Battlefield Levolution
Luseth and one other reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
Found this incredible compilation of all the levolution events and destruction in Battlefield games since 2011. Some of these still look absolutely spectacular especially the BF4 ones a decade on. Remarkably impressive technically even now and they look and sound incredible! Got a bit limited since BF1 and really started to feel flat up to 2042. Despite the silly terminology, these destructible elements added so much and even radically changed maps on the fly. DICE were really at their peak with things like this and I think it was taken for granted a bit back in the day and largely went unappreciated because we assumed that this is how gaming should be and where it expected to be now. Battlefield 2042 even after all the work still remains soulless and bland in this respect and it’s levolution events amount of mere inconvenience most of the time. I really hope the next Battlefield game goes back to these roots. No more WW2 titles or gimmick futuristic ones. BF3 and 4 just oozed unmatched atmosphere and detail.2 points -
Battlefield Levolution
GazzaGarratt and one other reacted to Luseth for a topic
I think as with a lot of big developers, they lost sight of the core fan base. They are the fans you want to keep on side at all times because without them your game would not exist and won't exist in the future. They have tried multiple times now to capture audiences of COD, fornite etc by bringing in their stupid battle royale modes on one hand or increasing the map & player number sizes exponentially. But these are things the fan base never asked for or wanted. In fact the thing that really put me off Dice / EA this time around was blaming other games and developers, in fact they even blamed Covid. If I remember rightly Halo was blamed because the two games launched around the same time and Halo was incredibly polished while Battlefield wasn't, I mean well fekkin release a polished game then instead of the turd they did release. That said the real issue was the direction they went, it had nothing to do with what was going on in the world, they again tried to do something that no one wanted all because they keep seeing green dollar signs (pushed by EA). All most battlefield players ever wanted was more of the same, more explosions, more destruction etc etc and instead we got a couple of tornados that you could fly around with your wingsuit..... Feel like fortnight much?2 points -
Ubisoft Suspending/Deleting ‘Inactive’ Accounts

Absolute bellends Your Ubisoft account can be suspended and subsequently permanently deleted for 'inactivity,' taking your games library with it | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM I have no idea when I last logged into my Ubisoft account. Maybe if they made some decent fucking games once in a long while, it would give gamers an incentive to actually login and use their shitty services.2 points -

Dele Alli Interview
Luseth reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
A superb interview from Neville to Alli. It speaks volumes on just how any one of us can having something going on in the background so trying not to judge and perceive everything on face value is pretty critical I think these days. No one should have to have that mental torture over the years. I love redemption arcs, and I really hope this lad can get one. Only shame is seeing how he felt like he wanted to do this but maybe in a few weeks/months but couldn't due to the pressure of journalists hounding the situation so they can put something in the tabloids. No one is perfect, so if your heart is in the right place, I think everyone deserves some support to get where they want to get to.1 point -
Dele Alli Interview
GazzaGarratt reacted to Laidback Lankyman for a topic
Really good interview about a difficult and clearly personally distressing topic. Just a shame he had to be out of his comfort zone to give the interview before the papers printed whatever they wanted. Good to hear he got to the point were he took the action himself as others could so easily carried on that slide, and fair play to Everton keeping it quiet and helping him get the help he needed, can’t help think some other premier league clubs would have cut him loose to get it done on his own. Hope to see him bounce back in a positive fashion, whatever that maybe whether it’s on the field or coming away for it to help others. Also a big amount of praise needs to go to Gary Neville for doing the interview and going with the discussion when it clearly went where he wasn’t expecting and not forcing Dele with anything. I don’t like the term of ‘new media’ but a platform like this, which is a lot more popular with sports people of all types in the US, is clearly where players feel more comfortable discussing these issues so hope we get more of them in the UK.1 point -

Music of your teenage years
GazzaGarratt reacted to techno for a topic
My first foray into music when me and r kid got a record player was some donations from my uncle who had a music room so I got things such as Johnny kid and the pirates to Billy fury and even the chipmunks and Sarah brightman and hot gossip ..starship trooper. My first bought record was stand and deliver so my teenage years was the 80's so basically the best time for music😉. However after going throug the start of dance and techno I can listen to anything depending on mood or the amount of alcohol I've consumed even the stuff like the black veil brides and falling in reverse I have to put up with from the wife.1 point -
The Last of Us [Series]
IRaMPaGe reacted to Laidback Lankyman for a topic
I really enjoyed the show, and not having played the games am very happy it was available for £6 on the ps store recently. After watching the whole season I ended up reading a lot of the plots and it seems they have gone very quickly through it, but is this to make sure they don’t stagnate and get into repetitive/similar issues like the walking dead had or go too far away from source material like the witcher?1 point -
Music of your teenage years
Plumbers Crack reacted to Laidback Lankyman for a topic
In my very early years I was tortured by my mothers taste in pop that was abba, cliff richard, Elton John and boyzone. Fortunately my taste in my teenage years fell more in line with a particular forum plumber, getting into newer rock like oasis, blur, foo fighters, queens of the stage, offspring and muse, as well as a mix from other genres from reel big fish and less than jake, to eminem and dr dre and prodigy and fat boy slim. Now it’s still pretty much rooted in rock music listening to new and older stuff from ACDC, led zeppelin, guns and roses to royal blood and kasabian, but most days rather than anything in particular I end up listening to whatever station is on the site radio whether that’s kisstory, absolute radio or planet rock.1 point -

So I have ordered this today, imagine it will turn up next week. As it is my first racing game for a long time I am not sure if I will get on with it, I had gone off them somewhat (maybe I got burnt out by being rammed off race tracks in GTA years ago! 😄 ) But yeah I will jump on with you guys in the coming weeks ^_^1 point -
Final Fantasy XVI (16)
Riff Machine reacted to Luseth for a topic
I completed the game ^_^ I did contemplate going for the platinum trophy but honestly the last section of the game I raced through as I was getting a bit worn down by it, it is a large game especially if you are doing everything! The side quests are stories in their own I think but they felt that broken up as they were split between chapters if you like that they all got a bit lost, i.e. by the time I got to Lostwings ending I had forgotten what was going on there. The battles looked fantastic throughout and the story is much better than the last few games, you can certainly see the Game of thrones influence. It does currently stand as my game of the year but I feel like there has not been much to fight for the spot anyway as yet this year. Maybe when Baldurs Gate is released it could all change.1 point -

PES 3, 4, 5 and 6 were absolutely legendary! Even the original and its sequel were amazing because they were perfect captures of the PS1 ISS originals with vastly improved visuals and smoother gameplay. 3-6 really brought in the realism as it shifted away from its more arcade-roots. PES going to shit after the 360 launched was so devastating and really surprising and despite rejuvenating around 2015, they still didn't get anywhere near where they once were IMO. PS2 + PES, GTA and MGS = great days!1 point -

Picked the two wrong snipers to level, one needed hip fire kills (thank you shipment) and one needed double kills , whereas the others need two kills in ten sconces , doubles are two in three, very long road to get that camo done. But both done and moving them to gold1 point -

Nothing will ever beat Pro Evolution on the PS2, PES 10 years ago came close but I've not played a football game anywhere near Pro Evo master league in terms of fun, even with the stupid player names it had. It's all style over substance, which I couldn't give a monkeys about, yet too many people do, and will accept any old shit if it's painted right. Much like the real world🥳1 point -

GazzaGarratt reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
This is what pisses me off about EA and Konami - they spent so many years working on things like ball physics, animations, AI and trying to create the most authentic football experience possible and they threw that all away by chasing easy money instead. PES brickwalled itself once the Fox Engine went as far as they could push it and EA stopped innovating when UT really really printing money daily. I used to love seeing FIFA improve around 2008-13 - EA were so passionate about the game back then and they really pressed home their advantage over the faltering PES back then and every new release was an improvement that strived to only get better as the next gen loomed. Instead of the usual PR shite we see today, the devs really understood football and did their best with the limitations. Other brands don't stand a chance now because of the required development and huge licencing costs. eFootball proved that something as simple as an engine change can set a company back 15 years and 3 years on, that game is still total horseshit compared to the final PES game. It's such a travesty these two still control the market and no real credible competitor is out there and probably never will be. The FIFA licence going up for grabs was massive and not one single publisher took it on which just shows there is not an alternative dev that can make a football game in the next 5 years and no publisher is willing to pay up and take a chance. People expected 2K to jump in sometime in the past 10 years and they didn't even dip their toes in despite dominating sports many years ago. They went the same way as EA too and their basketball games are horrifying. FIFA should be so much better than what it is right now. I honestly don't think we'll see a proper football simulator ever again or anything remotely close.1 point
