So far, my biggest issue with this is trying to get online, and the servers are full. 2 nights in a row for me in the EST timezone. I hope they increase their server size soon.

You should use it mate. Its really so easy as we've used the FG Game Room discord chat within seconds onto the PS5 and its just as, if not clearer than PS5 party chats. I'm here atm. I'm just trying to work out if I can do that because I have a feeling it will drop a little soon too. If Helldivers and Sony can't sort the max capacity servers out in the short term then this could push me into this sooner.

Server situation is completely unacceptable right now. Was really hoping to pick it up but there were apparently hundreds of thousands of users who couldn't get in all weekend and the servers were also overwhelmed with AFKers clogging up the joint. Server capacity was also capped at 450,000 yet Steam had a peak of 330.000 accessing the services. If they are going to go down the live service route so they can attach their shitty microtransaction plague of a store then they really need to cope with the demand or keep the game local only with P2P and basic online service access. Servers in this day and age for a game of this nature should be expecting between 2-5m active players so capping at less than half a million is a joke and it's not like it's release weekend either. Very poor showing.

Such a shame. I'd like to go back to it but not really sure what i'd be doing other than just seeing the story through. Another game had thats stalled and gone backwards after sprinting ahead to the 50 metre point.

I'm glad to see some of you are having fun with it. I'm interested, but I just can't warrant dropping that much money on another live service game. I wish gamepass and ubisoft+ were linked.

Agree with you on the combat. It didn't feel great at all, but serviceable to what you had to do. I'm looking forward to the next entry. I also wouldn't mind seeing a Control sequel.

I’ve seen it getting bashed but honestly, Matt, Cal, Aaron, Marc and I have all really been enjoying it so far, guess it just comes down to taste like with everything else in the end. I have to admit I love the party system as you can be in a group but all 3 of you can be doing different things should you want to, but all of you still get rewards for quests/missions done by anyone in the group. My one gripe so far which made crossplay with Marc a tiny bit annoying is that there’s no game chat what so ever. So would have to link psn and discord I guess. Not had too many bugs so far, been the odd one every now and then but compared to other games close to release this is nothing. (Thank fuck it’s not another cyberpunk)

I just beat the story for Alan Wake 2 last night! Overall, I enjoyed the experience, however I did find the combat to be quite clunky and unsatisfying. I actually much preferred the combat in the original Alan Wake. I actually didn’t like Saga’s mind place as much as I was hoping. Alan’s plot board was a little better but still not quite what I was hoping for. The visuals are phenomenal and I loved the way they used live action footage, Remedy are definitely the masters of this right now! The voice acting is also fantastic for basically every character in the game! Speaking of characters, I really enjoyed all the new characters, and the reoccurring ones! Saga Anderson is great and hopefully a staple in the series going forward. The story is … great! But it’s a real mindfu**! Obviously this game is part of the RCU (Remedy Connected Universe), so has links to Control. You can play Alan Wake 2 as its own game, but it definitely helps to play Alan Wake and Control first. It’s the kind of story which leaves you with more questions than answers, and it wants to come up with your own theories about what has happened and why it’s happening. I’m really hoping there are others here on the site that have beat the game, as it’s definitely a game that you could spend hours debating and theorising! Anyone played it and have their thoughts? If I had to put a score on it, I would give it an 8.5/10!

It's so weird that you say this as I reinstalled it on Friday. @techno and I were gonna have a little play but a 132gb download quickly put an end to that. It's fully updated and ready to go though, maybe I'll even put something in the calendar for Friday. I'm so bored of cod it's unreal. I even subbed to WoW for a month to see if that would keep me busy but after running a few dungeons I'm just bored again. Helldivers 2 looks ace but my days of spending cash on games that get played a few times and then get abandoned are done, I'm only spending cash on stuff I really intent to get stuck in to. I really wish Playstation would give trial periods of games, even just an hour to get a feel for it is usually enough. Whilst I agree that it’ll be good for PS5 owners, I think it’s important to consider that IF Microsoft/Xbox do pull out of the console hardware market, then who challenges PlayStation? What’s stopping Sony from charging £700 for the PS6? Nintendo aren’t really trying to compete at the high end powerful console level, so it would just be PlayStation. Xbox are in a really difficult position, by focusing so much on Game Pass they have cornered themselves into this position. Particularly with a lot of their most popular franchises being multiplayer (Gears, Halo, now COD), these games benefit from having a large player base … best way to get that is to have them on all consoles. We need to see what Xbox say about these rumours next week, but right now I am worried for the future of the video games market if this is all true.

I finished this one up the other day. It was a decent run, but I encountered a side quest bug that prevented me from getting all the achievements. They claim it's been patched, but that's only for people who start a new game post-patch. Wtf? We can't just fix the fucking issue period? Oh well. I likely won't be playing through this one again. As with the typical Ubisoft games, they have way too much bloat with collectibles, lore items, and such. Plus, with the aforementioned side quest bug, I was turned off from playing the game period. I'm a completionist for Metroidvanias, and when I couldn't finish the quest, I wanted to just shut it down, delete it, and start something else. It also didn't help that the story didn't hook me in, or was interesting enough to keep me invested. If the combat had been dogshit, this would've been an easy "Don't recommend." A lot of what I said in my previous post stands too, so I'll recommend you fine folks wait either for a sale, or when this game inevitably drops on either ubisoft+, game pass, or becomes a PS plus extra game. There's no real replay value IMO, and with the story being "meh", puts this in a bargain bin.

So it's a co-op building game...clearly I'm in and I'm assuming @Tar-Eruntalion and @crispymorgan will be interested. I know @Bluebear mentioned he was too. I even think @RenFengge will be on board after she finishes baldur's gate 3. Thoughts?

If folk are still playing it on a week or so, and everything has settled down I'll probably pick it up. Not a massive fan of 3rd person but if done right I'm ok. Gears and Division games were fine and I've heard the player movement is decent. PS5 or PC though 🤔

I haven't heard or seen anything about this one, which is weird. Although, a few other games have exploded and took over the internet over the last month. Compared to Valheim, where would you put it?

I'd be happy if these came across. I've wanted us all to play Sea of Thieves more but you can see how people's behaviour means that we don't play it much on PC. If it comes to PS5 then you should see an increase on that for sure. One of the best live service games out there. Grounded was great too when we played it on PC for a while. Hopefully more fleshed out now given it was some years ago. For cloud gaming...well, we'll just have to see. New youth of today get games through everything now, even Netflix. I don't hear many people playing them on there but that doesn't mean they don't get played. It'll be interesting as Google Stadia burned and failed so the gaming consumers have rebuffed the first round with many rounds to go I see.

Cheers Chad, sounds like one to wait until it gets to £20. Maybe £25. Its not much more but theres enough on other games to keep me going until that sale inevitably happens. I'll still look forward to it though given your reviews on gameplay.

😂 Like I said it’s not the game I deep down was hoping for but it’s still better than expected. Really enjoying it so far, co-op makes things a million times better than roaming the seas solo as battles you would probably lose are doable now. Got Matty up to a decent level yesterday and we actually managed to take down an elite captain, (almost took down another one as well but we failed 😅) So yeah I’m definetly enjoying it, beats raging at games like cod or fifa for sure. Still haven’t even explored every bit of the map that’s unlocked so far. Did get to progress the black market a decent bit and figured out a way to make the grind there much easier. Again I’m asuming co-op play will make it even easier when it comes to the combat. Took down the sea monster on my own as well which was terrifying as it hits like a truck on steroids. Still need to try the pvp bit. Currently just trying to grind out some better cannons and armor for my ship.

I had heard that as well but I don't really understand where that has come from. There are sort of like 2 battle passes, 1 which is free and earned in game, the other is paid for (but you do earn the currency through general play and the free battle pass). The guns on the paid for option have been compared with those you get on the free and everything is fairly well balanced.

Defo, not pay to win. Microtransactions feel very minor and not really game impacting. The grind is the same for all regardless 👍

I may pick up on payday if folk are finding it decent, was waiting for real feedback as I'd heard it has a bit of pay to win...but if the grind is fun then let me know 🤗

Was reading up on the trophies a couple weeks ago and it seems they've done something similar to modern warfare 3 with 3 platinums for the ps4 and no platinums for the ps5 now I'm not saying every hame should have one but surely as its on both systems surely both should have them if not then I would of thought having just the ps5 would of been the better option.

I have to agree I think it’ll be a bad thing if Microsoft go the streaming way only and stop making consoles. Sony always have that motivation/challenge from Microsoft to keep developing the best console and games and if no one is challenging them, then the quality could go down.

Im keeping an eye on this whole situation, there are a couple of xbox games I would love to see on ps5, especially forza horizon

There's really not much new in this space aside from the above. I'd probably say Remnant 2 which is a cross between The Division and Bloodborne.

I've been making my way through this when @Rumelylady isn't cleaning a playground on Powerwash Sim, and it's been pretty decent so far. I like all the case boards, and connecting the dots with crimes. Wake has a writer's board that functions similarly but allows him to "change the story" which essentially shifts the environments to get further. Visually, it looks amazing from top to bottom. They do an excellent job utilizing light sources that boarders on damn near realistic. I also dig the real-life cinematics throughout the game so far. Remedy knows their shit when it comes to that. The voice acting is great as usual. So far so good.
