necessary, I’ll go with the majority but I feel uneasy that we haven’t got an area where we can have “robust” discussions between consenting members, even if they are infrequent.

In terms of an 'issue' isn't one I don't think there is one as its a broader question - I mentioned to Phil some time ago I was thinking of removing it soon and this helps stem the conversation. Re: light touch - i can't see us changing that much tbh but at the same time you have to realise why its light touch. 1) we've built strong and positive friendships on here so we all know each others boundaries (well, most 😉), 2) we have mods but how much 'moderation' is actually done right now is extremely small. Like 0.03% of time, and 3) we just don't have the number of active posters right now. If we had more people here which I know everyone would love, you'll have more stuff to keep an eye on. We're a gaming family/community that needs more activity (well, i want it) and also want it to be a one stop for 'life' too as that's where a real family here goes further. If Reddit can do it, why can't we. P.s. for the record, i believe we can shit all over Reddit as what we stand for and what we've built is unique and simply awesome.

Not a chance I'll get this unless there is some kind of massive change in the industry. I've reached a point where I'm pretty much going to stop spending my hard earned money on triple bullshit games companies. I have plenty of games to keep me occupied for years. Other than Fallout 76 and maybe Red Dead I don't see myself supporting the madness any more. I need to save money for a new GPU and not buying games seems the bestxeay to save. Plus, I need to catch up on games I bought in sales.
