J4MES OX4D reacted to Riff Machine in Dice To Pixels
I missed last week, so here are Episodes 71 & 72. We talk about the mass exodus of talent from The Escapist, including Yahtzee Croshaw, and I'm sick this week, so Sarah and Adrian talk about some gaming tables, the PS portal, among other things.

J4MES OX4D got a reaction from phil bottle in Starfield
Bethesda developers have been working overtime all week responding to negative reviews and telling people they were wrong and how they didn't play the game right. Some of the responses seem really unhinged and remarkably out of touch.
Here's one infamous take:-
Some of Starfield’s planets are meant to be empty by design - but that's not boring. “When the astronauts went to the moon, there was nothing there. They certainly weren't bored." The intention of Starfield's exploration is to evoke a feeling of smallness in players and make you feel overwhelmed. You can continue to explore and find worlds that do have resources you need or hidden outposts to look through.
Comparing a real-life moon landing which was one of the biggest achievements in the history of humanity to their shitty procedurally-generated copy and pasted planets to justify their emptiness is one of the most insane things I have ever heard from a developer. It's just one of many really weird responses. Surely they would thank the players for their feedback, understand the critique and take on board what has been said for future titles but no, they have to tell the players that they should not be bored because the game is 'realistic'.
It's also a damning insight into their design philosophy through development.

J4MES OX4D got a reaction from IRaMPaGe in DMZ Mode Abandoned
Did this even get out of 'beta'?
Activision Just Killed Call of Duty’s DMZ Mode — and No-One's Surprised - IGN
WWW.IGN.COM Activision has announced Call of Duty DMZ will no longer receive new content updates, sounding the death knell for the mode.
Half arsed support and a lack of monetisation opportunities for Activision. Shame because they could've done so much more to it with a dedicated team working on this mode.

J4MES OX4D got a reaction from GazzaGarratt in Lethal Company
This may be the most popular game out right now. Costs just £8.50 on Steam and is a sci-fi co-op horror game about scavenging moons and bases. 98% positive on Steam with 85,000 reviews and despite only 4,000 people playing last month, in November it's been up to 184,000 which is a huge blow-up - probably not quite on Among us levels but it's definitely gaining huge traction.

Not bad, not bad at all.
Not quite Chriss Brass quality but almost as good

J4MES OX4D got a reaction from tronic44 in Uncharted Series
The 4th game is quite cutscene heavy plus it drags on massively towards the end. Still a great game but you have to be in the right mood to experience it. The trilogy are much better games overall - probably 6-10 hours and although they still focus on the story, it's not quite as prominent. Uncharted 4 took me about 25 hours and long before the end it began to outsay its welcome despite impressing in places.

J4MES OX4D reacted to phil bottle in Your first ever FPS?
Unreal Tournament on a mate's PC but yeah probably Goldeney on N64 was just before that.
First game I would describe as a modern type FPS for me though is Black, on PS2.

I forgot about Delta Force which is kinda dumb as I've been following the upcoming new game just this week🤣
Another one is Operation Flashpoint which eventually would become Arma.

Delta Force: Task Force Dagger on the PC! I also had the cardboard insert that you could put over your keyboard to help know what keys were which, so cool back then 😄
