Epic game. It's a bit like STALKER matched with Dead Space, and will fuck with your brain. I could only play shortish sessions at the time because I was a little bitch, maybe I should have a go again.

    Gaming Addiction

Pretty sure La is well versed in the WoW stuff. I cancelled my sub again, it expires tomorrow. I'm tempted to have one last night on it tonight but I can't risk being sucked back in, now that BC is out. I went through a hardcore phase though, I ran two guilds, cleared every raid every week across three toons, and was a dab hand in the arena too. I also did auction house PVP and was maxed out on gold on a few toons too. In fact it got so bad that when I went to certain sites at work, I used to take my laptop to work, teamviewer in to my home PC by tethering to my phone, and reset all my auctions whilst being paid on the job. I really took it too far. I've never been addicted to any other games though, I mean I've put in some serious hours, but that was mainly due to the awesome company I had rather than the game. Anyone who was around during our MW2-BO2 days will know what I'm talking about.

  3. My GPU is in for repairs at the moment, so I'm on a trusty old 750ti, which I think will spontaneously combust if I throw SC at it 😂 Will definitely give it a go once I've got ye olde trusty 2070S back tho, so I can be put to shame by @Plumbers Crack 's new monster 😄

I like the way the team and the manager have backed Kane even though his form has dipped a little (possibly due to transfer speculation?) and that ‘H’ is their man...good team spirit which is exactly what you need in a tournament

  9. I don't know why they bothered doing that teaser trailer, giving the idea they were working on a new ES game when they clearly weren't.

Rice and Phillips both had great games and really stepped it up for the occasion - they could've easily been dropped after the Scotland game but both looked solid and Phillips was especially lively. Southgate was right to keep the faith. Ukraine will be tough especially in Rome with very little England fans but it's a very winnable game and if we do that then it's back to Wembley for a another potentially winnable tie. It's a great opportunity.

No excuses now not to reach the final but its football and anything can happen cough cough Iceland so it'll be hard work, but achievable. Played very well past night. I was concerned about Rice at the beginning as he was too nervous and picked up a silly yellow. He was awesome after that though. Love the togetherness of the team, particularly the defence.

  12. Absolutely concur on that. I think we've all gone into this discussion previously and recently, especially when discussing EA. Game publisher overlords wants to monetize everything about gaming and make it a GaaS. So, we get shallow and casual games as a result. Gone are the days where there was a plethora of deep, unique games to play. The wonder of "going to pick out a new game to play" is gone. Gone are the days of going to the video game store to randomly pick out a game that looked fun and enthralling, sinking hours and days and weeks into it, then doing it again with another game... amassing a big collection of games that you could probably replay (I mean, I must have replayed A Boy and his Blob more times I can count). Now, publishers generally want something easy and sucking money out of players every chance they can get. So, we're looking now at games going down the lines of gambling. For those who are addicted or unaware of their addiction tendencies, it's not going to be alcohol or drugs or the casinos that's going to get them into crazy debt... it's going to be games that end up being pay-to-play. Somewhere in that above mess of words is a train of thought lol. Apologies on that.

  13. I don't think I've ever been addicted to a game although I did play MW2 and Black Ops in rather long sessions a decade ago. I also had some huge time sinks - mainly with strategy games when I was younger too but nothing of any concern that impacted with school or social life. When I hear about other people's stories, the differences are huge and are the absolute definition of addiction. Most games are shit nowadays and certainly aren't worth wasting time on - I couldn't imagine playing DOTA or CSGO for 14 hours a day like some. Others can play the likes of Warzone for 8 hours and then have another session after a short break. I am so glad I've outgrew a lot of genres and haven't been born into the skin/lootbox generation. Games have had more addictive and money sapping mechanisms in play in the past 7-8 years but thankfully I have not fallen into a lot of traps those games have. I also don't have the time to be addicted to any game either!

We’ve done it! Very cagey game but what a performance! I was a bit worried about the lineup but the players adapted well and our midfield worked incredibly hard. Shaw was excellent and we repelled a lot to keep a clean sheet. Did get fortunate a couple of times but took our chances well. I was petrified about VAR ruling them out during the celebrations😂 This will give us huge confidence especially in Southgate and his decisions along with his game plans. Off to Rome we go!

    10 days out west

I just got back from a family vacation. I took my wife and son on a big tour of US National Parks out west. We flew into Los Angeles, spent some time there, then did the tour. It ended up something like this: Los Angeles: Whale Watching boat tour. Kayaking with sea lions. Petersen car museum. La Brea Tar Pits. Hollywood sign from the observatory. Sequoia National Park/King's Canyon National Park (they connect): Hiking, exploring the giant trees and some mountain views. Death Valley: Driving the unpaved trails, some light hiking, star gazing, general sight seeing. Las Vegas area (including towns featured in Fallout: New Vegas. We went to Goodsprings and visited the bar the saloon is modeled after, went to Primm and saw the casinos and got some chips from Whisky Pete's, drove through the Mojave Preserve) St. George Utah/Zion National park. Canyon hiking, dinosaur track spotting, desert hiking Joshua Tree National Park: Light hiking, 107 degree weather Los Angeles: Autry Museum of the West, LA Zoo, Aquarium of the West, some light hiking. Santa Monica pier. Long Beach. Insert massive amount of visits to various taco trucks, Armenian bakeries, doughnut shops (seriously, LA has a butt ton of them from cheap-o to gourmet), and In N Out. LA traffic SUUUUCKS. I'm in no hurry to return to LA (or go through LAX again) but the trip was worth it and was a lot of fun.

  18. I'm up for whenever though I'd say the new patch is still a couple of weeks before going live and no reason not to jump in before then. Stick up a calendar event on a convenient day maybe? Players here who I know own the game are @GazzaGarratt @Diddums @Plumbers Crack @tronic44 I see Elite Dangerous players starting to come across to Star Citizen now, interesting to see Obsidianant make a video recently

Picked it up in the sale, and forgot just how much I missed it; I had a disc copy years and years ago but for ease I bought the full series on steam for pennies in the sale. Me and a mate were discussing the AI, and we reckon it's due to games no longer being 'corridor' shooters or having non-static or open worlds. It's a lot easier to implement flanking behavior when the world's layout is 'baked in'. It's still absolutely fantastic to see in action, and as @J4MES OX4D mentioned, I've found myself caught out more than once already. The sound design of the first game especially is still unmatched. Even the SMG feels meaty as hell. Not to mention the sounds for ambience (that disonnant tone and radio static 'marker' sound before/during spooky things STILL gets to me like nothing else).

I'm so used of facing brainless enemies in the likes of COD and Far Cry that I've been caught off-guard so many times in this game already - the AI is on another level here and one mission I was facing a guy in cover and another one on the level below who didn't have a clear shot at me but managed to bounce a grenade off the wall which almost landed at my feet. I tried running to cover but was killed by another enemy who was slowly flanking without me even knowing on the stairs the other side. When I tried it again, it played out completely different. There are no grenade indicators either plastered all over the screen so you have to use your eyes and ears during these frantic battles. Call of Duty is literally duck behind cover, shoot, duck, reload, duck when grenade icon appears and if you go off-rails ahead of the game intends then you just fall to the floor dead without even being shot. Harder difficulties in those type of games doesn't mean better AI either - it means more damage dealt and you get 'shot' more. It's just mind-blowing to see what happens in each encounter and the sad thing is this game being 16 years old and we've become so used of shoddy AI, phantom bullets, vision cones/alert bars and generally dumb AI that's an insult to the word 'intelligence'.

I have a sneaking suspicion they bullshitted it so the likes of Microsoft would buy into them. I can't see where their outlandish value lies otherwise. Todd Howard is also a master liar so if anyone was to con a major organisation, it would be him😅

  26. Right. I agree. But, I'm curious if anyone's here has ever found themselves addicted to video games. Addiction comes in 101 flavors, but I'm just curious about personal experiences with being addicted to gaming specifically.
