    Grid Legends

I downloaded and gave this one a go thanks to game pass affiliation with EA Play, and I gotta say, I'm digging it. The story mode follows an up and coming racing team trying to make it to the championship final called "The Gauntlet." You play as the unnamed driver 22 and have tasks to fulfill throughout, culminating in a championship victory. I enjoyed the tracks, some based on real life circuits, as well as the various types of vehicles used throughout. The electric series are hell fast in this one. I thought it was neat that. the career mode connects to the stories ending as well. Your driver and an engineer leave the team to create a new one and start from the beginning. Which you do during the career mode. You can give the team a name, logo, banner, and livery based on a ton of customizable options and have at it. The driving felt a lot more arcadey compared to previous entries in the series, but I didn't mind. I've always preferred that style, but every so often, I'll feel the sim stuff creep up here and there. You can tweak the mechanics of your cars at any given time though. There's been a bunch of DLC released, with the latest one dropping just this past week called Winter Bash. There's also some added story modes as well that either continue some stories or show how certain teams got to where they were before the story mode. Pretty cool game. I can't wait to get into some more racing fun.

    Hi-Fi Rush

This has been quite the fun game. It's so rare to see a triple A studio make/release a game lately that isn't a open world, MMO, microtransaction riddled slog. You're introduced to some new mechanics as you progress. Specifically when needed to break enemy shields, enemy armor, or stage traversal mechanics. Switching between each is done by pressing the LT and using the with R2. It can get a bit hectic during some enemy encounters, and one specific area for traversal, where you have to switch between them while on a timer during some platform jumping. Jumping is a bit weird. There's some moments when you'd think a normal single jump would easily clear a section, only to have you fall to your death. Yet, other times where it works fine. It got to a point where I just said "fuck it" and used the double jump for everything, and included the air-dash for good measure Boss encounters have that "wonderful" sectioned life bar that causes the boss to change up a bit each time. The only instant where that doesn't happen, is around the mid-part of the game, where you're tasked with only defending a certain boss. I actually found that encounter to be one of the better ones in the game so far. As I mentioned before, combat is all about keeping to the beat of the level. You gain a damage buff when you're perfectly in sync, and all enemies and bosses adhere to this as well. I've got one more stage to go, but I'll be doing another run through to get some missed collectibles and upgrades. Definitely worth checking out for all you game pass subscribers. As far as I know, It's only on the series X/S.

  10. I remember when the N64 and Goldeneye released. One on my friends older brother had it. His room was cool and had sweet lighting with different coloured LEDs. He had some DVDs neatly displayed. DVDs were new at this time also. We got to watch and play a little bit. The 4 of us were blown away by the gameplay and graphics. It felt like a special privilege. We were probably about 10 and had only had mega drives, PS1, Snes, Nintendo and gameboys. It was a different experience. A year or 2 down the line, another friend had it. We binged on it for hours on 4 player splitscreen. Times of magic and folklore. The absolute joy. The only thing that came close to the magic was halo 1 and 2. Playing 4 player of that round at mine with friends over. I managed to get a 3rd and 4th pad. More joy and fun and rolling fat joints and getting stoned hotboxing my room. Such simple fun times and laughs.

  11. I'm glad its now been released for the ones that grew up with this. I didn't and don't have a desire to get it unfortunately. I think i'd rather plug in the N64 and get a few of you around to help me understand how to play it on that rather than on PC/Xbox.

  12. I've just got mine all to Gold! 🀣 Great work Kenny, hopefully some longshots can be made on normal MP with LMGs as I think you said the range wasn't as far for these as it was for ARs?

  13. I have actually got a bit hooked again on the 2008 version. Such a good looking game with the settings maxed out. I found a bit of code to fix the ridiculous mouse settings and now I'm loving it.

  14. This was taken on a regular Monday, one month after the First Strike map pack (Berlin Wall, Kowloon, Stadium and Discovery) was released. 2.9m online on just the Xbox 360 alone! Map packs really bolstered consistent retention plus with the games being finished, there was no need for them to go back to the drawing board and relentlessly balance or redo the interface. The focus was new content and maintaining the excellent foundation already in place. Although COD games were more fresh and original back in these days, even today, they still sell on the same levels yet every game after BO3 has been teetering on the brink after 3 months rather than holding a steady population or even growing.

  16. Yeah I had a quick go on it, it's a pretty decent experience on the Xbox, aim assist is op but runs smoothly and doesn't leave a sour taste. Doubtful I'll get around to playing it again though.

  17. Switch version seems worse than the Xbox one - doesn't appear they even updated the UI or anything in that whereas the Xbox has some refinements in that area Xbox has the controller on the interface screen Switch however still shows the N64 pad and offers no customisation.

  20. It does look decent from what I've seen, but yeah doubtful I'll pick it up, maybe it'll appear in Gamepass at some point, or a 2025 bumble bundle πŸ™‚

  21. Some very strong reviews going up which is great news! Currently 89% on Meta and still many to go. Probably won’t get it at full price but certainly down the line. Looks like they did a very good job on this almost to the standard of how Capcom have rebooted the classic RE titles.

  24. Thanks @Antpool84 for organising this, it really has been a great thing to keep going through the WInter months and brings a lot of us together when we don't see much of us online sometimes. I definitely think we'll have some more to join us next year. I'm expecting to get some more Americans in early so they have no choice ( @TigerBurge @Jason cough cough) but also new people should really give this a go too. I know @Ally is keen on getting involved next time!
