PS4 System Software 4.00 Will Feature Folders, UI Refresh, More
The3rdWalker replied to The3rdWalker's topic in Hardware
So I was just sent an email to try out 4.0 beta and had it installed. The user interface has some really nice, small and minimalist upgrades that are instantly noticeable. They are taking a page out of Microsoft's Xbox One model with a snap feature for the menu while in a game so it doesn't completely minimize it. After 15 minutes I can say it's a really welcomed change. There are also a few new themes which I enjoy. Here are a few screenshots. -
PS4 System Software 4.00 Will Feature Folders, UI Refresh, More Posted by John Koller on Aug 15, 2016 // Vice President, PlayStation Brand Marketing, SCEA Our beta for PS4’s upcoming 4.00 update, codenamed Shingen, rolls out soon for everyone included in the public beta program. If you signed up and were selected, be on the lookout for an email with instructions on how to download. Whether you’re in the beta or not, we wanted to give everyone a glimpse at some of the new aspects of this system software. We’re refreshing the system UI, adding tools for organization, updating the Quick Menu, and much more. UI Refresh We’ve made a lot of adjustments and improvements to PS4’s main user interface. That includes some changes you may notice right away, like new system backgrounds and a revised What’s New tab, to smaller changes like updated popup notifications and redesigned system icons. As a whole, it all adds up to a more refined and easy to use UI. The overall look and feel of the UI remains the same — it just has a fresh coat of paint. Quick Menu As you know, pressing and holding the PS button on your DualShock 4 brings up the Quick Menu. We’ve overhauled this menu to make it faster and easier to use. One big change is that the menu now only covers a portion of the screen, meaning you don’t need to leave gameplay entirely. We’ve added several new items to the Quick Menu, letting you quickly get info without having to back to the home screen. You can see the online status of your friends, and shortcuts to quickly access your Party, Favorite Groups, Communities, and more. You can also customize the Quick Menu, removing or adding items as you see fit. Share Menu We’ve given a similar overhaul to the Share Menu, which appears once you press the Share button on your DualShock 4. Like the Quick Menu, it only covers a portion of the screen. It will save the last social network you shared video clips or screenshots to, making the process of sharing a screenshot or video a bit faster and more streamlined. You can also upload longer video clips to Twitter (was 10 seconds, now up to 140 seconds). Folders and Library Organization One of the big requests we get is for more options to organize content on PS4. With this update, we’re adding functionality to create folders on PS4’s content launcher and Library. This will help collect your favorite games and select apps in one place for quick and easy access. We’re also making some pretty big changes to the Library. We’ve added a new tab called Purchased, which will show all of the content you own — games, applications, demos, and betas you’ve participated in. As a result, the Games and Applications tabs focus on content currently installed on your system. This should help de-clutter your library, and make it faster to find the content you’re looking for. There are some new sorting tools for your Library as well. You’ll be able to sort content by purchase date or install status, and search for specific games and apps via text input. Trophy Improvements This update brings the ability to view the Trophy offline. You’ll see a new “offline mode” option if your system is unable to connect to the network, letting you view your entire Trophy collection without an Internet connection. We’ve also added a button that will let you view the content of a Hidden Trophy. The Trophy will still be hidden by default, but you can now choose to show the Trophy name and info. Lastly, we’re changing the icons that show how rare a Trophy is. Instead of four boxes that fill, the icon looks like a pyramid with the ultra-rare Trophies at the top. User Profile We’ve updated the look of the User Profile, making it easier to see relevant info for a player at-a-glance. For instance, you can now see your Trophy progress compared with another player right from their profile. You can also add a background image to your own profile — perhaps a screenshot you took in one of your favorite games. The update has even more features that won’t be available in the beta, so stay tuned for additional info on what to expect. We’ll be back with more info on 4.00, including its launch date, in the coming weeks.

If you pick dining room on defend, blow the master bedroom trapdoor. It gives a great view on dining room. However, it is the least favorable spot to defend as there are so many entrance points to the objective. Kill hole behind bookcase(from inside closet) and kill hole in bathroom by toilet provide good crossfire for Master Bed This is a great map for lots of reasons. It's small and has a familiar layout everyone can identify with. But it also has a few problems. Living Room is VERY difficult to defend, there's nothing of real value to turtle up behind in there. Anything you can put your back to can be hit from another angle. That room needs a divider or some kind of cabinet/hutch to create some extra spaces in it to hide behind. Maybe one of the windows can be shuttered too. Main foyer area is super exposed, generally no one enters from that area. Workshop is a problem too, there is nothing to really hide behind in there for defense. Once they blow the large window you can be hit from almost anywhere in the room. the only real place for defense in there is that one corner next to the big window but if you're anywhere else in the room, you're screwed. If you're by the lumber pile it doesn't offer any real protection and during the day the window blinds you if open or at night that damn floodlight blinds you. Master Bedroom and Garage/Weight Room are pretty fun and decent though everyone has the opening gambit on Garage that's the exact same thing every time. Interior cameras are good but exterior valkyrie cameras are better. Does anyone ever use those exterior lift things with the ladders on them? They're supposed to be vantage points for snipers I guess but if you actually used them they'd just be death traps to get shot back from since you can't maneuver anywhere or hide. Plus the one by front door literally can't see anything because of that tree! Despite having several flaws this is still a really fun map overall. I think because we can all identify with it so easily plus it's not too big so firefights are intense. It also has some of the best destructibility compared to other non DLC maps.

This new series has been created to facilitate the gameplay, metagame, and strategy discussion that often gets buried or lost in the abundance of others posts that flood this sub. The goal of this series is to not only give new players a primer on a specific map, but also for midlevel or competitive players a chance to share the knowledge that they have accrued in their experiences and maybe let people know something that they did not know before. Today's map is House. Iceycat's House Tips & Tricks Serenity17 House Guide House Wiki The community has outlined a couple of things that they want to converse about with every map, but feel free to branch out should you feel a piece of information warrants its own discussion. Overall map and team strategies for attacking & defending. Secret areas, kill holes, and other techniques that can be used on the map. The best operators to use on the map and different abilities that work & don't work with this map. What strategies have you adopted while playing this map? What is something that a new player should know when playing this map, or what is something you know that would help a veteran player take that next step? Does the map offer an unfair advantages to attackers or defenders? Will Epi ever give us a release date for Bartlett University? What is your overall opinion of this map?

Stop shooting the first window you see on the approach with her gadget. Open up castle doors or unreinforced walls from a distance. Her best maps seem to be House and Kanal with Oregon and Club House close behind . Ash also is great at holding an objective once in place not many can compete with her in 1 vs 1 .
-
The operator’s primary or ideal role in the team Ash is well known as one of the quickest entry fraggers and best entry fraggers. Due to her very small hit boxes and incredible speed, she is really hard to hit. Not even nitro cells or smoke bombs can stop her from coming in a room. Being that high speed operator, she can also quickly rotate from one spot to another if it gets too hot. The operator’s gadget and how it will help the team achieve its goals. This gadget is mostly used to make a clear way without being hindered. So either to open up a castle wall, or barbed wire or a non-reinforced wall. There are many ways, but it's best used to benefit the team. The operator’s loadout, and how best to optimize it. The best choice is the R4-C. It's high damage is great against enemies. Once you learn the recoil of it, you're a god. The G36C is a more easier gun to use with less damage. Sometimes I use the G36C with holo sight in CQB maps. But usually the R4-C is the go-to gun for Ash. I use the USG pistol for now, but I might switch to the Meusoc. The difference is just that the 5.7 USG has more bullets and less damage, giving you a safer fight if you ever had to draw out your pistol. Meusoc has way less bullets but more damage, so you have to hit all shots (or headshot). Breaching charges I use only in solo queue casual. For teamplay it's always recommended to use grenades, certainly the smoke. If there is a non-reinforced wall or castle barricade. Just use your primary gadget. Smoke is useful not only for you, but also for your team to push into the objective. What maps and game modes does this operator do well on? Like in all my other posts. Game modes have no impact on operators if you know how to use the operators well. Maps, Ash does well in maps where there is limited cover for the enemy team so she can easily rush in and take out the defenders in their common hiding spots. Maps like Chalet, Club House, House,... What maps and game modes does this operator struggle with? Same with game modes as previous. Ash struggles with maps where there are big rooms with a lot of cover, she also struggles with smaller maps with a lot of close quarter combat because she can easily be denied by shotguns. Maps like Favelas, Border, Kafe Dostoyevsky, ... What teammates synergize well with this operator? A very common tactic is to let Ash move in with Blackbeard, when Blackbeard draws the attention, Ash can move in and slaughter the enemy. Other then that, she does well with any team. Because for now, she's still considered the best fast entry fragger (I wonder if Capitao might take over that role). What opposing operators check or counter this operator? Kapkan and Frost can slow down or even deny Ash in her rush. Ash's like to just open up a barricade and vault through it, or rush over a deployable shield. If there is a frost trap or kapkan trap that Ash didn't notice or she's too busy checking for/shooting enemies. She's dead. Shotguns as well do really well in stopping her in her tracks, as well as pulse. Either again, Pulse denies her, or if Ash is careful enough, she can hear the Pulse and hold back from coming in. What strategies have you adopted while playing this operator? What is something that a new player should know * when playing this operator, or what is something you know that would help a veteran player take that next step? Like i've seen in the comments, don't use her gadget on wooden barricades, it's useless, you can use it for barbed wire or castle barricades instead. Smoke is a really good way of entry fragging into a room, or dropping into a room, use it! If a hatch is not reinforced, better use your gadget on it, you never know what kind of pulse is waiting for you, or there's a valkyrie camera there. What is your overall opinion of this operator? Where would you rank them among the other operators? Among the operators, she is the best. In season 2 pro league she had a higher pick rate than Thermite (Thermite had 98% and Ash 100%) I don't know if she'll stay there with the new operator Capitao, but I think she will.

No Man's Sky has a game-breaking exploit
The3rdWalker replied to GazzaGarratt's topic in RPG / Action / Adventure
That huge exploit/ dupe method to farm in game items is insane. Apparently it takes around an hour or two to get a single Atlas stone. Now you can get 5 in about 30 minutes so people are essential in "the end game" -

Now the question is will they roll back accounts. -
I am very impressed with this video. I didn't care for the first one at all. This looks like a solid direction for Titanfall.

So for the first few years I had the Sony Gold Wireless headset and they were a quality build and worth the money. However, I switched to Astros and it made the Sony Golds sound like I was listening to an old radio for a decade. For the money I don't believe you can beat the sound quality and comfort of Astros.

And after the shotgun nerf gets rolled out, people will remember about the MPX, which is basically the best SMG that can't use an acog. General Tips: With good communication, she's a fantastic bonus to her team, even when dead. Don't mark/spot with cameras unless you have a very good reason to do so. You get them destroyed. Her MPX is a great SMG, with a high rate of fire and great accuracy; it's ideal for headshots and drone-hunting. her shotgun is not quite as good as Frost's Super 90, but it's pretty decent too. You always want to be running nitro cells with Valkyrie, both for shield operators, but also for camera-based ambushes, and wallbang traps. Put cameras in unexpected or camouflaged(Neon lights nearby are good. Colourful eye-candy like decorated xmas trees are too.) places so they don't get noticed, but ideally have a good field of view. Don't put them in overlapping or too-close-to-each-other locations, as this just makes them redundant. (Covering the same room from multiple angles CAN be useful, but putting two cameras next to each other is just silly.) You also want to generally have cameras be outside of the areas you want to defend, looking inwards. This leaves them at the backs of attackers generally, and makes them more difficult to notice and riskier(having to turn away from defenders) to deal with. Get your cameras up before the prep phase is complete, but try to avoid getting watched by drones as you do it. Unless you have a good spot in mind, consider reserving 1 camera for your own use: you can plunk it down to cover your rear, or to watch around corners or setup traps. Ideally don't throw that one too high, so you can recover it and move on afterwards. Valkyrie traps. Besides knowing where someone is, and then running up to flank them with gunfire or a nitro, you can also fire through walls similar to how Pulse operates. or lay a nitro somewhere you figure someone will be walking, watch on camera, and then detonate when they do. (The best way of doing this is to put the nitro on the ceiling below the floor you expect someone on, and watch them on camera for someone to walk over it. Detonate for 1+ kills.) Walls work too, but are less likely to have someone up close to the blast, though you can definitely catch people trying to plant breaching charges this way. Valkyrie's cameras can also be thrown outside the interior of buildings, so you have more visibility outside. This cannot be done in prep phase however, as the red walls make your camera's bounce off. If you see Valkyrie has ripped open a window somewhere, do not re-barricade it unless she's ran off elsewhere as prep phase ends, as she's wanting to throw a camera outside. Valkyrie is also really good in combination with certain operators, namely Tachanka and Caveira.

L85 is a solid all rounder AR, smg 11 pocket sniper is deadly, frags, 25 breaches with his hammer, and 2/2 armor/speed. A downside is that he can't sprint with his hammer out and it takes longer to put it away after a swing.

Don't let drones see you place your traps. If they do, destroy the drone(s) and move your trap to another door/window. (Bonus points if the drones don't ID you at all) Don't place a trap on a door/window that has a Castle barricade on it. Use sunlight to your advantage. On some maps, creating a hole in a barricade allows sunlight to come through, effectively masking the laser of your trap if done properly. Rooms with red light are your secret weapon. Red light makes your trap laser almost IMPOSSIBLE to see, so remember to place traps down in/near red light if possible. Don't place your traps in the objective room. Seriously, often times the doors and windows in the objective room will go down when the attacking team is pushing, leaving the red laser exposed unless some idiot on the enemy team just charges in. Just don't.
