A challenge, but certainly feasible. They'd have to split the planet up into instanced zones, and the map data would have to be hosted serverside, streaming to the end user as they move around the world and stored in a temp cache on your local machine. Depending on the quality of the map, I'd say about 100tb+, which for a project like this, is nothing. Imagine the possibilities! Obviously it'd require a permanent connection to stream the content, and the combat would have to be turn based or slow a-la WoW, but with the right motivation and finances, this could be a very interesting project to follow. I support this 100%, it's about time the gaming industry took a fucking huge leap again. -
Just like planking and all those other dumb fucking attention seeking things, this is just another fad which will last as long as the idiots feed it, and blow over when the next stupid thing comes along.

There's a limit to how many vids can be posted in one post. This is to save bandwidth for folks like me who browse on a mobile device quite a bit and have download limits on their phones. Excellent post though, well done sir!

Wow, you must be starving! //T'was great playing with you lot again. I'll be honest and say I had no idea where I was most of the time, but thanks to you lot I'm now pretty well decked out and even combat ready, should it come to that. I hope Dean expands on the game a bit more. We really need the ability to build a base, even if it's just tents. Vehicles would be great, as would hunting, but a base gets priority for me. I love the spray cans everywhere. It's be awesome if you could actually tag stuff so others know you were there, although this would probably add quite a bit of strain to the server/client comms. Still gotta say that Dean and Co have done an excellent job on this. It's not perfect, but it certainly blows any other alpha I've ever played right out the water.

If she's paranoid she probably isn't using her browser as a relay, in which case you've got nothing to worry about. If she's stupid, she might be unknowingly, but I doubt it. I could run a billion TOR clients and still play a hundred different game with no lag. This isn't her, it's your shitty connection. What router have you got? And what's the exact problem? Disconnects? Lag? Slow? What's your browsing like, is that also slow or just gaming? Run a speedtest.net a few times for me. Different times of day, different days, etc etc. Note how many people are using the connection at the time. Also run a pingest.net and let me know what your jitter and packet loss is.
