You could play any PS3 multiplayer game without PS+. Only since the PS4 was PS+ a requirement to play games online against other users. I didn't have to pay Sony a penny from COD4 to MW3 and every other online game in between.

Been a while.  Did they just start the pay for Multiplayer in PS4 only? I wouldn't have gotten PS+ for anything else than that and I seem to recall having it for PS3. Was there any other reason to get it?  I was entirely PSN before moving to California.

There use ro be free games as I recall but it was ps plus where you had to subscribe.

Love how the ps3 was free to play online but I think the only hame I played the shit out of was BoP 2 l.

Agreed. You needed PSN+ for multiplayer games. That was the only reason I would get it. Same with PS4.

I believe with PSN the "free to play" games no longer require PSN+. So warzone, overwatch, destiny should be free. Call of duty (MP) however still requires the PSN+

On XBOX you need to pay. However my experience is that its totally worth it.  If I play cod from house on XBOX, the network is flawless. If I play on my PS4, same game same maps it sketchy as hell which is why I'm on XBOX all the time now.

Whats this perk?? Never heard of this one!

I'm working my way to get to it. I think its not being noticed much because its not that clear its a new gun. Can't wait to use it as its wrecked me a few times.

Dragon breath or whatever it's call is the fire ammo for the shot gun. I think you get it by maxing the expedite 12 if I remember correctly. It's crazy good. It was nerfed lately, use to be that on shipment about  80% of people were running it.

The rifle is probably going to get nerfed too. I used it in DMZ a lot and the AI are complaining that I am OP and what the dev's the nerf the gun 🙂

I run it with the 50 round drum

Videos are supposed to be watched - the conclusion of context isn't supposed to be determined by the title😂 These are two pretty decent videos from longstanding COD community members including one who plays and produces content daily and is about as honest as they come. Disregarding their entire opinion because you're offended by the video title is rather sad. Both Counter-Strike and Fortnite have put in place some hugely significant and extremely innovative updates which could radically dictate where MP gaming will go in the next 5 years. It's a perfectly fair debate and talking point based on where COD is right now behind the scenes and in terms of its immediate and long-term future. Try not to think every video out there is outright negative and a vendetta against the franchise - even Activision's very own content creator partners are capable of raising concerns on what direction the franchise is going and how they are going to achieve sustainability especially with rival titles making huge strides who are already in a far stronger position in the industry.

Neroscinema also raises a huge talking point regarding skins - both Fornite and Counter-Strike allow users to retain their earned and purchased skins at all times whereas COD can wipe out thousands of dollars of user purchases going forward as seen during the Warzone transition. Things like that can have a big impact on the consumer and that's just one aspect that Activision needs to address especially with COD 2023. That's a perfectly fair thing to explore so really not sure why you would dismiss things like that outright because of a title..

I mostly dismissed it because I really don't give a flipping shit what others think about games I play. Either I enjoy them and play or I don't. Whatever any of those jackasses bitch about has no bearing on my decisions in the end.

I like to watch Stonemountain and Westie because I actually get to see game play that's pretty decent. Not like what was in one of those videos with bot opponents that are standing around to be shot in the face.

I thought it was pretty hilarious to watch someone call a competing dev team creating domination on rust innovation when that's been done to death.

Yeah I'll look to add some in the week ahead. I think Pat mentioned the ISO Hemlock too and I must admit its my go to as well so I need to get it up there so it probably shows high up on the list.

If it's your go to, you haven't gotten your hands on the Crossbow with termites, Torrent or broadside with dragon breath.

    The torrent is crazy good.

The throwing stars or fun, unfortunately they are only available on WZ but you can go Cyberninja on people 🙂

Just as James said @Tove, this is awesome work!

Your stories and updates have been a great read. So much so, I tried to have some time for some DMZ this past weekend and really enjoyed it. One quick game on Friday @LordBaguette and @James5497 jumped in with me and we ended up getting a Tier 2 quest where we needed to get a few UAV Towers done, buy a car, drive across the whole map to the City to kill 15 people with the turret and then blow it up. Hilarious stuff as there ended up being multiple teams at the Extraction point given we had around 3-4 minutes to go. I feel like those games give you the best feeling as its definitely high risk, high reward. Extracted with £97k but didn't realise until afterwards....just kept picking up the dog tags whilst gunfire went off everywhere. Love pieces of candy 😅

Which faction has the best and fun missions to do so far in Season 2?

I think as far as mission goes that's subjective.  For example some require that you kill other operators (real players). So require that you do something "complex" like put trackers on 4 of the extract choppers.

Some are high risk, like the hard drive drop off which you need to make sure don't get killed along the way or you need to completely restart. Some are very routine but allow you to do things like level up your guns.

Depends what you like to do. There are tons of people for example who just love killing other operators and screwing up their missions so the killing ones are fun

I'm looking forward to it between MP and DMZ I've played the heck out of MW2 since launch

Same.  Will see. I know shit loads of people that are gold on ranked and play a lot. I know load of people on DMZ (our group is about 1000 people on facebook). I know people on Warzone.  Everyone of which is happy with the game.  I think I have 6 days of time on MP. Couldn't careless if there aren't 20 maps.

There are 15 modes or so I can plan in lieu of map

    There are 2 battlemap modes

    There's ranked play

They give me that again and get it to run as well as this one. I have no problem with it. Even of half the people return, it's probably going to be a bigger commercial success that vanguar anyways

Especially as it’s the only paid portion of the game.

    No it isn't.

You cannot play ground war or the other battle mode without paid. You cannot do co-op without paid. You cannot do raid without paid.

You cannot play rank without paid and technically those are 4v4

All the maps I mentioned are part of those modes

I completed the poppy farmer house mission yesterday! Fortunately I did it on the first attempt with the key that’s given as a reward for an earlier mission.

Much better than last season when they this took my weeks because I had to find 2 extra keys.

If you run into that again go to the DMZ facebook page, some people will run the mission with you or trade keys for that very reason. I have not done it, but I have not seen anyone complain since the users are not anonymous

The main problem people have for MW2 is the lack of maps for 6v6. It only had 10 at launch and has only received 4 since then and the game has been out 5 months. We haven't had a single new map since the game launched.

FYI I never complained about the futuristic COD games. I think AW and BO3 were excellent. I'd even say BO3 is my favourite COD ever.

I never said you complained about futuristic, however it is acknowledge that the community has a whole didn't like it. Activision in the material even said they would be returning to boots on the ground for that very reason

As far as maps I don't see eye to eye with people complaining

    We got

    Al Bagra Fortress

    Breenbergh Hotel

    Crown Raceway (Grand Prix renamed)

    El Asilo

    Embassy

    Farm 18

    Mercado Las Almas

    Santa Seña Border Crossing

    Taraq

    Zarqwa Hydroelectric

    Guijarro (Ground War)

    Santa Seña (Ground War)

    Sariff Bay (Ground War)

    Sa’id (Ground War)

    Taraq (Ground War)

    At launch

    Shoot House (Launch)

    Shipment (Mid-Season)

    Season 2

    Dome

    Valderas Museum

    Zaya Observatory (Battle Map)

    Al Malik International (Battle Map)

    congress spa

The 32 vs 32 mode is a PvP mode that was added. You can chose to play or not. You can chose to like or not but it is still something they delivered to the paid customer base

That's 21 maps which I believe is inline with other cods.  And it more that the 14 by you calculations. If you chose no the play the modes that offer the other 7 that's your business. However that's not  a shortcoming of the development. It's a matter that you don't play certain modes

People keep coming back that the 6v6 is not the same. True however you now have a bunch of modes you didn't have when the original MW2 came out so you can take it or leave it

In addition I beleive there are now 6 Co-op maps and perhaps 2 raid maps.  I personnally don't like those modes and did it only for the unlocks. However they do exist and people do play them because I never had a problem getting partners to play.

My advice to everyone that complains about what you are getting here is go play cod Mobile. There are lots of maps, lots of events. It's mostly the top maps in one place with all of the best guns and everyone's favorite modes.

I play it on Ipad and controller. I think there might be a PC emulator for it. it's completely free and there are constant updates.

There were rumours originally of just a straight up Map Pack for MW2 that contained all of the maps from the original MW2. I'd have quite happily paid for that. What they're doing now just sounds, like you said, desperate. If Activision would actually support 6v6 properly then they might not see the drop-off in players like they're currently getting.

For all we know that's what they are going to do with a follow-up campaign or something. Maybe a change of the Perk system which a lot a lot of people are complaining about anyways

When you look at MP its basically all the same.  TDM, KC, DOM, HP, Free for all. Then a number of other ones but those 5 are the foundation. So what would a "new" title really give you

The gave us WW2 and people complained

They gave us futuristic and people complained

They gave us "cold war". As far as I know people liked that.

They gave us MW and that seemed to be the best received over all

Would do you expect would make people happy

saw this video the other day, I didn't realise that the camera also suffered with this bug, I knew that ammo and armor boxes did.

I couldn't get it to work but the stars did align. I got two randoms doing the same exact mission who spawned in with the camera.  We got it done in no time

BTW going to that location is worth it as there is a lot of good gear in the caves. If you are cautious you can clear solo without too much trouble. Just be prepared for the 2-3 shield guys.  It's a good place to get vest/backpacks/Kill streaks

It’s more complicated than that though as you can overheat an NVMe and it will throttle performance to cool itself down.

They don’t draw much power but the heat is focused to controller and memory.  Constant and large read write operations will overheat a drive without a cooler.  Gaming isn’t quite that intensive but the drive will certainly get warm - though warm is actually a good thing.  It’s also further muddied that gen3 drives aren’t too bad but gen4 drives get significantly hotter.

If memory serves the PS5 is gen4 so I’d say get a cooler.  I don’t know how well the PS5 cools the nvme but the degradation and performance loss is considerably worse if they get too hot than a little cooler.

NVMe drives have an optimal operating temperature that is much higher than a regular HDD. So if they get too cold they actually become less efficient. So you will want them to run around 40+ degrees celsius.

However they will also begin to thermally throttle when they get too hot, which is around 90-105 degrees Celsius depending on the brand.

So unless you are doing crazy amounts of non stop writing to the drives (like 30 mins+) you are unlikely to see any performance throttling. Given that what is on the drive is the game information you are going to be reading all the time. That's why an SDD is also great for a PC operating system and SW because after you install you mostly read.

Solid state drives are also made of FLASH memory. Flash memory has a limited number of writes for its lifetime so that last thing is you want to do is write to it a lot which would cause the throttling.

PCIe Gen4 NVMe is a different story as these seem to run a lot hotter, so that is why you will see them coming with giant heatsinks pre-installed on Gen4 drives.  I never checked the interface for the PS5

I would check what sony has to say
