A great day of football yesterday. Czechs looked like they were going to score at some point for me before the sending off so it always felt like the right result. A cracking game between Belgium and Portugal too, especially the second half. End to end stuff and nice to see Belgium hold on. Portugal should concentrate on their game rather than falling over and surrounding the ref. Nice to see a number of refs this tournament not take all the shit from players diving and moaning. He stuck to his guns last night when Pepe tried to blow the game up as per usual.

Netherlands paid the ultimate price - missed an excellent 1v1 opportunity and 30 seconds later they were down to 10 men and never recovered. Blatant red card and very poor defending from De Ligt - he should've taken the slip and let the ball roll rather than fall over and then scoop the ball up to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity. Their performance after the red was very defeatist and the manger made no attempt to change the system. Czech are definite dark horses. Belgium game was a tight and cagey affair. I thought Portugal dominated possession and had a few chances but Belgium looked solid enough. Pitch was fucking awful though! Cannot wait to see them against Italy - they really haven't had much luck with their knockout draws in recent competitions!

  5. What makes you say that? You just need to make sure your house is roughly the same height as the Shard and you're sorted 🤷‍♂️

Holland beat by Czech Republic, that's a bit of an upset. Good for Czech, definitely a bit unexpected. The Dutch got a man sent off and never got much going. Excellent result for Czech.

    I bloody love food!

A nice 350g wagyu rump and a 750g sirloin. The Wagyu was an off-the-cuff thing I spotted at Asda, the sirloin was from the Parson's Nose (who do amazing meats). Salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, vacuum bagged. 2h for the sirloin (2" thick, longer time), and 1h for the rump. Both at 60deg. Quick sear in a pan with some olive oil. Served with some proper home-made chips, long stem broccoli with pesto and roasted pine nuts, and a variety of home-made sauces (chimichurri, pepper sauce, steak sauce) and a bottle sauce (everyday Chilli Sauce from Sauce Shop. Lovely.

Croatia 3-5 Spain What a game! It all started with a comedy own goal and the a cracking comeback after Spain took a 3-1 lead. Croatia could've easily gone 4-3 up at the start of extra time but then two quick goals sealed it. Spain are beginning to look quite a force once again with 10 goals in two games although they are vulnerable at the back. Croatia conceded some daft goals too including the third where the left back was having a water break whilst play was going on allowing for an easy goal. Great goal from Morata too! Can't see the France game being quite so dramatic though..

  9. For running I own 2 sets of lycras multiple types of shorts lost count on how many running t-shirts I own as most races/events you get one then there's my hydration back pack which I have 2 and a couple of belts which you can carry water bottles then there's my trainers which I needed a few of depending the terrain so I own 3 pairs but the most important accessory is my watch.

The Dutch were poor. First team ever to win all three group games and lose in the next round. The Portuguese took too long to get going and their best players simply didn't produce the goods when it mattered.

Last few races has been a real worry for Mercedes as we've watched Red Bull dominate from a power perspective. The French GP was a cracker and not much that Lewis could do in the end whereas yesterday Syrian GP was just domination in the end from Verstappen. Knowing Toto, you do expect them to work harder than ever to make it tighter ASAP. What's more impressive is seeing Lando in his Mclaren fight really hard at the top spots to hold 4th in the championship and for a brief moment, George Russell was on fire in his Williams. Sitting 8th and would've caught Alonso if he didn't start having problems with his car overheating. Such a shame for him and Williams. Can't wait to see them pushing hard over the next few races into the top 10 if they can keep it up.

@Diddums - I see you have a sous vide! We have the same one too. Love it, but haven't used it in quite some time. Can you tried to make brisket in it? It's just... amazing. Sous vide the brisket with the seasonings, then finish in the oven for the typical crust. And, now I want brisket.

    10 days out west

That depends on how willing to trespass you are and how much you like hiking inclines. If you don't mind hills and aren't concerned with trespassing, you can walk right up to them. We didn't, largely because up close they are just sheet metal on a frame and aren't really impressive in anything other than size. We also just aren't that into media culture, so while we saw it because you can't skip it if you're a tourist in LA, it was kind of meh. We had about 10 and a half days on the ground. We spent 1-3 days at most places. I think it was: Day 1: Land at 10:00-ish in the morning in LA. Do stuff that afternoon Day 2: LA stuff. Day 3: Labrea tar pits, then straight to Seqouia, afternoon and evening there. Day 4: Full day at Sequoia/King's Canyon Day 5: Trail run (just me) at sun up, then drive to Death Valley, have most of the day there Day 6: Death Valley until early afternoon, afternoon doing the Fallout: New Vegas tour, evening in Las Vegas, complete drive to St. George Utah (late night) Day 7: St. George Utah hiking Day 8: Zion national park, then drive to Joshua Tree (stopping off at Primm again on the way through), evening at Joshua Tree Day 9: Most of the day at Joshua Tree, then drive to LA Day 10: LA stuff Day 11: LA stuff until 11:45 PM flight

  15. The pass is good value though surprised you aren’t just picking up the xbox games on PC. No doubt the xbox is a good console though and arguably the best this gen so enjoy. Certainly easier to find somewhere to fit the xbox than ps5 🤣

  16. So, I had a zombie day yesterday after my neighbours partied all night until the morning in a big tent in their garden, and I ended up buying an Xbox Series X. The game pass is just too good a deal to ignore and it was available from Smyths while I was randomly checking availability of that and PS5. I'll still be getting a PS5 at some point, but probably not until the new Gran Turismo comes out, there's no other exclusive game on that console that makes me have any need for it right now.
