Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
Riff Machine and one other reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
This came out of nowhere! Coming to all systems including the Switch next February. Wont be an easy game to modernise but for £25 it could be a great package that offers 30+ hours of gameplay.2 points -

@Rumelyladystarted playing the other day. She's been enjoying it, but it hasn't been really sucking her in. We'll see if she sticks with it. I'm gonna start soon, honest, I swear!!!2 points -

As I like the remaster of the first tomb raider on the ps3 I'll most likely pick this up but main reason is the remaster of the second game which In my eyes was the best out of the franchise.1 point -

If its priced at the right amount, which should be £20-25 then people will buy it to experience that feeling again due to not having that console of choice any longer. If you've played it before then I'd agree on getting the cash - you would give it away for next to nothing for original owners if you could. Whilst gameplay might, there are some old games, like this one, that has some unique challenges that people who didn't play Tomb Raider back in the day could find fun to play. Especially ones that can't afford full priced games. Still think you're right on the other part though lol. The old Tomb Raider games will still sit in my fun zone so I won't be dissing the gameplay on it.1 point -
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered

This isn't going to be modernised, it's being remastered so everythings going to be the same just look a little less pixelated I reckon. I feel like PS1 era games are where some studios are going to come unstuck with all these remasters, the original 3d graphics are very blocky and not particularly pleasant to look at in most instances and this is definately going to be one of those games that really falls down. You can get away with remastering 2d titles and anything from the 360 / PS3 era but I don't see it working with most PS1 titles. I wonder if this is one of those projects that Square started as it seems like their sort of thing to do at the moment and Crystal Dynamics have decided to complete the project, it really does smack of a cash grab though.1 point -

It wasn't the guns, it was the ammo. Far too much of it, if every trigger pull involved skme serious decision making it'd be much better and immersive. Like when you get your first guns on DayZ. But ammo was everywhere which just trivialized everything. Pity.1 point -

Glad you're enjoying it! I did a lot of the ranger story but now seems bugged for me. I can't turn in the third tablet to the guy to progress. It shows up that I can press "e" but then just doesn't work. I've tried multiple things and nothing, so I moved in to the mantis story which was cool and now I'm at the end of the UC/Crimson fleet story. I've not progressed the main line really either. Since base building pisses me off right now, I focused on ship building! I'm now able to fly class C and built a sweat destroyer ship along with a few others.1 point -

I heard some mixed reviews @Riff Machine , so it seemed not all bad. One of those free to play, give it a go games that has some early potential but no staying power because it needs some constant updates/work to progression systems. Hard market to crack that one.1 point -

I've been told off for my lack of Starfield discussion, sorry daddy Garratt 😔😂 @TurboR56Mini @phil bottle No review yet because I honestly feel like I've not played the game enough at... *looks at Steam* nigh on 70 hours! As always with a BSG game, the UI on PC is absolutely gash, but there's been mods coming out to fix the massive inventory items taking up all the screen space etc already. On the whole, I'm enjoying it! I had always tempered my expectations with regards to the 'space' part of the game, knowing that it was still running on Creation engine, and it's pretty much what I expected (you load into a 'cell' in orbit, and fast travel into a different planet's orbit 'cell' if you go to another planet etc). There have been some people playing around and it does look like that the cells on the planets are linked together at least, but from all accounts it's literally a cell per PIXEL of the planets surface and the game does not like it when you start going past boundaries, probably floating point errors the further you get away from the centre of that starting cell. Not played too much of the main story, but the sidemissions are very good in terms of writing/quality. Having fun with some of the individual location ones but have also just started the Rangers storyline, so I'll report back with wot I think later. I've actually been genuinely interested in finding out about companion's backstories (just the people at Constellation so far from what I can tell), which is rare in a Bethsoft game! They're not just pack mules after all (Well they are, because inventory management is awful in this game at the moment but I digress). As Karl said, the outpost building is bloody annoying. I've been absolutely raging at not bring able to place smaller items on the right rotation that I want (apparently there's an option to turn down the speed in menus @TurboR56Mini!). And then we get to stuff like the storage containers that are massive, only being able to store 75 units worth of material. Bizarre. Also those like to snap to everything but where you're trying to put them. The way the transfer of items between outposts works is a bit opaque at the moment too, I need to have an experiment with those but I keep running out of storage space for materials because building in your base only considers resources in your personal inventory OR in the big storage containers. Ship inventory or anything in small storage chests etc do not count, which is bloody annoying when you had to dump everything into them only to find the titanium that you needed to build more containers is in a bloody chest on your outpost but not part of the accessible inventory AUGH 🤬 There's also a strange lack of choice with hab modules and air locks, and even stuff like a lack of foundations to put stuff on (maybe I need to put points into outpost building to see them, but odd they wouldn't be a basic item if so). The game itself looks beautiful, despite running everything on a GTX1070 and all settings on Low. I just can't wait until I can splurge on a new card and I can finally see this and CP2077 in their full glory. I have noticed the game is very CPU demanding, as a few mates of mine have been having issues with stutters with their older CPUs (4th gen i5s etc). Luckily I had upgraded earlier this year to an i5-12600k (from the venerable i5-3570k no less, godspeed 🫡), so I've not been having any issues.1 point -

I've seen similar comments from the same folks who shit on NMS when it was launched. It was too open, not enough detail, too much RNG, blah blah. Not a shot at you at all but it feels like nothing will make everyone happy. As a lover of space games, I'm enjoying it for what it is, a massively large single-player game with no mico transactions, which is all but a dead breed. We should all want this game to do well because if it doesn't, we will all be stuck with the 34th iteration of the same shit with COD, FIFA, whatever bullshit Destiny is up to, and all the same from mind-numbing MMOs. As always, some will love, some will hate, and some will just appreciate the time, effort, and overall skill involved with producing a game like this. I love this game, No Man's Sky, and Elite Dangerous, space is always the hardest genre to do because of its expansiveness. Appreciate the pov and remember, we are all living in an illusion.1 point -

So I have played a few hours on the Series S now and about 2 on the ROG, first impressions are really good, it does feel quite fallout esque to me just without the VATS, I think I have dived right into sidequests, the main story I had not interest in almost immediately lol but the side content seem's quite good and fun. The fact it's not open does not bother me, it feels a bit Mass effect in that regard but it never bothered me then and won't bother me now. I love the setting, I'm just in the first city you come to at the moment but still see me being there for hours yet as I seem to have about 10-12 side quests already and I'm quite happy pottering about and exploring Atlantis. The xbox is handling it pretty well so far as I can see and the lack of the extra power from the Series X does not bother me. The combat's pretty fluid for a Bethesda game, it's certainly more refined and improved over previous titles. The ROG also handles it pretty well, I had a couple of slowdowns but I think it was updating in the background, on the whole though it handles the game well. I think the only thing I have not liked so far is the film grain, it seems a bit over the top and I have ended up turning it off completely.1 point -

I managed to secure a refund in the end. Disappointed but massively relieved! Biggest issue I had was the lack of exploration - go to ship > cutscene > sit down > cutscene > loading screen > press space > cutscene > map > click > cutscene > loading screen > exit seat > loading screen > resume within points of interest areas. Comparable indie titles such as No Mans Sky and Outer Wilds - go to ship > sit in cockpit > activate manual controls > manually fly to destination > land anywhere > turn off engine > exit seat > leave ship manually > walk anywhere. Bethesda's design formula just looks so limited and outdated for me. I honestly thought I wouldn't mind it being a fan of their previous works but it's just got too old and archaic for my liking as is the basic interactions which are quite frankly pathetic compared to Baldur's Gate 3 which was made in less time. Starfield is basically a fragmented open world game where you visit scaled down areas under the illusion of this unlimited universe which is merely made up of menu screens and tiresome loading and cutscenes. The immersion just died every time I walked into a building and I was met with yet another loading screen. Nowhere near as seamless as the developers initially portrayed. They are either deluded or as dishonest as they've always been.1 point -

Oh, and FUCKING SNAPPING or lack there of in building, drives me up a god damn wall. It's worse than the monitor thing. All the cool shit to build and absolutely no snapping to a world grid capability. It's infuriating and makes me want to punch things. Yes, I apparently have some OCD and yes, I love the game Satisfactory!!!!1 point -

Yea i'm doing side quests and playing around in the shipbuilder, since I keep getting my shit pushed in on the main one as I jump into a system and get borked by 3 ships.... As of last night, I'm now a Ranger! I've also sent up my first tiny mining outpost for aluminum. Will be doing an Iron one next. I think I'm running on ultra on a 3080 and it's not nearly as hot as playing 7DTD so I'm happy with that. It really feels like an ultra-extended space fallout which I'm good with. Still trying to figure out the mechanics as there is some automation and factory production in the game too. Lots to figure out! Up to 3 ships at the moment too.1 point -

Peasant launch 🙂. I was not going to get the pre-release until I saw it came with the expansion. That, and it let me play a day and change early after my long weekend so I said fuck it, will be buying it on Steam for the mods anyway! I did see @Bluebear playing quite a bit, no review, no word, no nothing... tisk tisk Nick.1 point
