Last movie you watched
Riff Machine and 2 others reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
Been wanting to rewatch Eraser for years. Was a really good watch for an Arnie film. His top films were definitely around the late 80s, early 90s era.3 points -
Final Fantasy XVI (16)
Riff Machine and one other reacted to Luseth for a topic
So I have refrained from posting up until this point, I am now about 18 hours in and generally I am quite enjoying the game - Story - It is seemingly up there as one of the best FF stories I think, there are questions to be answered to keep you going, the story moves at a nice pace and there are a couple of time jumps so you see the impact of some of the events that have occurred in the story. The story is more mature, there is enough blood and gore to keep you going! Visually it looks fantastic, it really does look next gen, there have been reports of PS5's struggling with some of it but I can't say I have had an issue. My only thought is that those who have had issues, have they been clearing out the fans and such regularly. I will save a few images throughout the course of the game and post them up on completion. It has a nice variety, different areas from desert to jungles, dark gritty dungeons and open green and bright landscapes. Sound - I am not really going to say anything on this one other than it is typical Final Fantasy, this is one aspect of the games they have never really gotten wrong I don't think and it's much the same here. Combat - This is the bit that concerned me on buying it, it's not to my taste i.e. turn based and I still do not understand the direction. Ironically it was intended to appeal more to Western audiences but it sounds like it has gone down quite well in Japan while more Western audiences have been more vocal in their complaints. My view is that Final Fantasy built itself on turn based combat, moving away to this devil may cry style is like Call of Duty going from a shooter to a turn based RPG, it's a whole gameplay style change and not necassarily one fans were calling for. That said I am enjoying it, I would say I am probably about 50% of the way through the game and I will get my money's worth which is always important!2 points -
World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore
jmrandle reacted to Middle Class Caveman for a topic
Apparently WOW Classic is getting Hardcore realms! That means they are launching classic 2004 servers (so just the original game, without any extensions etc) but you have to follow the hardcore ruleset which in essence is DEATH = DELETE. There is a bit more too it (i've added pic that summarises it) but it is rather tricky because the game is an MMORPG which means the content is created to be group played but you have to go it alone! I'm defo going to jump in and give it a go!1 point -

I do try and catch most episodes, I think it's a very well put together gaming podcast and you all complement each other very well, always comes across very cosy 🙂1 point -

We watched John Wick 4. I enjoyed it but I think the 'homages' to other films and series were less like subtle nodes and more like lazy writing 😅1 point -

So yeah, whatever DayZ 2 is being planned, I doubt it will be a new game...1 point -
DayZ 2
GazzaGarratt reacted to phil bottle for a topic
Indeed. I've heard talk of DayZ 2 but pay no heed. There won't be a DayZ 2, unless it's just putting DayZ in to a new engine. Modders have already taken Arma Reforger on Bohemia's new graphics engine and turned it into DayZ so, no, I don't see it personally. They haven't even finished the original, and that went into early access December 2013. It's an Arma developer, they do military sims, and DayZ was just a fortunate accident created for free...they have no real interest in a zombie survival game.1 point -

Is there a standout console this generation?
J4MES OX4D reacted to Riff Machine for a topic
Each system has its own thing in this gen. So far at least. Xbox with game pass is too good of a value for any gamer. In Canada, they also have a deal with a payment plan that let's you grab a series x, 2 years of ultimate game pass, and it's $45 CDN a month for 2 years. That instantly saves people from burning a massive hole in their wallets so yay! PS5 has had some huge, first-party epics that have been memorable but I haven't gone back to replay any of them save for starting a new game plus on Ghost of Tsushima. Nintendo has their first-party stuff that almost always ranks well. PC has been fairly consistent with a lot of options for new experiences, and the old reliable ones. The steam deck makes it a great portable option now. I've honestly been all over the place with gaming as of late. I just kind of go where the next one takes me. Currently, PS5 and FF 16, but come next week, that could change.1 point
