  1. Now that 2024 is here, I thought it would be fun to have a little Forever Gaming competition! I haven’t come up with a fancy name yet so I’m just calling it the OpenCritic Challenge 2024! The concept is simple, everyone who wants to take part predicts what they think the final OpenCritic score of the below list of games will be. Each player gets points based on how close their prediction is. The scoring system goes like this: Exact score - 5 points 1 score away - 3 points 2 scores away - 2 points 3 scores away - 1 point 10 or more points away - -2 points! For example, if you had predicted that Alan Wake 2 would score a 90 on OpenCritic, you would receive 3 points, as it scored an 89. Similarly, if you had predicted it would score a 78, you would lose 2 points. For those who may be unfamiliar with OpenCritic, it is a website that collects review scores from all the major review outlets and calculates an aggregate score. Hopefully there will be some interest to join in with this, I have listed the 2024 releases below, just copy and paste the list and add your scores. I will keep score and keep you updated throughout the year. If a game on the list ends up being delayed to 2025, we will just remove it from the predictions. Obviously there will be games coming out this year that haven’t been announced yet, if every participant is happy to do so we can add them in as and when they are announced and we can submit our predictions then. I haven’t added remasters, as chances our they will score similarly to their original release and becomes too easy to predict. Remakes have been included if they are a substantial enough remake, for example the Final Fantasy Rebirth game is a significant remake. Feel free to let me know if you disagree and we can collectively decide to remove them or add other ones. I am going to be recording a video for my YouTube channel discussing my predictions, if it’s ok with you I will discuss some other predictions as well as mine to make it interesting. If you would rather me not mention your predictions (I would only be using your username from the site, no real names) then just let me know when you submit your predictions. This is just for fun, no awards for winning. Unless anyone can think of a good idea for the prize, maybe a new Forever Gaming Badge? Last point, as the first game on this list releases on February 2nd, all entries will need to be submitted by the 28th January (I don’t think reviews for Suicide Squad will be out until 29th at the earliest). Also worth pointing out I haven’t added every single game releasing, there’s just too many! Here is the list, I will submit my predictions below. Good Luck! Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League - Foamstars - Helldivers 2 - Skull and Bones - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - Alone in the Dark - Dragons Dogma 2 - Princess Peach: Showtime - Rise of the Ronin - South Park: Snow Day - Black Myth: Wukong - STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl - Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 - Star Wars Outlaws - Little Nightmares 3 - Avowed - Towerborne - Hellblade 2: Senuas Saga - Indiana Jones -

  3. This could be fun, I wonder if @GazzaGarratt could do this as a prediction league through the FG site as well? I think mine would be - Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League - 64 Foamstars - 72 Helldivers 2 - 86 - I think this will be a surprise hit Skull and Bones - 74 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - 86 It will do well but I feel like the series is riding on it's highs of yesteryear still. Alone in the Dark - 68 Dragons Dogma 2 - 84 Princess Peach: Showtime - 88 (Again it will do well cuz nintendo fanboys I think) Rise of the Ronin - 78 South Park: Snow Day - 72 Black Myth: Wukong - 82 STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl - 80 Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 - 75 Star Wars Outlaws - 90 Little Nightmares 3 - 80 Avowed - 78 Towerborne - 76 Hellblade 2: Senuas Saga - 88 Indiana Jones - 78

  5. A few of us have played before but on PC. Game would be much bigger if it was multi platform. Just a shame party sizes are so small. If Skull & Bones turns out decent I'd say more would end up playing that on PS

  6. So, out of curiosity and with remakes and remasters being front and centre of most new releases. If you could have a true remake of any video game (and it has yet to be done) what would it be? There are 2 for me, Final Fantasy IX (and there are rumours of this) and Skull Caps, the latter being a strategy game that I loved for a spell when I was younger. It was simple and great fun to play!

    FG Friday - Among Us!

To keep FG Friday's going, @Macca89 was keen for us to play Among Us the other week but I think it was a bit short notice. Let's see if we can get a few of us together for this one! Also, make sure to have some alcohol in the house as I imagine this game and alcohol go down well together! Don't forget the game is crossplay too so no excuse for anyone not on current gen!

  8. Rather than choosing my favourite and most iconic classic, I'm gonna select ones that would benefit and warrant more of a remaster. I'll also avoid games where I wouldn't be confident in finding a developer that could do the original justice. I'd firstly say Command and Conquer: Generals. Shocked this hasn't been remastered or remade to a degree as it's a rare RTS that combines real world elements and is still immensely popular. EA gave us a solid remastering of the original and Red Alert almost 4 years ago but nothing since. Even a basic remaster with QoL changes and modern support would be huge and a massive win for the genre. Lastly I will choose Resident Evil Code Veronica. I am confident this will be announced soon and it's the next logical one in Capcom's largely successful reboots. CV was a great game back on the Dreamcast and a huge step up visually compared to the likes of RE2 on the PS1. It had some massive flaws but these could easily be rectified. Those two I would be very happy with and that's about it off the top of my head. Max Payne 1 & 2 are confirmed in development by Remedy now which is absolutely huge as the series is coming home to a developer who is getting better and better. I would've said that otherwise as long as Rockstar had no business in it but they are in the works it seems.

    The Finals

@MrBiron if you plan an FG event or something I would be interested. I gave it a go with 2 friends last night and it's actually quite good fun, we even won a few matches as the night went on! I must admit, it is chaotic at times but it is great fun dropping bombs and such on buildings with enemy players in and just watching it collapse around them!

This finally has a release date, September 5th. Bit longer than I hoped but hopefully worth the wait...

  12. Just giving this a nudge as there are rumours swirling that Microsoft are looking to bring a few more games to Playstation and Switch, one of them being Sea of Thieves - Sea of Thieves coming to PS5 could bring everyone aboard WWW.TRUETROPHIES.COM Sea of Thieves PS5 rumors suggest Microsoft's pirate adventure might commandeer Sony consoles in a move that would benefit both... Be interesting if so, it would show Microsoft are moving away from a dedicated console I think with a focus more on the service side of things, does it lean in towards the cloud future in that they don't see the consoles being quite as important anymore as Sony still view them? And if it does come to PS, would it interest anyone here to pick it up?

  14. I do hope they ditch the "tank" controls, and have a more modern movement style. Much like how Metroid Prime remastered added the dual stick controls, I feel this series of games would benefit from it.

  15. I do want to jump straight on to the 2nd but will be going through them in order. I'm all for remasters but it's the remakes as I find they have modernised them for today's gamers not the generation that grew up playing them.

  16. Made a thread about this last year but not much new information has come to light since. It's nice that Embracer have decided not to hold all their IP's they bought off Square Enix under ransom but the interest in this seems quite dry and games like Uncharted have far surpassed in narrative and mechanics. You can also buy the original Tomb Raider trilogy in the Steam sales for £2.49 so this will probably be a hard sell and lots of users already emulate these via Duckstation. It really depends on how well the games are modernised without losing the original feel but I dunno if the OG mechanics will translate well.
