  1. A PS VR2 price cut 'will be needed to avoid a complete disaster' after reportedly slow launch | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Market research firm IDC has crunched the sales numbers and is suggesting a price cut is vital to the success of Sony's VR headset.
  2. A real shame because this year was the chance for smaller companies to take the big stage after many of the AAA ones declined an invite to maintain their own shows. It would’ve been the first E3 since the pandemic but it seems the wider interest wasn’t quite there. Ubisoft had centre stage but they backed out last week to attend Summer Game Fest along with Devolver Digtial. There was also apparently a huge lack of information with some publishers unsure it was even going ahead and too apprehensive to commit. All this just two months before the event and no confirmed developers set in stone. Looks like SGF will take the reigns from now on as E3 was out of touch and completely disorganised. A real shame because it was an iconic event that never recovered in recent years

    2008

Not sure if I'd quite class this is retro yet but it certainly was of a very different generation where we were still using discs, pre-orders meant something and midnight launches existed and were huge! This was an insane year for gaming in terms of quantity and quality and I can't believe many of these games will be turning 15 throughout this year:- - Grand Theft Auto 4 - Metal Gear Solid 4 - Gears of War 2 - Fallout 3 - Burnout Paradise - Dead Space - Far Cry 2 - Fable 2 - Spore - FIFA 09 - Mario Kart Wii - Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - God of War - Mirrors Edge - Crysis Warhead - Battlefield: Bad Company - Need For Speed: Undercover - Call of Duty: World at War - Left 4 Dead - Little Big Planet - Saints Row 2 - Silent Hill Homecoming - Tomb Raider Underworld - C&C Red Alert 3 - Devil May Cry 4 - Valkyria Chronicles - Persona 4 GTA IV's launch was absolutely massive from what I remember and MGS4 was a huge system seller 10 years from the original's release. Fallout 3 took the RPG into 3D and Gears of War 2 continued to build on the Xbox's important exclusive. FIFA was really turning a corner as PES was fumbling its generation transition and Burnout Paradise was great fun on all systems. I probably only picked up a quarter of the list but even that was a huge amount. The PSP and Nintendo DS were really popular although I didn't have neither but the Wii was also selling masses of units and offered something different in terms of audience and interactivity. Spore didn't really live up to its ambitions but was still decent and Mirrors Edge pushed visual and mechanical boundaries. WAW to finish the year off was also nice but many at the time felt the series played itself safe after IW made huge strides after their Modern Warfare gamble with COD 4. Gamers were also spoiled with many having plenty of games from 2007 on the back-burner or still being played such as Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Portal, Crysis, Uncharted, Super Mario Galaxy and The Orange Box plus many more. I honestly don't know how I managed to squeeze so many in during this era!
  6. Doesn't matter who Spurs appoint really - the archaic and out of touch owners need to sell up to make way for someone who can inject proper funding into the club to get with the times. In the past 5 years they've failed to sign players in two transfer windows and when funding has been available, it's been wasted on utter garbage. Some of these players will be very hard to get off books and incredibly expensive to pay off as it is, and then there's probably about 5-9 new faces required. Tottenham are really in a false position in the league and it's a damning reflection of how weak and inconsistent the Prem has been this year. Any other season in the past few and they would be struggling to get a top 7 finish. When I used to go to the lane back in the early to mid 2000's, I saw some god awful managers and players in that time and very little to build around but with players like Kane, Son and Romero, the foundation is being wasted. There's no depth either and I can't see how one manager can turn things around especially when they wouldn't be responsible for half the signings.
  7. Antonio Conte: Tottenham manager leaves after 16 months in charge - BBC Sport WWW.BBC.CO.UK Manager Antonio Conte leaves Tottenham after 16 months in charge and his dismissal comes after he called...
  8. That's quite silly of Sony really. I could understand if they didn't want to burden their content servers when users have purchased on Steam/Xbox but Destiny 2 has players download the entire game with DLC ownership merely acting as an authentication element for content. So even if the user doesn't have DLC on that system, the content is still installed anyway.
  9. Definitely a way bigger demand on PC especially during the open beta but Blizzard should accommodate the anticipated influx. Their servers are notoriously shit and that's why people's frustrations wear thin with them. Diablo 3, Warcraft 3 Reforged and then Diablo 2 Resurrected were all abysmal at launch and beyond so it just feels another taster of what's to come when the game releases. Overwatch was their only game since 2010 which was done right and that's because they dipped into their insane wealth to create a decent server structure but all their other brands are neglected in this respect. The developers are still under the early 2000's impression that people are willing to wait 2 hours to queue to get into one of their prestigious games as a privilege.
  10. I'm actually shocked at how far Italy have fallen. Failed to get to the World Cup and they may even struggle to qualify for the Euros at this rate. Hard to believe they beat us in the final 18 months ago and could now go the same way Holland did. Just goes to show how significant those experienced players were for them. Great result for us though and I'm glad we've found our form after that diabolical and worrying Nations League campaign prior to the World Cup. Channel 4 coverage is so wank though🤣
  11. PC. As soon as I saw the warning on Battlenet about long queue times I knew it would be worse than the closed beta.
  12. I post topics that can be debated rather than just blanket criticisms but if a couple of people interpret that as an insult right off the bat with no consideration to context then any debate is lost. I've said in several threads that I think MW2 is a pretty good game but is let down by some design and post-launch support factors but as soon as I mention those factors, it turns into a 2009-style 'U H8 COD SO UR A HATER OF ALL CAWD GAMEZ' nonsense🤣 Surprisingly the vid he just released where hes being remotely serious is actually pretty spot on. Probably wont sub to him again still but he raises some valid points.
  13. Haven't been able to get in all day today so I just uninstalled the beta. Same old Blizzard with their shitty servers and just like the Diablo 2 fiasco, it will no doubt spill into the full release. Queue times are completely unacceptable and many that have got in have been booted for a variety of technical issues and then put back into 2+ hour wait times. Not gonna be enough time for them to prove that this will stabilise at this late stage of the beta so I'm not gonna spend £50 on a game where I have to queue 37 hours just to get to the login attempt screen.
  14. a) but you always respond here at any criticism of the franchise for game you like b) those two were die hard Battlefield fanboys until Warzone came along. Some of the stuff they used to say about COD… c) Rust in Fortnite was created by community members using the newly released Unreal Engine 5 tools which is a generation game changer hence why it’s called Fortnite Creative 2.0. It wasn’t designed by Epic developers to offend a rival brand lmao. Also ironic about you talking COD maps done to death🤣

  16. Videos are supposed to be watched - the conclusion of context isn't supposed to be determined by the title😂 These are two pretty decent videos from longstanding COD community members including one who plays and produces content daily and is about as honest as they come. Disregarding their entire opinion because you're offended by the video title is rather sad. Both Counter-Strike and Fortnite have put in place some hugely significant and extremely innovative updates which could radically dictate where MP gaming will go in the next 5 years. It's a perfectly fair debate and talking point based on where COD is right now behind the scenes and in terms of its immediate and long-term future. Try not to think every video out there is outright negative and a vendetta against the franchise - even Activision's very own content creator partners are capable of raising concerns on what direction the franchise is going and how they are going to achieve sustainability especially with rival titles making huge strides who are already in a far stronger position in the industry. Neroscinema also raises a huge talking point regarding skins - both Fornite and Counter-Strike allow users to retain their earned and purchased skins at all times whereas COD can wipe out thousands of dollars of user purchases going forward as seen during the Warzone transition. Things like that can have a big impact on the consumer and that's just one aspect that Activision needs to address especially with COD 2023. That's a perfectly fair thing to explore so really not sure why you would dismiss things like that outright because of a title..
  17. Irityll of the Boreal Valley is one of the best locations in gaming!
  18. It's been a very bad week for Call of Duty in the public domain on top of what is already a very miserable period - probably the lowest point since 2016. Epic Games and Valve are really taking things to the next level from a innovative, creative and technical standpoint whilst offering huge long-term benefits to the community. Activision on the other hand are still clambering any available developers to dress up Sledgehammer's DLC as brand new game for later this year. Been saying for a while how important it is to have a clear forwarding strategy not just in terms of content, but on the direction of products and both Fortnite and Counter-Strike are prime examples of how things are being done right. This is why games like that are still growing and breaking records. Infinity Ward are still bug fixing, patching and balancing which sums it up really.
  19. Resident Evil 4 (2005) - environmental attention to detail in this game is absolutely insane!
  20. I also enjoy the variety of content in games he covers - most of his popular videos get millions of views which says it all. Not just fixated on one or two brands either so there's a good range of content to enjoy like this which isn't 10:01 long like some YouTuber's do.
  21. Been subbed to him for many years.
  22. Finally Counter-Strike 2 is real, free, and everything carries over | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Valve has been teasing the community for weeks. Have to get back into this. CSGO is pushing 1.5m players lately so this upgrade will be huge.
  23. Been playing Resident Evil 4 (2005) with HD Project - a 38gb mod that was 8 years in the making, offering improved visuals and many other QOL improvements. You have to download about 18 separate 2gb files and the installer but it's a fairly easy process once everything is downloaded from Mediafire. It's made a world of difference to what was already an iconic game. Still looks absolutely amazing:- Also tried Resident Evil 6 again and it's as bad as I remember. Avoid at all costs!
  24. It's broken for me - I've voted for the 14 games but when I go into the maps, the first 14 are already voted based on the same up/down selection I did for the games. *logged out and went back in and it seems to have fixed itself.
